There was NO pressure to buy and it felt like she has all the time in the world to work with me. Most importantly, MSK listened to all our conditions, likes and dislikes and never really went over budget at all and even finished the work ahead of time which is unheard of in construction industry! Kat, Kelly, Curt and all of them were detail oriented, patient, and we loved working with them. It showed their experience in this industry and all the vendors they work with were also great. Communication was easy with CoConstruct and it was great to not to have to deal with every small thing. MSK took care of all the permits, engineering and inspection paperwork's which I think was the biggest hurdle prior to actual work. I would highly recommend MSK!

I had been wanting to remodel my kitchen and living areas for the last few years. My first phone…read morecall was to Kat, the co-owner at MSK Design Build. She spent close to an hour with me on the phone and provided a rough idea of budget as well as ideas to make the job more cost effective. Following that, I spent several months and considerable time meeting with several other designers/builders in my area. As a result, my decision to work with MSK is based as follows: 1. They spent the most time and effort upfront to provide a realistic estimate and made every effort to include costs that others overlooked (i.e. asbestos abatement). 2. They were very clear about the process and scheduling for the job. The utilize an application that is transparent for both the client and themselves. It was very clear to me that responsibilities were well defined in their company. 3. They took the time to explain the details of the job to me. Prior to signing design contract, they were available to answer any questions or concerns I brought up. 4. Specific personnel would be assigned to my job. It would not vary throughout the duration. 5. The fact that they design AND build (from their own design) was appealing because that would minimize any discrepancies between a separate design company and a separate build company. Linda was my designer. Although she is now retired, she has many years of experience in design. She did an outstanding job in the new layout of my kitchen. In additions, she made other helpful suggestions of things that I was not aware of or had overlooked. To help me select materials, she assisted in every step with flooring, plumbing fixtures, tile, counter tops, etc. She made appointments with their vetted venders and we would go together to make the selections. Linda had a clear understanding of my preferences and guided me towards making sound decisions. I was very pleased with the trades people who performed the work. Joe was the lead carpenter. He was meticulous and took great pride in his work. He did an excellent job of installing the new cabinets, casing work and trim details. Shawn was the painter assigned to my project, and again, his expertise and experience was evident in the finished project. Jorge was the plumber for the job and like the others, his work efforts were appreciated and his abilities added to the job success. These individual's main concern was to do a job I was pleased with and I never felt their extra efforts or time spent were a burden to them. Like their vendors, MSK have several years of working with the subcontractors used for the tile work, electrical, counter tops and sheetrock. They were all professional, timely and courteous. Communication throughout he project was outstanding. Curt was my Project Manager. Any e-mails, text messages, concerns, etc. were addressed and answered promptly. The work areas were always clean at the end of the day and construction debris was removed promptly. The project came in on schedule and on budget. MSK did exactly what they said they would do. I was very pleased with the results and would not hesitate to recommend MSK Design Build for anyone who is looking for a reputable company.

She was a pleasure to work with, gave us many options to choose from, steered us away from making poor decisions, respected our budget, valued our time, and was always a pleasure to talk with. We felt that Jackie took the time to offer advice throughout the project - and really showed an interest in how the final project would end up - we were able to send her pictures of ideas throughout, ask questions, and ask for advice. When we would mention we were looking for design or decorating ideas, Jackie would send us suggestions. The Kitchens of Diablo showroom is relatively small, but has an amazing number of ideas and samples in a very small space. And, it is always improving. It now has more products and design ideas than it even had two years ago. We felt that we could almost make all of our decisions from right in the showroom - cabinets, counters, hardware, etc. We also felt that when you hire Kitchens of Diablo, you not only work with your designer, you work with the entire design staff. Often times, we learned that Jackie would consult with her peers on various ideas - so you have the benefit of all of their experiences. You also have the benefit of being able to work with a firm that has a lot of experience in the Tri-Valley, where so many of the homes are similar. Jackie shared pictures of similar projects that she thought captured ideas we were thinking about. Sometimes seeing your concept really does help. Jackie worked very closely throughout the project with our Contractor to ensure that the ideas we discussed turned out as well as they did. We happened to work with Shawn Lober Construction - married to the owner of Kitchens of Diablo - a huge plus, however Jackie shared that she works with lots of General Contractors. This is another benefit of working with the professionals of Kitchens of Diablo. We think that the team of Jackie Alonzo, Kitchens of Diablo, and Shawn Lober Construction were the reason that our first major remodel project (our Kitchen) went so well and gave us the confidence to take on our three bathrooms. We can recommend this team without any concern whatsoever.

If you are serious about having quality cabinets and great results, I would highly recommend DVC!

We ordered cabinets from Diablo Valley Cabinetry in May and were told they should arrive the middle…read moreof October. No problem since I was doing the remodel myself and needed the time to be ready for them. Having heard nothing by late November though I called to check on their status. They said "they are not that late because they were due the middle of November. Wrong. They were due the middle of October. But I let that put-off slide and continued to wait. Still no call or explanation from the store. Finally, three months late, with still no apology or explanation from the store, the cabinets arrived the middle of January. The truck driver was supposed to notify the store that they were on the way with the delivery, but he failed to do so. No big problem there. As the boxes were carried in my wife checked off the box numbers against the shipping manifest and all of the boxes were there with numbers that matched the manifest. We now had 45 large boxes crammed into an eight-foot-wide small kitchen and stacked on top of each other. A few shipping labels were facing out, but most were understandably hidden behind and under other boxes. But other than being three months late with no explanation, this is where the screw-ups began in earnest. I notified the store that the cabinets were here, and the project manager, Yvette, came by a couple of hours later. We were handed two sets of installation instructions, one set for us and one for the installer. I had no chance to look at the instructions and Yvette didn't compare them to the shipping manifest before leaving even though we all stood amongst the boxes with shipping manifest in one hand and installation instructions in the other. After she left, I opened the instructions. The cabinets were all shown on a schematic with big red numbered boxes identifying each cabinet and its proper placement for installation. Out of 45 boxes NOT ONE NUMBER MATCHED THE SHIPPING MANIFEST. Before installation could even begin, this 78-year-old man was forced to crawl among boxes, finding shipping labels and part numbers to correctly correlate the box numbers to the mislabeled installation instructions. It was a time-consuming and back-breaking job which required several hours to complete. The next day I called the store and asked to speak to the owner to see if he would be willing to compensate in some way since they still had our deposit for counter tops to be ordered when the cabinet installation was complete. I have no major complaint with Yvette or other store staff that we dealt with over the last six months. Delays and mistakes happen. But when I spoke with Frank, the owner/president of Diablo Valley Cabinetry, his attitude was too bad, so sad. He wouldn't even apologize for the delays and major errors in the installation instructions, let alone agree to even modest compensation. At no point did he ever really apologize for the delays and errors that were made in this deal and refused to take any responsibility for the company that he owns and operates. He also told me that he would find out why there was such a long delay and how the installation instructions were so wrong and get back to me with answers. He never did. When I politely suggested we would take our $4,000 countertop deposit and go elsewhere he told me they would keep $610 of it because the material had already been secured. We were forced to stay with them or forfeit the $610. And they still weren't done with their costly and time-consuming errors! I was told to put down 3/4 inch plywood in advance of the countertop company coming out to measure and prepare the template. No problem, that part was my job. So a friend and I, since plywood is heavy and a two-man job, spent half a day buying, transporting, cutting and installing the plywood. Then when ROMARTS MARBLE & GRANITE, a subcontractor of Diablo Valley Cabinetry and a great company to do business with by the way, showed up I was told that our plywood had to be at least one inch thick instead of the 3/4 inch that Diablo Valley Cabinetry mistakenly told me. Back to Home Depot with my friend to buy plywood to transport, cut and install on top of the 3/4 inch. More wasted expense, time and work. A company is only as good as its management. In this case the management refuses to take responsibility for any of the mistakes made by the employees. This post will not surprise Frank because I told him I was going to write it. I waited until now because as I type it the countertop installers are here and putting in the countertops. ROMARTS has done a great job with the countertops and the owner himself spent 1 1/2 hours with my wife and me in laying out not one, but two design options for us to choose from. I would suggest dealing directly with them and bypassing Diablo Valley Cabinetry altogether.

I…read moreoriginally planned to reface our old cabinets or do IKEA cabinets with updated fronts from companies like Semihandmade, but ultimately found Bay Area Cabinet Supply to make more sense in terms of pricing, quality and time investment during the planning and design process. I walked through Bay Area Cab's Dublin showroom a few times to confirm they have cabinet styles and colors I liked, and the employees were very accommodating in letting me check out cabinet door samples to see in my actual kitchen. I'm so glad I did that, because the color we originally wanted ended up looking dingy in our northern facing kitchen. We went with their Icy Avalanche color, which is a cool toned grey, and have never loved anything more! The design and estimate process was simple and likely less time consuming than even wading through the IKEA kitchen designer yourself. Chrissy was patient, professional and very knowledgeable and made sure every detail was handled to perfection. She even hopped on the phone with our contractor a couple times to make sure every measurement was exactly correct. But her excellent customer service really came into play after our cabinets were delivered and we discovered an issue--due to a slant in our kitchen floors that weren't accounted for in our original measurements, our crown molding wouldn't fit! She and her sister, who heads their other branch, redesigned and supplied a new molding quickly so that our remodel wouldn't be too behind schedule. And if that wasn't enough, when my contractor mis-installed a drawer, Chrissy replaced the broken pieces for me immediately. For just the customer service level alone, I'm so glad I went with Bay Area Cabs. There are already so many small things that can go wrong in a kitchen remodel, and I was so glad to have the cabinets be headache-free! Finally, the quality of the cabinets is amazing. We've been in our new kitchen for about 6 months now and are happy to report that all our cabinets, drawers, shelves and doors are working perfectly. We're so happy we chose Bay Area Cab Supply for our kitchen and hope this review helps more people find out about this awesome family-owned company!
