We originally just planned a countertop for the kitchen island, all the sides would just be wood. Then we found a piece of labradorite lemurian that we absolutely felt in love with and decided the front of the island would also used the same piece. And we would use the cutout from the cooker as a backsplash for our coffee bar. But the slab was a little too short and had a missing corner. The backsplash would also be short by a couple of inches. This is where Frank and his skilled crew come in. Frank gave us very helpful suggestions on moving the electrical outlets. We had some wacky ideas on dealing with the missing corner and the too short backsplash. Frank was very patient with us and suggested patching the missing parts instead. He also sent a crew to thicken the plywood for the countertop for better support. He also added reinforcement on the slab. Turns out labradorite lemurian is on the fragile side. The end results were amazing. I know there's a patch, but I can't find it. We also compared the raw slab with the countertop. They didn't just cut the slab to size and installed them, but there was some thoughts and designs on what looked best. We moved into a new house that had a major gap in a seam of our quartz countertop. I called and e-mailed a few countertop firms nearby. Only one other one got back to me to say they couldn't help. A big thanks to Frank and the team at Carrera Marble. We had a new island installed and Frank helped us select a beautiful black leathered granite for the countertop. We were extremely happy with his advice, as it looks absolutely perfect in our kitchen. Frank went above and beyond for us, as we foolishly had the countertop installed, prior to having new flooring put down, following the demo of the old island. After realizing what we had done, Frank explained the weight of the countertop and how challenging it would be to move without damaging the floor or the island. He then proposed a solution, where he loaned me a jack to lift the island slightly and put furniture movers underneath the legs. This solution worked perfectly, as the island we easily moved. I needed a white quartz remnant for a bathroom countertop with two sinks. Frank found a piece that was the warm white I was looking for, talked me through how to measure and then he came to my house, took the measurements and cut a template for the carpenters to use in installation. When it was installed and it seemed that the backsplash piece and side pieces colors did not match, he had me bring them all back to lay out side by side--the colors were the same and the apparent discrepancy was caused by the way the light hit the stone. He was thorough, careful, and very gracious regarding my ignorance. I really appreciate the extra mile he went to make sure this was right. read more

Frank is abrasive. He pushed a product we weren't interested in and accused of being jingoistic since we wanted a Green Guard certified stone. He proceeded to order the wrong stone and delay our project by more than a month. His crew did great work, but I'd implore you to work with any other stone cutter in the Bay Area. Carrera Marble does an excellent job at excellent prices. Frank really knows what he is doing. There are a few things that will help you determine whether here, Home Depot or a high end countertop place is better for you. Service level - Carrera Marble expects you to know the dimensions of whatever you are ordering. For a vanity for example, you need to know the dimensions of the vanity it is going on it and you have to provide the sink that goes in it to them so they can cut it right. Home Depot provides more full service. The place is not designed to hold your hand. If you want your hand held, expect to pay a lot more elsewhere. As long as you realize that you pay less if you want your hand held less, Carrera is awesome! Price - Carrera, when you compare identical products, saves you about 50% when compared to Home Depot. For me, that meant I saved $300!! If I had gone to some high end custom counter place, I bet they charge even more than Home Depot. Quality - the stone I got from Carrera was very good. Thick and beautiful. Service level - take two - I had to get it recut as it was about 1/2 an inch to wide. I took it back and they cut it for me right there. Paying - Remember Carrera is cash or check only so go to the ATM first. For some, they will read this review and say Carrera is not your kind of place. For those of us on a budget who want great quality and a store owner who will be direct and to the point with us, this place is perfect! read more

Somehow we managed to create a tiny chip on the edge of our almost new quartz countertop, which we purchased from a different vendor. I called many tile and stone companies and couldn't find anyone to do the work. Luckily, I also called Carrera Marble. Frank said he would be happy to fix the chip. This is the first time I have ever felt compelled to write a YELP review. But buyer beware when it comes to getting your Omega cabinets through Carrera Marble company. My husband and I were working through a designer who recommended we buy Omega cabinets through Carrera Marble company. We met with the designer and the Omega cabinet rep at our home on several occasions. During that time we mentioned the refrigerator would not have a water/ice maker in the door. Our quote for our small kitchen was very expensive -over $50,000 (Our house is only 1,000 square feet so the kitchen is not very big.). However, we were assured by the designer these were quality cabinets. The cabinet rep asked for the model number of our refrigerator. My husband showed him the paperwork. The Omega rep then emailed the model number to my husband to double check. The rep had transposed one of the numbers and so my husband resent the email with the corrected model number. Apparently the rep mixed it up again -this time missing a letter. My husband didn't catch his new mess up as he was only checking to see if the second mess up was fixed. The cabinets- which appeared to be "high end" based on the price were not good quality. For example, my husband, who has made cabinets for the garage, noticed that none of the screws were counter sinked. Underneath some of the cabinets were painted - and others were left unpainted. The shelving for the mullioned glass cabinets blocked much of the light of the glass shelf inserts so we ended up buying plain glass shelves from a different company. But far worse was the issue with the refrigerator panels. After the painstaking oral and written communication with the Omega rep, there was a cut out for the water and ice dispenser. In addition, the two halves of the panels didn't even match- there was an arch on one side and flat paneling on the other. These panels needed to be remade regardless of the hole in the panel, so Omega would have had to fix at least one half of the paneling anyway- regardless of the Omega rep's mistake. After a very unprofessional conversation with Frank the owner of Carrera marble, my husband ended up paying for more than half of the mistake to settle the matter and get a new panel. I would never recommend buying your Omega cabinets through Carrera Marble. When Carrera makes a mistake on very expensive cabinets, they do not take responsibility for their mistakes. Furthermore, the owner is rude and unprofessional and will ultimately make the customer pay for his employee's and the company's mistakes. read more

I just completed a complete kitchen remodel and ordered both my Omega cabinets and beautiful quartz countertops with Frank. I am a designer and quite picky and I am thrilled with the results and service. I have worked with them before with previous clients and have always been happy so I didn't hesitate to work with them for my own project. Even though I am a designer I still chose to work with Frank's in-house kitchen designer Don, to work through the cabinet selection and make sure I utilized every square inch of space efficiently. Don is a dream, thoughtful, experienced, easy to work with and he really helped me to make the right choices. I'd recommend him in a heartbeat and I already have. First, let me say that this is not a fancy showroom, but the selection of stone is great and the fact that they fabricate on site is a huge perk. Frank and I laid the cardboard template directly onto the stone and taped it in place to choose exactly which way to orient the veining so there were no surprises. Even during Covid the cabinets (made in the US) arrived on time (6 weeks) and while there were a couple paint mistakes, two new doors were ordered without any hassle to replace the ones I wasn't happy with. Great customer service from both Carrera and Omega cabinetry. I'm really pleased with the cabinets, the soft close and the drawer inserts I ordered. Rigo and his team of stone fabricators and installers were fast, efficient and did an impeccable install in record time and I had stone as my backsplash all the way up the way. The template Rigo built was obviously perfect because the stone came in and nothing had to be adjusted. My contractor even decided to work with Carrera from now on based on the results he saw. Frank and Carrera Marble are fantastic. They just completed the stone work for our remodeled prime bathroom and it looks fabulous. I couldn't be more thrilled. And I am a very detailed-oriented (fairly critical) person. But I only have praises for Frank and his whole team at Carrera Marble. Not only does the work look perfect, but they made the whole process easy and enjoyable. Frank helped me pick out the stone. Riggo, who did the templating, is a gem. Our plans indicated a certain spread for the faucets but when Riggo got to our house to template he recommended that we might want to change that given the size of our sinks and other factors in the bathroom-- I quickly ran his suggestion by our designer who said "Riggo has the best eye in the business -- go with what he says." We did just that and Riggo was absolutely correct. It all looks perfect. And the most amazing part . . . Frank got the job done in less time than he had promised. When does that happen in construction that anything gets done in less time than promised!?!?!? I would give them ten stars if I could! read more

Our GC brought Carrera marble into our job- if I had a choice I'd choose a company focused on delivering customer satisfaction. As others have said Frank sets a tone of just be lucky Carrera is doing any work for you. I'm sure he doesn't mean it, it's just not helpful or reassuring. Carrera did slab work in our kitchen, an island and in 2 bathrooms. For a healthy sum, they were slow (adding weeks to our project waiting on Carrera to fabricate counters), unpredictable in delivering on their fabrication work, and frequent to up-charge for work that should have been included (ie flush mounting a stove). Their work is good when they get to you. If you need additional support you as often as not will get attitude. Example: After spending a lot of $ with his company, Frank still chose to charge us to spend 10 minutes drilling 2 holes in our island for mounting of a wood counter. On top of that, he left me a testy voicemail when his guy was too timid to ask for payment, threatening not to complete work he was doing for us over a few hundred dollars for which I expected to be invoiced as had been done before. Umm, you realize I've paid your company thousands right?? UPDATE: To his credit, Frank did send someone out to align our kitchen cabinets, some of which were poorly installed and not his responsibility. I had offered to pay for this service but Frank didn't charge me. This was a nice surprise and may have been an attempt to reconcile past unfriendly behavior. We are now attempting to fix issues with the cabinets that were installed (purchased from Carrera) being the wrong color white. Frank is involved and despite this review may be trying to help. So far there's not been any ownership of the cabinets being mismatched or any empathy, just more "sucks to be you as the customer" attitude. Hopefully we'll find a resolution and I can report a change here. read more

I have been a customer of Carrera Marble Company for several years. I was referred by one of their customers who was extremely happy with their kitchen remodel. They raved about Don and his design. After seeing their kitchen in Tiburon I knew I needed to get a hold of Carrera Marble. I have a duplex style home in Sausalito. Carrera has done two kitchens and two baths for me so far and they will be fabricating my fireplace soon. Frank is very experiences in stone work and has given me some great ideas. He's honest and straightforward. Frank is direct and will give you his opinion. I greatly appreciate his straight forward approach and telling me the truth vs what I want to hear. I feel that all the staff at Carrera from Henry the estimator to all the guys in the shop take pride in providing a product. Frank has spent a lot of time helping me to design my fireplace. I appreciate the guidance so I don't make any mistakes. Its a lot more complex than I realized! Their fabrication is amazing!! It took them a little while to do the work but, it was a very complex fabrication job with two waterfall edges and lots of movement in the stone. I realized I just need to be patient. All good things come in time! Its just amazing how good the fabrication turned out. Don who is the designer is just terrific. He a veteran is his field and I feel very fortunate to work with him. He has guided me through this process and the finish product looks amazing! My home has a good flow. I am also very happy with cabinet design and quality of the cabinets. Similar in price or just a little higher than Home Depot but, such a better quality! Don has great attention to detail and has always done a great job of measuring and making sure things are correct. There prices are comparable to other shops. I have shopped their prices but, the reason I continue to work with them in the quality of their work! Its not all about price when you doing stone work. If you want a quality end product you need a great design, the right stone and a great fabricator. I must again say the fabrication is amazing!! Rico who did the onsite templates/measurements did an excellent job. He managed the fabrication and made sure all my complex waterfall edges tied into the counter beautifully. I am sure it was a group effort to build these counters so perfectly. I stopped by one day when they were laying out all the stabs and matching up the templates. It very interesting how they plan things out so all the edges match the counters! Its an art to do this level of work! Carrera put forth a lot of effort on this kitchen project and I greatly appreciate it. All the guys in the shop are great and very professional. It obvious they take great pride in what they do! The bottom line is they do great work and my house looks wonderful! I have two more bathrooms to remodel and I will be using Carerra Marble to do my whole house! I needed a face lift (new counters, 1 new cabinet, etc) for a small kitchen by marin standards. I really really loved this place at first. The gentlemen who helped me was very nice and helpful, he put me in touch with folks that could help me for things he couldn't do, he talked through details with me, brainstormed, etc. He helped me decide what to go with. I got a quote from him and a few others, and he was slightly more, but since they have invested the time with me I wanted to give them my business. When I talked to them about the estimate a few things were missing so I asked them to revise and send back. I think the gentleman went on vacation so the office got backed up, which I can understand. I followed up 4 times via phone and email over 4 weeks and was told over and over that they would get me a revised estimate. Finally I gave up and went with someone else. I understand I am probably a small job for them and so I went to the bottom of the list, but I was disappointed none the less. read more

I should have known not to do business with Carerra Marble on day one when my wife returned from her first meeting with Frank Carrera and said "I can't work with that guy." Let's be clear my wife was the chief administrator for an organization of 400 with a budget of 100 million, so she is no shrinking violet. She has worked with a lot of difficult people in her life and I've come to find out Frank Carrera is in the top 3. Two things are made clear to you when you work with Frank: 1) He is the smartest guy in the room. You know this by the way he talks over you, bullies you and works to make sure you know he is the top dog - the smartest guy in the county. Remember -- you don't know anything, that's his message. 2) He is the most talented "artiste" in the county. It's clear that his vision and aesthetic sensibilities make him a national treasure. When combined, these two traits make for a special kind of arrogance often found in the trades. And that would all be great if Carrera delivered on their promises. Because as it turned out, having bitten our tongues and eaten Frank's crow (once you are on their time frame forget having any input into what occurs), the beautiful piece of art they installed cracked within two months. So what happened? When I called Frank he immediately stated (with 100% conviction) that it was my fault! Can't be the material or the installation, it had to be me. As Frank said "did you park a car on it?" At the time (over 2 months ago) Frank said he would look into it, but that never happened. He never came out to the job, never contacted the manufacturer, never returned my calls or emails and simply disappeared. My advice: Trust your gut, not your designer. And, look for another "artiste" that actually stands behind their work. read more

He refused to contact Omega cabinetry or its field representative to correct cabinet door hinge installation issues. After receiving our deposit, he refused to return our repeated phone calls. We had a small DIY Countertop project and Frank at Carrera was the best ....helped me learn how to do all the measurements and build a template for a perfect fit. They even provided all the materials! They have great prices and an excellent selection of new and small pieces from larger projects...they even let my wife borrow samples to try out at home. They are very patient, respectful, and helpful no project too small. I wish we had purchased our cabinets there. They also do cabinets. Go there you won't be disapointed. Remember they mainly deal with tradespeople so you need to ask questions if you are not sure what you need. They will help you A 5 star award read more

The only good thing I experienced in Carrera Marble was the piece of granite I got which was a nice piece. The rest of it here in a nutshell: customer service do not really exist, communication is very poor (you have to call yourself), staying on top of dates and commitments (not met twice in one order), not delivering what was sold (apparently a part of the order got never recorded). Having the slabs and cabinets in one place was much easier. . I was recommended to visit their showroom by my contractor. I brought pictures of my 2 bathroom counters and Frank gave me advice on the sink purchase that totally changed my way of thinking and enhanced the look of my bathroom. He guided me through his warehouse and allowed me to watch the work being done. Working with his office staff was easy and went well. The installers are perfectionists who work diligently to create stellar products.
