I had a great experience working with Josh from Red White & Blue Construction to put in a gorgeous shower, build a staircase to connect two levels, and help me turn my storage into usable space. Josh and his team were reliable, punctual, and extremely easy to communicate with throughout the entire project. They sent updates via email and text, and explained all the nuanced details in an easy to understand way. What stood out most was their ability to problem-solve and find solutions when challenges came up, especially when working with the city of SF, which is quite a feat. Josh was approachable, dependable, and always made me feel like my questions and concerns were heard. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy contractor. read more

We just finished a major home addition, kitchen remodel, covered patio, and HVAC modernization project with RW&B. I told Josh in our last conversation that I'll call him for the next one. I highly recommend them. There are some mechanical things about doing a major project that matter for your quality of life, on which RW&B is excellent. 1) The team is there every day. 2) Change orders are straightforward. 3) Specialists are scheduled promptly and are reliable. 4) Parts purchasing is well planned. 5) The job site is clean. 6) Communications are frequent and consolidated in the group chat. Where RW&B really stands out is design vision and finish quality. We took 5 bids for the project. We chose to go with Josh because in our first meeting, he took the time to inspect and understand the space and the opportunity. He translated our idea and improved on it--throughout the project. In the kitchen, he's the one who suggested moving the range to the other wall, freeing up the floor-to-ceiling pantry cabinets and built-in appliances we wanted. For the covered patio space, all I had was a shape and vibes. He took that roughest outline, built it out, made suggestions for the finishes, and designed the beam wraps which took it to the next level. We felt that he & the team shared our desire to build something that mattered. Living in the space now, we can't even remember the before-time. It feels so natural, and fits what we wanted exactly. Highly recommend Red White and Blue Construction. read more

RWB know what they are doing! We had a 850 sqft story addition done that needed basement retrofit, foundation upgrade, framing, plumbing, electrical, bathroom installation, flooring, tiling and detailing work. They have a diverse crew of experts and a very personable Project manager. Josh, the owner is in constant touch and guides the process along. The crews are also very supportive of their owner which shows their work culture. I would advise any one who is looking for a decent size project or a remodel to meet up with Josh and explore working with him. read more

We just completed a major home addition with Red White and Blue Construction and couldn't be more satisfied with how the whole project went. We changed our minds on a couple of things mid-build, something that can easily throw off a project, and RWB made those adjustments with minimal disruption to the schedule or budget. That kind of flexibility is hard to find. On a project this size, a few things came up along the way, and when they did, RWB was upfront about what was happening and worked to minimize the cost impact while keeping things as close to the original timeline as possible. Communication was excellent throughout. They're consistently transparent and proactive, and they follow up on anything that needs attention without you having to chase them down. What sets them apart is that they're genuinely invested in the outcome. They stand behind their work with a warranty, and it shows in how they operate. At this point we see RWB as a long-term partner. We have more work we want to do on our existing home and they'll be our first call every time. Highly recommend for anyone looking at a significant construction project. read more

We are happy with our remodel. We interviewed 5 contractors and Josh with Red White & Blue Construction was the first one that we interviewed. We liked Josh from the start. Josh is friendly, energetic, easy going and creative. We did a complete remodel of our kitchen, master bathroom, laundry room, a fireplace, flooring and the whole interior was painted. I even got my "Harry Potter" pantry! Whenever we encountered an issue, Josh would always say "no problem ". Indeed no problem, he was always able to figure out a solution. The house was all original, oak and brick all over. Now it's like we moved into a brand new house. His crew finished just in time for us to host for the holidays. We are still moving this back into the house and putting things away. The pictures will speak for itself. I will post some before and after pictures soon. read more

We had an excellent experience with RWB Construction on our bathroom renovation. Josh was the first person out of three we interviewed and he spent over 1h with me discussing design options and construction details. Of course, there are always some unexpected surprises when you open up an old house, but overall, the project stayed on budget and on time. I highly recommend this very professional company and look forward to making the rest of the house looks as great as the bathroom :) Bonus: the team took pictures throughout the construction and I can now review the astounding transformation in a little movie. read more

Remodeling is a tremendous pain. I know having done remodeling projects on 3 previous homes, and flipping 2 others. Our project was not small. Renovating a large kitchen (removing a structural wall to create an open concept)and master bath. Without a doubt this was the best experience out of all with Josh and RWB! Will you hit snags, yes. Can they be foreseen and prevented, no. Josh and the crew took all if it in stride. Every issue I had he replied with, "it's no problem, we will take care of it," and THEY DID! We found a good portion of the 2nd floor electrical was run through the wall we were removing, they took care moving it all (it took 4 days). My engineer goofed on the structural designs, Josh had a guy to fabricate the additional steel bracing that week. A portion of the cabinets had the wrong finish from the factory, they came back as soon when we finally got the correct fronts to install them. read more

I've got to say, out of all the requests that I've set out to various companies, this is the only contractor who turned down the project without even bothering to see the space, request photos, or at least a phone call to clarify the details of the project. I'm well aware these projects have minimums to meet, but it's honestly pretty disappointing to see a project dismissed based on a quick message rather than taking a moment to properly assess the full scope. read more

We were in real need of additional bathroom in my house with two growing teens and just one bathroom. However, I had a limited budget to build a half-bath. So, I looked for an existing space in the house that I could convert to a half bath. I found an under used utility room just big enough for this bathroom. I drew a rough layout for the new bath and sent the plan to few Contractors including Josh, owner of the Red White and Blue construction. Next, Josh came to my house to review the job siie and gave me a reasonable estimate. He took the time to explain things including permitting process and overall plan. I had a good rapport with Josh, so I decided to work with him. I sent him a list of things related to the project that I wanted to get done. Then, Josh followed up with a formal proposal. Just to be clear, I have some experience with remodeling and I know some of the building code. Prior to the start of the project, I wanted to change how the plumbing for the toilet was going to be built. Josh listened to my request and sent a plumber to verify that my idea for the plumbing was feasible. After his plumber verified the feasibility of my request, Josh agreed to implement my idea. Throughout the project Josh listened to my suggestion and worked with me to make the project a reality. Josh's team was very professional and they did a good job and cleaned up the place every evening after work. This was a small project, but technically challenging due to limited space and other technical constraints. Overall, I am happy with the finished half bath and happy that I hired Josh and his company red white and blue to build my half bath. Thanks for reading this rather long review. -Vin read more

We worked with Red White and Blue Construction in Berkeley on a full kitchen remodel that included removing two structural walls, adding a shear wall, and redoing the entire space. The kitchen now looks great and feels so much better to use. They gave us fair prices on all the change requests we added and came up with creative ideas whenever tricky situations came up during construction. It was a complicated project, but everything came together really well in the end. We're very happy with how it turned out. read more

We recently remodeled our bathroom and could not be happier. Josh and his team handled everything--plumbing, electrical, tiling, and installation--and the finished space is beautiful. One of the best parts of working with this company was having an in-house designer. Jocelyn guided us through showrooms, helped us stay on budget, and made design choices so much easier. The crew was professional and reliable throughout the entire process. We highly recommend them to anyone considering a remodel! read more

After talking to the couple of contractors, I am happy to say that I made the right choice with RWB Construction. Josh and his crew were tasked with remodeling my entire home and adding a master suite. The crew was great to work with and found creative solutions to any issues that we discovered along the way. They were respectful and attentive to my requirements. My project was completed on time, in fact a bit earlier than i anticipated, in just under 3. months. His foreman Alfredo and his crew even worked weekends and late nights when required. I am very happy with the final results and RWB construction was able to finish the project reasonably close to my budget. Highly recommend RWB Construction, great quality, timely and in budget! read more

This was a removal and replace of all bathroom tile in a 4th floor 1BR condo in uptown Oakland. Included floor, shower pan and shower walls, plus repainting of entire bathroom. It's a large shower with the footprint of the former bathtub. The guys did a great job and accommodated things that were important to me, including coming up with creative ways to work around and preserve the existing custom vanity. From what i understand, RWB does some pretty big jobs, and mine was small, but i i always felt like i was getting the attention that the owner of a mansion in the hills would get. Project Manager Albert and site supervisor Luis were a pleasure to work with - professional, respectful. The workers too. Luis even took care of the downstairs neighbor's concerns about tile debris flowing down through the floor (due to the way the building was constructed each unit is literally connected). As another reviewer commented, remodeling is a pain, especially in a 1 bathroom unit. Luis and the guys tried to at least minimize trhe time period when the toilet was "offline." RWB handled all of the permitting follow ups with the City, which was a load off of my plate. Their bid was a bit lower than another one i obtained. I highly recommend RWB. I was influenced by the 5.0 on YELP, and it was real. read more

We needed to find a general contractor who could replace or repair rotten wood fascia and T-111 siding, paint our 2-story house, install gutters, and insulate, sheetrock, tape, texture and paint a couple of rooms in a detached garage. We obtained several bids. While Josh's bid was not the lowest, it was competitive and we felt we would be in good hands after our initial meeting with him. The quality of work was outstanding. His crew was polite and skilled. They were responsive to requests and open to ideas as the work progressed. Josh was communicative and offered some really good advice that ultimately improved our project. He was onsite multiple times during the project and checked in with us multiple times during the project to see how we were feeling about the progress. The crew was punctual and reliable and finished ahead of schedule. This was the best experience that we've ever had with a construction company and we will definitely use RWB again for future projects. read more

Red, White & Blue Construction converted our detached two car garage to a one bedroom, one bath ADU. I spoke with no less than 10 general contractors since this was by far the biggest home project we had ever embarked on. We initially went with Josh and his team because their pricing seemed fair, the projects they were currently working on were impressive, and most importantly Josh was communicative and trustworthy. The project timelines, scope of work and cost were all fairly accurately predicted. There were minimal change orders for some unforeseen city demands. Josh was easy to contact and utilized whatsapp to communicate questions, photos, videos, concerns. Josh's team, led by Ricardo worked extremely hard, were friendly, clean and thorough. They worked on some weekends, extended hours into the night, and even on holidays, unrequested. We were even a little sad when the project completed because we were so used to the team being in our yard making noticeable changes. Josh was flexible and allowed me to purchase many finished materials and was clear on what rough materials were covered. We customized just about everything to our liking and were given great suggestions, regarding paint, cabinetry, fixtures, lighting, countertop and backsplash, and fencing. Red, White & Blue Construction was flexible when I added an accent wall and electric fireplace mid project. When issues arose, Red, White & Blue Construction promptly diagnosed and promptly fixed them. They tore down the subway tile in the bathroom and redid it, because it initially wasn't straight enough, even though I wouldn't have noticed and did not request the fix. Post project completion Red, White & Blue Construction has honored their warranty and has quickly fixed any of the few issues that arose. Our tenant clogged the plumbing. Red, White & Blue Construction fixed it for free the day after it was reported, even though it was the fault of our tenant.  The before and after photographs speak for themselves. We're extremely pleased with the results and would 100% recommend  Red, White & Blue Construction for any future project, especially projects large in scale such as conversions, additions and remodels.  Red, White & Blue Construction has given us a beautiful ADU that now provides monthly passive income as a rental and allows for future flexibility as a possible inlaw unit, or place where our girls can live in the distant future. Thank you Red, White & Blue Construction for the hard work and awesome results! read more

My wife and I met with 5 different general contractors before deciding to move forward with Red White & Blue Construction and we are so happy we did. Our project consisted of taking our kitchen down to the studs to come up with an entirely new layout, moving our washer/dryer to a separate part of the house and creating increased/new closet space in the primary bedroom. Josh and his team quoted us a timeline of 2 months before the project kicked off and they completed everything almost to the day. What we appreciated most about Josh was that he was hands on and even came up with some new ideas that ended up working better than our original ones, remained acutely attentive from start to finish which made us feel like we were his only client, he was honest in unexpected change orders that occurred while not pushing us to do unnecessary upgrades and his communication was 10/10. He really made us feel like we were taken care of throughout the project. We could not be happier with our new space and will definitely be using Red, White & Blue Construction in future projects. read more

Beautiful kitchen and bathroom remodel by RW&B Construction, Inc. Rating: 5 STARS The interior of our home was desperately in need of a major remodel. Literally nothing had been done to improve or modify the kitchen and bathrooms since the home was built in or around 1990. So in early 2024 we started interviewing contractors. It wasn't until we met Josh that we knew we had found the right guy. Josh and his entire team of workers at RW&B Construction were a pleasure to work with from the initial consultation to the very end. We were able to work with Josh and his designer Natalie and they listened to our requests, needs, and preferences, and they provided expert guidance throughout the design process. Everything was drawn and planned out beforehand, and then the excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail by the workers brought the vision to life. New tiles, new floors, new counter tops, new back splashes, new paint, new lighting, and new fixtures. The end result exceeded our expectations. We could not be happier with our kitchen and bath room remodel by RW&B Construction. Josh is a great communicator and kept us informed of what was going to happen on a daily basis. He was very fair and easy to work with when unexpected issues came up, and he accommodated several changes when obstacles were thrown at us during the project.
