I sought assistance for a bathroom remodel and found Kari and Christine to be knowledgeable, easy to work with, and VERY helpful. I purchased my tile, vanity and fancy Toto toilet from them. Kari was so helpful discussing shower tile options and really listening to my thoughts about color scheme. She offered suggestions and always waited for my response before offering advice. We were able to find our tile and bathroom hardware in one store which eliminated the need to shop all over the county and beyond. Sophie in the tile department and Kristina in plumbing worked with us to stay within our budget. And when we were short with tile, Sophie was able to find a couple of complimentary sample pieces so that our contractor was able to continue and finish our bathrooms without having to order and wait for the additional tiles. What an awful place ... we walked in here today looking to purchase marble countertops, backsplash and fixtures for our kitchen and bar remodel in our home and I can't believe the horrible level of service (if not level than the non existent). Literally walked around in front of two individuals who didn't even acknowledge we were there for 10 minutes. It was annoying but figured they were busy. HOWEVER, another couple walked in and they immediately stood up and greeted them. I figured maybe they knew them and/or they had an appointment but NO. Instantly, it became another couple like us looking for something specific and wanted to browse. Will absolutely never come here again and I highly recommend you take your business elsewhere. Maybe it was our because we are a younger couple or maybe it's because I'm Hispanic, who knows why they disregarded us but the experience was frustrating. Having moved to Hamilton about a year ago we've tried to shop locally but we will purchase from All Natural Stone in Berkeley, their level of service was extraordinary and we were simply trying to see if something more local was possible. read more

We had excellent service and got everything we wanted through CTW for both kitchen and bathroom. Going through them rather than directly for fixtures, etc., is so important, because there are always issues. We bought all of our kitchen and bathroom fixtures at CTW, starting in 2005. This past week, our shower controller broke and we needed to order parts for our plumber. Kevin at CTW helped me to figure out the information I needed (from my 2016 order) and gave me the phone number for the manufacturer. When my plumber and I called, we were able to determine the part numbers we needed, which Kevin ordered for us. I was worried when Craig left CTW, but this experience assured me that the quality of customer service is the same. read more

Sophie of CTW was referred to us by our contractor to help us with our new master bath remodel. She was outstanding in guiding us through the tile selection and shower configuration process. We could not be happier with what we selected. When our contractor discovered additional tile that was needed to complete our job after we unexpectedly changed to a curbless shower Sophie was able to get the extra tile for us the next day. She did this again for us when we decided to again unexpectedly tile a second bathroom on the last day our contractor was on our job. She got the tile the next day and the contractor agreed to stay longer to complete the tiling for our second bathroom. Our entire experience with Sophie and CTW was as good as could be expected. We will be using them again for our new kitchen backsplash. read more

We had a small, strange tiling project that we did not know how to solve. For some reason, the people who installed the shower before we moved in made the shower bench out of wood and left the underside exposed! Dana and Roberto were awesome at helping us find the easiest, most cost effective way to solve the problem. Even though it was a Saturday, and the place was busy, we were helped quickly and cheerfully. We were able to get all our supplies there, and our project has gone smoothly. We are hugely appreciative for the effort both employees went to to educate us and find us the best solution without gimmicks or up selling. There were no downsides to our experience. I went to CTW Designs yesterday to get some grout for our kitchen floor. They identified the exact color within mere moments. Going to this place brought back great memories from a hard time. We had a fire and had to gut our house and start from scratch. I made many trips to CTW and they were always helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. Ann was particularly helpful and kind. I ended up getting tiles, sinks, and faucets there, and am still very happy with them several years later. Many of my shopping experiences during that time were quite difficult, but CTW Designs was always an oasis. They have an unbelievably great selection, too. read more

After visiting 6 Bay Area show rooms (Oakland, alameda, and SF) for a bathroom addition project- I found ctw to be the best, by far. First of all most show rooms basically have the same stuff- if you are looking for the next step above ikea. Showrooms are different from one another if their staff is knowledgable and can answer questions quickly and give you prices without typing into a computer for twenty minutes. We dealt with Harry who was one of the best show room sales people we have ever dealt with. So far a lot of showrooms have been too expensive and play a game in which they don't tell you the contractor discount versus their "discount" Some show rooms look cheap but at the end of the day have a limited in store selection and limited discounts.(really, they don't beat the really nice places). Advice we got was really practical and just good advice- the tile staff also was helpful helping us think about how to choose tile based on difficulty in cleaning. read more

We visited the showroom a few times over the course of an extensive home renovation and ultimately purchased several Isenberg plumbing fixtures for sinks, showers, and tub, along with two beautiful light-framed mirrors. We first stepped foot in CTW in June 2019 to map our a double bathroom remodel and worked with them throughout the project. All of the staff was exceptionally helpful, patient, and kind in answering our questions, getting samples, ordering our fixtures, and following up on two fixtures that were defective due to the manufacturer. And they did this all during the Covid-19 pandemic as we broke ground in February 2020. I recommend them highly and will surely be back as a customer when we tackle our kitchen. read more

We bought high end bathroom fixtures from CTW when we remodeled our master bathroom. They never worked properly. The manufacturer would take no responsibility. CTW took care of us and made it right. Please stay away from CTW Designs. My wife and I purchased over $1,000 worth of tiles and other bathroom supplies from this place for our master bedroom and bathroom remodel. When the person installing our tiles recommended to get a different type of Schluter-Jolly than we initially purchased to better suit our needs, I went back to CTW in attempt to make the exchange. When I went back to exchange the items, I was told by one of the employees that they were non-returnable. This was a surprise to me, but I left that day without returning the items, as I wanted to talk to my wife about this since she placed the order. When I conveyed this information to my wife, it was also a surprise to her, as she was never told by the salesperson that the items were non-returnable nor were they listed as non-returnable on the receipt. My wife had to strongly voice her point-of-view over the phone before the manager finally allowed us to return the items for a refund less the restocking fee. I went back again the next day to return the items and pick up a few more tiles. The same employee I met with the other day was then extremely rude to me. He accused my wife of weaseling a return out of them and basically called her a liar, as he said the salesperson told her that the items were non-returnable and she knew it. My wife and I are very honest people and would never knowingly try to return something if we thought it was not justified. Being rudely accused of this by this man did not sit well with me, but I calmly walked out as I vowed to never return to this place. There is simply no excuse for this type of extremely poor customer service and rude false accusations, especially since we just bought over $1,000 worth of supplies from them. There are many places to buy tile and other bathroom supplies, so please choose somewhere else, as CTW Designs does not deserve your business. read more

As a tile contractor ( London Tile, Mill Valley) I have been buying tiles and installation materials from CTW for at least 10 years, they have always been on the ball and followed through on delivery promises . What prompted me to post this review was that this week we had a client change their mind on a special order item that they had selected from a custom tile manufacturer in Southern California. Ron and Paren ensured that our order was processed promptly, original tiles returned, new tiles received by next day air. We lost no time in our installation schedule and our client is immensley pleased by our performance and she has a beautiful new custom tile backsplash. Well done CTW...... read more

I have worked with them on a few projects all ready all with good success. Ann is extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the stones and tiles. They have a large variety of residential options in various price points. Craig was one of the best plumbing experts I have worked with. Too bad for us that he retired. However, the rest of the plumbing staff is well versed in plumbing knowledge and codes as well. Bring them the style you want and they will find comparable alternatives in a variety of prices. This is a really good tile/bath/kitchen showroom where it can be not so good to be a customer. One unfortunate Saturday we waited and waited for help, then we waited more. The staff were nonplused. Not a plus in my book. However, when you get service, it is very competent and they have a large selection of samples and installations to see what kind of thing you might want. So basically, it is a great place, just try and avoid Saturday or go early or start a fire drill first or something (no don't do that - though I was tempted). read more

I've been in several times to select tile and plumbing fixtures (CTW came highly recommended by both a plumber and a designer. Norma has helped me with tile, and Spencer with the plumbing fixtures. They both spent a lot of time with me, were extremely helpful and knowledgeable and kind. You may have to wait a bit to get someone to help you (the only reason I gave it 4 stars rather than 5), but it's worth it for the service and knowledge of the staff. Thanks! read more

I have been referring my clients to CTW for years. They have excellent service and always keep their displays current. They are up to date on current trends but also have a lot of the traditional tile that works in any space. I recently purchased tile from them for my own home as well and Perin helped me several times and was very patient while I changed my mind a few times! I can't say enough for how helpful Craig and the crew have been over the years. Our contractor insisted we work with them since we were ordering all of our remodel plumbing, sinks, toilets, tile etc from them. He was so right! all issues were taken care of immediately, replacements made no questions asked. We did a total gut remodel 5 years ago.
