Had a great experience using Gil's Carpets to replace all of the flooring in our home. We used LVP plus carpet on the stairs. Frankie was wonderful helping to pick out the product and carpet. Stephanie came to our home, measured and also helped with the LVP samples we were considering. Carlos and his crew were fabulous, moving all the furniture and then moving everything back when done. The baseboards were cut to frame the stairs, carpet pattern matched on each step of the stairs, it looks like a new home. I never post negative reviews, but dear Lord!!!! This company is a joke! I used them on 2 separate occasions, my first experience was marginal, but that was mostly due to the customer service specifically speaking from Gil the owner himself. He was RUDE and patronizing, but the product was pretty good; Not a deal-breaker. The second time however was a NIGHTMARE! Did I get the same negative, rude, hostile attitude from Gil, yes, but did I get the same "okay" product? HECK NO! I was charged a premium for cheap, flimsy, damaged material. It appeared as if I got all the scraps from a previous job! The product didn't match, it was damaged AND the installation was so sloppy that I would have been better off having my blind neighbor install it! I called in to explain my position to see if we can work something out, and when I spoke to his wife Stephanie, she just laughed and said "good luck trying to get it fixed! We don't need your business!" I was shocked! Okay that was bad... but 6 months later, my floors are buckling and because of that there is a mold issue!!! A complete nightmare!!! What's with the attitude? This place must be rolling in the dough and not need business, because they definitely didn't want mine. Frankie made sure I left with a bad taste in my mouth. The snarky comments and lack of respect was very apparent. I'm honestly shocked at the level of customer service I was provided here. Unhelpful - is it because you think we're not serious buyers? If so, what an unfortunate way to run your business. No call or follow up at any point even after expressing interest in getting installation as soon as we decided on a carpet. Additionally, regardless of you and your company's stance on mask wearing, is is DISRESPECTFUL to have a service member come out and come into a customers house without one, nor have them ask if you'd like them to wear one while in your home. We needed to have our carpets replaced on the stairs and decided to do the whole downstairs as well. we went with LPV instead of carpet. Gil's Carpets was so EASY to work with and very helpful in finding the right colors and materials. Prices were very competitive. There was absolutely no back and forth, product and install were exactly what was promised. Best part was the guys who installed our floors and molding did an AMAZING job. So clean, professional, detailed oriented, hard working. The molding around the stairs was very tricky because of the shape of our stairs and it came out perfect. I've been torn for a few years over writing a bad review since they have so many 5 star ratings. But I noticed another reviewer had the same issue with no resolution. DON'T BUY CARPET HERE! I originally found Gil's because of the 5 star ratings and I needed to redo flooring in a 2600 sq ft house prior to moving in. I wanted to avoid a big box store and give my business to a local company. I got a few estimates as soon as escrow closed and selected Gil's because of their wide selection, ability to get floors installed before move in and the perceived good customer service. I ended up doing 4 different types of flooring. I had laminate wood flooring installed on the main level as well as tile and a bathroom of linoleum. The main level flooring was installed properly by two employees who arrived daily in Gil's vehicles, wearing Gil's shirts and were professional. For the upstairs level I went with carpet and upgraded padding. It looked decent after install, just not what I expected and it had a few spots with tacks or nails sticking up and lumps. Gil's sent out someone to try to correct that. I also was disappointed they put no transitions between the carpet and the tile flooring so it looks odd with loose bits of carpet but they said "you didn't ask for transitions." Odd to me since downstairs they put transitions between the laminate and carpet area and the laminate and linoleum without me asking. But whatever I can live with that. During the first year there were lumps in master bedroom carpet that were hard and pokey when I stepped on them barefooted. I let it go and lived with it. Also during that first year I started to notice wrinkles forming in a couple spots. My bad for not calling immediately and seeing if they would come out and correct it. But life and work etc got the better of my time and I ignored the wrinkles as they got worse and worse in every single room even in the middle of a closet. Visitors to the home within the first year would ask when I was having the carpet replaced! I was truly embarrassed to have to say it is brand new carpet thinking I had made a big mistake and chosen a bad type of carpet. After year 2 I had a contractor who was doing remodeling of the home tell me it was poorly installed carpet and to call the company to come fix it. I started looking online for causes and solutions to the issue. I've owned homes for 20 years and had carpets installed with no issues nor ever seen wrinkles and waves in carpet. I contacted a carpet stretching company and the owner of that company was professional and honest. He gave me a bid to fix my mess of carpet but was appalled at the poor install and said I should contact the company that did it for repair instead of hiring his company because it should not have wrinkled so badly in 2 years. At this point (yes I procrastinate) it was a bit over 2 years I pull out my contract with Gil's to see if there's any guarantee on workmanship etc. There's nothing on there. So I call and see what they can do to help me. I had nothing but positive experiences in past dealing with Gil and Stephanie and expected them to at least be willing to speak to me on the phone or come out and take a look at the problem or possible defect in the carpet. I was open to any suggestions to resolve this. Instead I got a rude woman on the phone whose name I don't recall. I explained it to her and she said she'd talk to Gil and have someone get back to me. Instead of Gil or Stephanie calling me back, the rude woman gets back to me and says I waited too long to call. She wouldn't say the time frame I should have called within, but I guess over 2 years was too long. I should have called sooner, my bad. She basically was very rude told me no, then said well they can come out but would charge me by the hour to look at it and it's very expensive and they are very busy so the date would be scheduled out months. Hmm interesting, I can call and get a free in home estimate from Gil for replacing floors right away but to come look at their poor install they want to give me an inflated price with a date months out. Clearly they just want me to go away. I also confronted her on the fact that the carpet install was "out sourced". Which she denied. The guys who installed it arrived in vehicles that were not Gil's nor did they wear Gil's shirts. In fact one left behind a shirt in one of my rooms that said Carpet One San Ramon. She denied this. I only write this review now because I'm tripping over the wrinkles in the carpet it is that bad. Hard to see in pictures but I have wrinkles in all the rooms. Sorry this is so long but tripping and falling over carpet is irritating! I expect at least 10 yrs out of carpet not 2-3 years. Now I'm shopping to replace the carpet and found companies that guarantee their work for the lifetime you own the carpet so this won't be an issue again. If you want carpet skip this business! read more

I have got to give a BIG shout out to Gil's carpet! First off Gil is very pleasant to talk to ...attitude is HUGE for my husband and I! We had some unforeseen problems after removing the tile in our house....Gil didn't try to charge us an arm and a leg! We had really non leveled floors that they were able to make leveled! We had a deadline we needed to get our floors done by and Paul and Joe were extremely flexible on making sure we made our time frame! They definitely paid attention to detail and did an AMAZING JOB! Everything was smooth from start to finish with Gil's carpet. We replaced about 1000sqft of carpet, tile and cheap laminate with luxury vinyl and couldn't be happier with the end result. From the very first meeting Stephanie, one of the owners, let us go home with as many samples as we wanted and gave us plenty of time and space to make a decision. Once we made a choice she put together a clear and competitive quotation for us. The next week, the installation crew was at our doorstep. The installation crew we had, Damien and Ricardo, did phenomenal work for us: the floors look great, the finish is impeccable, they are organised, courteous, work fast but well, and they are clearly not cutting any corners. Gil is very nice and came to do the estimate himself which I liked. He was also very helpful in helping me decide between 2 different flooring. He even recommended the cheaper of the two for my home which built instant trust. My complaint is with the installers. You could feel the floors shift and click every time you would step on a certain part of the floor. The lead came by to check their work and I heard him say, is this tight enough? And then they laughed and said, "it will be fine for 10years." I was also paying in cash for a discount. I heard the lead tell them that Gil did not want them giving the cash to his wife or he would never see it (I guess she works in the show room). They all howled with laughter. Very unprofessional to talk like this in a clients home. Despite the clicking, I loved the floors! Everyone complimented them and thought they were real wood floors. Fast forward 2 years later. We moved and I had the exact same floors installed in our new home. No clicking. No shifting. You could tell immediately these were installed much much better. Never having had hard flooring before I had nothing to compare to. Once I had them installed for the second time, I realized they did not do a good job. To be fair, I never called to complain.
