Very bad experience. Floortex sent a very unprofessional installer who did a poor job and took a very long time. The Floortex salesman refused to correct the poor installation, and complained loudly and rudely that he was losing money on the deal. He offered to rip out the carpet and let me forfeit my deposit as his only remedy. The carpet was not set flush against the walls, and the pattern did not match where the seams were sewn together. The installer, who was in very poor health, took over twelve hours to complete a very small bedroom and short hallway. Now I'm stuck with expensive, poorly installed carpet and an an angry carpet salesman. read more

I was looking for carpet and cork flooring that would be as hypoallergenic as possible, rather than off gassing for weeks or even months. At a time when both materials were often out of stock, Floortex Design, and especially Rouben Kembikian, did an incredible job. Ruben made helpful suggestions as far as what to choose, especially the right type of carpet padding. He made several phone calls to find the cork flooring I wanted, and even ordered samples that I could take home. Then, he personally oversaw the installation. Everything fell into place perfectly. Excellent service, attention to detail and follow through. I recommend you contact Rudy Hassid before beginning any new flooring or refinishing project. We had some issues with existing Maple floors that were recently refinished, stained and coated by a local installer. He came out to the our house and consulted with us for an hour or so. Rudy looked at the areas we were concerned about, he did some measuring and testing, and was able to help us figure out a less costly solution to our problems. We installed new flooring and carpet throughout our fire-damaged home. We were referred to Floortex by our General Contractor. Floortex has a large selection of carpets, and a very impressive display of sample wood floors. The sales staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The carpet installation was very well done. More impressive, however, was the installation of the wood floors. We picked Cherry wood with a Brazilian Cherry border. The new floors, including the staircase, are just drop dead gorgeous. No, really, just drop dead gorgeous. The floors were installed exactly to specification. Then sanded after installation, then oiled and sealed x 3, and, really, just drop dead gorgeous. To be honest, I did not anticipate how lovely these floors would appear. I would suggest you shop around when ordering floors and carpet. We did, and Rudy was willing to adjust his prices based upon competitive bids. I would also suggest that you do this primarily with carpet. High quality carpet is pretty much the same whether ordered from a store or on the internet. You just need to find a competent installer. Wood flooring is a different issue. The quality of the installation is all important. And, you may find less expensive wood flooring at large internet warehouse sites, but you know nothing--in advance-- about the quality and patterning of the wood. I am sure we paid more for the flooring purchased and installed by Floortex. On the other hand, the quality of the wood was very good, and the installation, well, you already know what I think. And if there are any problems, Flcortex is there to remedy them. If you know a trustworthy local company like Floortex, I think it is unwise to take a chance on purchasing wood where the quality of both the wood and the installation is not assured. Paying a little more for peace of mind is almost always worth it. read more

They beautifully refinished our Edwardian wood floors throughout the main floor of the house; the new wool runner going up the stairs and into the upstairs hallway looks great; ditto for the area carpet installed in our sunroom. Special highlights: 1) they expertly installed a "French Knot" around our fireplace area that perfectly matches the already existing ones in the corners of the main floor rooms, 2) without any hesitation and with the utmost courtesy, they re-did a small area that needed attention. read more

Floortex just installed hard wood floors in our guest house and we are just blown away. The installer had to under cut the base boards and even took a 1/4 inch notch off the bottom of the doors so that the reducer fit perfectly in our bathroom. The installer was professional, on time and a highly skilled tradesman. If you are looking for flooring in Marin County you have to call them. I have had other hardwoods done and this is by far the highest quality experience to date. I knew they did high end homes and super high quality work but I just didn't know they were going to do that for me too. I highly recommend! read more
