Am I missing something? I'm not understanding the customer service here. I came here looking to buy a knife set, which this older blonde lady came over and helped me. Thats after the rude gentleman said they didn't have a certain size cookie cutter, and walked away like I wasted his time, after he asked me if I needed help. Anyways, I asked the lady about the knife set, and she kept asking me how great of a cook I was, well I'm not an Iron Chef, but I can make some things, and just wanted a new knife set. Do not purchase the $350 toaster. It didn't toast. I tried to return it They said I could purchase a new one for $350 and they would give me a credit of $99 toward it. I asked to speak to the manager. Alex obviously heard the problem and tried to hide. He finally came over 10 minutes later and did not help me. To compare I purchased a expensive rice cooler from sur la table it stopped working after about 3 years. I went to purchase another. When I mentioned to the sales lady that I needed another she said, "we have a lifetime guarantee on ALL of our appliances." I returned it. No hassle. My advice is buy at sur la table. Had a terrible experience this month. The lady who waited on me could not answer my question about returning a food product. First....... food? No then yes then with receipt only and 30 days. Totally condescending. She was SO rude. Then the other 2 women working there start bickering. I just wanted to get out of there. Done with this store forever. Sur la table is my new store. They are friendly and helpful. The last few times I have been in here have been horrible. Rude ladies, can't find anyone to help me and the list goes on. read more

Awful awful experience. Received and then needed to return some bridal registry gifts. For three of the items, they could not immediately provide a merchandise credit, but printed out a receipt and said that the merch credits would be sent to us. 6 weeks later, they hadn't arrived, so I called the customer service number at the top of the page, which it says to do if you haven't received the credit in 14 days. They told me that the store had entered in a field incorrectly and that they couldn't change it, I would have to call the store. So I call the store, explain what I need, and am put on hold. After waiting 10 minutes, I call back, say that I'd been waiting 10 minutes on hold so I called back, and was told that the store was busy and that they'd call me back. I told them that wasn't ok because I was calling them after they'd made a mistake and CS told me to call them. I gave him all the information, and he said he would have to call CS and then call me back. 30 minutes later, he calls back. Says it's all fixed. Gives me the amounts, and they're wrong - the price I'm being credited is less than the price on the receipt. I share that he says with a very annoyed tone that he can't see what I have, he can't see what "her screen" is so he can't do anything. Tells me to call CS. At this point, it's the principle. I'm pissed off, but the way I'm being shuttled around is not ok. So I call CS. I explain that I'm frustrated because I've now spent over an hour of my Saturday afternoon trying to fix an issue created because their store messed up, but I never lost my temper, raised my voice, or swore - I was polite and firm for the entire call. She keeps insisting that she doesn't know why I was "informed" (and I keep telling her "it's on the receipt I'm looking at; this isn't just my recollection of a conversation") the "incorrect" price, but there's nothing she can do. Finally she says she's going to put me on hold and talk to a supervisor. 30 seconds of hold music then nothing. Yep, she hung up on me. I'm done spending my time with them. I'm going to share my experience with others on Yelp, and encourage you to register at Macys or Crate and Barrel (we had a great experience with the Macys registry), use up my merch credits and then never set foot in another Williams Sonoma store. The crazy thing? The total price differential was $10. For $10 they lost a customer and received a one star review on Yelp. read more

A stand out location where you'll actually recognize staff from visit-to-visit. Even seasonal staff still has more knowledge base than that of other retailers. This location was our wedding registry site. Any issues we had were always in dealing with another store. Unlike many locations, you can find a number of items that may typically only be found online. So if you spot something online that you need last minute, doesn't hurt to call up this location. read more

We went to this store yesterday, I was looking to buy some Le Creuset cookware. First of all, the service was extremely slow, but I was still patient as the saleslady seemed nice. They could not find a new boxed set of the cookware I had liked, and the only piece left was the one on display. The saleslady said that her Supervisor would give me a discount for it as it's the display set. When I reached the checkout line, I waited for at least 10 mins before their Supervisor could attend to me. She didn't say a word to me, instead turned to the people who had just arrived behind me and apologized to them about the wait!! She was not at all polite when she spoke to me. When I asked about the discount, she talked to me in an extremely rude and condescending manner. I would have bought the piece even without the discount (which their saleslady had told me about in the first place), but her attitude was SO BAD that I decided not to buy it. And then, she kept apologizing to the people behind me. The way she spoke told me that she doesn't find me 'worthy enough' to be in that store. It was quite obvious what was going on. Indians Beware! I bought 5 or 6 items to use as a Yankee gift swap - didn't know that they were on sale, and I was issued a gift receipt to put in the box. When I went to try to exchange/return the items, even with the original receipt and within two weeks of purchase date, they would not take anything back. Amazing in this new retail world, that anyone would have such a horrible return policy! The store manager actually suggested that I "read the fine print more carefully' next time. No need - I will never shop there again! read more

Exemplary Customer Service!! While vacationing at someone else's home, I had a mishap with their coffee pot which I broke to the point of no return. I called this location and Holly assisted me over the phone. I described the coffee pot I was looking for and she informed me that it was an item that was no longer carried in store. Holly quickly looked it up online and ordered it for me and even applied a discount. I would also like to note that when Holly placed the order for me she informed me that the discount didn't get applied so she called customer service to have it applied to my order. Holly was so helpful and friendly and it was obvious that she sincerely wanted to help me. She told me that as soon as it is shipped to the store she would call me and just as she promised, I received a call from Holly and was able to pick it up in time to replace the pot for the family before leaving for home. When I went to the store to pick up the coffee pot, John was the man! He seemed to be the go to guy multitasking and helping everyone at the same time and doing it all with a wonderful smile on his face! Holly and John are great examples of employees who genuinely care about providing awesome customer service. Thank you Holly and John! read more

Harris at Williams Sonoma is BY FAR the most helpful, knowledgeable employee at Williams Sonoma. He managed to locate all the pieces of copper cookware I wanted to buy, both in the store and online and stuck with me through a complex order. He waived shipping fees for the items that had to be ordered online, and I received them very quickly! Thanks Harris! He even cooks and can give you input on which pans are best to use for what, and how to clean and maintain them. read more

Williams-Sonoma stores are nice looking, have knowledgeable staff and a great selection quality of kitchen items, many which you might not find in other brick and mortar stores. If you are shopping for a bargain, this is not the place. On 12/1/17 I purchased a knife sharpener as a Christmas gift. Right before Christmas I came across a much nicer sharpener elsewhere that was not that much more expensive which I decided to gift instead. On 1/2/18 I returned to W-S to return the item. In a retail environment where stores are clamoring for your business with generous return policies I was quite taken back when the store balked at taking back a regular stocked, unopened item with the original receipt. After ten minutes of discussion they agreed to refund my money "As a one time courtesy". That was fine with me, seeing as I will never shop W-S again so I will have no need for a future 'courtesy'. read more

Short story: I dropped my knives off on a Monday and paid for them in full to be sharpened. I was told that the turn around time was between 24-48 hours which was fine since I was next in Corte Madera on Thursday. I arrived on Thursday and as was casually told to "come back tomorrow (Friday) at noon and maybe they'll be ready then." Having traveled ~45m to the store I wished someone from the store would have called and advised of the delay instead of telling me upon arrival. I declined to do so and cancelled my order (glad I did after reading the other yelp reviews about how customers knives were damaged / ruined). WS should either take this service seriously (and not as a means of luring customers into the store) or discontinue the offering. In summary I would recommend that you go elsewhere to ensure both a timely and satisfactorily result. read more

Employees at this place were very helpful when we were shopping for a toaster oven. They weren't quick to point us to the more expensive models. Rather, they took the time to take the two cheapest Breville toaster ovens off the rack, plugged each one of them in on top of a counter, and walked us through the differences of the user interfaces between the two toaster ovens as if we were about cook something. The helpfulness and diligence shown by the associates really impressed me, and we ended up with an awesome toaster oven. read more

This is overdue praise for the Corte Madera WS store and employee Kristine. I visited the store a few days ago and ran into the woman who transformed my holiday party. No surprises about what products Williams Sonoma has to offer - my surprise was the outstanding service that I received from Kristine. I've never been impressed by any assistance I have received - or asked for - at this store. However, Kristine blew me away by virtually taking over my holiday dinner party plans. She was full of excellent creative ideas about how to present a dinner for 25 guests - from table cloths, napkins, stemware, right down to spontaneously designing a candle centerpiece made up over a silver tray. Kristine did not miss a single detail - and even though the store was crowded, she never took her attention elsewhere. The dinner was a hit! On my recent visit, I was undecided on a gift for a chef friend and once again Kristien had excellent questions to help me narrow down the choices to what would be most appropriate. Went to get a Wusthof knife block set and showed "Kristine" a screenshot from the website of exactly what it was. Barely looking, she abruptly says,"nope, don't have it"... I said the website says you have it, could you make sure?... She then faked a recheck and tried to sell me a different brand of steak knives...WTF? Went and purchased the block set at Sur La Table, which was a beautiful, friendly experience. Called the WS store and asked if they had the original item and was told they had 8 on the shelf, confirmed. Now I'm not a trained psychiatrist but I'm sensing there might be some issues with this particular store. Maybe management should be looking at some of these reviews? This Kristine lady should not be near customers, maybe in the stock room far far away. BTW, did get a hold of Terri Birsen at Corporate, don't waste your time, just shun these hacks. Looks great, but the service is slow, understaffed and pretty condescending or dismissive of men and our questions. Then waste 15 minutes of my time without updates to tell me they don't have the item. What good is your computer if you don't use it, and instead check the store room like it 1950? Horrible experience here. I had to return wedding gifts and was in there for over an HOUR, literally, while someone w/o training tried to return them and exchange them for other items, no one helped her, the manager eventually appologized, but they screwed it up so many times, at one point I left so my husband could finish, and he left and they had given us a lower value for the return item than the person actually paid on line. At that point even the manager who was super uninterested in helping TRIED to help. At the end we left with $35 owed to us b/c we couldnt be there any longer - because they applied our registry "discount" to the returned items too - she said next time we should do a return, then a new purchase, not an exchange. First off, I tried to write a review for the Breville toaster oven on Williams Sonoma's website, but because it was negative, it would not post- SO beware reading the online reviews of a product- they apparently only let you see the positive ones. My Breville oven that I bought there stopped working. We called WS and was told they could not (would not) help. We called Breville, and was told that for $120.00 we could send our oven to them to be repaired. Seriously?? I think WS can afford to stand by their products- and Breville can do the same. I am not sure why these people are complaining but the last time I went into Williams-Sonoma I was so pleased with the sales person. I was looking for a stainless-steel set of cookware and wanted some information. The saleswomen "bent over backward" explaining the different brands of stainless steal between regular stainless steel, Clad, and Thermo-Clad. I was so impressed with the Thermo-Clad I found myself envisioning cooking with such beautiful pots but when I found out the set, although on sale, costs over $600.00 I had to step back. I have since done lots of research on stainless steel and after considerable thought, on payday I am going to return and buy the 10 - piece set. 10 years ago I purchased a set of nonstick Calphalon from the same WS but now I am eager to move into cooking with stainless steel. I am looking forward to years of joyful cooking with my new pots. BTW I have purchased lots of bakeware over the years from WS, and love every piece. read more

I was in this location earlier today, and the staff was not very pleasant. I accidentally knocked over one of the demo blenders, and the apple cider spilled all over me and the counters. I looked around, two employees just looked and me and looked away. I asked one of the staff if they had anything to help clean and apologized. No one said anything to me, but called someone from the back to come clean. One the way out, I said to the woman working at the register that none of the staff offered me a napkin or paper towel when I was standing there with cider all over my shirt and pants. Her response was, "Well, there's someone mopping it now." I stated again that I know it's being cleaned up, but no one offered to help me at all. She replied that it was a demo machine and wasn't supposed to be touched. I said I knocked it over by accident, and not a single employee offered me anything to help! Not only have they often been "too busy to help" me, but they have been an absolute nightmare with returning a few of my wedding gifts. They won't allow in store returns with the option of receiving the gift card at the time of return instead of in the mail 10 days later "under any circumstances." I live 45 minutes away and drove down once to return a pot I had received in error (williams sonoma had sent the cheaper smaller version than the one our friends had purchased for us on our registry), but the distracted woman who was helping me "exchanged" the pot for the "correct" one (even though I had insisted multiple times I would like to return the correct pot also), having it sent back to my home address so I would need to once again drive down and return the pot they should have sent in the first place. The second trip I made down to corte madera, with the now corrected pot I had wanted to return, they insisted I would have to wait for the gift card to arrive in the mail in 10 business days because they could not possibly convenience the customer and save me another 1.5 hour round trip. I explained the items I was wanting to buy or exchange the pot for were currently on sale (after christmas sale) and I would just be missing the sale if I received the card in 10 days. That was January 26th. It is now March 9th and I still have yet to receive my card. I have called customer service who apparently needs to have the corte madera store talk to me and solve the un sent card directly. When customer service called the corte madera store for me, the staff at the store told them that they "were much too busy to handle it right now" and would call me back later. I cannot express how shocked I am at the TERRIBLE customer service this business provides. read more
