Shipley Pool Service has a new owner, Herb, and he's great!! I needed the water in my hot tub to be drained and refilled and of course scrubbed clean while it was empty. I was in a bit of a rush to do this as I was having house guests a few days later. Herb didn't complain at the last minute request. He showed up the next evening after he'd already worked a full day and did a wonderful job. I'm very happy. Herb has also implemented an app so that I can see online what gets done to my hot tub every week. I am delighted with the service from the new ownership and you will be too!! read more

Shipley cleans the pools at my rental properties and does a great job. Their techs are friendly and show up on time. The new owner is quick to respond when I have an issue. If i could say 0 stars I would. John Shipley is NOT responsive & his worker broke my pool sweep motor. Mr Shipley did NOT take responsibility for this & was & IS very unprofessional! I thought about taking him to small claims court & decided not to because I was so angry. He did not respond to replacing it, repairing it, no response at all. I bought a jacuzzi last August for my rheumatoid arthritis. I had the hardest time getting all the chemicals right. The water would always get cloudy and it seemed like it never had enough chlorine. It got to the point I wasn't using it as much as I needed and the place I bought it from was useless. They would send someone out and it went right back to the way it was. Plus they charge $250 a month for weekly service! Then it somehow got contaminated and the place i purchased it from doesn't handle that. Shipley sent someone to clean it out and flush the pipes and they come weekly to check the chemicals and it's been crystal clear every day! Somehow I think I got a defective hot tub and when Shipley cleaned it out it solved every problem I ever had with it. Plus their rates are super reasonable. read more

It's taken me a while to get around to writing this review but wanted to make sure I did. Contacted Shipley Pools early June because my pool pump had stopped working. Had contacted 3 other pool companies before and was told by each that "sorry but we're so busy we couldn't get to you for at least a couple weeks" and although not what I wanted to hear but I understood. When I contacted Shipley Pool John the owner and his son came out like the next day. He looked at the pump and said definitely needed repair but it was a discontinued model so I had 2 options. Try to get a replacement motor and repair or get a whole new pump and John said he would send me an estimate for both. After contacting him a couple times he finally sent me the estimates about a week or so after. Of course the replacement motor option was least expensive so I signed that estimate and was told he would order it and should be able to install in about a week and he would keep me updated. After about a week I started contacting John directly either by voicemail or text trying to get an update on when he would be able to install. When I did get a response which was far and few between, was always told we're working on it but due to supply issues, Covid issues and otherwise, not sure when. I even suggested replacing the pump with a new one if he was having difficulty getting a replacement motor but no response. After about a month I gave up and started contacting some other companies. Fortunately I was able to find one that able to come out and replace my pool pump within about a week from the time I first contacted them. I do not recommend contacting this company unless you ok with very poor customer service and dealing with someone who never responds and is a complete flake. At least if he had told me he couldn't help me after he had come out and estimated my repairs, I wouldn't have liked it but at least he was being honest. To tell me he was still trying to help fix/replace my pump and then never respond was much worse. read more

I have interviewed and/or hired about 5 pool companies in last two years. I hired and fired 2 within the first year. Then I used online contractor website to find others to do one-off projects -- none did maintenance for pools in our area (only big short-term projects). We were doing maintenance ourselves -- it was costly and we were terrible at it. When we got algae as a result, I desperately reached out to one of the contractors and begged for recommendations for maintenance companies in our area. He referred me to John Shipley at Shipley Pool Service. John didn't have a strong online presence but he was very responsive to phone and email, and came quickly to resolve our problem. I could tell immediately that he knew his craft well, he was easy to work with, and he rapidly made our pool gorgeous. His prices are great too. I hired him for maintenance and I've been thrilled with his performance. Our pool has never looked better. I highly recommend this company. read more
