I can't say enough about Ivan! He has been instrumental in my journey with the spa & umbrella. I've had the hottub for 2 yrs and unfortunately the umbrella broke ($500 umbrella, non repairable). I needed Silk Balance for my hot tub before I ran out and tried to get some at a deep discount from two scam websites, one from China, and maybe the other as well. Amazon was and is charging too much for the product and I save a little bit getting it from Creative Energy. Delivery wasn't without some bird dogging on my part, but it eventually arrived. The installation crew for our new spa were early and did a fantastic job. They had to cut up the 20+year old one to cart it away. Got the new unit leveled and connected, all in about an hour and a half--done by the time they were scheduled to get here--the and area was completely clean. We purchased our hot tub from Creative Energy twelve years ago now, and have only had to have one big repair--replacement of the heater--after ten years of daily use. We also replaced the cover with a new one after about ten years. We use our hot tub daily--sometimes twice daily (early morning, and then late, late at night as the best 'sleeping potion' ever!). It's been very high quality--hosting teen 'hot tub parties to solo relaxing 'read and drink a (plastic) glass of wine'--week after week, year after year...and the few times we've needed anything (new chemicals, or a new drain cover), the staff at Creative Energy has been prompt with service. Looking for service on your home spa? Be very wary of this company! We recently needed some service on our home spa and had a hard time locating someone that serviced San Francisco. Creative Energy was recommended (with a warning) to us by someone else who uses them. I called the service number and explained to them the spa came with the house we just purchased and there was no information on the type or where it was purchased. I specifically asked if they service older spas since ours looks to be quite old. Their answer....YES. On the phone she even went so far as to talk about how the repair guy keeps parts in his truck and if needed they would order them for us. She even looked up our address in their files to see if they had sold it to the previous owner, but found nothing. I scheduled an appointment, the repair guy showed up, took one look at the spa, found the problem (crack in the filter) and said he has a couple options to fix it and would have to check with his boss on what to do. He would get back to us with a quote. Total time spent so far with this guy...7 minutes (if that). Next thing I know, I get a bill from the company for $100+ and a note at the bottom saying we don't fix spas we didn't sell. Contact your local spa company. WHAT?! They knew the situation about the spa, that it was an older model and that it was not purchased from them, but they still came out for "service". If they were not going to fix a spa that was not theirs...well you see where the problem lies. I called them to clear up the issue and all they said was, "You told us on the phone it was our spa." Well I have had a h Hot tub for 10-15 years and very little problems if any. One time comes to mind when one of the Service Tech. Dave came out to house to fix spa, he was very kind and told me that he would let me know in a min what the problem was. About 15 min. later he came to me and said that it was the filters, filters that I had not cleaned. so instead of just leaving, he taught me how to clean filters and told me why it was so important. We went to the Pleasanton Store after narrowing down possible hot tub companies. Blake Braden was super helpful and answered all of our questions. We even " wet tested":the spas that we were interested in purchasing. We were not pressured to buy that day, but received a competitive estimate. We returned to the store a few weeks later and purchased the spa we had chosen There was no pressure and all of our questions were answered by Ivan Berry . He was super helpful. When the spa was ready to be delivered, I had several conversations with Doris, who was very accommodating and flexible as far as scheduling. On the date of the delivery, the spa was delivered, set up and the 3 guys were great! While we were installing, there was a vital question that needed an immediate answer. Ivan Berry connected us with one of the top persons in the company, Dave Kaston, who called me directly. We had one other issue setting up and Ivan arranged to have technician, Joe, respond to the house within hours. Joe triaged and fixed the issue. Ivan is due to come over tomorrow to personally instruct us regarding care, maintenance and chemistry for our new tub. Great Customer Service! I can't say enough about the quality and customer care of this company. We had a great experience with Creative Energy service, Dave Kirley was our tech and he was very nice, experienced and knowledgable. We have an older hot tub and for the most part we've had no issues, but as with all old things, there is a need for updating and minor repairs. When I called to schedule an appointment they were able to get someone out the next day. Dave called when he was on his way, arrived on time and diagnosed the problem in minutes and told me what needed to be fixed, why it happened, the cost to fix and how to prevent it from happening again. He finished in a little over an hour and re-explained the cost and repairs made. read more

I had them come over regarding my gas fireplace and they wrote up a quote for over $600. replacing pilot assy etc..this was a year ago..anyway I got the fireplace working and it's been working since Feb./2020 just this week it went dead I change the inside battery and its fixed...I would go to someone else next time if needed. read more

We have a hot springs spa that is about 10 years old and we have had creative energy out to repair our spa twice in the last few years. On both occasions they have sent Dave Kirley. Dave was on time, found our problem, and repaired the problem in a very efficient manner. We are in Oakland and found the service charge of 148.00 to be fairly high ....but it did include the first 1/2hour of service and Dave repaired the spa with in the time limit. Service for my Watkins spa (which I bought from them in 1980-something) used to be good, but I'll never call CE again for repairs. The heater wasn't working, and on top of the initial $144 diagnosis visit, I was quoted $428 in parts and labor for two very expensive new parts. I watched the tech at work, and could tell he was just guessing about what was wrong, which made me think to call the manufacturer. The manufacturer gave me the number of a parts company that stocks the parts in question and I got a quote for $80 less than Creative Energy had given me. So in addition to getting a wholesale discount, CE was marking up the retail prices by about 30%. When the parts arrived from the parts house, my husband, who is a banker by trade--not a senior technician--opened up the control box to see what was what. He immediately spotted a wire that was disconnected and charred. For a $2 length of wire and connector at the local hardware store he fixed the problem in about 5 minutes. (CE had held my hot tub hostage for more than 3 weeks, between their busy appointment schedule, delays in getting the quote, having to wait for parts to come in, etc.) I need my hot tub for therapeutic (and sanity) reasons, and CE was simply unprofessional, uninformed, unhelpful, and a ripoff. We had an old spa that was basically useless. Just happened to walk into the Creative Energy Store - we were looking for a patio heater next door to them. Looked and talked about spas and later decided we should replace ours. The owner (John) came out himselt and measured, did the paper work and the spa was on the way. When the new spa came in the delivery crew took out the old (disgusting underneath) spa and set up the new one. We ran into a little problem with the existing deck but they adjusted and made everything work. Clean, polite, with a positive attitude. Love the new spa! After reading other reviews I felt compelled to write about my experience with Creative Energy. Last year we purchased a gas fireplace insert at discount from their Richmond showroom. I received a call from their office stating that they did not feel comfortable selling us the refurbished unit and would give us a brand new insert for the same discounted price that we were quoted. Dave came by to install the fireplace with little problem. However when my husband got home, he wanted the side panels trimmed a bit so I contacted their office and Dave returned to make the change. I have to say, it has been a year and we are more than thrilled with our gas insert. I think we received fabulous customer service and believe they are a company that stands behind their products. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking to put a gas insert into their fireplace. As far as spas go, I have no experience with that. We continue to receive their follow-up e-mails and appreciate that they are family-owned and operated. read more

I have had my Hot Springs spa for 25 years. I bought it on the recommendation that it was very well designed and easy for their tech support to maintain it. This has proven to be completely true. Friends of mine who bought other hot tubs at that time have long since sent them to the dump. Most recently our tub stopped working. Dave Kirley came out promptly and diagnosed the problem. I signed a work order to get it fixed and as soon as they had the required parts they scheduled an appointment. Dave came back and did a thorough job replacing the circulating pump and reworking much of the plumbing. My old tub lives on thanks their quality support. Great job Dave. One complaint: I repeatedly asked to call me on my cell phone but the office kept calling back on my home phone. A little tighter on the communications would be appreciated. read more

They have gotten too big for their britches. their service department sucks. they dont return calls. They claim they want to help you out and then slam you. they wanted $650 to replace my spa cover. the COVER!!! $150 of that is delivery charge. Their spa covers leak and get waterlogged. then all the material inside falls apart so when you open the cover to drain all the crap drains into your tub. they dont warranty their work. i have now found spa mania in novato. $300 for a cover and a $30 delivery fee. creative energy, you will get what is coming to you as you drive old customers away!!! 1 day later - let me now add to my review that today i received a nastygram from John Kasten, owner of Creative energy. first his math skills leave one wondering... bought spa cover in 2005, it is now 2012, his comment is did i expect it to last 12 years? try 7 John, for starters. then he asks me if i really think "we can afford servicing you?". HAHAHA!!! They cant afford to service me?????i will spare you all the gory details but their records of our conversations are totally one-sided. a repairman comes out to fix something, next day something else is broken. did the repairman break it? "Well we asked him and he said no". Really? did you expect another answer? so John, Dear John, i wont be requiring your service any longer, nor will any of my associates. also, writing bad reviews on yelp about other spa dealers is just downright dishonest. you should be ashamed of yourself. After this review i got a letter from their marketing director which you can read. this is my response to him. Dear Alex, You may have been saddened to hear things got out of hand. But your president John apparently was not. His letter to me was out of line and unprofessional. Not all the facts in the documentation he sent are accurate. I was happy to buy my covers from you and have you service my spa when your prices were reasonable. You never charged me $150 before to deliver and remove the cover. Your service rep, I cannot remember her name, told me I was welcome to pick it up. common, really? What kind of vehicle would I need to pick up a cover? The last bill I got for a cover from you in 2005 was $385. Now its $550. I just cant afford it. what sparked my review was the attitude of your president and employees who were rude and condescending. I left John a voicemail to see if we could work something out. I got that letter in return. I had told him I couldn't afford it and I would just as soon have my tub removed. He said he didn't want to see that happen, that he would get back to me, then sent me the letter. How dare he say he "could not afford to service my tub". That is laughable. One of your repairmen broke the light switch that I had paid to have removed. The day before he came it was working, the day after, not so much. I asked if they would fix it. they told me it was out of warranty and wanted a minimum of $180 to fix it. I asked if someone could just come by when they were in the area, no rush. The answer I got was no. I am getting a hot springs cover. It is made to fit my specific spa. Its $310 and a 30 delivery fee. $70 to clean all the crap from the old cover that exploded. And a courtesy fix of the light problem. That is what I call customer service. And I am a new customer. This company has abismal customer service!! This is actually the first yelp review I've been motivated to write, so I'm not just some irate person who puts these up all the time. I feel like I need to warn people and maybe, just maybe this will help another company decide to cary Avalon parts! I pray for that! I have been wrestling with these guys to get them to give me a quote, make and appointment and actually come to my house to fix my fireplace for almost 4 months at this point and it has stillll not happened.
