We just completed a major home addition with Red White and Blue Construction and couldn't be more satisfied with how the whole project went. We changed our minds on a couple of things mid-build, something that can easily throw off a project, and RWB made those adjustments with minimal disruption to the schedule or budget. That kind of flexibility is hard to find. On a project this size, a few things came up along the way, and when they did, RWB was upfront about what was happening and worked to minimize the cost impact while keeping things as close to the original timeline as possible. Communication was excellent throughout. They're consistently transparent and proactive, and they follow up on anything that needs attention without you having to chase them down. What sets them apart is that they're genuinely invested in the outcome. They stand behind their work with a warranty, and it shows in how they operate. We are happy with our remodel. We interviewed 5 contractors and Josh with Red White & Blue Construction was the first one that we interviewed. We liked Josh from the start. Josh is friendly, energetic, easy going and creative. We did a complete remodel of our kitchen, master bathroom, laundry room, a fireplace, flooring and the whole interior was painted. I even got my "Harry Potter" pantry! Whenever we encountered an issue, Josh would always say "no problem ". Indeed no problem, he was always able to figure out a solution. Remodeling is a tremendous pain. I know having done remodeling projects on 3 previous homes, and flipping 2 others. Our project was not small. Renovating a large kitchen (removing a structural wall to create an open concept)and master bath. Without a doubt this was the best experience out of all with Josh and RWB! Will you hit snags, yes. Can they be foreseen and prevented, no. Josh and the crew took all if it in stride. Every issue I had he replied with, "it's no problem, we will take care of it," and THEY DID! We found a good portion of the 2nd floor electrical was run through the wall we were removing, they took care moving it all (it took 4 days). My engineer goofed on the structural designs, Josh had a guy to fabricate the additional steel bracing that week. A portion of the cabinets had the wrong finish from the factory, they came back as soon when we finally got the correct fronts to install them. read more

I've got to say, out of all the requests that I've set out to various companies, this is the only contractor who turned down the project without even bothering to see the space, request photos, or at least a phone call to clarify the details of the project. I'm well aware these projects have minimums to meet, but it's honestly pretty disappointing to see a project dismissed based on a quick message rather than taking a moment to properly assess the full scope. read more

We were in real need of additional bathroom in my house with two growing teens and just one bathroom. However, I had a limited budget to build a half-bath. So, I looked for an existing space in the house that I could convert to a half bath. I found an under used utility room just big enough for this bathroom. I drew a rough layout for the new bath and sent the plan to few Contractors including Josh, owner of the Red White and Blue construction. Next, Josh came to my house to review the job siie and gave me a reasonable estimate. He took the time to explain things including permitting process and overall plan. I had a good rapport with Josh, so I decided to work with him. I sent him a list of things related to the project that I wanted to get done. Then, Josh followed up with a formal proposal. Just to be clear, I have some experience with remodeling and I know some of the building code. Prior to the start of the project, I wanted to change how the plumbing for the toilet was going to be built. Josh listened to my request and sent a plumber to verify that my idea for the plumbing was feasible. After his plumber verified the feasibility of my request, Josh agreed to implement my idea. Throughout the project Josh listened to my suggestion and worked with me to make the project a reality. Josh's team was very professional and they did a good job and cleaned up the place every evening after work. This was a small project, but technically challenging due to limited space and other technical constraints. This was a removal and replace of all bathroom tile in a 4th floor 1BR condo in uptown Oakland. Included floor, shower pan and shower walls, plus repainting of entire bathroom. It's a large shower with the footprint of the former bathtub. The guys did a great job and accommodated things that were important to me, including coming up with creative ways to work around and preserve the existing custom vanity. From what i understand, RWB does some pretty big jobs, and mine was small, but i i always felt like i was getting the attention that the owner of a mansion in the hills would get. Project Manager Albert and site supervisor Luis were a pleasure to work with - professional, respectful. The workers too. Luis even took care of the downstairs neighbor's concerns about tile debris flowing down through the floor (due to the way the building was constructed each unit is literally connected). As another reviewer commented, remodeling is a pain, especially in a 1 bathroom unit. Luis and the guys tried to at least minimize trhe time period when the toilet was "offline." RWB handled all of the permitting follow ups with the City, which was a load off of my plate. Their bid was a bit lower than another one i obtained. I highly recommend RWB. We needed to find a general contractor who could replace or repair rotten wood fascia and T-111 siding, paint our 2-story house, install gutters, and insulate, sheetrock, tape, texture and paint a couple of rooms in a detached garage. We obtained several bids. While Josh's bid was not the lowest, it was competitive and we felt we would be in good hands after our initial meeting with him. The quality of work was outstanding. His crew was polite and skilled. They were responsive to requests and open to ideas as the work progressed. Red, White & Blue Construction converted our detached two car garage to a one bedroom, one bath ADU. I spoke with no less than 10 general contractors since this was by far the biggest home project we had ever embarked on. We initially went with Josh and his team because their pricing seemed fair, the projects they were currently working on were impressive, and most importantly Josh was communicative and trustworthy. The project timelines, scope of work and cost were all fairly accurately predicted. There were minimal change orders for some unforeseen city demands. Josh was easy to contact and utilized whatsapp to communicate questions, photos, videos, concerns. Josh's team, led by Ricardo worked extremely hard, were friendly, clean and thorough. They worked on some weekends, extended hours into the night, and even on holidays, unrequested. We were even a little sad when the project completed because we were so used to the team being in our yard making noticeable changes. Josh was flexible and allowed me to purchase many finished materials and was clear on what rough materials were covered. We customized just about everything to our liking and were given great suggestions, regarding paint, cabinetry, fixtures, lighting, countertop and backsplash, and fencing. Red, White & Blue Construction was flexible when I added an accent wall and electric fireplace mid project. When issues arose, Red, White & Blue Construction promptly diagnosed and promptly fixed them. They tore down the subway tile in the bathroom and redid it, because it initially wasn't straight enough, even though I wouldn't have noticed and did not request the fix. Post project completion Red, White & Blue Construction has honored their warranty and has quickly fixed any of the few issues that arose. Our tenant clogged the plumbing. Red, White & Blue Construction fixed it for free the day after it was reported, even though it was the fault of our tenant.  The before and after photographs speak for themselves. We're extremely pleased with the results and would 100% recommend  Red, White & Blue Construction for any future project, especially projects large in scale such as conversions, additions and remodels.  Red, White & Blue Construction has given us a beautiful ADU that now provides monthly passive income as a rental and allows for future flexibility as a possible inlaw unit, or place where our girls can live in the distant future. My wife and I met with 5 different general contractors before deciding to move forward with Red White & Blue Construction and we are so happy we did. Our project consisted of taking our kitchen down to the studs to come up with an entirely new layout, moving our washer/dryer to a separate part of the house and creating increased/new closet space in the primary bedroom. We had a failing retaining wall and steps leading to the deck in the front of our house. The previous installation had several awkward transitions between the deck, steps and walkway to garage. Albert and crew came up with a plan to create a landing at top of steps that lined up perfectly with the deck and walkway. It worked out very nicely.
