Hubs, daughter and I went here last night as a pre-adoption celebration. We had a short wait for a table and I had a delicious DownEast cider at the bar while we waited. The bartender was pleasant and quick! We were then seated. We waited awhile for our server to come over. Others sat after us were greeted right away but we just sat for almost 10 mins waiting for her to come. She finally came and we ordered and then we never saw her again until we desperately needed drink refills and had to flag her down. We also had to go get her and ask for the check and then flag her down to pay. Again others sat after us had wonderful service and attentive servers ours was just not. The food though, was DELICIOUS!!!! I had the Sinatra Pizza and it was sooo freaking yummy. Hubs got Roberto's Casserole which is a meat lovers dream. While it was way too hot to eat for awhile(was it cooked on the sun?)and pretty greasy it was good. Their garlic knots are amazing!!! We ate outside here on a nice day during the summer. We arrived around 6:30 and were surprised to find that we were the only patrons that were dining outside during the entire duration of our meal. It soon became evident why. First, an old school minivan dropped off a mid 40's year old couple who were clearly engaged in an affair and were arguing loudly in the Roberto's parking lot for a solid 10 minutes. Next, a homeless man walked up to our table and asked for food. Finally, a man who was either high or just very weird rode his bike through the parking lot and up to the entrance walkway and jokingly kept telling people that he was going to sue them ("You crashed your car into my bike!") We thought all of this was decent entertainment, but I could see it ruining a meal for other customers. Be aware if you do dine outside, there are a lot of characters in the area. The food itself was decent. We had a very good 10" inch pizza, generously filled glass of wine, and chicken bruschetta sandwich for $26. Not bad at all for a nice Friday evening dinner out. read more

As a Dad I am always in search of a fun place to bring my daughter. (Fun meaning family friendly, a place where we can both relax and enjoy the atmosphere and a decent meal.) Last night I took my daughter here and wow. The atmosphere was cozy and familiar. Family friendly and fun at the same time. The interior was vintage in a warm and familiar way. Extremely slow service... Took more than 20minutes to get our drinks after we ordered them.. And another 45 minutes to get our food after that, all we ordered was a small pepperoni pizza, a Caesar salad, and a chicken parm sub. The pizza and salad came out and then 10 minutes later the (burned) sub/fries came out. The food was average. I can understand being slow when it's busy but there were very few people there. Love this place and I get takeout all the time! The mac and cheese is TO DIE FOR (but you'll want to add some salt and pepper! I also recommend adding Frank's Red Hot, such a good combo). It reheats super well too. The white goat pizza is great, and don't miss the chocolate cake, which is always rich and moist with delicious cream cheese frosting. Service is always super friendly and lovely as well. The only tiny complaint I have is that the pizza crust could be better, but the pizza is still great anyway. read more

Food was incredible - we all got pizzas. I got a gluten free pizza and the waiter told me it was dangerous for me to order the gluten free pizza because the cooks "throw flour everywhere." This was concerning and upsetting for me as I have celiac disease. I still ordered the pizza and felt fine. Came here on a Saturday night with 4 people. We ordered drinks and appetizers which came promptly. However, my mom ordered fish and chips special for her meal and they told us 20 minutes after putting the order in that it was sold out. We later ended up seeing two people who came in 45 mins after us both eating fish and chips. In total we ended up waiting an hour and 20 minutes for our food..which was a burger, two pizzas, a salad and mussels-not complicated. Our waitress disappeared for the last half hour we waited, and we grew more frustrated and less hungry. I went up to find our waitress and told her we would like to speak to the manager. The manager came over ten minutes later, as our food was trickling out. Not sure of her name but she was tall and blonde. We told her how long we had been waiting and that we were no longer hungry and frustrated by the service. She was completely unapologetic and making excuses for our wait. I have worked as both a cook and a server and when a table is upset you should acknowledge their feelings, apologize, and then try and fix the situation maybe by offering a round of drinks and taking the main courses off the bill. This manager was very rude and unprofessional about it. She didn't care how we felt and instead said, "Well, everyone had to wait about 45 minutes for their food. You can just take this food for free if you want." And she said all of this on a very rude tone. Fed up, we decided to pay for the drinks and appetizers and tip the waitress, but not pay for or take the main dishes. The waitress took about 15 more minutes to bring us the bill. This was the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. I do not recommend Roberto's if you value good service. read more

We had a great trip for lax this weekend. Every other place we went to was great!! The service and food were a C- I would not recommend.

What happened?? Some highlights of the visit for dinner; drinks, pizza and the salad. My mom got the chicken parmesan which seemed to be some overcooked breaded chicken with more overcooked pasta and a splash of tomato sauce from the can to top it off. My father got a seafood stew, which was more of a medley of frozen seafood in a thin soup like liquid. My grandmother had also gotten the chicken Parmesan but instead received eggplant Parmesan instead. Again, overcooked with the eggplant, the pasta withtomato sauce out of the can. The pizza was OK. We ordered the Roberto's House Special. There were toooo many canned button sliced mushrooms. The rest of the ingredients seemed fresh. The Chop Chop Salad was fresh and dressed properly. We also ordered Garlic Bread and that was a huge Disappointment! It was a Grinder Roll that was mediocre at best. Ordered take-out. Was told 45 minutes and was strung along for an hour and a half! Placed our order on the phone and drove there for the 45 minute pickup. When I arrived I was told it would be 10 minutes. Paid the bill, but I should have waited until the order arrived. After waiting 20 minutes I was assured that the order would be done in 5 or 6 minutes. Waited outside for 15 minutes, as I was told we could wait there and they would bring it out to us. Went back inside to ask for our money back. Was told that they just saw someone boxing up our order. Stood like a fool for another 10 minutes. When the order came out the server was very apologetic. We were lied to when we placed the order and were told 45 minutes; lied to when we were told 10 minutes; lied to when told 5 or 6 minutes. Charming staff, good enough food, so why the one-star eating? There are times when a management problem overshadows the entire experience. This was clearly one of those times. Never again. read more

I had dinner for the first time at Roberto's last night as part of a dinner party. The food was fine; pizza and salads were good. The service was terrific. Our waitress was very attentive, helpful, and very nice. The manager, however, was hostile and difficult. She was grumpy when we arrived, argued about the number of guests and our seating arrangement ( which was not creating problems for other guests or the servers) and seemed to have a chip on her shoulder. Went there once to take in a game with friends. One bartender gave us the remote(it was dead) so we could mute the commercials during time outs. Next bartender came on and just chatted with her friends the whole time and then demanded the remote back because we were muting the commercials. Really unprofessional. Robertos's makes an Excellent 5 StarPizza! This evening we decided to try a couple of Appetizers before the Pizza. That is primarily the reason for only 3 Stars. The PEI Mussels were beautiful in size and tenderness, Unfortuneately, the white wine and garlic sauce was not very good. The White wine was poured directly onto the open mussels and it was Not a good wine. It tasted very harsh and RUINED the taste of the dish. We ordered a Diet Cola and a Stella Artois. No straw for the soda and no glass for the beer! We sat for awhile thinking the server would come back. (But she didn't) We hailed her as she was clearing the table next to us. Alas, she never brought the glass or straw. I got up and went to the bar area where the server was clearing another table I stood by patiently waiting for her to look at me. No...she would not give me eye contact and she walked right by me to the waitress station. I followed her hoping for a straw but, no straws there! She never brought the straw or the glass. The hostess or the food runner brought our appetizers and I asked for a glass and a straw and she promptly brought them to the table. Yay...finally a sip of beverage! This place is a hidden gem! We came in for dinner on a rainy Friday night. Our waitress was a hoot and the food was excellent. The calamari was fresh and cooked perfectly. I expected overcooked, chewy squid but I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was! I ordered pasta puttanesca with spinach fettuccine, and was enjoying it so much, I got halfway through the meal before realizing they gave me the wrong kind of pasta! No big deal, but the waitress was kind enough to send us home with some dessert to make up for the error, she was a doll! If I ever find myself in Northampton again, I'll be back! read more

We've lived here for 40 years and I love the fact that Roberto's hasn't changed a bit since I was a kid. Good dinners, excellent garlic bread, and some of the best thin crust pizza around western mass, save Red Rose and maybe Joe's. Roberto's has more room than Joes's, thank god, and the waitresses are a little friendlier. No, the decor is nothing to write about. If you're looking for trendy, there's a dozen other NOHO restaurants that won't let you down. But Roberto's will always be our place to kick back and enjoy a casual night out with friends and family. read more

OK, here's the thing. They make their own Caesar dressing and it's stupendous. I'm in love with the fried pepperoni which they sell as a side. Their side veggies are amazing and everything is usually just delicious. The downside is that you need a LONG time to eat there. The service is very, very slow and it's likely you won't be seated right away. As long as you have like, 1.5 - 2 hours for dinner on a slow night, you'll be fine. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the waiting... Overall, we love this place. Just not when we have somewhere else to be. read more

Roberto's probably isn't the best restaurant in town, but it is my favorite. I've been coming here my entire life and worked here for 4 years as a teenager so it feels like home to me. They have the best pizza anywhere in the valley and the pasta dishes are solid as well. Great salads and wings as well as other appetizers. As much as I enjoy their other offerings I always just end up getting pizza, it too good to pass up. Much like Joes across town this is a place is an institution. My housemate's pre-bd bash was held in the backroom. Pizza, beer, good company, vibrant walls, and Italian hospitality.

I grew up eating at this restaurant but have since moved out of state. Roberto's is my first request when we return home to visit family. The pizza has always been, and continues to be, my favorite and has remained consistent even through the shift to new management. Perhaps even more enjoyable than the pizza is the antipasto. The marinated mushrooms are delicious but what makes this antipasto out of this world are the beets. Make sure to order this giant salad for the table, you won't be disappointed. read more

I came here on a Friday night with my girlfriend. They were able to seat the two of us immediately at a little before 6pm in the bar area, but the wait time definitely picked up after that. We ordered garlic bread, which was delicious and took maybe 20 minutes to come. I got the eggplant parmesan which was nothing special but not bad and incredibly large portioned. She ordered a small cheese pizza which looked similarly average tasting. Given how crowded the place was, the service was decent, slower than I would have liked but understandable. It was okay....but. Hamp native here, though have not been in Roberto's for nearly 20 years. Thought I'd try it again, especially because of the ease of park in a lot across the street so designated. Not much in redecorating has been done. Service was good until the long wait to get my bill and then another wait for the card to be returned. What a great way to end a holiday weekend! It was a very busy night and everything was great. They have the best pizzas! The pizza guy even came out to see how we liked it all. This is a local eatery that has rested On it's laurels for much too long. They clearly have not reinvested in their building and it is dilapidated and does not look even clean. Somehow or another they manage to get out pretty good food. More recently I was stuck in a wait with large party that was supposed to be a minute wait initially that wound up being an hour and a half. The food came out slowly, the waitress was quite pleasant but somehow disappeared when it was time to pay. We were captive from 630 until 1030. The $15 cake charge was way over-the-top after spending $400 for 10 people. Perhaps they should reinvest that $15 and get some new roof tiles that don't look like they're going to fall down or turn down the heat and save a few dollars. read more
