This review is strictly based on the combination pizza my family and friends picked up, we did not dine in but my goodness!!! What delicious pizza!!! I now understand why people rant and rave about it!! The friends we were with drive 20 minutes for this pizza, there are other pizza places nearby but they don't mind going out of their way for it. As a native Floridian, I only recently have come to understand that Springfield and it's neighboring cities have their own pizza style. It's unique as the crust is crispy, but not NY style thin. This place is located directly on the main road and not too far from Mercy Medical Center. There is some parking on the street, but, your best option is probably to park in the rear as they have a good amount of vehicle spaces to park in back behind the establishment. The staff is nice and friendly and does a good job. We got a Pizza to go and it was very tasty and good quality ingredients. We will definitely be back for that. This is NOT a fancy place, just a place for a quick bite to eat indoors or a to go order. But, they have a good selection to choose from and they were very busy with phone orders as well as walk in customers. Also, there are NO RESTROOMS here for the customers, so, make sure to take care of that prior to arriving here, or, go someplace nearby afterwards, if necessary. They seem to have been in business for quite some time and they have the process down to a pretty good detail on how to get things done correctly. Stop on by Salerno's Pizzeria for a good pizza. Just an FYI, they DO NOT sell the Pizza by the Slice, just in case you only wanted 1 or 2 slices. My family went there for the first time last night. We were looking forward to it based on the other Yelp reviews. We ordered an olive, mushroom, and pepperoni pizza with extra cheese. About 20 minutes later went to pick it up and it was ready. I was the only one in there around 6 o'clock, which to me should be busier. The place is a dump but if the food's good who cares. First off, they got my order wrong. They put peppers, onions, and mushrooms on it. The pizza was just ok though. I admit I was expecting more with all the good reviews. The size of the medium wasn't as large as I hoped. The cheese was good, but that's about it. We'll definitely be just going back to Red Rose. We always go there. The size is bigger, sauce is better, and I've never gotten a wrong order. read more

I've been living in this area for over 12 years and had yet to have Salerno's til today, mind you I had it 2wice, yes, it was that good, I ordered just a personal cheese and went back for a small meatball pizza, same day. I must say fantastic! Great small place, has been there since the 70's! Springfield's a tough city and this gem has endured. Small menu, which is great, cause you know everything is super fresh! I highly recommend this pizza, best crust/pizza combo in the area, by far. I hear other things are good and I'll have to try some different things, can't wait! So I hate hate hate when people say "I'm from ny I know good pizza" however I do have to start my review by saying being from NY this pizza reminds me of home. I've seen so many reviews that start off with that and I try the place and it makes me question where in NY they tried pizza! Which has happened so many times while I've been here in Massachusetts. But anyway this pizza was everything I was hoping for. Being in quarantine i have nothing but time and it has taken me 3 months to find the perfect one full of flavor. When walking in it actually smells like a pizza place. I know that sounds weird but I cant tell you how many pizza places I've tried that if they didn't have a sign I wouldn't know that it was selling food. Walking into Salerno's the first thing I notice is how clean it is. The pizzeria has no booths, but plenty of tables and Sal and his wife Joanne are right at the counter to take your order. The menu is huge , the pizza is right on par with Red Rose and the grinder selection is enormous. One grinder in particular; The Chicken Gabriella is a great mix of geilled chicken , provolone cheese , hot peppers , pickles and tomatoes with mayo, it is excellent. Sals pizza is enourmous for the price and very tasty with a wonderful sauce and crust. Well worth the visit to one of Springfields " big three " the other two being of course Red Rose and Tony's on Boston Road. As funny as it sounds; Springfield Ma. really has the best pizza in the northeast part of the country . read more

If Salerno's was closer to Boston I'm fairly certain I would eat their eggplant (in a sub, on a pizza, in any form) many many many times a week. It's THAT good. The pizza is good (with or without the heavenly eggplant) and the ingredients are always super fresh! FYI - In the colder months they sometimes have soup - homemade soup - and its awesome. If you go in and they have it, get it. If you're in the Springfield area, I'd definitely recommend heading to Salerno's. read more
