We had the primary en-suite bathroom renovated. The in-house crew were professional, efficient and knowledgeable. The owner Oscar Zacarias worked with me diligently to resolve 2 major build issues. The subcontractors were equally proficient and professional. The local suppliers recommended were all nearby (15 minute drives) and had everything we wanted in stock. Project took longer than anticipated due to matters beyond our control. Some miscommunication occurred because I do not speak Spanish and Oscar's explanations went over my head. Based on his previous high ratings, I hired Oscar Zacarias and his construction company to remodel four bathrooms. The experience was extremely disappointing. The contractor failed to complete the work on time, left areas unfinished, and demonstrated unprofessional behavior at various steps of the the project. He refused to install laundry hampers in the closet (it was included in the scope of work), hurriedly installed cabinets without alignment, left boxes/packaging outside the main door (for 1 month). Instead of taking responsibility, he repeatedly blamed me, blamed his employee and even the manufacturers for delays and mistakes. His lack of accountability and poor workmanship forced me to bring in another contractor to finish the bathrooms at additional cost and inconvenience. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Zacarias construction for any remodeling work. read more

Oscar recently finished a project of kitchen and bath remodeling for my house and I'm very pleased with the quality of his work, his professionalism and punctuality! I requested quotes from 3 more contractors back in November and finally picked Zacarias. Competitive pricing and more importantly Knowledge of the trade and transparency!! No lies, no cheating and no manipulation. The best thing is his sincerity and commitment to the work that he undertook. We started with a budget of 60k and finally decided to get a lot more done (close to 200k) just because we realized that Oscar knows the trade, has the right employees and he himself monitors all the work. No fluff of project manager, coordinator etc. etc. Even when all the work is done, he is still taking care of few additional things that we just mentioned to him later. He also promised that he'll stand behind his work long after the contract is over. What else can you ask for in a contractor? Please note that he is not a handyman, he runs a full fledged conduction and remodeling business which means his rates reflect the quality of his work. We bought an "as is" home in Lafayette, CA. After going through 2 other contractors with nothing to show for it, we were referred to Oscar through our interior designer. He was originally hired to work on one room that was being converted into a walk-in closet. What can I say, it's been over a year now and Oscar has worked on everything to remodel our home into one of the diamonds in Lafayette. He handled 3 complete bathroom remodels, created a laundry room, upgraded 2 bedrooms (including the master) and an created an office space. I dare say there's not an inch of our home that doesn't have his beautiful work displayed ... everything from tile walls and floors, to cedar wall treatments, beautiful paint finishes, mirrors, lighting, custom showers, even a whole house AC/Heating Smart system. And that's just the inside ... Outside, Oscar's job was even harder since our home was on a very steep lot and on a floating foundation, that had slipped. He handled all the permitting and application processes for us. The foundation is now top notch and he even did an earthquake retrofit. Our 3 decks are beautiful and now safely supported. We had a leak at our kitchen window and on Dec 29, 2022 we were lucky to have Mr Zacarias come assess where and how the leak was occurring. He was very knowledgeable about the stucco siding on the house and how to repair and prevent further leaking. He told us how to temporarily prevent further leaking at the kitchen window and we quickly followed his advice that same day. The following day it started raining and continued for 2-3 months without any leaking from our window. He really saved us. After the rains stopped, we had his crew patch the stucco, replace dry rot and paint the exterior of our house. They installed a beautiful new garden window and installed new flooring in a room with a heavy piano and pool table without us having to remove them. They did quality work, were always On Time and his staff was clean and courteous, skilled and competent!
