From being greeted so friendly by the hostess to being sat, the night started off great! Having 2 younger kids, and a teen. We usually get "pushed aside" from servers a lot of the time. Not tonight (Last weekend). Taylor was our waitress and she was SUPER sweet, kind, patient and very attentive. Even after it being busy and running around, she still made time for her tables. I'm a server as well and I work in a high volume restaurant. She's amazing! Wish we had more Taylors in the service industry. The food was amazing! My boys had spaghetti with meatballs, I ordered a small special, and my husband ordered the chicken, broccoli Alfredo. Everything was amazing! From service to meal!! Even nice clean bathrooms! This was my favorite pizza place in the 70's. College days with a group of friends. In my opinion the best pizza around. Thin crust real Italian pizza. Life happens and I moved to PA. Just recently moved back to this area and live in CT. Decided to take the ride to check it out hoping it was still delicious and I was not disappointed it was everything that I remembered. So unexpectedly Joes was closed. After driving down figured Roberto's would be ok. Boy were wrong. It was pretty bad. Seemed like some discord between the waitress and bartender. Took way too long to pour a beer and glass of wine. The waitress threw the bartender under the bus about the delay. Our appetizer came before our drinks somehow. The app was just ok. Both of us ordered mussels with Diablo sauce. It wasn't good closer to bad. Sauce was minimal and not a lot of flavor. Definitely bland if it's supposedly a Diablo sauce. Thin crust pizza was just like I like it as I needed a replacement for the thin crust pie I used to have in NJ. SPOT ON! Went there on a Wednesday evening at around 7pm and got one of only a couple of booths still available. Was seated within a minute and a tall glass of water was brought over right away as we were asked if we'd like any other drinks as well. Asked for Pepsi (no Coke) and got a nice tall glass right away as well. Ordered the pie and informed the waitress we'd be having Lasagna and a cannoli for the road. The atmosphere was positive and there was a lot of talking and laughing amongst the customers. I was exceptional pleased because my wife (who is sick) was sucking it all in, people watching. Usually I can't keep in one place for long because she needs to be occupied:) We finished half the pie and the takeout lasagna as well cannoli were right on time to get wrapped up. The waitress packed it all up in a bag and I bet that leftover pie will taste even better for lunch tomorrow...4 minutes at 400 in the convection oven! read more

I'm so impressed with this place. I came during the pandemic when it was pick up only. They were friendly over the phone, had alllll the COVID precautions place, and were even more friendly in-person. The Caesar salad is so delicious. So, so delicious. The croutons are soft and the dressing is mind blowingly flavorful. The garlic knots are okay but not like the ones you can get in NYC. They are basically rolls that have garlic salt on top so the flavoring is light. They were also a bit over cooked (tough/burnt bottoms). The bread is tasty in general, but were they garlic flavored? Only a bit. I wish these rolls had fresh garlic baked into them and were buttery. Despite the lack of flavor in their garlic knots, they're still better than some others I've had in New England. It's clearly just how they do them up here, so it's not a mark I'm holding against Roberto's. The chop chop salad is also good (like, 7.5/10). Definitely choose to go with the ranch they suggest. It's delicious. I really liked everything about this place. And I will absolutely be back here to try out more things...like the 'za. read more

This place has been a family favorite since I was a kid. My tastes have changed a lot since then, but there's something on the menu for everyone here. I used to be a picky eater (cheese pizza) and now I'm having a hard time deciding what to eat because it's ALL GREAT! The white goat pizza is a go-to for me and my sister when we're dining together. Eggplant Parmesan is awesome. I could eat my body weight in zucchini fries. This is such a warm, casual atmosphere and the service is really good and friendly. Great stop for homey Italian food. They made a custom salmon with pesto pasta for dh who can't have cream it was amazing. I had Roberto's casserole seemed like they took pizza toppings and put them in a dish with sauce I was hoping for a full pieces of chicken a meatball and a sausage instead it was chopped up meat but the sauce was delicious. Jerk and buffalo wings delish!The chop chop salad was fantastic we had the lemon basil dressing yummy! The staff were like family and very accommodating. I have to admit that in the past, I have enjoyed Roberto's pizza -- until tonight. I had one of the worst pizzas I have had in years. Soggy crust, wizened and burnt sun dried tomatoes, little bits of I think sausage, and green peppers when I had ordered pepperoni. Plus, when I received the bill, they were charging me for the green peppers. I complained and she removed it. However, when I pointed out, at the moment we received the pizza that I had ordered pepperoni, not green peppers, her response was pp and gpp are very close. She offered to take back the wrong half and give me a new pizza. No, that meant my wife and I would have separate supper times! The answer should have been, " Sorry, my mistake. Let me take that back and I'll put in a new order." That didn't happen. She didn't even offer us a drink to make up for it! A formerly good restaurant is now a mediocre pizza joke. read more

Not really sure what changed here. I remember going to Roberto's in the past and enjoying a beautiful well cooked meal. Tonight my guests and I were disappointed. It started well enough with a order of chop salad. Freshly made and presented it was dressed perfectly and was enjoyed by all. Both my mom and wife ordered chicken parmigiana. When the plates were delivered my wife had chicken but my mom had eggplant. My mom was less than pleased and the waitress had clearly put in the wrong thing. The waitress offered to take it back and ordered the dish again but being my brother's birthday (who is brain injured) and he already had his food she said she would eat it. My wife's chicken was overcooked and dry. The pasta was not el-Dante....also overcooked and mushy. I ordered seafood stew which the menu states is a deliciously zesty white wine and tomato seafood stew with mussels, shrimp, scallops, calamari and fresh fish. Well this was a watery soup with mussels, shrimp, what I believe was frozen bay scallops (the size of pencil erasers) and calamari. I could find no sign of the fresh fish that the menu mentioned. When thinking stew I assumed a rich somewhat thick bowl of solid ingredients with a savory broth that just covered it. This wasn't it. Not zesty at all, no fish and a disappointment. I guess there's a reason most tables around us were ordering and enjoying the pizza. With so many other eating options inNorthampton I will have a hard time returning. read more

Classic, homey Italian restaurant at the edge of downtown with friendly service. Went because the one thing both of my 4 year old twins will eat at a restaurant is pizza. If you're a New Haven apizza aficionado then do what you can to ignore the crust. This pizza is about the toppings and flavor combinations and they're great. We also had the chopped salad based on a previous yelp review. It hit the spot. Wanted outdoor casual dining and decided on Roberto's as we were driving past it. Very basic menu. Tried the Cobb salad (to share) along with lasagna and chicken parmigiana. Four stars for the large tasty Cobb salad (but who puts scallions on a Cobb and where were the hard boiled eggs?). Lasagna was drowned by thick greasy cheese. Chicken parm was most definitely commercial (the frozen breaded fried chicken type). Service was good and prices reasonable. Not at all memorable and no reason to rush back. read more

Stellar service, delicious flavorful food, and a comfortable atmosphere to spend time with friends and loved ones - what more could one ask for! We visited Hampshire County for February school break with our kids, and were very excited to try out the Italian food at Roberto's. Our kids shared an order of mac and cheese - which was some of the most delicious homemade macaroni and cheese we have tasted! It was creamy, the macaroni was cooked just right, and the food was brought of fast! I ordered a small Greek salad, and a small Roberto's special pizza - both which were larger portions then I expected, so I gladly took home my yummy leftovers. My husband ordered the chicken Parmesan, and loved it so much that he ate it all in that one sitting! The decor was casual and comfortable, they had a nice selection of wines to choose from, and to top it all off a they have freshly made cake for dessert! This place is despicable. Food used to be good. Customer service is an abomination. I was witness to an incident that will forever keep me from crossing the threshold. I was dining there the other night when a party came in to celebrate, what I learned, was a birthday. There were 7 people. I overheard either the manager or bartender say that they can only seat 6. I looked around and saw a party of 7 already seating. I didn't pay much attention until I heard the staff say they made an exception for that table. The new party didn't understand why that table was exempted from the rule, mandate, whatever. They were allowed to sit at 2 booths splitting them up. Then I heard that the gentleman, whose birthday it was, was not only autistic, but they were regulars. I asked the server if there was a rule in Northampton about seating only six, and they replied, " No. it's our rule." So you aren't going to bend and let another table of 7 sit? Apparently not. Was it because the birthday person was autistic? Were they being discriminating? There was no commotion other than from management. Then they just left. I will never ever go there again after witnessing the conduct of the staff. They were hideous to a young man who wanted pizza for his birthday. I promise Roberto's that not only will I not go there again, but I'm planning on repeating this story on as much social media and word of mouth that I possibly can. read more

Italian is never my first choice when eating out since it is easy to make excellent Italian food at home. But this was a family members choice (they had a GC) Meh. We all got pasta dishes. They were bland and overcooked. Personally I had the Puttanesca since the BF won't eat olives so I enjoy having that when out. If it was not for the saltiness of the olives it would have no taste at all. It was the equivalent to eating at Olive Garden(which I stopped eating at YEARS ago). Generic bland Italian that is cheap and pumped out fast. No thanks. I am not sure where people get their taste for Italian with all the 5 Star reviews here. Sometimes I wonder if I am too picky about food. The service was good, our waitress was friendly and attentive. Sadly not enough so to make up for the mediocre food. read more

The food was awesome but the service was crap. The Food: The portions are huge and the food is amazing. The Service: We walked in and were the only people waiting to be seated. There were no lack of employees wandering/standing around the place, yet it took about five minutes for somebody to acknowledge and finally seat the two of us. It also took a long time for the waitress to take our order and I had to ask her to refill our mugs of water after we were served the food, which is inexcusable in a restaurant that wasn't all that busy. We went here on a Friday night, It is seriously dated, like walking into your parents basement in the 1970's with paneling and drop ceilings! Parking is tight but we were lucky! It was crowded, the service was slow and the waitress forgot a couple things. But the food! was GREAT!!! This is fantastic, thin crust pizza. The same recipes from the original owners. If you go here, just get pizza, the entrees aren't worth it...but the pizza is awesome. The service also tends to be on the slower side, but friendly. As a native, it's nice to have classic pizza still around. The new owners tried to update the decor, but all the crap hanging on the old (original) wood panel walls just looks tacky. There's a tiny bar, but it's a little too cramped for my taste. Parking can be tough in the area, so be warned. Being an old building, it's not handicapped accessible easily (I think there's a ramp at the back door) and only 2 handicapped spaces, so it's tough to take my mom there. But the pizza is worth it! If they're busy, there's not really anywhere to wait, fyi. read more

Went there the other night, for the first time, after shopping in Noho. We wil NEVER go there again.........do not waste your money or time. 1) Atmosphere is HORRIBLE at best. I'd give it a -1, if we could. 2) Service, very , very slow. 3) Utensils, we could have bent our fork and knife with one hand, So CHEAP and TINNY.
