I love Williams-Sonoma! We had a wedding registry with the Palo Alto location and it was a positive and fun experience. This location is also bright, inviting, clean, and well-stocked. I stopped in quickly to grab a jar of their Gravy Base - we use it every year for Thanksgiving. Staff greeted me soon after I entered, asking if I needed any assistance. I didn't, but appreciated the offer. The gravy and other Thanksgiving items are conveniently and beautifully displayed near the entrance. I did quickly tour the store - fun to shop with the eyes! Over the years we've purchased pots and pans, wine glasses, dish towels, and more kitchen/dining items from them. That reminds me...my dish towels need a refresh! We've also purchased foodie gifts: gourmet pastas and tomato sauces, olive oils, bread mixes... The quality products and customer service keep us coming back. read more

She was so sweet and engaging but not "saley" really cared to help me - and it showed. I ran in to get a jar of gravy base the week before Thanksgiving. The store was jam packed with people and merchandise. Since they downsized and relocated, it is much tighter to move through if there are many customers. I was in a hurry and had my dog with me who was just out of a long day at the vet. I finally found a sales associate and asked for the gravy. She was near it and pointed. Because of the store's layout and traffic, I had to go all the way around. She could have handed me a jar and i would have been positioned to check out. But, no. I had to backtrack around the displays, get the gravy, make my way around again and queue for the register. If you're not a white customer go elsewhere. The vibe from their boomer staff is racist. I made myself a coffee and thought the sign to ask for assistance was optional. I have owned Jura espresso machines and did not need assistance. This man and woman employee pulled up on me and got so close to my face, saying how it was a liability and I needed to ask her. It was so rude and reeked of any opportunity to speak to a person of color in a downgrading way is an ego boost. They had the option to be polite and courteous. I have been eyeing the Fellow Opus grinder. It happened to be on-sale at Williams Sonoma. I called and found that the Corte Madera location has it in stock and they have one on display. I also called to ask about the static cling and Oscar who answered the phone was knowledgable and explained it over the phone to me. He also recommend that I stop in to look at the one on display. They can demonstrate it for me and they have beans so I didn't have to bring my own. He was so patient and detailed (he went to check physically to make sure they have the inventory and held it for me). A hour later, we went to the store and were greeted by multiple staff members. I placed a gift order September 20th 2024 for delivery based on their calendrer for November 18th through November 20th 2024 Today is the 20th I checked their site it has not shipped I called and they said yes your two items are still in processing and have not shipped. She said let me talk to a supervisor and after 20 minutes she came back and said we can not cancel it is too far in the shipping process. After stating it has not shipped how can this be. And every once in while, I'll find that culinary gem I never knew I was always looking for. On my most recent visit, I discovered a Chef'n Salad Dressing Emulsifier (see posted photo). Talk about horrible services or lack of services. I was in the store on Sunday, March 20th around 12:30-12:45. 6 associates were working in the store. Three behind the register chatting with each other, one at the knives wall with customers, one at the back talking to her friends, one at the wall of the pot with customers. Nobody even attempts to make eye contact or a simple hello. I walked by within inches of the associates to see if I can get the help I needed. NO help was the answer. I am getting a jumpstart on my Christmas Shopping, so I stopped in to Williams-Sonoma at Corte Madera. I was warmly welcomed by a greeter, and offered help immediately. I didn't know what I needed, yet, but I was happy to know where I could find help when I needed some. Even though Williams-Sonoma is a large chain of stores, this one has always felt like a hometown shop to me. They have a new store space and, while it's very neat and orderly, I found it to be quite cramped. They have managed to match the layout of their other location nearby, but it felt much more crowded, even though it seemed like there were fewer people in there than usual for the week before Thanksgiving. Luckily for me, I was approached by Carolyn, a veteran sales associate that I have seen there for years. She was very helpful and cheerful all along. Along with some teamwork from Denise, another associate, we were able to find everything I needed (a couple of things had to be rooted out of the back storeroom) and I was, after a little browsing time, and more than a couple of impulse buys, on my way ! All for supporting local businesses, but... Was enjoying the Marin weather and stopped by the Corte Madera Williams-Sonoma today. Arrived home with two broken plates in a set of 12. They had a single flat sheet of paper between them (see photo). I went back to the store to get them replaced and the store manager immediately claimed I was lying about the way they were wrapped. Manager was very rude and also made several other false claims trying to prove it was my fault instead of just replacing two plates that are worth a less than $30. I was shocked at the confrontational attitude of the manager and two sales associates for such a trivial issue. This is the reason many brick and mortar establishments are failing. Poor customer service and horrible attitudes in an era where people don't have to deal with any of that online. Just bought the replacements on Williams-Sonoma's website. We were immediately greeted by the friendly staff and since we just came in to browse to see if we can find anything fun and new for our new home, there wasn't anything in particular that we were looking for. I appreciate that the staff was willing to help but gave us space. John shared his knowledge and feedback when we were spending some time looking at certain products. I was browsing the shelves and an employee (older woman, longish hair) flew past me to get to a wealthy-looking older man who was perusing the knives. I get it, but don't be so obvious. Okay, yes Williams-Sonoma is expensive. No surprise there. So if that's news to you, be forewarned. It's pricey, but they have some great, quality, and fun items. I have long loved their stores, I feel like a better cook just by walking in the door. I especially love visiting the stores around the holidays-the stores smell delicious. I ordered an item online in October. W-S shipped it on December 20th. In the first half of January, I walked into this store to return it and Emma gave me guff. "It's been too long, you can't return this," she said putting her foot down. I showed Emma the shipping confirmation e-mail where it said the item was shipped 12/20. I received it AFTER Xmas. Emma looked put out and told me she had to check with her supervisor. Fine. After a brief conversation, Emma told me that they'd "let it go this time." Um, what??? I order an item that arrives TWO MONTHS AFTER I ORDER IT and when I return the item less than 30 days after receiving it, I get scolded AND then I'm treated like W-S is giving me special dispensation for what was in reality, their very slow shipping??? Nah. Are you listening Williams-Sonoma? This is why I, and many others, are opting to order from Amazon where shipping is often lightening fast and returns easy. A bummer. read more

Wife giving a review today. Saturday, two days ago, I visited Williams-Sonoma while shopping with my mom and sister. I love this store. It has lots of lovely ideas for entertaining, fun specialty sauces and spices as well as higher end kitchen cookware and novelty seasonal items (heart shaped bundt pan). We were drawn in by the smell of "cookies" which turned out to be chocolate chip waffles being made. Great way to showcase and sell something. I bought some. :) While looking over the sale items I was approached several times by cheerful staff asking to assist. While trying to decide on a specialty sauce, I asked for a recommendation. The sales associate was friendly and helpful. She then suggested toffee flavored caramels which they had just marked down at the register. When I was ready to check out I picked up a tin of the caramels, the cashier cheerfully informed me they had just marked those down as they were a Valentine's Day promotion. I told her that was perfect as I was looking for candy for my desk at work. I made my purchase then opened the tin up to taste the Caramel to see if I wanted to buy a second one. I passed the tin to my sister to try. My expectation was a soft, dense, chewy caramel with a hint of toffee flavor. What I got was a hard rock that cracked after several times to chew. The taste was that of "sugar" breaking down and the starting of a gritty texture. The cashier asked if I wanted to buy another. I responded no and told her that they were not good and starting to go bad. The cashier rudely snapped back and said, "What are you complaining about, you got them for $4". In shock, I suggested that they open a tin and let customers sample them so they know what they are getting. I told her that I would not have bought them has I known they were bad. The cashier then told me they are not bad and have two more months on them. I asked for a bag for the rest of my items and left. As we were walking to the door, my sister threw her caramel out The sales associate who recommended the Caramels asked if I found them. I told her that they were hard and suggested that a manager maybe make samples available. She looked at me dumbfounded then casually said she'd let the cashier know. My issues: Not once a single apology for an unsatisfactory product they recommended. Cashier's comment was horribly rude, pretentious and unnecessary. Cashier made no attempt to make it right. FYI - caramels were not $4 but marked down as cashier misstated. Best by date was Feb 2018 not in "2 months" as cashier stated. read more

I don't think I have ever written a review for a corporate retail store (I'm not even sure it's a thing), I frequent this store often and after being repeatedly treated poorly by the rude sales women who work there, I'm feeling compelled to leave this review. Again this isn't an isolated incident, I have multiple stories like this one, but I'll share my most recent. I was pushed into ordering a sauce that was out of stock and reassured it would be sent to me within a week, I wanted to give it as gifts for Xmas. Fast forward two months later (one week before Xmas) and I have not only not received my sauces, but have zero tracking info. I go into the store, with a smile on my face and explain my story to 5 different sales women (I kept getting passes around), they ALL gave me so much attitude (as if this mishap was my fault). After standing at the register for 20 minutes, with my very well behaved one year old with me, I was rudely bumped into by another sales woman who asked me to move, when she easily could have gone around me. And I was not in the way, I was standing as close to the register as I could with my stroller paralleIt was bad vibes all around and I just wanted to get the hell out of there. Come to find out, my items were never shipped (for an unexplained reason) and I was told "they "should" arrive before Xmas, but sorry if they don't". They didn't end up coming for weeks after Xmas. Wow oh wow. Great gadgets for the kitchen, but this is one really really really screwed up store. My wife purchased so high end pots/pans a couple years ago. The finish is already starting to peel off. Not good, and certainly not good when an 8" skillet is $150. I decided to surprise my wife and decided to visit the store and replace some of them. When I go to check out, the salesperson (David) informed me that he didn't have them in stock and would have to order them and they would be delivered to our house. Ok, no big deal. He then said that in order to order them he would need a card, I said I'm paying in cash. He then made me buy a gift card in order to order the pots/pans. When I got home, my wife was like "I don't want them because they are junk". I called the store to bring them back for a return. Derek informed me "however you paid us how the refund will be issued", I informed him that David forced me to buy the gift card. Derek became an automaton and repeated himself multiple times "however you purchased them us how they will be returned". I informed him that I wasn't accepting a gift card to a f***ed up store like his, which promoted him to repeat himself for the 5th time. I asked for the store manager, he informed me he was the manager. I asked for the corporate telephone number, which I called. The customer service rep couldn't comprehend what had occurred so I asked for a manager. She said there was an hour wait on hold to speak to one, so I asked for the manager to return my call. This is the worst service my family has experienced. My father went in on New Year's Day to get himself a new coffee machine. He experienced being up sold, overcharged, and looked down upon by the staff. He ended up picking out a coffee machine he liked. When it came time to check out, was charged 100 dollars above the price listed on the box was talked into getting a credit card to receive a 20% discount- (which he later found out to be 20% off future purchases). He did not feel welcomed during the entire process, was spoken down to, and all of this behavior aligns with previous yelp posts from the taller Eastern European woman. How can any foodie who cooks not like Williams-Sonoma? It's located in the open mall in Corte Madera. Went in to oogle and drool at the cooking paraphernalia. I felt inspired after cooking my first recipe out of Julia Child's "Mastering the Art of French Cooking", her famed boeuf (beef) bourguignon. Next, will be her soupe a l'oignon (onion soup). No, I have no plans to be like that woman in the movie, "Julie and Julia" who tries to cook thru the whole book in one year and blogs about it. I don't need the craziness of living like that. Amen. I ended up walking out with a couple of sale items and not pots nor pans. Not even a new pair of their heavy duty, ultra thick oven mitts which are wonderful. Found a jar of gourmet Haleakala red salt on sale. You can sprinkle on butter before you use it on bread or season your food with it. And I love their hot chocolate mix, full of Guittard chocolate shavings, the last can also on sale. Yum! And, bottles of winter forest hand lotion (peppermint and chestnut too) was more than 1/2 off, great for moisturing those abused hands of mine subjected to harsh detergents from cleaning up mixing bowls, plates and cooking utensils used during cooking. My girlfriend and I decided to check out the espresso machines at Williams-Sonoma since the Nespresso store was busy at the time. When we walked in, we were greeted by two Nespresso machines, which were on a cart right by the door. Assuming it was a demo station (there was fresh milk in one of the machines, Nespresso pods, disposable cups, and sugar) I excitedly started reading the brochure and picked up a few of the pods to examine. There was no "please ask for assistance" sign, mind you. Cheryl, one of the employees, appears from nowhere and snatches the coffee pods from my hand. She immediately says "what are you doing? Do you own this machine yet? I don't go into your house and start touching things. Are you guys here just to get free coffee?" In disbelief, I reply "No, we're here to check out the machines. I am very interested in purchasing one." She then shooed us aside and proceeded to give us her demo. Unbelievable. I'm no stranger to high-end retail stores. Price isn't as much a factor for me as customer service is. To top it off, she has the courage to say "my name is Cheryl, I could really use the sale if you do buy one today." To be fair, Cheryl did know her products well and gave a decent product demo but the first impression she gave was absolutely the worst I have experienced--anywhere. In closing, we will not be buying anything from the Corte Madera store anytime soon. The coffee was good; a lot better than my current espresso machine, but the entire experience just left a very bad taste in our mouth. Plus, it's cheaper on Amazon, anyways. read more

I'm your customer and I've never bought online before, and it was the worst experience I've had so far. Today I only do my online comparisons with other companies, but I don't recommend anyone doing it with you. First I bought 8 Scallop Glass Charger, Pink on September 19th, after I made the purchase I realized that the dishes were going to take a while and the The amount charged for delivery was unusual for other companies, mainly because they would only be delivered at the end of October. After all that I called and asked to have the order cancelled. And I thought that the cancellation had really done it. On the 22nd of October I received an email saying that the dishes would arrive in early December. I thought it was a misunderstanding. In early November I received a box of 3 dishes, and a week later I received the remaining 5 dishes. I tried to get the return labels but I couldn't. So again I called (11/15/23) you guys to get the return label for the 8 dishes. On the 18th of November I returned the dishes and never received the money. One month, unacceptable!!! Today 12/19 I called you again and the person who answered me said that you forgot to scan the product received, that's why you hadn't returned the money. Then I think you made a mistake and I still have to wait another 7 days to have my money in my account. I never imagined that your company would act with disregard for your customers. The team at this location is amazing. One of the managers, Alex, is absolutely fantastic! Very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. If anyone needed to buy kitchen products I would send them to him. He put me at ease during my shopping experience. What ever retailers he ever decides to work for would be lucky to have him. I went in there and she asked me if i needed help and i did , helped me find what i needed and then proceeded to follow me around. She snatched the item out of my hand which I'm not sure if she was just trying to be helpful but it came off as her thinking i was going to steal something. I didn't even want to continue shopping because of her but i needed to get a present for my mom so i ended up getting the item. Do not purchase the $350 toaster. It didn't toast. I tried to return it They said I could purchase a new one for $350 and they would give me a credit of $99 toward it. I asked to speak to the manager. Alex obviously heard the problem and tried to hide. He finally came over 10 minutes later and did not help me. To compare I purchased a expensive rice cooler from sur la table it stopped working after about 3 years. I went to purchase another. When I mentioned to the sales lady that I needed another she said, "we have a lifetime guarantee on ALL of our appliances." I returned it. No hassle. My advice is buy at sur la table. I recently purchased a very nice bottle of olive oil, another bottle of olive oil which I was charged for by mistake, an olive oil dispenser and grapefruit hand soap. The bottle of olive oil was to be a gift and then I went to wrap it and saw the freshness date was Jan. and this was Sept. I'm sorry, if I am spending almost $40 for a bottle of olive oil I want the freshness day to be before the date I purchase it. What got me is that they never admitted the bottle shouldn't have been on the shelf. That I should understand the oil is still good. It could have been good but it certainly wasn't fresh since it was 8 months beyond the freshness date. Then I went to use the hand soap and there was no fragrance. This happened last year as well. The manager kept trying to blame the person who helped me but I insisted it was the policy of the store that was to blame.
