I had recently dropped my Mixing glass for Cocktail making and had to find a replacement. I had also "donated" my last mixing glass at my last job so I needed another one. I had stopped by my local C & B and spoke with a gal Ramona, and they were out of my Mixing glass at the store. She had ordered one for me at another store and I had one shipped to the WC location, at no additional shipping charges. The Mixing Glass arrived a little later then anticipated (10 days opposed to 3-5), but they called me when it came in. It was as I exactly what I needed at my work Bar. Dru is an exemplary employee! The line was getting long. I stopped him as he passed to inquire about the pickup station. He promptly retrieved & sorted out my order which hadn't gone through properly. He was friendly and efficient. He had me bagged and out in minutes A+++ 100% awesome staff member. I walked in to purchase gifts from a registry, and every single employee (three in total that helped me) were all so friendly and helpful! They made you feel like an appreciated customer and had a happy and professional demeanor. They even offered to wrap my gifts, and were efficient in making sure the gifts were taken off the registry. I absolutely love crate and barrel and their furniture. Me and my husband moved last year to Berkeley and we still haven't shopped for a sofa because of how picky he was. We were not looking to purchase anything and we were just walking around the mall and got tired, entered the store and sat on a couch that was displayed first thing when we opened the door. Instantly, we knew this was a nice sofa we both wanted. It was a beautiful stain resistant fabric couch that has a chaise, with large sitting depth. The sofa was one of the newest design in the store and after checking that they had good warranty and each furniture design stays in market for many years for us to alternate or modify the setting of the sofa in case we move out to a different home. This Korean lady Ms. Choi helped us out and she was very knowledgeable. She made sure we get all the discounts available in the store and was very patient with the purchase process. Not only that, we even loved the delivery process. The delivery men handled the furniture very well and knew what they were doing! It was so fast and efficient. We had this sofa for 2 months now and we still love it to this day. I think the pricing is reasonable for the quality as well. It was a happy coincidence that we stopped by the store and ended up spending $$$ to get a sofa in the middle of Sunday. read more

Crate + Barrel in downtown Walnut Creek changed locations twice since my last review. They are now on the corner of S Main and Olympic. I believe there used to be Talbots and Warriors Team store in this spot. There is parking right behind the Barrel. On the way to the 2nd level parking is the Curbside Pickup area (2 spots). The parking up on the 2nd level was $3/hr. My first visit at this location was earlier this week. It was a good time to shop- a Wednesday at opening. With the holidays approaching, I came seeking to update my special occasion dining table look. Although I went in with an idea, Patty was extremely helpful and patient as I figured out how to bring it all together. I not only got everything I needed (plus more I probably didn't need as always) but I felt like conversing with Patty was like shopping with a friend. After the items I wanted were brought up to the counter from backstock, she made sure to carefully examine each item for any faults. I appreciated her attention to detail, as I do the same. She packed everything up with care and arranged for the items to be brought out to the curbside pickup. Another pleasant and successful experience at Crate + Barrel. Thanks Patty! read more

Bought bedding for our friends, as a house warming gift, that cost $250+ but it was the wrong size bedding so we wanted to return it. We went to the Walnut Creek store to look at a specific sofa that we had seen online. The salesperson, T, was like a used car salesperson. She expected us to decide and purchase immediately. It was an uncomfortable experience. I might shop at the WC store again but avoid that salesperson. In addition, she called repeatedly to the point that I blocked the number. read more

If you're paying this much to fill your apartment with "luxury" goods (it's all relative), you deserve access to the same sales consultant. Inconsistency is a big problem in retail. Other downsides: shipping takes forever, packaging was ridiculous (at least prepare customers for the amount of space one boxed chair requires so we don't have to rent a U-haul.) Pick up is usually a hassle because of this particular location. There are so many sales reps at other places who make furnishing your apt easy and painless. And the level of confusion with online orders made it easier just to keep broken merchandise. Not worth it. There were several sincere and easygoing sales associates to offset an unusually uptight and completely humorless new brigade of self-important "management". perhaps some form of amnesia. Lazy and incompetent staff (non-furniture). They are just doing the bare minimum to cruise. The worst is they display a poor attitude when actually asked to do basic things inherent to their job. We had several eye rolls which were hard to ignore. On our visit to the store one evening, we asked questions about a kitchen appliance they were on demo and later when back home came to find out 90% of the information provided was incorrect. They just don't know anything. One of the other reasons people would visit is to see/touch/feel and try out the items. It's the whole point of having a physical retail presence. However in this location, the staff is so unwelcoming; we were really made to feel like it is a huge inconvenience for them to demo the luxury appliances we were considering (of which, they were not even aware of basics like price and features)! read more

We were so disappointed with this store yesterday. My husband and I were standing In front of the wine glasses, the lady associate which was helping another customer rudely said EXCUSE ME and asked me to move aside so she can get by. She could have walked around us. At the checkout another associate missed to charge us for one of the items. I let her know. So she had to ring a second transaction. Once completed she did not give us the receipt. I reminded her I needed a receipt for the purchase. She said yeah I forgot to print it. Again I said I'm not leaving without the receipt. She couldn't figure out how to do it. After several minutes and several attempts she asked a male associate to help. He was so rude and short with me. I kept explaining I needed a receipt for my purchase. At one point he said so you're returning the items. I had to show him the charge that was made on my credit card. He finally figured out how to print the receipt. As he was handing it to me he said Thanks for waiting 2 more extra minutes to get your receipt. I can purchase everything on line but if I come in to your store I don't expect to be treated with disrespect. read more

Something is seriously wrong with this location. The first time I purchased a gift here, they moved me out of my line, had some newbie handle my transaction and it took them an HOUR to wrap my gift. The whole time they treated me with exasperation. Today, I went in for a wedding gift and as per the usual, I was not greeted AT ALL by no less than five associates. After having to practically beg another associate to allow me to rest my heavy tray behind the register while I gather other items, I make my purchase. The gentleman helping me walks off to wrap up my gift which had an envelope inside that was supposed to have my gift receipt- another associate ends up printing the gift receipt after the associate helping me leaves and it was clear that he forgot to include my gift receipt in the box. I let him know when he returns and he proceeds to take the tape off and wants to retape the beat up box. I tell him it's a wedding gift and he huffs and puffs about putting it in a new box. He was about to leave again to wrap the gift again without the gift receipt and I remind him it was supposed to be in the box, he tells me loudly that I'm confusing him. I let him know that this is not the first time I've had this situation at this CB and he says that maybe it's my problem. Funny thing is that the folks in the Palo Alto location are super nice and polite. Should also mention that another associate starts sharing that "it's all about kindness" loudly to another customer - sorry lady, I didn't need a moral lecture. The same associate lectured an elderly customer for not wanting to round up his purchase for charity (he stated that he donates regularly outside of the store, and that was apparently not enough for the moral police). This store's employees seem to think that they can treat customers poorly then lecture them when they voice dissatisfaction. Not happy! read more

I decided to redecorate our home recently and thought that I'd buy shelving from Crate & Barrel. Bad idea. I first ordered two shelving units and after almost 4 full weeks I'd not heard anything, though I'd been charged. Weird... I called and inquired about the items that were not shipped, yet charged to my account. The lady told me, "Oh one of the shelves won't be available until June so we will ship all of your order then." What the hell? One shelf isn't available so you'll charge me and hold all of the order until that one shelf is in stock? That's kind of weird, right? After speaking with the lady she assured me they would send what was in stock and then not charge me a delivery fee for the other item that was holding all my items behind. Okay. Thanks. Then I ordered another shelf because I loved the first one that was delivered and I wanted to add another that size to my front room. I decided to pick that one up from the show room myself to avoid the $80 delivery fee. And avoid any issues that may happen due to whatever, like last time. #foolmeonce Today, I saw additional charges from Crate & Barrel to my account. WTF? So I called. Wow. That was a bad idea. The guy at the service center not only laughed at me and my questions pertaining my charges, he ridiculed me for not knowing their billing practices and then told me my shelf (the one not available until June) was at the warehouse. No one called me, they charged me, they told me June. WTH? I expressed my disdain for being laughed at and treated like an idiot for questioning my billing. I told the person that I was highly disappointed at his unprofessional activity and he told me, "Sorry, it wasn't intentional...". Are you kidding me? Laughing at someone with billing questions should not be tolerated by management. I just wanted to know why was I seeing 4 different charges on my bill over a span of 6 weeks? It was weird. And he told me, "Ma'am, I'm not sure how they bill but be assured we didn't overcharge you even though we charges your card several times over several weeks...". He said it with a snarky tone, and talked to me as if I were the dumbass, not him. Very disrespectful. Needless to say, this experience has caused me to change my ideas about shopping at Crate & Barrel. As in, I will never shop there again, and that's too bad because I shop there frequently. As we were planning our move to Genoa, we performed a bunch of online searches for various pieces of furniture. We were particularly impressed with a nice wood dining room table that Crate & Barrel offered, along with some stylish, yet practical chairs. Lucky for us, this "brick and mortar" part of Crate & Barrel had both items (and others to compare) in stock and on floor display. The Walnut Creek store is spacious and we were pleased to encounter employees that wanted to be there and were both knowledgeable and excited about the Company's products. Today was my first time visiting Crate & Barrel at this location and the second time ever at this store. Spacious store with a floor dedicated to kitchenware. I didn't know they had a second story until I was on my way out the door. I told my bf we would come back another time since we had to pick up food. The store is big enough to accommodate many shoppers, so you don't have to wait outside in a long line to get in like the Apple Store next door. A few minutes after I walked in, a lady asked if I needed help. I told her I was just browsing. In my mind, I thought Crate and Barrel sold expensive things that were out of my price range. After roaming around the store, they have quality, unique houseware and decor that are reasonably priced. Thus, I grabbed a handful of cool looking plates. I was happy that I didn't have to pay $50 per plate. If you are into baking, cooking, and food photography, I highly recommend that you swing by and take a look. If you need assistance, they have plenty of helpful workers to help you. read more

We love C&B and buy most of our furniture from them, but they recently downsized their Walnut Creek location. For us, the main reason for driving to a physical location is to test out the products in real life (such as sitting on a chair before buying it). With its now reduced footprint, this store is not helping in that way as there are a lot fewer options in store. read more

Awful & adversarial services from April, customer service manager. After spending numerous calls and arranging 3 replacements of the same couch from the store, they continue to send us poor quality items. We also complaint about disorganized communication from the store & their customer service dept, and tonight, they did it again. We told "April", customers service manager, of the issue, and she said "I didn't call you," when in fact their store called us to arrange another delivery after we told them no more replacement and we can't afford to have strangers roaming in/out of our home with the risk of COVID exposure. Clearly, Crate & Barrel does not care about their customers. We tried to write up product review, but their own censorship actually did not allow us to post. I rewrote twice, and still didn't work. Oh well, I guess Yelp it is. So, let us post it here. Three times a row, the sent us a corner piece of a couch with damage. Despite they confirmed that they will do quality inspection prior to delivery, they didn't do it. Think twice before you spend the money there. WoW this store offers excellent customer service and i was there to make a return, NOT a purchase. Very impressed! I had to make a return from an online purchase that just didnt work out and had tossed out the box accidentally. The associate that assisted me was very friendly and welcoming, none of that "oh its a return vibe". Which is always nice to see and feel anytime anywhere in retail. The process was quick and easy without too many whys & more whys...lol The store is located next to the big parking structure, that was a plus for me as i had to lug the semi-big item into the store by myself.. It was obvious I got it at the store. The salesperson said I would need a store credit because it was past 30 days. That seems silly as it is a rug sample. Fine. Stopped in to pick up a present for my friend's engagement party. She wasn't registered anywhere, but I know that Crate and Barrel has great gifts. I wandered around the store longer than expected but found a couple gifts that I thought would be great. I settled on a nice gift that I thought my friend could use and brought it up to the counter. Since my gift included glasses, the lady at the register carefully packaged my present in tissue, in a nice box and bag. Great customer service and my present was all wrapped up and ready to go, saving me time and money trying to find a way to wrap my gifts. Apparently whoever it is that makes this sofa still can't seem to get it right. So here's a photo of the new cushions, see what you think. I went ahead and took delivery on the new sofa, fearing that if they need to do this again we might be running out of fabric.. Still not happy! $3000 for this custom sofa. The new store is smaller with mostly new staff it looks like. Had a bad experience yesterday. After ordering an item online for pickup. I received a text to go pick up my item. Was greeted after waiting in front of the cash register with 5 staff talking to each other disregarding me. After a while one asked me if she could help. She ask if I could give her my order number. I said what? who remembers their order number by heart? She responded everybody does... I told her she was lying and she ignored me and ask for my phone number. Then she talked to her microphone and left... What an idiot, what a bad customer service. After a few minutes another staff came and dropped my item on the counter. I had to ask if it was for me and OH.... he gave it to me and left without a word. Your customer service staff needs a LOT of training and you should get rid of the ones who are not at their place. Every time I have picked up an online order (about 5 or so times), I have had great customer service at this location. They're usually very quick about finding my order and bringing it out. Only once did it take a while, but the person helping me apologized and let me know one of the other staff members was working on finding it. It wasn't her fault but I really appreciated that she cared! I've also had the store call me on 2 different occasions to tell me my order was ready to be picked up. They were very nice, and one time they even suggested that they could hold one of my items until my final item arrived the store, so I didn't have to come two separate times. Terrible experience. They sold us a returned garbage can with a dent in it. Once we opened it (as a Christmas gift) we saw the dent right away, and also the original buyers receipt. They didn't tell us it was returned and we paid full price. The store clerk was also unhelpful, when we were asking for recommendations on cook ware. She seemed annoyed we didn't know what we wanted. Overall would have thought Crate and Barrel would deliver a much better experience for the price. Will choose a different store next time. read more

I rarely write on Yelp and I could not skip writing as this Crate & Barrel store has an amazing employee. Their name is Ken, whenever we go that Ken does their best to help. We ordered our sofa here and we were there to get some holiday stuff yesterday. He showed up and helped us find the product we were looking for. Yesterday we raised one of our issues with their credit card to the store manager(not Ken different person), he was not helpful at all, its obvious that their store manager (who was working on 12/27/2022) does not like the job, he was pushing back all the requests and questions. After we left the store, Ken called us and helped us on the phone about the issue we have. This was definitely above and beyond customer experience. Thanks a lot Ken! My husband and I drove to Crate & Barrel to check out the grey wash Basque table. We noticed that the price for the table was lower in store than online. When we pointed this out, the associate agreed to honor the lower price. They were also kind enough to take my 15% off coupon. We had the table delivered with their "white glove service." It came promptly and was set up quickly and efficiently. When we noted that the table had a flaw, customer service promptly scheduled for a replacement table to be delivered. I really like the Crate and Barrel in Walnut Creek. I've been in the store about three times now and someone has always been around to help me and answer my questions. My latest visit was on Sunday, December 5, 2010 to look at a couch I was interested in purchasing. Before going to the store, I looked online for the colors available then headed to the store for a closer look at the couch. When I approached a sales clerk, he was more than happy to not only print out all the specs for the sofa but also the different variations that were available. He then walked me over to the fabric area and gave me swatches of the colors that I was interested in. I really appreciated the incredible customer services. I asked him a few questions about each color and how he thought the couch would turn out. Instead of saying "I don't know," or giving me generic answer, he walked me over to different couches with the same color fabric to help me visualize the final product. When I have such great customer service such as this, especially during the holiday season, it really solidifies by loyalty to the brand and store. read more

This Crate and Barrel is a very nice store. The employees there were very helpful and friendly while I was in store and helped me use my coupons and locate certain dishware in their catalog. The problems started when a few things had to be shipped to me. I got a notification my plates had been delivered. Nowhere to be seen. Ok, new building, maybe FedEx was lazy and they'll get it in the morning. 3 days. Nothing. I finally contact customer service. Some lady from the WC store calls me, says that my plates were delivered to the wrong address (how? I sat there and watched them type it in) and that the people who received them had called, confused. Ok...but why didn't Crate and Barrel reach out to me proactively when that happened? Why did I have to contact them? I am assured that new plates will be sent to me and that the address will also be changed on the backordered items. I assume that's that. About a week later, with no plates and no confirmation emails or anything, I get suspicious and email customer service again. Again someone from the store calls (although I specified in my note to customer service that I would prefer to work through email since I shouldn't be taking random calls at work and would like a 'paper' trail) and it turns out that the replacement order was never put in. She also reads off the incorrect address AGAIN and I have to correct her and make sure they send everything to the correct address. I ask for an email confirmation but I am waiting on that and it's been almost 30 minutes. I ordered these plates on July 21st. I ordered an ottoman from MOROCCO and it got here in less time and with less fuss than 2 salad plates from Crate and Barrel. Anyway, to sum up, if you would like to buy something from Crate and Barrel that you cannot physically pick up from the store and take with you, I think you would be better off ordering online or at least going to a different Crate and Barrel. read more
