Actually it's zero stars. My friend and I walked into this business on Monday, 8/30. She is having her kitchen and a bathroom remodeled in her home. I was interested in bathroom cabinetry for my home. We wanted to asked a few questions regarding their products and services. The man and women inside the business sitting behind their desk in front of their computers chatting, saw us come in and put their mask on. We stood in their eye shot for about 2 minutes waiting for some kind of acknowledgement. But neither one of them acknowledged us. No, can I help you?.... nothing! How rude! We left! This review is for customer service only, not cabinetry products. I met with Shirley when pricing out vendors for a kitchen remodel that included all new cabinets. She took the time to meet with me early on a Saturday morning, worked to get me a bid, layout, and design by Sunday, and was very easy to communicate with via phone and email. We ultimately chose another cabinet vendor, due to door style and color choices, but Distinctive Cabinetry's prices were competitive and very reasonable. I would highly recommend working with Shirley -- she was patient and very hard working. read more

Our experience with these jokers were the worst. Shirley Meserole was also bad to do business with. The owner came out and miss measured numerous cabinets when we paid the deposit for a kitchen remodel. We were supposed to get a ship date 2 week prior to shipping, never happened. I had to call and was told maybe 2 weeks. 3 week later I called and got OH there here, you need to come and give us a check before you can get them, which I had to go to the GC and get a check and try to coordinate all the delivery when I was going out of town for the following week. When we got the cabinets numerous cabinet were wrong size, with 1 of the being 17" too short. Shirley basically said "sorry you did pay attention to the drawings" 4 of the cabinet were the wrong size. They did not include enough scribe for the trim and the quality of the cabinets were not great. The owner finally came out and saw how far off his measurements were, and ordered "filler" pieces as a fix, and he override Shirley's response of "not my problem". Don't ever waste your time with this fly by night company. It costed us time and money to have the installer custom fit/fix/doctor up the bad product from these guys. read more

Previously going to couple of places, I was left with a lot of unanswered questions about kitchen cabinets and I felt helpless. Craig at Distinctive Cabinetry helped me with everything, bringing examples from his past experience, bringing in his design ideas and accommodating our unique, sometimes eclectic design ideas. Craig was able to give his thoughts on any thing we put out there and simplified our choices. Craig was also able to work within our budget and called out places where he cut the design choices to fit the budget. Craig was thoughtful in getting extra trim for us knowing the complexities of our kitchen. Everyone we met at Distinctive cabinetry were courteous and friendly. We felt so well taken care of. Btw, the kitchen is coming out exactly as we envisioned. It is imperative to have a good designer when you work on a kitchen remodel. Not someone who says "it is up to you... it is your choice" you go to a designer to hear what they think about option A vs option B and learn about pros and cons (things that you would never have thought of). Customer service was very poor. Walked into showroom and nobody bothered to ask if assistance was needed. Eventually I found somebody to help. I was told they were going to give me a quote by Friday, then the whole weekend went by and no quote. Sales rep was out on Monday so no quote till who knows when. We the showroom was called and told "hey where's my quote" they angrily snapped back and said "somebody will get back to you". Looks like another local business who has enough money and doesn't need mine. BTW, getting ready to do whole kitchen remodel next year, looks like they won't be needing all that $$$ as well. read more

I highly, highly recommend them! I worked with Sherry Redler on my kitchen project and she helped me from the beginning to very end. She is very patient, responsive and is an expert in this field. I went back and forth on so many things and she was so kind and informative during this entire process. Being honest, I feel she was even more helpful than my contractor was in providing quality control while the job was being done. In addition to this, anytime I emailed her, she got back to me quickly and she was incredibly helpful through this entire experience. I will add photos after final completion. Traffic was so bad getting there from San Mateo that we didn't make it before 5. We called on the way and Steve agreed to stay open a little longer for us. I regret having to post this, but experience says I should inform others. BEWARE owner Steve Ross, due to his ATTITUDE! My experience with him was totally contrary to favorable views expressed by other YELPers. What began as promising in-store discussion on 7/9/2016 about quartz slab (for shower & vanity) and custom cabinet, degenerated drastically via emails and a phone call on 7/26 and resulted in no deal. Whereas many businesses understand that the "customer is right," not so with Steve. Despite my providing overview & measurements, personally and via email, he denied this. Subsequent review of my messages shows that, in fact, I did provide pertinent dimensions; he either never saw this or just didn't read it. In phone conversation, Steve questioned doing what I planned as to shower surround, despite my having seen it in several showrooms and at an area fabricator (who/where, he practically demanded to know). My contractor has affirmed my plan, saying it is common and not an issue. Being in the business as long as Steve has, why would he not know this? I was never clear why, but it seemed Steve wanted to keep all quote details private - showing only a total price. My concern, that he would not grasp, was I wanted to ensure that all aspects of the project were reflected, including sales tax. He never got there with me, and refused to work through the items with me. Beware any vendor that treats the customer this way! When I asked about the fabricator (previously queried in my emails), he practically attacked me through the phone, asking why I needed to know that. He clearly did not like that I had asked a question unreasonable to him! What is so sensitive that this should be protected? Then, despite circumstances that made him interested in quoting after my visit to the store, he said he thought he did not want to bid - insufficient profit for him. Then why bother to give attractive initial prices, although incomplete? Maybe he got cold feet about his aggressive prices, and he trumped up excuses to back out? I thought we had overcome all this when we concluded the call, with him committing to provide email quote for two principal project components. That did not happen, and I have moved on to other vendors. Steve's overall attitude was shocking, and I don't see how he does business successfully that way. He was unwilling to see or pay attention to my message details, and he was extremely "short" in his conversation to the point of being rude. Forewarned is forearmed! read more

I was referred by a neighbor and so glad I worked with Distinctive Cabinetry for my first ever remodel, of our master bath and converting old style closet to walk-in. They drew up floor plans, met with us to gather feedback and again for revisions to get to a great plan that better uses the space. We ordered our vanity from them, and they were really helpful in selecting among so many materials and finishes plus countertop material. It's not often I give such a bad review but my visit today was a waste of time. The sales lady was not with anyone but she acted like our presence was bothering her. She wanted us to pay $350 for a "design consultation". I would have gladly paid that if she would have given us 5-10 minutes of quality time and information. We were literally given the "bums rush" and left in less than 5 minutes. She recommended we visit Pintrest and Houzz to get ideas. Little did she know, we had a $50K budget for an office suit (2 rooms) and a library for our law practice. We ended up going to Benicia and were helped by a lovely young woman and they are coming out to see the space and start working with us. Cost - zero. Value of service - priceless. read more

We were shopping for a new quartz kitchen countertop and stopped by Distinctive Cabinetry. After being ignored for about 15 minutes, we left. No other customers were in the store and the 3 designers were all just focused on their computer screens. Someone should have at least acknowledged our being in the store even if they couldn't help us at the time. Very poor customer service. read more
