Basic, no frills pizza spot with a variety of slices. The cheese slices came out pipping hot but were slightly devoid of flavor. They had a nice chewy crust with just the right amount of sauce. A little bit of Parmesan and pepper flakes improved things. I'd try some of the other slices next time and maybe the spinach pie. read more

HANDS DOWN, the best pizza I've had in forever!!!!! We got a chicken broccoli BBQ slice. OMG. It was sooooooo delish. The crust was amazing. Topping were fresh. Today was my first time coming back to Pinocchio's in about ten years. I was first introduced to this pizza place during high school while I was in summer camp and we used to come here on weekends and grab a slice. Everything is exactly as I remembered -- huge variety of slices, enormous pieces of pizza, and fantastic pesto tortellini pizza!! The dough is nice and chewy. The pizza is a bit light on the sauce but they lay on that cheese! The women working today were lovely and friendly. I will also add, I had to drive across state today for an appointment in Easthampton and made a point of stopping for pizza before leaving, which was the only nice part of my trip. We were in Northampton quite late into the night getting drinks and we noticed that most eateries were shut by 9-10PM. We thought we were going to have to get McDonald's or Wendy's and thankfully we found this pizzeria. Very friendly staff. Good amount of seating. Lots of options to choose from in terms of pizza by the slice. You have to be buzzed into the bathrooms which is a good system to have. The pizza tasted really good. There are several pizza places to get a quick slice of good pizza in Northampton. I usually go to Mimmo's which has make your own large "two plate" pizza slices. Pinocchio's, on the other hand, has several different types of pizza already made and there is no argument about the size of slice you get or the types of toppings you have to choose from. Let's face it, sometimes it's better to have 2 decent slices of pizza so that you can have different toppings on It rather than one enormous slice with the same toppings. If you go with somebody else who gets a different slice, sometimes you can share, results may vary depending on the person you go with. :-) walk up to the counter pick your pizza and sit at a small counter that runs along the wall. I will be the first to admit that I don't have a strong feeling about crust or that type of sauce, but I like a good cheese and I was happy here. To be honest, I think Domino's has a really good buttery garlic crust that nobody else has, so I am perhaps somebody that should be disregarded as far as crust goes :-) read more

One of the main things about a Pizza by the Slice place is that you have to be open late! Especially if you're in the heart of Northampton's Downtown. It's almost criminal. Pizza is about cheese, sauce, and bread. The one thing Pinocchio's excels in is its cheese. The crust when I had it was a bit burnt, and the sauce didn't really have a presence. The other specialty slices are good, but only because I think to myself: "How does someone mess up Chicken, BACON, and RANCH?". Same can be said about others. Now, they do get a bit feisty with some of their other specialty slices, and I appreciate it. It's a nice refreshing taste. But the one thing that really disappoints me is that Pinocchio's is only open until midnight on Friday and Saturday. Wandered into this place almost by accident (I am a vegan). They made me the best veggie sub I could imagine. Broccoli, red and green sweet peppers, mushrooms, red onion, carrots, all sauteed to order, slid into a large sub bread and toasted in the pizza oven. This is definitely the best pizza place to go to if you're in the northampton area. There is a variety of pizza flavors, and the price is reasonable. My favorite slice is the tortellini. It fills my carb cravings, and the crust is so fluffy. When my boyfriend ordered the classic hawaiin pizza, it was very average, however. The crust was a lot thinner and you couldn't really taste much on top. The pizzeria had some interesting decorations, which is entertaining to look into when you're there too! I wish this place stayed open a little later though, so I could go after some bar hopping. read more

This is a "Totally low key" pizza slice place. ...There are 3 good places for slices in NoHo and this one is number 2 for me. Number 2 is a good rank though and all 3 compare super well outside the North East. Anyway, you will find a good variety of pies by the slice here. I have never had a bad one. Unsurprisingly the ones very late at night always seem to taste the best though ...and as you can judge from that statement Pinocchio's is a great place to hit after or before (as is the case tonight) hitting the bars of NoHo. I have been eating Pinocchio's pizza for over 25 years. Back in the day, what they were doing in terms of fresh toppings and creative combinations was pretty cutting edge for a take-out by-the-slice joint... and now, even though there are plenty of other places with similar "gourmet slice" offerings, Pinocchio's remains a standout. Their massive slice of Spinach Pie (for about $4, which is a STEAL for something this delicious and filling), has long been one of my favorite on-the-go indulgences. Loads of gorgeous spinach, onions, thick slices of meaty mushrooms, feta (and other cheeses?) topped with a second, much thinner crust that helps hold the whole thing together. Pure. Heaven. And I remember when the man behind the counter was just a young teenager! On a Main Street where business come and go, I really appreciate the familiar faces of our long-time memory anchors. Inexpensive pizza in a cramped place... that is absolutely amazing. I have never seen a place with preprepared pizzas like Mexican (including black bean base and avocado), broccoli & mushroom on a pesto base, and something best called a Mediterranean pizza (artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, kalamata olives, and a whole lot more). I was shocked by the vegetarian selection and there options for meat eaters too. Get a few slices to go and eat them while you walk around the cute downtown of Northampton. The cheese is flavorful, and there is a totally unique and massive array of topping combinations (already made for you, but I'm sure you could request your own mix). You're a regular stop in my shopping routine - just when I'm running out of steam from pouring over everything in Broadside, Faces, and cedar chest, your slices give me strength to spend the next hour cd shopping in Turn It Up. Seriously, the best Pizza in Northampton. I love to stop in and grab a slice on my way now and then. I've been coming here for years, and the food never disappoints. Typically a slice place. You can get take out, tho and bring home a whole fresh pie. They have a LONG counter with slice options up, usually kept pretty fresh, you can tell they have years in this game, and have many options. A LARGE number of Vegetarian pies. They recently added small 10" Gluten Free personal pizzas. They also generally have Calzones too, I've not had one, but that's probably soon to change. They've changed up the soda and drinks. These used to be behind the counter, but they have a fridge now with lots of unique choices in it. All the sugar mexican sodas. (Mmmm, Mexicoke) and energy drinks. They also have Jarritos soda's in many flavors (Including Tamarind.) They used to be cash only, but this has now changed! They take plastic now. Seating is VERY limited. Lunchtimes can be busy. They're open late-ish, too (about 11pm) most nights, so good to grab a slice on the way home from a show. read more

The crust was almost crisp enough, just a few millimeters too thick, the sauce just barely too sweet. But I was homesick that night and it hit the spot. Awesome place to come for a slice of pizza. They have a wide array from the basics like cheese and pepperoni, artichokes & veggies, hamburger, to my favorite chicken tortellini. Has a bbq sauce with generous pieces of chicken and tortellini on it and is seriously so yummy. They also have calzones and salads but I usually just come in for the pizza. They are reasonably priced at $3.50 (for the specialty). They are also open late night, so its very convenient if you are roaming around downtown after the bars..
