We were looking for a new company to do our weekly pool service in Walnut Creek. A friend suggested her neighbor's business Skim N' Dip. The reviews seemed good and I was prepared to be a little persistent as some reviews indicated. I was pleasantly surprised with what followed. Mark returned my call the next day and I found them very transparent about their fees and what is covered and what is additional in their various service plans. They also wanted to know about the equipment I had and asked me to send pictures, which I did. The day I sent pictures, Steve stopped by to check out the pool and the equipment and answer any of our other questions. We found that 2 other people on our court were already their customers even though we are 10 miles from their business. Their prices are very fair and they offer a discount if you pay several months in advance. So far, I think the service and transparency has been outstanding. Very highly, highly recommend!

I had to go over the lighting fixtures and base of the fountain to get the parts that were crusted on. He found the pump was not working and needed to be replaced. He ordered one and replaced later the next week. I found the new pump had rust all over it and questioned whether the pump was new or not. He said it was a defect and needed to be exchanged with the manufacturer. I asked for the invoice for the purchase and he stopped responding. He was supposed to leave a jug of descaler and he never did. Ultimately I am convinced he installed a re-manufactured pump instead of a new one, and charged me the full amount regardless. I was happy with his service but wish he would have been up front about what he was doing and not try to hide behind a remanufactured pump. I had more work to give him, but this experience leaves me unable to recommend his work.

Sparkle came recommended by the previous owner when we bought our home in April 2022. And Sparkle has serviced our pool since then. The guys who do the weekly maintenance keep the pool perfect. They have a high standard and are quite personable. When our sweeper pump failed, John guided us through the warrantee process so we could get a free replacement via the extended warrantee on our system rather than the one on the pump (which had expired.) This saved us over $900. Further, because it was under warrantee, another pool service company that services that vendor got the replacement installation reimbursement from the vendor, not Sparkle. So all good for us, and nothing but a satisfied customer for Sparkle. Sparkle also helped us get automatic cover problems resolved, first by trouble shooting the cover themselves and then guiding us how to work with the pool cover vendor. We did contract with Sparkle to replace our Deck-o-seal when it weathered. They did an excellent job. Bottomline, if you want a high-quality, reliable pool service company that can do the everyday upkeep well and resolve the bigger problems quickly and cost effectively, hire Sparkle Pool and Spa Service. He could hear the stress in my voice and offered to come over, outside of business hours, to put our minds at ease. When he showed up, he was kind, prepared, informative, respectful, and reassuring. Not only did he address our current concern, he brought something else to our attention that needed service. We paid over $500 for a pool inspection and the inspector didn't indicate that this unexpected expense would be in our future. Not only did he express concern, he was able to back his claims. He said our pool filter cartridges needed to be replaced and we asked "how do you know?" He said the filtration system has a louder than normal, high pitched sound, that will go away when the cartridges are replaced. My husband and I were like ehhhh and he offered to show us. In his regular clothes, he manually opened the filter and pulled out one of the cartridges. They were filthy! Discolored and beyond their usable age. He said he could be back in two days to replace them. We decided to hire him for the job. He was prompt, swift, and did not try to upsell us on a high end filter that has the same lifespan as the generic ones. I asked him about other repairs that may be needed and he simply said "these are all nonissues, just relax and enjoy your pool." We appreciate his honesty, kindness, and willingness to bring issues to our attention that we would have otherwise not been privy too. I 1000000% recommend him for pool repairs.
