Feel like a treasure or scavenger hunt whenever I enter a world market. In a good way of course. I'm always enjoying finding something in the store. And for a store with so many items, I appreciate how clean and organize it is. Even on a weekend. I like going through their wine section and usually buying something from there. Sometimes they have international snacks that I also like trying. I do love seeing their seasonal items especially for Christmas. For me specifically it's all about the food that they have in the shop where you can find things from all over the world which is nice because it's a one stop shop. Great food and unique items that are the best for gifts and expatriates of Eurasia countries. Sadly prices have doubled. Don't bother with signing up for their "Rewards" program. You will get nothing but miserly gifts for purchasing that you don't need or want, no coupons for in store purchases, points are ridiculous useless. Of all "rewards" programs I'd say World Market Cost Plus is the most useless thing on your phone. They do sell your data to third parties but you get nothing from it. I had such a great experience at the Concord World Market that I had to write a review. Shout-out to Ebbie (manager), Eric, and a lovely young woman (whose name I didn't catch) for making my visit feel special! Ebbie is hands-down one of the best managers I've ever encountered--fun, knowledgeable, and just super cool. It looked like he was training Eric while also helping me sign up for World Market texts to get 15% off (yay!). I loved that Ebbie made sure Eric got the credit for signing me up--it was such a thoughtful move and showed what a great leader he is. I bought a faux bamboo tree floor model (which I love!), and both Ebbie and Eric wrapped it up beautifully and helped me load it into my car. It had been a tough day, but these two genuinely brought me joy. They made me laugh, answered all my questions, and made me feel taken care of. The dude and I came here on 11/13/21 as we needed to walk off all the Boba we just ate before the drive home. The dude thought it would be a nice princess outing here to find festive items. I didn't know what to expect here at all! Upon entering we weren't greeted by any staff as they were pretty busy! Walking in it's like CHRISTMAS just hit you in the face and you don't know what to do! So much festive items like where to start. I could easily spend a FEW hours here easily just going through EVERYTHING. They have everything from decor, food, toys, candles, crafts and even furniture!! It was very well organized and clean so I am excited for this store. There were so many things I wanted but I'm the type of person "Do I NEED it? Or WANT it?" And usually go with needs more than wants to reduce impulsive buys. But trust me it was hard. They even have kitchen items and decor too! Anything you imagine is here! They even have therapy (mental health) items which was cool. I think I was tempted to buy it but wanted to do research first. We ended up getting something to needed for burning our sage - a dish of which was uber cheap. We finished checking out the store and easily was there about 1.5 hours and walked away with one item! At check out staff encouraged us to sign up for their rewards program which it took awhile due to me just clicking buttons aimlessly xD so I have to be more patient ! One of my favorite stores to find anything from international foods, gifts, or even alcohol. This location had a huge selection of foods, drinks, furniture, and holiday items available. Products: Well stocked shelves with almost anything you can want from different parts of the world, from german chocolates, french pastries, Japanese sodas/mochi, or Italian pastas and desserts. I think there is something literally wrong with the employees in that location and their customer service. I have been there quite a few times to pick up some items, and every time I wait by the online orders desk, I am greeted with a disdain and reserve by the personnel. No hello, no questions about help and if I am being helped. I have not been willing to post anything about latest encounter with the staff, but I think the last visit there was too much for me. I had a great displeasure to be served by Roya, if I am not mistaken. She was not in the mood to approach me for a few minutes, even though she had noticed me waiting and there was nobody else in line. When she finally came up to me, she made sure I felt her pain for working there. With a guilty and sorrow face, Roya asked me if I am picking up. She did not bother checking my order's number before she went to the warehouse to pick it up. Then she is back and asks for my order number and then she heads back to the warehouse. She wheeled my item to the front as if it was the heaviest load carried ever in that store and a with bitter tone Roya ordered me to show my DL. Then with a same tone she had to approach another employee, a male this time, and she interrupted him serving another customer. She asked him to take my product outside and load it onto my truck.....All well, except for that clients can easily notice BAD ATTITUDE! read more

Stephanie was so great! I purchased an expensive coffee table on-line but was not liking the color of the wood. When I was in the store earlier I liked the floor model and wanted to exchange mine for that one. I called Cost Plus to see about a return. The first woman I talked to said this wasn't possible and when I asked to talk to a manager (Stephanie) I would have to come in. Now - that's a $7 bridge toll to speak to someone? Hmmm. She finally got someone on the phone and that was Stephanie. Stephanie was MORE than happy to help me, in fact she went above and beyond. Found me a table that was much better. I generally love Cost Plus. Their stores are filled with treasures and foods from around the world. But this experience was horrible. Bad enough for me to never return to this store. So back on 7/30, my fiance and I stopped by to look at their rug selection. We have 2 kittens that love to destroy and we cant invest in anything long term. This was when an attendant stopped by and helped us get more info on the two rugs we were interested in. She let us know that they had two of the miramar persian rugs in boxes in the back. So I asked if I could get the 10% curb side pickup discount. She said I could, but I'd have to come back tomorrow to pick it up just because they were closing in 30 minutes. I said no problem and we left the store. That night we ordered the rug online and it was ready the next day. We called to tell them we were at curb side and about 5 minutes later a young person carried this huge 7x9 rug ( all crumpled up) to our truck. Needless to say, I was angry. I just dropped a couple hundred bucks and you bring this rug to me like this?( picture attached). So I go in the store and the Assistant Manager proceeds to tell me that the rug sold to me is new. So I pull out my phone and show him a picture of the rug hanging on his floor the night before. Theb he goes to the back and comes back 15 minutes later, just to tell me that his associate doesnt as much as he does and that she provided me with the wrong information. Long story short, the rug is the one on the floor and that a new one will take 5 weeks to arrive. Basically he offered me 10% off for selling me a floor model. Which I accepted after confirming that I can still return the rug, if I am unhappy with it. (He tells me I have 30 days to return, the receipt says 60 days on the back). Fast forward to today, when I tried to return the rug in store. It wasnt so much that they gave me a hard time returning my item. But Hanzo ( which I would assume is the Manager) spent nearly 10 minutes telling me that the crumpled up rug delivered to my car, which was displayed on the floor and was touched by everyone during a pandemic is not a floor model. This guy was rude, lacked basic customer service skills, and clearly doesnt know the old adage- the customer is always right. Needless to say, I will limit my visits to Cost Plus and drive to other physical stores for necessary future purchases. read more

Uncomfortable shopping experience! From the minute I walked in, I was "followed" around every dept by the male employee that was there today on 3/19 at 10:45 am. I could not make a move without him "facing" items next to me on the shelf, asking if I needed help...trust me, I was a retail manager and know "all the tricks in the book". Never once have I done anything inappropriately. I used to work for CP back in the day in San Mateo... and shopped in Redwood City when I lived out there. My experience today was horrendous! IF, I ever shop your store again, it will be online. I was waiting for Yard house to open up and killing time while waiting for my car to be completed at the nearby dealership. Never have stolen and never will, i get it... retail sucks... but your customer service sucked worse! Retail and retail management got me through college...and the successful person I am today. Respect your job and customers... if you aren't happy, move on! I may have been the youngest retired person in the store shopping at that time, so was I threat in my sweatpants and puffy vest, no make up and taking care of my errands? ....online will replace you soon, so start looking for wherehouse jobs that will replace you workers with crappy attitudes. read more

Decided to try curbside pick up at Concord Veranda location and had an offer of 15 percent off for using curbside pick up. An associate called me who was very pleasant to let me know items were unavailable and I chose to just not have them on the order. I received an updated receipt and noticed that the 15 percent offer was not added to this new receipt. So I called the store and another associate picked up and I proceeded to let her know that the updated receipt did not have the offer. She said there was nothing that can be done. I explained that the store had to update my order and the change in items was not my fault... before I could finish the associate snapped back "I DIDN'T SAY IT WAS TOUR FAULT".... then I proceeded to finish my sentence saying I was just going to ask if there was anything you could do but let's just cancel the entire order. She quickly said okay give me the order number and gave me another person name and I said that that wasn't me. Then she found the order and and said ok bye! Then I quickly asked for her name .. I really thought that she was going to pretend not to hear me but gave me a name. This was not the best customer experience if a store is trying to promote their curbside pick up option. read more

Some I've never even heard of. ~ Various honey, jellies, and Nutella. Vegemite for $8.99 and marmite for $5.99. ~ Love their savory coffee selection too. I usually get a big bag of the Italian Roast or the Sumatra Blend. Both bold with a deep smelling robust aroma. ~ Useful cooking utensils and baking tools you might not find at Target, or anywhere. ~ And furniture for the kitchen and living room. I actually bought a floor model kitchen table made of good strong quality wood from Thailand. Loved that I bought the matching bench and chairs. And a long bench cushions! I really like this location as it's not too busy, usually clean, and the staff is helpful. I forgot the furniture manager lady's name, but she really helped me find what I needed. I really enjoy going to Costplus in Concord because of the variety of chocolates, beer, wines and other unique snacks and cooking ingredients from almost around the world that they offer. I certainly like those British and European made chocolates. The store is usually clean, organized and always smells good. Lastly very well decorated too. Customer service. Not bad but not good either. Some sees you, but others sees you but pretend they dont. Definitely needs improvement. Lastly, as much as i like their furniture styles, they are pricey. But, when there are on sale, that's when i start browsing. Overall, i must say, they do have good sale periods. So, Costplus, keep it up. read more

Plus - the store is very clean. Like, remarkably clean. It's big too, so lots of inventory. Minus - we had an online order. Pulled up to the pick-up parking area and called. Took a few minutes of ringing to get to someone, who was not speaking into the phone (they had pulled the phone off the hook and set it down so it would stop ringing). I tried to get their attention to no avail. When the line cut, I called back and went through 10 minutes of ringing, then someone picking up only to be told to hold...again and again and again. So I went inside, which is exactly what the curbside pickup is designed to avoid because of COVID. I stood in line while on hold, and watched as my hold phone call as picked up every 3-5 minutes when the ringer started making a noise you can't ignore, then told to hold and the receiver was hung back up. Finally someone not working the front asked if they could help and got me my order. It's important to note I was the only person in the parking for in-store pickup...that doesn't mean there weren't others, but they were not parked in the designated area. Here is the frustration this store needs to handle - it was evident there was no workflow to have employees in designated staffing areas. There needs to be a group for the cash wrap, and a group for pick-up. And that staffing needs to be handle their designation. It was madness in the store and it was evident every employee was overwhelmed...as evidenced by being put back on hold seven or eight times over a half hour total. It doesn't have to be this way. This is a significant management issue but it affects the store and means it's much less likely I will come back. read more

I am now officially a fan of Cost Plus... And to think this market was just in my backyard all these years?! I'm a complete junkie for handmade, local goods and artisan finds, and Cost Plus World Market is the convenient chain heaven for that. From stationary to bath supplies to furniture to foods, drinks and tableware... It is SO easy to wander in here aimlessly and end up spending hours looking at all their neat little gizmos, cute handmade goods and dozens of interesting food finds. I initially came in here looking to buy a coffee maker for my brother as a gift, but I was taken aback by everything else they offered. I snagged some alcohol-filled chocolates; a neat journal for my friend; a crafty drink tumbler. So easy for a girl like me to get so freakin' distracted by everything this place offers. (Do I need this? Would I need that? Would my mom want something like this? That looks pretty cool!) The holiday line was SO long, but it whizzed by fast considering the whole team seems to be pretty efficient at it. The lady who rang me up was SO pleasant and friendly--especially considering how busy it was the day I came in. She had an interesting name and said she was from Algeria--awesome! I could hear her French-like dialect. (Ca va?) I ended up getting free membership to get some awesome deals next time I may want to drop by. I was so sad when the World Market in the Willows closed, but was happy to see this one open right up afterwards. This is a clean and well organized store, and fairly consistent on keeping things stocked. I love the coupons and deals World Market does for their "Explorer" club and there's always a deal on something! This holiday season (2019) they have given away free advent calendars, cookie cutters, and ornaments to their members among other things.
