How do they get their crust thin, but not too thin like 'thin-crust' thin? How do they get it crispy, but not burnt or crumbly? How can it manage such flavor being just the bottom of the pizza slice? I stopped in this humble pizzeria for a quick slice on a snowy day and found them busy despite the weather. I don't think it's just because the pizza and sauce is memorable, but because the staff was friendly and warm. I left with a sixth of a pizza as their per slice option, and found a brief moment in their often turned their basic offering from the still countertop to new and hot life. J even heard their vintage Street Fighter 2 cabinet works. I glimpsed it in their dining room, which had adequate booths and space for me besides the customers visiting at the hour. I'll possibly grab another slice if I manage to drop by this part of Hadley-- they're right across from the Mobil gas station. read more

Is the small town local pizza shop in the town of Hadley mass right on route nine. Diagonally across from the Mobil station. We've gone here a few times and every time we have never disappointed they have the absolute thins pizza they ever had in my life. And also all the fresh ingredients you can buy by the slice or the whole pie. Each pizza is four slices fill up when you buy it. You can buy by the slice so you can get four different kinds of pizza and your pizza. It was amazing. Even though they close at 10 o'clock and we walk in the door at like 20 minutes and nine they still had a variety of pizzas on the shelf to be sold they had a cheese and a pepperoni they had the house special. They had a chicken bacon ranch and they also had a chicken taco pizza. I mean, where can you go at night almost 9 o'clock at night and still get a really good variety of pizza slices. It's on by a young fellow. I don't remember his name and they also make the most incredible garlic knots. Next time you're in town try this really good small local place that is really worth a story. read more

Our favorite pizza shop was closed on Tuesdays, so Yelp pointed us to Primo". Place that we like is unique, because they have Specialty toppings and gluten-free crust (Hillside) We agreed that Primos has a very decent crust, not too thin and it is very tasty and edible. It's not that hard brick at the end of the pizza that gets tossed in the trash. The mix of cheese and sauce was good, but the sauce could have used a bit more reduction-a bit runny. We had a lot of mushrooms and olives on our pizza, and I have no complaints about the amount of toppings. When we opened the box, there was a strong smell of olives, which threw me off. There are two small tables in the main shop, but the main eating booths are closed. My advice is to let the pizza sit for 25 minutes or so to settle in, and not with a beverage of choice Hint: "Coldest beer in town" is just the next door over. read more

I used to go to Primo Pizza a lot in high school. I was in town last week and stopped by for slices. I ordered two slices of cheese. I was extremely disappointed. It was overly greasy, had way too much cheese, and they WAY over re-heated it. I tried to eat my it in my car and had to give up because the cheese was falling all over the place. I ended up not even finishing it. I guess this is place should stay for high schoolers. read more

Went in here today, 4/28/20 at about 2pm. The man cooking food had no mask on and was cooking meals. I'm used to seeing folks in Boston --Whole Foods other food establishments using a mask when cooking during Coronavirus times. Yuck. Please use masks when cooking during the Coronavirus times. No one can explain to me why cooking without a mask during these times will prevent infection when cooking a sub or pizza. We've been going to Primo since they opened way back when, but first time I ordered a quesadilla. It was sooo good! I got the spinach, mushrooms, chicken and mozz. Fresh mushrooms, fresh spinach and bite sized pieces of chicken. You can get either salsa or sour cream on the side. I opted for the latter. First time here! We came with a huge group --about 40 people -- and they worked really hard to serve us quickly and efficiently. I ordered the grilled chicken burrito. It was huge! The cheese was melted perfectly and I really liked the rice inside. The chicken was a bit dry, though. I also thought the sauces inside made it a little salty, but then again, I ordered a burrito from an italian restaurant. Primo's offers a wide selection of pizza types as well as subs, has an extremely sweet and friendly staff and their delivery is usually prompt... If you're into offerings such as 'taco' and 'hawaiian' pizza and don't mind an ill lit and run down interior should you pick up, this place will be a 4 star for you... though I'll posit that you should probably avoid their seafood bits... Either way, well worth your while if you need to pick up quick pizza and you're stuck between Amherst/Northampton... not to detract from Primo's at all, its just that there are more impressive offerings on either side of here... read more

Holy Wow! Best damn cheese steak I've had north of Philadelphia, PA and west of Acton, MA. And, when I think about it in all gustatory seriousness... the steak sandwich I had last night is actually at the very top of a delicious class of its own. I've had Pat's, Oliveri's and Geno's. I've been to Lee's Hoagie House, which, to the derision of Philly locals, was actually my favorite for a long time, factoring in travel time, wait time, and general decent quality. Back here in Massachusetts, I stumbled upon T.J. Londo's in Acton a while back, and I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit that the cheese steak I had there was so good that I premeditated a return to Acton just to have another one, years later. Sooo... here I am in Hadley with an old friend who is telling me that this spot across the street has an "absolutely amazing" steak sub. OK, I'll bite. She wasn't kidding. My amazement was absolute. Primo's takes a rib eye steak, slices it thin, and then grills it. This is not tossed on the grill, all smooshed around with a spatula, shaved steak. This is slices of good quality meat, carefully grilled. They toast the bun and get the American cheese all melty. They add mushrooms, onions, peppers and then lay that beautiful, kind of smokey, kind of charred on the edge, still pink in the middle steak right in there. I was going to have hot peppers on it too. My friend says to the guy, "No! He doesn't want peppers." She looks at me and says, "Try it without. You WANT to TASTE this." I had him give me a little cup on the side. After a little while the fellow brings the sandwiches to the table. Like I said, "Holy Wow." And my friend was right. Order this sandwich. Don't put ANYTHING on it. No salt, no pepper, no ketchup, no hots. None of that stuff that you have to put on every Philly cheese steak everywhere. You want to taste the pure deliciousness in each bite of this sandwich. I'll echo the sentiments of the previous reviewer: the people behind the counter here are very, very nice. As for the "decor?" Uhm, no, it's not L'Espalier. But with a sandwich this good, as long as the roof doesn't leak (it doesn't) and the table is clean (it is - although, yeah, it does wobble) I have no problems. Again. My go-to place for takeout salads. Salads are big, salads come with garlic knots, and a hot pepper. Salads probably aren't that good for you, but they're tasty. Nothing here is organic, and there's no pretense to cater to vegans or people with food allergies. Know what you're in for here: it's a local Greek pizza place, and you probably wouldn't go in unless someone told you about it. But it's good. It's not impressive inside, so maybe take your food home, unless your home is also not impressive. But try Primo's out if you want a calzone, or, of course, a big ol' salad. read more

I love this place! The best garlic knots in town or dare I say in New England!!! Must try! Love the salads! Big size and crisp lettuce w/ delicious garnish...and you guessed it comes with 4 "heaven sent" garlic knots. My favorite pizza is the chicken bacon ranch because it's packed with flavor. Today was a bummer. Sent my boyfriend to get pizza and gas. Some how he confused which pizza place to go to. He went to Primo near the gas station and got someone else's pizza by the same name for the same price as what we ordered from Athena's although we ordered totally different things. Then I was stuck with two large pizzas that I never ordered. I felt we needed to go get our other order A) because we ordered it B) it was what we really wanted. $80 in take out. Two pizzas we won't eat from Primo. Called Primo, wouldn't take back pizza (even though they could have sold by the slice) & wouldn't give us any compensation. Didn't try to even care, sorry no management here to make the call the person on the phone said. We'll Zach I know Fonzie is there mostly 24/7. Not impressed. read more

Years ago, I lived next door to this place and ate there, well, constantly. They have a very wide variety on their menu, but my favorites include the garlic knots (I am actually salivating right now thinking about them), the chicken caesar salad, and their fantastic menu of calzones. In addition to a really well-crafted set of calzone standards, customizing is also available, which comes in handy with that picky friend who doesn't like olives or whatever. Their portions are simply massive-- on calzone or salad usually lasted two meals for me-- and their prep time is a standard 20 minutes or less from a phone-in order. Staff is extremely friendly and has an amazing ability to remember you. Last year I stopped in on a visit to the area after having been away for 3 years, and they remembered me, my usual order, and asked me where I'd been. Can't beat that. read more

Stopped at Primo's after a local event. The staff was friendly, but the place is very dirty and grungy. The light fixtures over the food prep area right out front are full of bugs and very dirty, walls and floors are gross, bathroom was actually creepy and the hallway full of trash. The owners need to take a break and look at this place with fresh eyes and see what a customer sees. A visit from the health department might help too. The food took a long time and after having the chance to look around, I lost my appetite. We won't return. read more

I've been going to Primo Pizzeria off and on for more than 10 years, since I went to college at UMass. They don't do anything out of the ordinary that you can put your finger on, but they just make some of the best grinders/subs/heros/whatever you call them in your part of the country that I've ever had. I got a slice of the fried chicken ranch pizza and the steak & ranch pizza today. The pizza is very very thin, which would be fine if that were reflected in the price. I paid $3.20 per slice, far too much for a slice that was both too narrow and too thin. I was hoping the taste would make up for the portion size, and it did not. The ranch is sickening and the meat overcooked & dry. The crust was overcooked & hard to chew. Pretty good. Pizza has too much sauce on it, which ruins it for me, but the flavor and crust are good. Thanks to the guy that recommended the Ribeye grinder, he was right - it is excellent.
