I have to share an amazing experience that I had this morning. We are doing an addition and interior design is NOT one of my strengths. After spending countless hours at Lowe's, Tile and Decor, Granite Expo, I decided to go into European Tile and Marble in Lafayette. I was greeted by Emilia who was incredibly knowledgeable, kind, patient, and non-judgementally listened to my wacky ideas. She came up with samples that work within our budget and my color choices and gave me practical advice that I hadn't received with the other design experts at the places listed above. There was NO pressure to buy and it felt like she has all the time in the world to work with me. If you are doing a construction project and need tiles/marble for bathrooms/kitchens, etc. I would recommend stopping at first and save yourself from wasting valuable time at the other stores!!! read more

Great, extremely helpful team! Love their beautiful wide selection of tiles. Color is complicated and they were all good at it. Wouldn't go anywhere else. read more

As the owner of an award-winning design-build firm in Walnut Creek, CA, I'm thrilled to hear that European Tile and Marble has opened a second location! I've had the pleasure of working with Emilia and her incredibly talented and conscientious team for over 10 years, and I can say without hesitation that ETM consistently delivers excellence. Their product selection is exceptional, their showroom is clean and elegantly designed, and their staff is always willing to go the extra mile for our design-build clients. In the middle of a construction project, the last thing you want to hear is that tile is on backorder and delayed by weeks. That simply doesn't happen with ETM. I don't know how they manage it--but they do! And if we ever run short on tile, they reorder and expedite without delay, ensuring our jobs stay on schedule. When I was remodeling my own home, Emilia personally helped me find the perfect tile for our kitchen backsplash, along with a stunning 3D tile for our primary bathroom. Her expertise and eye for design are truly top-notch. Our three full-time designers love working with the ETM team and rely on them to help pre-shop for our clients--it makes the process smoother and more enjoyable for everyone. I haven't yet visited the new showroom, but I have no doubt it will reflect the same high level of customer service, professionalism, and design savvy that ETM is known for. Congratulations on the new location! read more

This place is so rude. I have never written a review like this but the woman who talked to me at the store didn't even lift her head up when I was talking to her, then was so rude. I have never seen customer service like that in my life. read more

Wow- what excellent and responsive customer service! The team at European Tile & Marble was able to find the tiles I was looking for, to match a blurry picture I found online of stone that was cut up with mixed patterns. They even were able to order them in longer/modern cuts. I will definitely make an appointment the next project that I have, because this store is very popular and the sales people always have customers to assist, but I was very appreciative that someone helped both me and my contractor on the spot, the 2 times we dropped into their store. We will definitely be back! read more

To sum it up, "Look no further than European Tile and Marble". They are, by far, the total package. I believe them to be the best in the Bay Area. Their selection is beyond belief, absolutely sure to please and it's just plain fun to imagine your space so many different ways. Lay out tiles in their shop, take samples home, take pictures, so fun. Once ready to begin narrowing down your choices Emilia and team are there to reel you back in, explain the pros and cons, best combinations and guide you to make the right choice for you. I didn't need to Google each and every choice I made, I had Emilia and her team. Having done several projects over the last decade with ET&M, they have always gone above and beyond. They are there for you throughout your project. You can depend on their advice, expertise and above all their patience. You might think all they offer comes with a high price tag, but I assure you their prices are in line and their knowledge is unsurpassed. Having recently returned to them as we start yet another bathroom remodel, I truly look forward to the whole process. My hardest decision of "Where to go and who do I trust?" has been made. Just great people to work with. Emilia is always so upbeat and helpful and we've now done a few projects with her with great success. Local, friendly and a great selection of materials. Thank you! read more

Friendly, great service. The place is a lot bigger than you think and packed with a ton of tiles! Really good selection!

The group of tile professionals that you will find at European Tile & Marble, is simply, off the charts. I have worked with this Lafayette showroom for 10 years and the longer we all work together, it's clear to me why they are so successful. Their knowledge about tile on their showroom floor, where to find elusive materials, and the fact that they continue to bring in new and interesting materials on a regular basis - helps to keep my projects fresh, while classic and unique. Emilia and her team are consistently willing to put the time in to each and every potential project that walks through their door. Whether you have a tiny powder room floor project or an intricate primary bathroom or even backyard gazebo, ET&M is an amazing source for not just tile, but for amazing customer service and know how. Emilia and her team are not just selling tile, their goal is to help designer or consumer, feel good about their project, acknowledging every possible scenario to help you envision your tile project. I have worked with several tile showrooms over the years in the greater Bay Area, and my go to - no matter what I am looking for - is aways European Tile & Marble. read more

We were referred to European Tile & Marble by our contractor/designer for a primary bathroom remodel. So glad they referred us. Emeilia is wonderful to work with. We told her what style we like and she quickly took us into their showroom and as we talked she was pulling out samples for us to look at. As we narrowed down what we liked and didn't like, she took the ones we liked to the front and that's where we really looked at the samples and discussed the color scheme. When we settled on a few that we thought had potential, she said for us to take them home and lay them out to really see how they look in daylight and nighttime light. No pressure. Once we settled on the specific tiles, she then helped us to pick the color grout to use. Placing the total order was so simple and Emelia was so accommodating. Now that the tile installer is installing the tiles, he discovered that we are short one tile for the baseboard. A quick email to Emelia and she quickly confirmed that one piece is ordered and should arrive shortly. What great service! Highly recommend European Tile & Marble and especially working with Emelia! read more

We're thrilled with the selection, service and pricing. Our new bathroom is perfect! On top of that both our contractor and we forgot a key item which the staff offered to pick up from the distributor for us on their way to the shop and did not charge us for their time! + Selection + Pricing ++ Service Do not expect warehouse style showroom this is a small independent dealer--this is a much nicer and more personalized experience. We which we had more kitchens, and bathrooms so we could work with them again. :) read more

A lot of product packed into a tight space. I knew what I was looking for in terms of looks and they were able to quickly bring samples to me, allow me to take them home in my space and responded with pricing and availability in less than 24 hours. Great customer service and friendly folks too. Very quick service and the warehouse team was very helpful. They received a pallet from the manufacturer that was not stacked ideally. The warehouse re-arranged the pallet and examined for damage which was immediately refunded. Fair, honest treatment. read more

When I was shopping for a backsplash for my kitchen two years ago I landed here on a referral. I knew then when I got the opportunity to remodel my bathroom this is where I was coming. The selection and beauty of the tiles here was breathtaking. Well I got my wish, I just remodeled my guest bath Emilia was so helpful and talented with a great eye for design. Service was awesome. This is the best place for selection and help. read more

European Tile saved me during a remodel. The tile contractor we were working with did a horrible job on our bathroom tile and Monica was quick to refer us to someone else who did an amazing job on our kitchen back splash. She also helped choose and design my kitchen back splash. I am so thrilled with how everything came out. Monica is professional and talented. I would highly recommend her and European Tile and Marble. There is a huge selection of tile, stone and grout. You can take as many samples home with you to better help with the decision making process. read more

When we went all the way to Lafayette for selecting tiles for a major remodeling project, initially we were skeptical about the choices we'd have at European but were pleasantly surprised to see see a huge selection and be greeted by their wonderful in-house expert, Emilia. We tried a couple of tile stores in Dublin since our property was in Dublin but either the pushiness of the sales people or their indifference made us walk away. Glad we found this hidden gem. Since our project was a major remodeling, we bought several different types of tiles and met Emilia at least 4-5 times over the period of 6 months. I am posting the pictures of my complete projects but here's my overall experience: I couldn't have found a better place for all my flooring needs. Emilia went above and beyond the scope of her responsibility. She patiently picked our main floor tiles, designed the layout, selected our bathroom and kitchen back splashes and designed all layouts for us. She is a talented designer. Yes, I did have an amazing contractor but when his tile setter had a family emergency, Emilia's husband sent his own crew to meet our deadline to curb the delay. We are extremely grateful to Emilia and her husband for taking care of all our needs, patiently sitting down with us and designing and redesigning things so that the outcome would be gorgeous. A picture's worth 1000 words--so putting the pictures here. read more

Attractive and wide wide selection. Have found them super helpful and easy to work with. Always happy to help quoting prices, suggesting contractors. They do not do installations themselves though. Best bet is to have your own team and work with ET&M read more

If there was a prize for the WORST customer service, this place would win hands down. I have never had an experience like this where someone doesn't want business. You'd think in this economy that they would actually like to have customers come into their store. Not here. First of all, we weren't sure they were open since there was an Open sign with no lights on. When we got closer, we saw that the door was open. We came in. No one was there. We called out and saw a red shirt in the back. I then heard someone say, I'll turn the lights on and sighed. When we asked him to show us a specific tile, he looked perturbed. I asked him if he was able to help us and he said, "oh, I am in the middle of something very important" and walked away. Unbelievable. read more

The best person to work with is Emilia. Friendly and knowledgeable. Look nowhere else. Unfortunately some of the other people in the office were lazy and unfriendly. Emilia gets 5 stars. read more

Please don't go into European Tile and Marble. We found them in the early days and adopted everyone there. Emilia and Monica are wonderful, efficient, lovely people to work with. They have saved me countless hours of time searching for the perfect tile. Emilia always knows. Plus, as a designer, I can't say enough about how stock is kept up, how clean it is, and how I never have to worry. Other people are clearly spreading the word too, so STOP IT. We want to keep them all to ourselves. ;) read more

I am a designer and have used almost every tile shop in this area. I have worked with Emilia as a supplier and my main showroom ever since she bought this business. Her showroom may look small at first glance, but it is shocking how much they have in such a small space. However, Emilia's service is the #1 reason why I bring all of my clients here. Emilia knows her products well, she knows her vendors well and stays on top of every detail. She can collaborate with me on designs as well as calculating quantities. I never have to worry about someone keeping track of my orders and if anything goes wrong, they are on top of the issue before I even know about it. I can't recommend this shop enough! read more

Went over today at 4:30 to look at tile for a fire place remodel. No one was on the floor so we shouted "hello." A woman's voice called "hello" back to us but no one emerged. After another few minutes, my husband poked him head into the office area and saw a woman at her computer. She saw him but didn't respond in any way. We did see a young man sweeping the floor with his back to us. After another three minutes, we left. Stock might be great; prices might be reasonable but service makes or breaks a company and ET&M's service stinks. read more

This place is simply the best. I've been to every tile shop in the East Bay and did a half a dozen tile projects personally at my house in Rockridge. It's an art form for me. Just moved to Lafayette and am now embarking on the first of probably a half dozen tile projects. Emilia and the staff here are helpful, patient and pleasant and the selection is surprisingly large and very nice. Took a few samples home as well before zeroing in. If you've been to many tile shops "pleasant" is never a term associated with tile professionals. Do yourself a favor and come here. I also came here based on the positive reviews and was not disappointed. read more

We had a very good experience with European Tile & Marble. High quality products, great selection, delivery on time, the sales guy (possibly owner) Benci was knowledgeable and enthusiastic, but definitely not pushy. Different people want different amounts of support from sales people - he was a good fit for us. Looking over the reviews here that are negative, I do agree that they need to do a better job of managing their signs, to note when they are closed for lunch, and when they are open. It's a good idea to call ahead here. read more

New Owners!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This place is 1000% better than it used to be. The new owners Emilia and Vic are incredible. Their knowledge and desire to be helpful is very welcomed after dealing with the previous owner. Great customer service and wonderful selection in the showroom. Love the tile that looks like a carpet/rug...very cool. read more

Worst customer service I have experienced in a long time. I walked in, the representative (don't know his name, he never introduced himself), asked how he could help us. I told him I was looking for a particular brand, he said he had another line that looked like that. I asked to see it, he showed it to me and then asked "what is your budget?". When I told him he responded with "You can't afford anything here" and then turned away. My friend and I just looked at each other with dismay. I wouldn't buy a pencil from these folks. Anyone that deals with public knows that you DON"T EVER TELL SOMEONE THAT THEY CAN'T AFFORD TO SHOP at their store. I may not afford his product but my clients do. It didn't help that he smelled like booze. Maybe that is why he was ticked, we interrupted his cocktail hour. read more

What a difference new owners can make! I can't recommend European Tile & Marble enough. Our first project was a small laundry room and Monica and Emilia spent so much time searching for the tile that I wanted, helping me make decisions, and helping me with the design that I actually felt badly! They definitely had the attitude that no job is too small. Vic installed the tile as soon as it arrived, installed it quickly, and did a perfect job at a very reasonable price. Our second project was a bathroom and again Monica and Emilia spent a lot of time with us. Monica suggested some patterns that I wouldn't have chosen and spent a lot of time drawing the designs and emailing them to me. I ended up going with her suggestions, as I figured I would trust the expert. I am SO glad I did! The tile pattern in the shower looks amazing and everyone that sees it loves it. We had a lot of delays with the bathroom project which impacted Vic (installation) over and over. He was very patient and did an amazing job working around our other subs and issues. He never complained and I was so thankful that he was so easy to work with. He came up with some new ideas on the fly and had great attention to detail. European Tile & Marble has great selection, design and installation capabilities, and wonderful people to work with. Looking forward to our next project..... read more

This is by far the best tile shop around. Great selection, very nice and knowledgable people to help, and no heavy pressure to make decisions. Amelia spent a really long time helping me figure out the perfect accent tile for my project. She knows her stock well and quickly learned my preferences, so she showed me lots of great options. It was so much more helpful than any of the other places in the area. Big thumbs up!! read more

NEW OWNERS! Please ignore the customer service comments in the previous reviews because the new owners are VERY helpful and nice! The man who owns the store is also an experienced tiler, so he can give insight that most stores cannot. This tile store has the biggest selection I could find in the Lafayette/Walnut Creek Area. And they have reorganized it so that it makes better sense now and you can actually find things. I wanted some Ann Sacks tile, which you can only see or get from their showroom in SF, and they got me samples and are able to order it for me! This was really going out of their way. read more

I should have started here first! The ladies here are just fenomenal. Knowledgable, pleasant, patient and with a big smile on their face. I came back too many times, taking samples back and forth and there was never any pressure. They were even willing to give me advice on other bathroom questions I had. They spent hours with me and then some more when I brought my husband in on a Saturday. They stayed past their closing time so we could make a final decision. One of the tiles I have chosen had a better price in a different tile shop and they were absolutely happy to match that price. Please disregard the old reviews on the site pertaining to the old owner. I rarely take the time to write a review but after dealing woth a lot of people while remodelling my bathrooms and kitchen I had to share my very positive experience with Emilia and Monica. Outstanding customer service from start to finish! read more

I have worked with Emilia (and Monica) on several different projects over the last 4+ years and they are the best! Both ladies are extremely resourceful, smart, efficient, and truly a pleasure to work with. One of the best tile places ever! I usually shop around, but I always end up back at European Tile and Marble when I am ready to order. A++ Products and Service. Thank you ladies! read more

Good luck getting any help if you don't look like a contractor. I gave up and left when the staff first completely ignored me, then acted like they were doing me a big favor. This has been a recurring theme in my search for tile: a woman alone is apparently not worth the staff's time, most places. Do I need to be a contractor, or bring a "husband"? read more

OK, OK, if you are a California softie, this may not be the place for you, but it you want some European flare (and just enough attitude to make the experience fun), this is the place! We ordered over 3,000 square feet of tile from European Tile & Marble. They knew their product, they beat the price of their competitors (we shopped a total of six stores) and they delivered this large order one day ahead of schedule. They understood our needs and were very responsive. Highly recommended! read more

European Tile & Marble is simply the best. I am not exaggerating when I say that this was one of the best retail experiences I have ever had. Emilia & Monica are friendly, knowledgeable, and have a great eye for design. Emilia worked with me to find the tiles that were just right for our project and budget -- never any pressure, just plenty of good ideas & helpful information. She also keeps a "library" of tile samples on hand, and was so patient as I made good use of them to figure out what really looked best in our space. :) We visited quite a few other tile/flooring places before finding ETM, and in my opinion there's just no contest. If you're looking for a great selection of gorgeous, quality tiles and someone creative to help you make an informed decision, just head straight to European Tile & Marble. It was truly a pleasure, and we absolutely love our new bathroom floor & shower! read more

This is the absolute best place for buying tile and/or marble! We had to redo a small bathroom and I was dreading having to go out and pick out tile...I just knew it would be a long pain staking process! We discovered European Tile & Marble upon our visit to the next door restaurant Giardino (delicious Italian food), so my husband and I decided to start here. I am so very glad we did! Amelia assisted us and within an hour we were done...we also received a quick eduation about tile and grout! Amelia is absolutely awesome and is incredible with color and design! This is the only place to go...we will be back for a kitchen project next year! Thank you Amelia...we are excited to complete our project thanks to you and your help! read more

I highly recommend European Tile and Marble Co. Emilia was patient, creative, knowledgable, and generous with her time. I highly recommend that you visit European Tile and Marble first when you're shopping for tile. Monica was an absolute delight to work with throughout my tile selection process. Not only does she help you pick out your tile, she will sketch out and suggest different layouts for the tile in your space. We recently remodeled our bathroom and with Monica's help, I was confident that we had chosen the right tiles and proper layout for the room. I visited with Monica several times during the several months up to our remodel, and she was always so helpful with suggestions and patient with me as I changed my mind several times. Our bathroom looks amazing and I could not have done it without Monica's help. We have another project coming up involving tile, and I look forward to working with Monica and European Marble and Tile again. read more
