In March of this year, our beloved oak tree toppled over and completely damaged our community fence, our pergola, and our deck. I had seen other reviews on Yelp and decided to contact them after having gotten other estimates as this was not a cheap project. . I went with my gut after meeting Jack and Ben, from the company. Their crew always showed up on time and they worked a full day. Imagine that! Jack was responsible for the actual design and Ben was in charge of construction. We worked with Green Group for a renovation that took about 2 years to plan and 4 months to execute. Tal Wasserstein was our project manager, and he was truly above and beyond. My friend also worked with Green Group for a remodel (his project manager has since left the company), and I can assure you that the project managers are not equal. Tal was incredibly patient and calm despite significant surprises which emerged during the course of the renovation (as I suspect is the case with any renovation). Every time he told us about an unexpected problem, he also offered multiple potential solutions, as well as his recommendation for what to do (with a clear rationale for why he recommended that course of action). For a first time home remodeler, this was critical and helped us avoid becoming overwhelmed when things behind our walls were not as expected (and if you've never done a remodel, let me tell you that this is often). He has tremendous expertise that spans paint, fixtures, structure, flooring, tiling, woodwork, and the permitting process in San Francisco. Tal was also noteworthy in how available he made himself throughout the project. We chatted him through WhatsApp multiple times a day at many different hours, and he always responded in a timely fashion (even if he was out of the country in a very different time zone). Green Group Remodeling completed an ADU conversion for us in 2023. While parts of the project went smoothly, we recently discovered a significant problem with the electrical work that raises serious concerns about quality control. This year, we discovered that the ADU sub‑panel had been wired with individual THHN conductors that were left exposed under the house instead of being run in a continuous conduit. This is not code‑compliant and created a safety hazard that required immediate correction. Consequently, we had to hire another electrician to replace the wiring with proper SER cable at significant cost to us. The situation was disappointing, especially given that this was permitted work that should have been done correctly the first time. We reached out to Green Group with photos, documentation, and a request for response. It has been more than a month and we have not received any follow‑up. The lack of accountability is extremely concerning. Based on our experience, we can no longer recommend Green Group Remodeling. read more

My husband and I needed to remodel our primary bathroom. We contacted the Green Group and Tiko V. came to give us an estimate. His presentation showed his passion for his work as he explained the process for the remodel. He had great ideas to help transform the outdated room. We hired Green Group and Tula (our project manager) for a large remodel project beginning in October of last year. Our scope included 2 full bathrooms, partial kitchen, deck expansion, structural work (we removed walls, added exterior window/door, moved an outdoor staircase, etc). We had our own architect, who we had known beforehand, that Tula partnered well with, and we also did use Green group's design services for the two bathrooms (the 3D renders were quite cool!!). Overall, we were happy with Green Group. For a project of our size, we were solving for some balance (as most would) of speed, quality, and cost. Green Group was somewhat on the more cost efficient side of the bids we received, and we knew from references that they can move fast (which was true). Tula was a great project manager and very responsive - we used WhatsApp and he seemed 'always on'. The people we interacted with working on the house were all very nice, diligent, left the place pretty clean. I also really appreciated Tula's suggestions on some of our design / layout choices (he was pretty proactive about things like "I think you'll want the shower valve here instead of here") and did really appreciate his partnership with our architect. We passed all the inspections smoothly. The one thing I would say is that I think as a function of having a big team and moving quickly, there was some room for improvement on attention to detail (at least from what was visible - painting, some of the carpentry / wood details, floor). Tula and his team did address them all after the project was done which is appreciated but something I would have hoped would have been more of a focus along the way. But main message with all of that is I would definitely recommend Green Group and would choose them again - and with Tula as our project manager!! read more

Tal and his supervisor visited our house on 2 separate occasions to give a quote on a large exterior remodel project to replace all our siding and rebuild a large deck. The whole process was very professional and thorough. We received a very detailed quote that was in the same ballpark as the company we eventually selected. Ultimately, we didn't go with them, because we wanted glass railings and the quote specified that we should provide this. It's intimidating to measure for something that could be upwards of $10k (in case we made mistakes!) and was a nebulous cost to us at the time (difficult to budget). read more

Needed a long overdue bathroom remodel. Researched a bunch of contractors, landed on the Green Group based on their great reviews. I wasn't disappointed. Right from the start, my project manager (Sheer Goshen) was a complete pro. She came up with a very competitive proposal, was a calm and steady presence, extremely flexible, made the process simple. She has both a design touch and a personal touch. Additionally, the designer (Maria) was great help in looking at materials, plus creating amazing 3D renderings. The final bathroom looked exactly like the renderings. Finally, the main sub and remodeler (Arturo Lares, owner of Bay Area Spartans Construction) is a fantastic craftsman. He's an expert at the complete mix (construction, electric, plumbing, tiling, paint); perfectionist, professional and fast. Can't recommend him and Green Group any higher. We had an old and unpermitted in-law unit that the previous owners built badly and was gradually falling apart. We solicited 3 proposals, and even though Green Group's was not the cheapest, we chose them, because Jacob, the project manager gave us good and practical advice. We then went to expand and renovate the in-law unit, retrofit the garage with sheet rock, new lighting and storage, and build a new deck and railing outside. Throughout the process and through challenges with the permit process, including the need to install sprinklers and a water tank, Jacob and the rest of the team kept giving us good advice. They were responsive, quickly correcting any issues and professional, making sure we were happy with the result. Note: this review is for our experience with an estimate appointment and what followed. We did not go under contract and have not had any work done by this company. Our estimate appointment was an unexpected experience, given the exceptional reviews. I grew up around construction and home remodeling, and we have family in real estate - we knew what would be entailed in the job and entered the appointment with a clear understanding of an appropriate range of price. We were given an estimate on the spot, which was nowhere near the expected range. Further, the information needed to provide an accurate estimate was not gathered (he did not check to see if a wall was load-bearing, appropriate measurements were not taken, electrical panels were not checked, code requirements were incorrectly explained, etc). All trust was lost with the heavy sales pitch, and a sudden reduction in the estimate (by more than 6K) after our interest dampened. The project manager followed up by phone the next business day to say that it sounded like the price was the only thing keeping us from working with them, and "maybe I can lower the price again." I expressed thanks and said we would be working with someone else, but this was not respected. The rep sent a text message afterward apologizing. The owner of the company contacted me today to ask that I remove this review or change the rating. Out of respect for his request, this review has been significantly edited. He also offered to personally come to our house to give us a new estimate and manage the project himself. For this, I am adding an additional star. It's clear they do beautiful, quality work - it's unfortunate that we did not receive an experience that would have allowed us to join the many who have given 5-star ratings. read more

We reached out to Green Group right around the Christmas holidays about a small bathroom remodel. They responded right away and were quick to set up an appointment to see the project and give a reasonable quote. Once we agreed on scope and price, they got right into the permit process with the city, which we suspected would be lengthy (8-10 weeks). The Project Manager Kim Golan kept on top of the city to keep the permit moving and visited the city in person to try to get faster response. We really appreciated that the PM was concerned for the schedule as they knew we had a hard stop for work in the household in May. Once the city awarded the permit, Green Group mobilized quickly and did a good job of protecting the interior of the house. The crew was efficient and worked fairly typical hours. The PM was very communicative and easy to work with. She helped with material selection and gave good advice. In hindsight, it would have been good to have someone more knowledgeable on plumbing check the parts we ordered before starting the job, as we were responsible for purchasing all finished materials including shower components and valves. We are not plumbers and ordered the wrong kind of valve, which wasn't discovered until installation time, when tilework was already completed. Ultimately we all came to an agreement, and we absolutely love our remodeled bathroom and new shower. Great craftsmanship and attention to detail (we had big tiles and sections of small mosaic tiles) for all components. The crew even fixed our bathroom vent to the roof, which was never connected before, so we appreciate they wanted to do things the right way. We can't wait for another chance to work with Green Group on our next remodel project! Great, professional experience overall. read more
