The photos speak for themselves. The floors didn't last two years before they started to crumble. I reached out to Greg Martinez and his installer William Hernandez via text and email with no response. Run while you can and avoid the same costly mistake of flushing thousands of dollars down the toilet. It is a shame too, as they were nice and tried, but ultimately the poor quality of flooring installed, coupled with their lack of response and ownership has forced me to write a critical review so that others don't suffer the same fate. read more

Our vinyl floor planks started peeling/lifting at the joints in certain areas of the house after 6 months. He replaced them. 6 months later they started peeling again. He blamed them on house movement. Said he would contact the mfg. Never heard from him again after multiple attempts to contact him. I suspect it was due to the thin planks we chose which was lower cost. But we would have happily paid more for reliability. He should have provided better guidance. See attached for example of the degradation. We've been using packaging tape to keep it down and prevent any foot injury. It eventually degrades and we have to deal also with the sticky residue. Ugggh! Also per the plumber we hired recently, Greg's crew also did not reinstall the toilets correctly for the upstairs bathroom. They should have used a double wax ring. This caused a leak in our garage ceiling. Double uggh and yuck. He's a nice guy and all, but I would not recommend him. read more

Grey installed the floor in our new house in early August. Renovating a house is such a hectic project (or should I say hundreds of projects) and we are so glad that we found Grey for the biggest part! It had been great from the beginning. Grey is very knowledgeable and communicated with absolute clarity. He was flexible to schedule the house walkthrough and he was very patient helping us choose the floor in his office (with plenty of choices!). He provided a precise estimate of the project time and cost which was precisely what they delivered in the end. William and another good folk were the team that installed the floor. I visited the house once every day just to check the progress, but I felt that was totally unnecessary. They are so good and so efficient and know their business very well. At the end of the project, they cleaned up everything and the house looked brand new. For a while I felt that I could scrap all other projects and moved in already! Grey also referred a great handyman, Lane Martin, to us in short notice after he realized that we needed help on some other stuff. It turned out great people know great people. Lane did an excellent job too. I'd leave a very positive comment on his page should he have a Yelp page as well. My wife and I appreciate everything Grey and his team have done in our new house. As an immigrant family with no prior experience of taking care of a SFH, it was overwhelming at the beginning, and they made it so much easier. read more

Greg Martinez the owner of Gregory's Floors was recommended by a friend to do the flooring at the Marin Alano Club in San Rafael. The Alano Club serves as a meeting place for 12 step programs. The club has many people and the floors needed to be waterproof and stain resistant. I met with Greg and he suggested a product that looked like wood and was attractive. Greg has a showroom in San Rafael on Jordan Street. After choosing the flooring, Greg sent an itemized list of what would be done. His crew was two guys William and Randy. These guys were amazing. Everything went like clockwork. They were fast and precise. The building is very old and many areas needed to be leveled and demoed. No details were overlooked. Their work was clean and tidy. In the end the floors were absolutely gorgeous! Greg is friendly and easy to deal with. He has been in the business for 40 plus years and his suggestions were spot on. I am a huge fan of Gregory's Floors after installing beautiful WPC flooring and carpeting at two of our investment properties. We plan to use Greg's team a third time to install WPC in our own home. For months we painstakingly researched all the options from hardwood to engineered wood to ceramic tile and even laminate. We were thrilled to learn about WPC in the process. We got quotes from local flooring boutiques and Home Depot, and decided to go with Home Depot, which carried the same products as the boutiques, and would save us thousands of dollars. Still we had great reservations that Home Depot's contractors might not get the work done on time because they had so many stipulations in their contracts. One of our rentals was built in 1965 so Home Depot's flooring contractor required a lead test. In the other rental, we weren't sure if the floor would be level enough for the WPC to go over the linoleum where it met the concrete slab hidden under the carpet that we were removing. With one rental occupied and the other soon to be we couldn't afford any delays. Then we read the Yelp reviews about Gregory's Floors. Problem solved. Greg not only assured us that the jobs would get done within a couple of days at the prices quoted, but he also came in under Home Depot's quotes. I recommended Greg to a realtor and a stager who also signed on with him based on my experience and research. Now I am finally getting around to sharing this recommendation with the Yelp community. As fate would have it, I needed a new floor again in a relative's condo in San Francisco in very short order - and immediately got in touch with Greg and the man AGAIN pulled a miracle out of his hat, turning a terrible situation into a success story. I had Greg update our floors using luxury vinyl planks and also carpet. He's a nice guy and gave us great selections. Easy to work with and on time. The contractors he partners with were very efficient with great quality. We did see some bulging in various areas after about a year, but Greg and his team resolved it quickly, replacing large segments of flooring to fix the issue at no cost. After meeting with several other flooring companies in San Rafael, I feel grateful to have discovered Gregory's Floors here on Yelp. When I first called Greg, he asked me what wood species I was looking at and proceeded to bring other samples to my home that were more durable and more elegant. He opened my eyes to something beautiful that I would have never discovered on my own. I did not receive this level of attention from the other companies I explored. Price was another factor that led me to go with Greg. The company that provided the carpeting for my home previously had provided me with a quote that was 42% more than Greg's proposal. While doing my research I felt like I had some foundation for what the project should cost, yet it wasn't until I talked to Greg that I didn't feel like I was getting ripped off. I cannot say enough about how happy I am about the quality of the flooring and how it has been installed. The wood is beautiful. The installers were very courteous and seemed personally committed to providing the best quality through their work that they could. I would highly recommend Gregory's Floors for these reasons. The reasons for four versus five stars have to to with customer service issues after the installation. They would not impede me from recommending or going back myself. My biggest disappointment was that after spending many thousands of dollars with Gregory's Floors that there was no follow up after the job. As quickly as I noticed my checks being deposited into his account, I was expecting some communication back asking me how things were going, etc. Nada. Had this been done, all the other nits that follow wouldn't have been an issue. The time and manpower needed for the job was underestimated. No big deal on my end, except for the fact that the installers had to rush to complete the job in an extra day allotted which left no time to do final touch-ups like painting to fill gaps that were promised by Greg. When I called Greg to ask that this detail work that he'd promised (over two different visits) be done, he obliged easily, yet not without telling me that this was not normally a service. While I appreciated that he sent his installer back, it didn't feel good that he was going against his original word. In their rush to complete the installation, the installers never left me with the wood they say they normally do to handle repair needs that might come up. Four weeks after installation I discovered a leaking ceramic plant saucer had stained my new flooring just 3 days before the installer was scheduled to come out to take care of the outstanding detail work. The installer took a look and Greg provided me with a cost to repair that included buying a box of wood. Since I learned that extra wood is typically provided, I asked Greg if he could work with me on cost since that wood was never provided. Greg never responded to my request and I decided not to pursue it because the sun had faded the water stain. read more

Can you put laminate flooring in an RV? That was the question I asked in my initial email to Greg Martin. Not only could he do it, his crew did the job so well that people literally drop their jaw when they step into my RV. We couldn't be happier with the work! Forget big box stores, Gregory's Floors beats their price anyway and has superior products and William, who is an absolute magician with installation. Since he's not a bricks and mortar store, I assume this saves considerably on overhead, allowing him to really compete at price. Greg has hundreds of product samples and will bring them to your house. He only works with top quality laminate (he also does hardwood and bamboo). In three days we had our entire upstairs redone in Brazilain Koa called Tigerwood. All new baseboards (which they painted) and trim too. Our little bungalow has been transformed and we're just over the moon with the job they did. I'd give them 6 stars if I could! Gregory's Floors just installed Laminate Flooring in my house this week. I chose this company as I had 3 estimates done including trying to find the best price on materials myself and just pay labor. The final result was Gregory has a one price installation charge which entails materials, labor and haul away. When broken down it amounts to very reasonable prices for labor, haul away, new baseboards and better quality flooring. They were also very good with moving the furniture around to get the job without an additional cost They have been installing for 17 years so you can feel confident they know what they are doing. I had an estimate Thursday and by the following Thursday I had beautiful Australian Cypress Laminate Flooring. I would definitely recommend this company to family and friends. read more

What more can I say than the 5-Stars I gave for Gregory's Floors? Before, then, I went the HD way and came away w/ a major headache... HD's installers stopped work on tear-up because of possible asbestos laced tiling below the worn carpet. However, the crew to do the job weren't certified to make such a call. Instead, my 4 bedroom furniture was left outside, including the torn up carpet on my lawn. This happened on a Thursday and didn't come back to till the following Tuesday to remove the carpet and that's after a heat wave. Moreover, they left my 8 "floor-to-ceiling" mirrored closest sliders outside (one of which was left cracked). Still, I removed the tiles and mastic as a precaution. Next up, they stated that all my floors needed re-surfacing which would have doubled my total cost for the job. So, I went on Craigslist for a re-surfacing specialist and that's when I cam across Gregory's Floors. Greg fielded my call and said he would be over w/in the hour... Now that's what I call prompt service! At our meeting, Greg explained that my floors didn't need re-surfacing and suggested that I go w/ a thicker laminate as the laminate that I had bought at HD was 7mm, Greg strongly suggest a minimum of 12mm thickness. Needless to say, HD didn't offer many options for 12mm for handscraped laminate (just two) and were triple my original purchase. Fortunately, I had a very good HD advocate on my side, Susan, who authorized a complete return of all products and install. Next up, I went over to Greg's home and was simply "blown away" w/ all the sample laminates he had on display. He even allowed me to take along 5 samples... And we're not talking the mini ones you get at HD, but, 2'x2' samples. After that, I put down a deposit (half the contracted price) and was set for the install. Here's the take-away on Greg, himself... This man knows his floors and was understanding and informative, not to mention a true Marinite "caricature" in the most positive of ways. From there, his chief floor installer, William, came to start the install. And although he was alone that day, he completed 2 of the 4 rooms... Now that's quite impressive! Come the next day w/ a 2-man crew, the job was completed and even re-patch my master BR's ceiling at a very nominal "side job" cost. In all, I got a better quality flooring material, full baseboard install (instead of HD's "quarter rounds") at a cost of less than what HD had originally offered that looks amazing!!! Hence, I would highly recommend Gregory's Floors and I will certainly pitch his superior flooring services to all my clients in need as a local Marin Realtor by trade. read more

WARNING - GREG IS UNLICENSED, AND A DEAD BEAT HE's lost 2 rounds of small claims court to me , ( he appealed my first claim and lost a second time) AND NOW HE's NOT PAYING HIS JUDGEMENT IF you plan on taking this phony to court, keep in mind he's no better for his court judgements than he is for his work. 5 top reasons this man should be run out of business NO License =- Greg refuses to show his license , it's not on his site and he's not listed in CA so my guess unlicensed His work is crap, his installers don't follow industry standards for installation and pre-installation testing and their work is sloppy , messy and you're lucky if it lasts a day The materials are plastic over cardboard and not the fancy samples he shows you when he and his flavor-of-the-week assistant come calling. When his floors begin to bubble , he makes up b.s. about moisture and his supplier sends a "licensed inspector" who performs a completely bogus inspection and is paid by Expo to make the homeowner at fault. You'll wait years to get a response , as he's usually in the Philippines or making up some story about illness, death or other lies when he's just in court with another customer who's been victimized by his bad business. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUY and hopefully he'll be out of business soon so no one else is victimized by this con man. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! this guy is a sham , and his product is junk. I had over 1000 sf of flooring installed by the elusive gregory and less than 1 month after the floors were installed they failed. I now have bubbling and warped boards all over the house and he and the supplier EXPO FLOORS, claim that it's my fault because i cleaned my floors ? I had laminate in my last house that lasted 30+ years, i carefully spray and dry my floors with bono , so they are full of it and refuse to replace this junk. Well I was tasked with sub'ing out some work to establish a new office. I asked around but didn't seem to get far with friends ref's. I was in a predicament. Everything in my house was in turmoil. First mold, then mold demolition, then finding a contractor, any contractor, to come back and repair the mess left from the demolition. Then finding the floor of my dreams (with another floor guy) and being told, first, that it was in stock and, then, that it was not in stock but, in fact, permanently discontinued. Then Greg came to the rescue. I'd fallen in love with just this one strain of Hickory, and no other would do! Greg searched high and low for that particular brand of wood. And he succeeded. Greg seemed like a great guy, and definitely knew everything there was to know about floors, but customer service was poor. When he came to our house to bid out the work and show us wood samples, we had a hard time finding something that matched the downstairs. We had found a sample from another store that matched the color perfectly, and Greg said he would try to track it down (or something similar) and send us a bid for the work within a weeks time.... it never happened. When we finally got a hold of him, he tried telling us to go to his distributor to try and find something that matched on our own. This would have been fine, but he said he was going to do it 3 weeks earlier. I'm sorry, but I want to hire someone that follows through with their work, and at least tries to make their customers feel important. read more

Just wanted to give an update. After a long piece of trimming became unglued, I asked Greg for some extra trim pieces so that I can fix the problem. Greg dropped off two 8 foot trim pieces to my husband and I at no extra charge. While he couldn't fit me in for a weekend day to help me fix the glue issue, I really appreciated that he dropped off the pieces to me at no charge. read more

Greg and his crew know their stuff very well.. They are one of the most experienced in the business. I spoke to at least 5 businesses for floor replacement at my home. All five of them were highly rated on yelp but Greg was the most responsive and also offered a great price. The others were way too pricey and had to email or call a few times to get a quote from most of the businesses. On the scheduled day, two gentlemen showed up. They were very friendly and hard working. They took just one day (~9 hours) to replace ~600 ft of floor (yes, 1 day!!!) and their work was of the highest quality. We are very satisfied and it feels so nice to come home with brand new floors. These guys were happy to move the furniture around and replace them as if nothing changed.
