This is belated review of Dave and Sunshine Flooring about 6 months after completion of the work. A friend recently asked for a referral to whoever did our floors and I realized a review of my experience here might be useful. I recommended Sunshine Flooring highly to my friend because my experience with Dave/Sunshine was outstanding. Almost without exception, when we have a guest over for the first time, they compliment the nice floors which is ironic given the fact that the floors were terrible when we purchased the house. First let me say that Dave and his crew are such great guys! That is the most important part of this review. Dave (and his crew) went OVER ABOVE on our jobs(s), which we truly appreciate. We had our floors done in 2020 and the company that did them, pretty much botched everything (and left lasting issues)... We hired Sunshine to come and redo the floors a couple years later. They worked super hard, redid our floors more than once, though for some reason our wood, its' previous finish or something, made our job a tough one. You know when you're talking to an expert. They exude confidence, a humble mastery of the subject matter, and an easy-breezy way of talking about it. I got that from David in the first meeting. The moment of truth, of course, is when we walked into our newly re-floored home for the first time after dropping a good sum of dough. That was a huge relief...it looked fantastic. Water damage and years of weight-bearing traffic had discolored our hardwood floors in the kitchen and family room. Nextdoor recommended Sunshine Flooring and its owner gave a very good assessment and estimate which included a much-appreciated discount. His foreman/workman were able to start work almost immediately. They updated us as to what to expect in their process of sanding and refinishing with non-toxic chemicals. The final product delivered on time were beautiful hardwood floors that looked like new and completely level. Their workspace was entirely clean upon departure. When we first moved into our home, we had Sunshine Flooring apply acrylic to the existing floors. We had a great experience with them, so when we decided address our floors as part of a kitchen remodel, we reached out to David. David evaluated some board samples and concluded we had one refinish left. He was transparent that while he could refinish it, he suspected we'd see a lot more nails showing through because the boards would be very thin. He laid out all our options so we could decide what was best for us and we ultimately chose to replace our floors with new engineered hardwood. David was extremely patient with us as we visited his showroom numerous times, taking floor samples and trying them out in our home. We eventually selected one and worked with David to set the install date. The wood surprisingly arrived earlier than expected, but David worked to fit us in and put a great team on the project. Our home has a significant slant, so David suggested we build up the subfloor to address it as best we could. He also walked us through the pro/cons of various install methods, but recommended a floating floor for our particular situation. We agreed with his recommendations, and David's team (Omar and Hector) did a wonderful job. They were fast, efficient and detailed oriented, working hard over a few weeks to achieve the look we were going for. We were admittedly very particular about the amount of knots in the floor and they worked with us to place heavier knotted boards in less conspicuous areas. We also ran into a situation where we were slightly short on boards and David kindly secured additional boxes to get our job done on time. Thank you! We absolutely love our new floors and now with our cabinets and counters in, the room has come together beautifully. Our wood floors were badly damaged, and David's team brought them back to life. I thought David was joking when he said they'd be smooth enough to slide on, because they were so uneven and like sandpaper before, but he wasn't kidding around! Our floors are amazingly smooth, the stain is perfect, and they just look amazing. Also of note: he promised to get the job done in a week, and he fulfilled that promise. We received a quote quickly from him, and it was very reasonably priced, and broken down in an easy to understand way (no shady hidden charges). There were a few unanticipated issues that surprised me and increased my costs. These problems were for the most part not of Dave or his team's making, so I greatly appreciated that Dave helped me cover some of this additional cost. He also threw in extras, like moving some furniture and cleaning my remaining carpets. And after project completion he came back over at my request to evaluate and sand-down two transitions which were bothering me.
