As there are MANY candles and home decor goods, I proceed to open a jar at the register to explore the scent when she abruptly and rudely said "Don't open that! It's honey! The candles are over there!" Go figure. I doubt I'm the last adult person to mistake a jar for this, given the store merchandise ALL around (you don't see foodstuff, you see pillows, tchotkes and candles, not jars of honey that could be spilled). Needless to say I left thereafter and wished her good luck with business. Treat your customers with better service and respect. She was rude. I won't be shopping there, nor recommending other locals to shop there either. Inventory and decor style still the same from its inception years ago. I was invited to Lavender Moon as a guest to a private sip and shop on Saturday 16th of March! I met so many lovely shoppers! The staff at the shop were so helpful, they take such care with presentation when packing your items. The merchandise is unique and the owner and staff are always so friendly and helpful when you're looking for that special something. I go into the store on a regular basis because Tami not only has new merchandise all the time, but I have also gotten hooked on the olive oil hand cream, the various hand sanitizers, and the lavender spray that I use on my pillowcase at night to relax me. I have gone to this business several times. I have purchased quite a few items from Lavender Moon and have been very pleased. However after today's experience I have a different opinion about Lavender Moon. A few days ago I purchased 2 pillows for my RV. Once I put them in my rig I realized that the pillows didn't fit my aesthetic. So today June 13th, I decided to return the items. I asked for my money back and explained why I needed to return the items. The person that I encountered told me that it was store credit only and showed me a framed sign on the wall. I told her that I was not aware that I couldn't receive my money back. I also told her that the "return policy" wasn't on the receipt I received. She said it was on the receipt and I provided the one given to me. I looked at it and asked her to show me where it said store credit only, she couldn't. She then told me that in 8 years no one has ever asked for their money back. And that was it for me. I told her to give me the store credit and when I was finished using it I wouldn't come back. She said that I didn't allow her to finish what she wanted to say. She said she was going to give me my money back. She was passive aggressive. I said that it didn't matter that I wasn't there for clap back. She said she hardly had any sales that day. I once again said I just want the store credit because I was done. She said she would give me a 50.00 credit and I asked why when the receipt in her hand said 77.00. She gave me the store credit for 77.00. Now she can now resell the pillows that didn't work for me. And I am forced to use my money only in her store. This is a small business and she should have made it crystal clear of her policies. Had I known it was store credit only I would have thought twice before I buy there. I walked in with my daughter and didn't feel very welcome. I had opened a lollipop right when I got inside to distract my three year old from touching everything but I guess that lead to the owner(I'm assuming, she was a blonde lady) eyeing us heavily until she finally said she didn't want her lollipop to "get on anything." The store itself is small and has a few gift type items. I was interested in the candles that were cute and looked like they were made from another maker, as well as some essential oils she had in a display case. She showed me the pepper mint oil I was inquiring about and then she had and automatically assumed I couldn't afford the Doterra she had. I get the that we're living with Covid, but what does it take to acknowledge that you have a customer who just walked through your doors. I gave this place a second chance. Before Covid, I asked the owner of Lavender Moon for some advice on a piece I was working on with chalk paint. She responded that I should join one of her classes. Would it be so hard as to just answer my question? OK, that's kind of fair. After that,experience, it was my choice to not do business with them again. It was a simple ask. Her choice to respond that way. Fast forward to today. I needed a last minute gift for a coworker and friend. I walked into the shop, and wasn't acknowledged in any way. I spent at least 20 minutes trying to figure out the best gift I could give, but was waiting to hear "can I help you find something?". That never happened. I found a beautiful bowl, which Is great, but what happened to customer service? I feel that, historically, that's what is lacking in this shop. It's unique. It has great stuff. If you're there for the product, great. But, from a person that values and lives by the rules of "exceeding guests expectations" sadly, they are surely lacking. This store has an incredible variety of items from reed diffusers (tons of scent options), bathroom decor / accents, home decor, and such stunning little cheese knife sets and beautiful throw pillows. You can really buy so many things for the home or even as a cute gift for a friend, newly married couple or new born baby. The store really has a lovely and relaxed "Farm Like" appeal to the way items are designed. I went here on Christmas Eve and again last week. Each time I enjoyed it and found really good gifts for loved ones. On the recent visit, I purchased a jewelry box for my girlfriend that she had eyed on the previous visit. Ana was at the register and she offered to wrap it. The first time my daughter and I went to Lavender Moon and were quite impressed with the selection and friendliness of the staff. We bought some soaps and linen spray. We decided to go back today to look at some furniture pieces and the wood chalk paints. The first time we went it was close to closing time so we did not have a chance to look at everything. Our visit today was quite different. We were followed around as if we were going to shop lift. Everything we looked at, the salesperson was right there. It made us uncomfortable. It was mid-day and the store had one other customer who was able to browse without the salesperson breathing down their neck. We won't be going back, which is too bad since there are so few shopping choices in town. Their prices seem rather high (especially for soap, etc) but I try to support local businesses and will spend a little extra to do so. But I won't spend money in a store that treats customers as we were today. read more
