    Measuring my countertops!!
    Shelli H.

GM Marble installed our countertops and backsplash today. We chose them first based on the Yelp reviews, then because I felt really comfortable with the people here. I was impressed the entire way through! Their work is perfect! Even in my wildest dreams I couldn't imagine my old kitchen looking so fabulous!! Also, of great importance to me, communication was easy. Brian and his team fully deserve 5 plus stars! We are going to have them cut our leftover granite for a project my husband wants to do. Would use again and would recommend to everyone! Just fantastic!

Brian and his team came highly recommended by my neighbor who'd just completed a major high-end to studs remodel in Lafayette (we were about to do the same). I've flipped a handful of homes and dabbled in development in the past - the key to a great project are the people / vendors / partners you leverage. Brian consistently went above and beyond - I initially purchased 3cm slabs due to the complexity of the install - only to find out that my cabinet makers hadn't planned for it. Brian made some calls / pulled some strings and was able to swap out 3 slabs w/ his vendor (this speaks volumes to how folks in the industry see this company) - His scheduler and installers were on point throughout the engagement. My understanding is that Brian is a second gen stone and countertop guy - his dad taught him the ropes and did an absolutely great job. The install team came back to polish the counters once construction died down and even filled a small chip in a custom sink I'd purchased from overseas. When I tried to pay for their time they politely declines (several times). Guys, THIS is what it's all about - leveraging others to take the stress out of a traditionally complicated, spendy, and time consuming process. Cannot recommend this business enough, THANK YOU!

This fireplace slab is our second project with Brian and GM. A few years back they cut and installed a countertop for a bathroom vanity. It was a built-in - it had to fit between two side walls - so had to be very accurate. It has been several years and still looks great. The fireplace slab (the walls are not yet painted and there are drywall patches from other work we are doing) is a whole different level of work. Our slab is about 10 feet tall - which is very hard to find at the height. It took 10 people to lift into place. If you are looking for a great fabricator, GM is your place. If you are doing a slab and want further information, read on... For us, we did a heavy amount of research on slabs - both via social media to get feedback on pros/cons and research into fabricators. The biggest issue with slabs is that they crack in time - mostly, if not installed correctly. We contacted GM as we had great experience with them on our first project, but we also contacted many, many more. We contacted fabricators in the bay area that stated they did granite, fireplace slabs. When we looked at their work, they often had one or two jobs with vertical slab work. We only found two that had multiple jobs - GM being one of the two. If you are doing Slab work and you ask the fabricator about how they secure the slab, how they cut the opening for the fireplace, and if they do seams you will get a better example of their experience level. GM has quite a number of vertical Slab jobs they have done, maybe 7 or 8 (more?) in their portfolio. That may not seem like a lot but most have 0 to 2 that we spoke with (we contacted maybe 12 fabricators). Brian has a lot of experience with these type jobs and it shows when he discusses options. Depending on the type of fireplace insert you choose (electric or gas) you may be okay with an opening with 90° corners, but if you have a heavy slab (we did), clay soil (we do - lots of movement), and a gas insert (we do, high heat... electric fireplaces typically are show only and do not output heat), then how you approach the slab matters. We have eased corners in our opening, a horizontal seam to offset the weight and hidden anchors to secure the slab to the wall (really wooden framework/cement board anchored to the wall, not the wall itself). They also glue it, but the anchors assist. We also have side pieces to our slab that wrap the sides of the underlaying frame. These are mitered at 45° to the front slab. In person, it looks like a 3" thick slab and not that we have mitered side pieces. So if you are looking to do a slab, make sure you talk to Brian as experience matters on this type of not inexpensive install.

We have worked with Brian and his team at GM Marble & Granite on our recent kitchen remodel as well as our master bathroom, and have had exceptional experiences with every encounter. The team is friendly and knowledgeable, and committed to their customers having a great experience. For our kitchen, we selected slabs and purchased them, and the selection process was easy and straightforward, no high pressured sales tactics, just a team looking to ensure their customer gets what they want. And the countertops are perfect, just what we envisioned. For our bathroom, Brian suggested that we consider using remnant slabs on this smaller job, which was a huge savings for our budget, and the countertops turned out great! Installers were courteous and professional, the whole team is dedicated to excellence, and delivers a phenomenal product at an affordable price. I would recommend GM Marble & Granite for any job, big or small.

I can't speak highly enough about Brian and the GM Marble team! I have used them twice now, for a bathroom & a kitchen remodel. For the bathroom I had a specific (and a little complicated) backsplash idea, and Brian worked with me to make it perfect! Brian knew we were expecting a baby, and he was so kind to get everything done before he arrived. When the team arrived to install, the crew was extremely pleasant, installed everything quickly and was so clean! Also, they have a great selection of slabs and remnants at their shop to choose from, and they are able to source a ton of other options if you are looking for something specific. I can't wait to use them again for more projects!

Another phenomenal job by Brian and his team of installers. From start to finish he was there to walk us through the process step by step. I run a small handyman company (Robs Odd Jobs) but I know when to hire and sub out a project- even if it's at my own home! Brian's team were phenomenal. He hooked us up with some gorgeous and low maintenance quartz counters which are much higher quality than anything at granite expo (they use cheap Chinese quartz). His guys were always on time, protected the home, were polite and professional, and cleaned the house better than it was when they walked in. He worked within our budget. We shopped other places and the quartz alone was $8,000. He got us the counter tops, the demolition labor, dump fees, layout, material and installation ALL FOR LESS than what the material alone was going to cost us of the competitors. Highly Reccomend them to all our friends, family and clients of Robs Odd Jobs. We are a top rated 5 company and we only refer the very best! We hold all our sub contractors and referrals to the same high standard and we are proud to refer GM Marble and granite with the upmost confidence!

StoneCraft subcontracted out various portions of our kitchen remodel project but did a poor job of coordinating, overseeing and communicating with those subcontractors (Team). StoneCraft technically never completed the project not did a StoneCraft representative perform a detailed monitoring of the project as it progressed. Here are a few examples of StoneCraft's lack of oversight and follow through: The Team that demolished the granite countertop did not provide a schematic diagram so that the quartz installation Team would know the correct number of holes necessary for the sink area. They didn't account for the instant hot water dispenser and the associated hose. Weeks later a hole had to be drilled in the already installed quartz countertop. Unfortunately we had to purchase a new instant hot water dispenser because the demolition Team lost or threw away key parts of the old one. After the old granite countertop was demolished and the new quartz countertop installed our Bosch dishwasher no longer worked. It turned out, a hose was damaged during the disconnecting and/or reconnecting of the various hoses underneath the newly installed sink. We had to hire another contractor to diagnose the problem and to fix the dishwasher connections. The StoneCraft representative, Jarren, denied responsibility because, "StoneCraft didn't move the dishwasher during the project". However, StoneCraft, per the contract, removed and reinstalled hoses. The Team installed two electrical outlets that didn't work so they had to be prompted to return to fix the problem. The Team had to be called back to repaint areas of the kitchen ceiling that they initially painted, although poorly. The Team had to reorder the correct kitchen floor tiles twice, once because they brought the wrong pattern and a second time because they didn't bother to look in the boxes to notice the contents were not correct. Finally, the team delivered a pantry door sans a handle (only a hole). Jarren ghosted us so we had to hire a handyman to install a newly purchased door handle. Although hiring StoneCraft was a big mistake we learned a lesson but at least we kept the numerous emails that documented the above ordeal.

The process went very smoothly considering I had already purchased the range top, hood, and sink. I had already selected which quartz I want to use too. I was working with another company, but lost all confidence in them delivering. Submitted for the free quote and Jarren came out to do it. I was very impressed by the detailed analysis and design confirmation of my choices. He already knew how much quartz I would purchase and how I can maximize the material with minimal waste. Not a lot of vendors share this insight on a quote. In addition, I needed a cabinet modification. Switching from cooktop to range top. No one wanted to do the cabinet modification. This was right up Stonecrafts alley. They do cabinets!! Having experience with costs, he was within the range I was expecting, so I was happy to move forward. The installation schedule was shared and executed according to plan. At no point did I have to adjust my plans. The installation team was very professional. I am very happy with the results. I would recommend Stonecraft for your kitchen projects. At the very least give them a chance to earn your business. When I get to a bathroom refresh, I will give Jarren and company a call!! Thank you guys!

I would highly advise anyone to be aware of this, as it's not something Kitchens Unlimited shares with you when signing the agreement. In fact, Tiffany wrote "lifetime warranty" on our contract. It is meaningless and deceiving. I wouldn't wish this cabinet situation on anyone. It was a terrible experience that dragged on for an incredibly long time.
