We bought a used hot tub from Spa Mania about 2.5 years ago. It was lemon from the start. The water has completely drained from it randomly multiple times. The control panel that was supposed to be "replaced" before it was delivered was covered with ill-fitting plastic that has fallen off so there's a hole in the side. We could have found a hot tub in similar condition for free on Marketplace but instead we spent several thousands on it, thinking at least we'd be covered if there were issues. We asked Don at Spa Mania to replace an air injector and replace jets that were not working properly. We told him we had plugged an air injector with cork temporarily, but that it had another leak somewhere on the other side. He quoted us $2000 to put in a new control panel, fix the leak, replace the air injector, and replace the jets that were not working. The spa was located in an area about 90 minutes away. We were in no rush, so he said he was delivering another spa to that area and would pick ours up and bring it in for repair then. We were surprised at how promptly it was fixed when he called and said it was ready for delivery on July 28, 2023. He said the existing control panel was fine, so he did not replace it. We were still charged $2154.64. He did replace the air injector and he had attached a plastic sheet on the bottom to seal it off from rodents. When we briefly tried it after it was delivered we noticed that he did not replace any of the jets, not even the one that was obviously missing the center part. We called and asked that he order the jets that were not replaced and he said he would. The next time we used it we noticed it was wet on the perimeter. The plastic sealing the bottom had covered up the fact that it was still leaking. We called and let him know. When we hadn't heard from him by October 13, we texted again and asked if the replacement jets had come in, and inquired about when he would come to fix the leak. He responded with, "I will be there next week." He did not show up. We texted him again on November 3 and he replied, "You need the find the leak when we had it on blocks for days it was good." Our last conversation with him was on January 11, 2024, when he told us that he was really busy but would get to it when things settled down. We didn't hear from him again. He never even gave us the jets he supposedly ordered. My 2015 hot tub had started leaking. I did all the home remedies with no luck and had just about resigned myself to replacing it. Then my wife found Donn and Spa Mania on line, so I drove over to visit him. A few weeks later (in early Nov), my hot tub -- after living on blocks at his shop for a while -- was back in place, good as new. It's now early March and still no leaks. I had a repair done to a leaking light on my Hot Sorings tub. the water had dropped a few inches and I could see that y it t was coming in from the old light. I had a technician come out to asses it and he said he ordered the parts. I did not hear from them for over a month and when I called the owner said that Toussette left and he would come out. A month later, Don , the owner showed up finally after I called numerous times and he replaced the light and said fill it up the next day. BTW he left debris in the hot tub and old caulking and left me to clean it up the mess he left. I did and the following day the water dropped12 inches and there was a worse leak than previously. I called and reported this and he came back several weeks later after I reported that I could not use the hot tub. He never returned my calls and when he did he said he would come by and was a no show every time. Finally he came and put a little caulking around the light and showed up when I was at work and did not even have the courtesy to call to tell me what he did! I called and finally got someone on the phone and said try filling it up again...same leak from the light! When I called after several calls he finally emailed me that it is not the light which is a bold lie and refuses to take responsibility for his sloppy work. I am done with this place and will pursue a refund for work not done! This kind of disrespect for customers is intolerable. I was patient but this guy to give him a chance to fix the problem and he blew me off. I would stay away from this place as he took my money and did not complete the job. He is unprofessional and I have loss use of my tub over several months. Another reputable company came out and confirmed the problem and fixed it. High-quality, beautiful tubs from the best brands out there that they refurbish and upgrade with all new jetpacks, motors, etc.  We had been looking for a quality-brand hot tub (as all the slightly lower cost tubs offered at the big box stores have terrible reviews of performance/breakdowns/leaks etc.) and we were pretty much priced-out.  But Donn at SpaMania was super-helpful: we told him our budget and what we were looking for, and, within a week he got back to us with the exact tub size and brand we were hoping for, right on our price-point. This place is horrible. I tried to purchase a hard-sided hot tub cover from them. Spa Mania came out to my home two different times to measure size. They still didn't have what they needed to order so I brought in my soft cover for them to get the exact measurements. I waited and waited for the new cover to arrive for months. Never heard anything. Called many times to follow up with none of my calls returned. Since they didn't answer my calls, I went in person several times to settle matters but got the run around each time. Bottom line, they never covered my cover AND they LOST my soft cover that I lent to them for sizing. They didn't even bother to offer to reimburse me for the cover they lost. I had no cover at all. Horrific service. We bought a refurbished spa through them and its had a leaking problems. They were out twice before and it was ok for a while then started leaking again. I called over 4 weeks ago and was told that someone would be out end of that week beginning of the next. Nothing. We have called them several time since and crickets. You may see other reviews for Don and his crew that are subpar - we've had a similar experience after buying our hot tub back in 2015 from them. The other guys that work there are awesome, but Don's in charge and much of what the other reviews say are true re the huge lack of follow through on Don's part, and non-communication/responsiveness overall and story-telling. If you want to buy a tub from them, they do have good prices, but that's about it: We purchased our discount tub in 2015 and everything was delivered as ordered. Upon purchase Don told us if we ever wanted to sell it, he would buy it back from us at half the price we paid ($1300 - we paid $2600). However upon installation they damaged the tub (it had to go up a slight incline and up a few steps) on the wood veneer and promised to fix it but never did - not a huge deal but one of the first red flags. They did arrive one time for a scheduled appointment and fixed one or two things, but the few other appointments we set up to fix the other things they were a no show and when we followed up, no sorry, no return call. More red flags. In 2017 prior to our move, we were trying to sell it privately with little luck and were time constrained. We called Don and he said he'd come pick up the tub and fix the few things and re-sell it, and give us $1100 when he sold it. We wanted the promise in writing, but he didn't want to give it to us in writing. So not only did the price go down ($1300 to $1100), the deal was done on a handshake. We never heard from Don after that and we didn't follow in a timely manner (but that shouldn't matter, right)? We are definitely seeing red! Last month, we finally followed up with Don. You have to go into the store in order to speak with him, and you're lucky if he's there. Otherwise, he will not return calls or emails. We spoke with him for 30 minutes. Apparently he "lost" our information (although it was on the purchase receipt), told us he had no intention of selling our tub because it was "too old" and his business doesn't sell tubs that old anymore and "gave it to an employee." He also said the employee was using his own tub and our tub was sitting in the said employee's garage. Just doesn't add up. We asked him why he took the tub in the first place when he had no intention of selling it, and did say he "shouldn't have taken it." When we reminded him of the deal, he said he "didn't remember the exact amount" he promised. He then offered to give us back the tub and we could sell it. We already have another tub at the place we moved, so didn't want it back. We wanted him to make good on his deal to us. We did our best to negotiate and got only $400 back. I just love my new (refurbished so perfectly it's really new) hot tub. These guys, Don, Aris and Toussant are a great team. I picked out my tub, we set a date and they came just as they had said they would to deliver, install and take away my old tub (plus some extra debris from my cleanup) with great energy and competence. My tub is on a hill and it took some ingenious engineering as well as strength and determination to get the new tub up there. I have an old Hot Springs Spa that quit working. I went to Spa Mania to look at their products and the owner, Don Toussant suggested that I replace the heater circulating pump. He came out and replaced the pump and everything worked well. He charged about $420. 6 months later, the same problem. I drove out to Spa Mania to look at his used spas then decided to replace the pump myself. The pump's bearing were shot. The manufactured date on the pump was 04/2004. Don replaced my bad pump with an old used pump and charged me for a new pump. Don is a nice guy face to face but I would never do business with him again. read more

Wish there was a zero star! Do NOT buy any hot tub from this shop. The used hot tub I bought had rat shit and urine throughout the bottom of the underside of the tub so when u turn in the jets/blower the entire tub smells accordingly. There was no cap for the drain. The pump was not bolted down. The temp sensor was just floating around in the mechanical area. The pump broke within a week and the owner said he would come check it out but then ignored phone calls and texts. The pump electrical connection had no cover which is a major electrical hazard. Hopefully people will read all the reviews about this shop as I now see many other people have had the same problem!!!!!! Please feel free to message me if u have any questions. I hate writing bad reviews, but I am SO disappointed in these folks that I don't know what else to do. I went in last October and put a deposit on a refurbished tub. I was told I could get it delivered by Thanksgiving. They gave me the runaround, ignoring my calls and then just saying others came first, until they finally brought it on December 30. However, the did not bring the cover that I had paid for, or the owner's manual. After numerous calls and no response, I guess I am just out the $200 I paid for the cover and need to buy one elsewhere. I've tried to be patient, as of course things changed quickly for companies specializing in home services over the pandemic. 2 stars because I got a good tub that I like. That said, their follow-up customer service gets D- . My tub had problems with jets. They came out and fixed it (as far as I knew) ... until a few months later, wads of duct tape starting floating around my tub. Turns out the 'fix' was using 1/2 roll of duct tape, rather than actually fixing the problem. I have tried for 10 months to get them back out here. They don't return calls. I am really thrilled with the hot tub and service I got from Spa Mania! To be honest I was just a little apprehensive when I checked Yelp, due to some of the less than stellar reviews, but I'm happy to report that my experience with Don and Elizabeth was NOTHING like the negative reviews, and I would recommend them without hesitation. My short story: I've been dreaming about a hot tub for most of my life, but I've never really had the money, and since I'm a renter, I never thought that a tub was a possibility until much later. When a friend let me know that smaller, cheaper, portable tubs exist, well, it was like lighting a fire in my brain. Unfortunately, "cheaper" still meant like $4000 and up. So I started searching on Craigslist and eventually stumbled upon Spa Mania, Don and Elizabeth's excellent service. For $1200 (which is still a lot of money, of course, but we're talking about a HOT TUB here!! These things can be REALLY expensive...) they hooked me up with a fine refurbished tub, with brand new controls and motor, and delivered it for free on top of everything! Now, please understand that he and Elizabeth delivered to our little rental house in El Cerrito on a Saturday evening. I'm sure there's a hundred other places they might want to be, rather than working, but they were legitimately friendly, warm, knowledgeable, laid-back, and all-around really decent people. Now I have a beautiful tub for a price that I could afford, and I am in heaven. If anything goes wrong with it, it came with a guarantee from them, and I have no doubt that they'll fix it in a snap. One last note: some of the reviews here talk about Spa Mania or Spa Warrior or seem to think that them changing their name is somehow suspicious or indicative of something bad. Well, honestly, they could call themselves Purple Spa Monsters, and I wouldn't care. The bottom line is they have cheap hot tubs that work, and they deliver, like, anywhere, and they're friendly and reliable. Also - and they didn't talk about this, but I think it's worth mentioning - buying something used and refurbished is a pretty great thing to do, not just for your pocketbook, but also for the environment. That's right 5 stars. As in, excellence. Great product, even better service. Let me 'splain. We searched the internets for a new hot tub that fulfilled our hot tub needs and met our hot tub budget. But we have caviar tastes on a hamburger budget. So - we began searching the classified ads, the pennysaver, the flea markets, the highways and byways.... nothing. And then, of course, the Craigslist. And there was Don and Spa Mania, advertising just what we wanted, right in a price range that we could afford. I called, and Don told me that it had already been sold. "But come on by, we're right off the 101 in Novato! We've got all kind of tubs here!" And he did. We dropped in, and sure enough, Don had just gotten in a little 3-person Spa that seemed like it would be perfect. $2400 and out the door. "This is like an $8000 tub. You guys are lucky, I haven't seen anything this nice through here in a while." I wasn't sure I believed that this was a unique opportunity, but I did believe that it was a good tub, and cheap - so we bought it. And that would have been 3 or 4 stars, but what happened next is how Don earned the 5-star review. It's a 220v tub, so we had an electrician run a new 220v line, and he hooked up the tub. And, well, we have no idea whether he did anything wrong or not, but the tub sure did emit a big puff of smoke and stop working almost immediately. I was pretty pissed, and called the electrician, and told him that he and Don should arrange to meet up, look at the tub, and figure out whose problem it was. I knew it wasn't going to turn into my problem. Don called me, after having spoken to the electrician. He basically took full responsibility for whatever went wrong (I think the electrician ran the tub dry, and overheated/melted some of the wires). Don came over, checked it out, figured out what was wrong. Couple days later, he came back, fixed a leak, fixed the melty wires, fixed it right up. And it ran good, for a couple hours. And then it went ka-kunk, and got very very quiet. So, we called Don back. At this point, I thought maybe we're going to get some pushback. Maybe he's going to drag his feet. Maybe he's going to try and cut his losses. Nope. Don sent his man Toussaint out, and they fixed it some more, fixed it until it was all 100% fixed. We have been enjoying the tub greatly ever since. It was a very good price, and Don made sure that it worked right. We are super-pleased, and very happy to give Don and Spa Mania a ringing endorsement. Was it more of an adventure than it would have been if we had bought a new tub? You bet. Did we save thousands? We sure did. Way to be, Don! read more

I just had my hot tub repaired by Spa Mania. Toussant was, again, a pleasure to work with as he repaired the same tub about 4 years ago. He is an excellent technician and was able to diagnose the problem quickly. The parts were ordered and he was here a week later and installed them. I really like their "we can fix it" attitude, as I was never pushed to buy a replacement hot tub. I told Donn that when the time comes, I will buy my next tub from him. read more
