Tries this business out twice. First time took home two samples. The salesman stated the tiles had the same name but were from different companies. Picked our favorite and returned the samples to the store to order. Was extremely direct with the saleswoman about what we were told about the same name, and to make sure it was the right one from the specific company. She flippantly said yes, she understood. They never called when it was ready, so I had to call them. It took them a couple of calls and hours to realize my order was in, but many of the tiles were broken. Went to pick up, and sure enough, it was the wrong tile. They had separated the broken ones for replacement, but still found several broken ones they had missed or were trying to pass off. Longer story, but they eventually made it right. Gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried again. Again, no communication. Each time we called, we were told it would be here in a day or two. Several times, we were told they couldn't provide an update because the manufacturer was closed on the East Coast. This was after we were told the tiles had already shipped. Shouldn't they have a tracking number if they were telling the truth? Again, they did not call when the tiles came in, and we had to call. Sure enough, nearly all the tiles were broken in transit. They could not expedite new ones or provide a concrete eta on replacement after we waited nearly a month for the first tiles. Then, when we asked for a refund, they would not provide one until they got their refund from the manufacturer. I'm sorry, that is your bridge to cross; my business was with them. We are currently redoing our entire house. We visited several stone and tile business to select tile and flooring for our home. I live in the area and happened to drive by Coliseum Tile one day. Let me start by saying they have an amazing selection of any tile you can imagine. A locally owned small business that provides professional and one stop shop for all services. We were helped by Rachel! Let's just say she is truly talented and amazing! My husband and I are so undecisive and wanted everything just perfect! We have a baby and honestly didn't have time to do all the picking and choosing. Rachel guided us through the ENTIRE process. She made a very stressful project so smooth for us. Let me say that again she truly made an extremely stressful project SOOOO SMOOTH for us. We started off with Rachel helping us choose Hardwood Flooring (Riva) She helped us pick the color and the grade. She gave us samples to take home and test out until we picked the right one. She made us walk back and forth on their second floor until we felt we had chosen the right grade. A couple days later she helped us design our 3 bathrooms... from tile selection, recommendations to slippery vs non slippery to color combinations. She did it all! She helped us numerous times until we got the right color tile! Let's say we probably made 5 different design changes for every bathroom and about 50 trips into the store and she was extremely patient with us! Finally, we redid our kitchen and she recommended we visit their other store in Pacheco to do our cabinets. We ended up buying (Medallion Cabinets) and from their other location. Rachel again coming in to save the day helped us pick our quartz and backsplash. I highly recommend Medallion Store to anyone looking to remodel their home. Downhill... I made an order with Jaime. She emailed me tile was in and i said great. Came in on Sat during business hours and then they said warehouse was closed and I cannot get my tiel. Nowhere in our emails or phone conversations was this mentioned to me. It's a 30-40min drive for us to come back empty handed. I called Jamie and asked why she did not relay this message properly. This could of saved us a lot of time. She said there are signs all over the showroom stating this and that I should of known and it's my fault?! I was a fan of Walker Zanger for a bath remodel from 6+ years ago. I have now moved on from WZ after a couple of failed attempts at choosing tile with them for more recent projects. Their customer service (CS) is really lacking but I stuck it out bc of the beautiful although pricey tile (CS goes down further when they find out you are interested in the clearance tile). Anywho, bc of this experience I've been in search of a new resource and was recommended Coliseum Tile. Quite surprised that this is the first review. Daisy has been with them for years & is awesome at helping put together tile for a project. She is your go to person! Hakum was also very helpful & PATIENT in handling my numerous phone calls after we discovered there was a shortage of tile by 2 pieces due to a project change. He was able to round up these pieces at another distributor and save us a week of wait time!! Their prices are also very competitive & they were spot on with estimating delivery times. It is well worth the drive to visit Coliseum Tile for the amazing selection of glass, porcelain, & stone! Walked in. Made a friendly comment about the smell of the nearby KFC. (This is called "rapport building.") Got a whole big ole lesson on what is or is not fattening. That's ALL I got. She never even stood up. Three employees were sitting at their desks or talking to each other, and not one of them asked me if they could help. When I left, the KFC expert asked, "You didn't find anything you liked?" To which I replied, "I didn't get any HELP." We are moving and have an immediate need for 1500 sq ft of wood and tile flooring. I have not done this in a lot of years. Am I supposed to KNOW what I want? Went to Carpet One. Don't place any orders with them-- they will send you wrong materials and when you reject it, they will charge you restocking fees. I ordered hardwood floors-- gave exact name of what I wanted. What I received was very different-- same manufacturer, different name. The look was very different too-- it was brown vs gray that I was trying to order. First they tried to charge me 25% restocking fee. When I fought it, they decided to settle on $550. Pretty dishonest and greedy. Also they will make you wait for an hour at least. As a designer, I should have known better than to try and design my own bathrooms. It took me 4 months of looking at tiles at every location I could find in a 50 mile radius before I finally landed at Coliseum tile for the last 2 months of my search. I have the absolute pleasure of working with Niko. He was so patient with me. I went back and forth to his showroom at least a dozen times. Each time, for the most part, pointing my design in a different direction. He was knowledgeable of all his products and if they did not have something I wanted to see, he ordered it without a blink. One thing that really pushes me away from flooring and tile stores is how pushy the sales people can be and how they want a crazy deposit each time I borrow tiles. As a designer, I know that each sample is free. I know that all you have to do is reach out to the manufacture and they will happily send you a sample. I appreciate that with all the samples I requested to take home there was no deposit required. I returned all samples and exchanged them for new ones regularly. In the end, we ordered then picked up our tiles within a week. One of the tiles had more variation in it than expected and Niko quickly presented a solution which remedied our problem in less than 24 hours. I highly recommend working with Niko specifically and their prices were great as well! read more

I had a very good experience with Nico at Coluseum Tile. I knew exactly what I wanted so it was a very straightforward ordering process. Their prices were significantly lower than the other places I looked at for the pre fab counters. There was some confusion here and there and I had to make a few extra phone calls but I blame this on my situation. I live in LA and had to do almost all the job via telephone. I had specifics on the what I was looking for, but their customer service was so horrible, I didn't even bother spending more time there. After searching many different tile stores, we were very surprised with the price differences for the same exact tiles, and found Coliseum very competitive with selection and pricing. We have used two other tile stores in the area, and no complaints, both were excellent. For our new project, a small half bath, and a fireplace refinishing, we happened to have driven past Coliseum Tile, in amongst the auto stores on San Ramon Vally Blvd. We had not paid much attention before, but decided to go in on a whim. It is a small store, but wow! it is curated like an art gallery. They pack a lot into the store, and yet, it does not feel cramped--in fact there were about a dozen people being helped, and we were able to browse casually. No matter what your taste or style, they have something for you. When I went back with measurements and to revisit some of our choices, I found still more options. At this point, help was needed, and Daisy is a dream -- she was busy, but so friendly, helpful, and even steered me to some of the clearance options. She put up with my indecisive eight or so choices, and helped winnow them down to three. Eventually, we had laid the tile out on the floor, and a decision was made. For the fireplace, Mieten took my measurements, and plotted out what we would need (stack stone), and then took me over to their warehouse, and we loaded up the car. Their service was excellent, warm, friendly, and considered. My first stop for any future tile projects. read more

After I was soured in the fact that WZ didn't want to give me any discount off the full retail price a search for a new tile place began. After stops to several other shops in the East Bay, I went to Coliseum Tile (they have a second location in San Ramon). I knew exactly what I wanted and they beat everyone with their prices.
