Amazing 3 course Dinner Deal Sunday Night!! Yesterday my best friend and I ate at Spoleto and chose the Three course Dinner Deal!! For about 30 dollars we were able to pick an appetizer , entree and a desert from quite a long list of items. We both picked the same things and the meal was not only a bargain but delicious. We both had the brick oven calamari to start. The appetizer portion was perfect for one person, and the calamari was as good as I have ever had. The calamari were fresh and tender without a ton of coating...delicious. For the main entrees we picked the pecan encrusted salmon. Again, the dish was plentiful, the fish perfectly seasoned and the there was an ample arrangement of sides included. I am often disappointed when a restaurant throws a single small potato on a dish...this entree was delicious and well accompanied. Desert was tiramisu...perfectly sized as I don't always eat desert. But when it is homemade and fresh it's the best. All our plates looked good on presentation and the difference between the quality of the ingredients in Spoleto's Dinner Deal compared to a chain restaurant was very apparent. This is a must stop on a Sunday Evening! Service was also very good and we enjoyed a great recommended bottle of wine. Horrible experience. 100 degrees + yesterday and no air conditioning! Employees told us their idiot boss refuses to fix it. We had a reservation and they didn't bother to call us and give us a choice about whether we wanted to come. Food was mediocre and menu uninspired. Total waste of time and $!! read more

This place used to be a class act with great food! I was beyond disappointed last Saturday night as were the three friends I was with. Service was extremely slow for everything...drinks, appetizer, and food. We were there over three hours (party of four) from the time we sat down till we left. Spoleto is good, but not as good as it used to be years ago when it was in it's original location down Main St. It's got a nice atmosphere and good service. The food is fine, nothing exceptional. In summer the outdoor patio is lovely and it's warm and cozy inside in the winter. The arancini starter was divine. But my malfalde pasta seemed to be missing most of the pesto and so was pretty flavorless. Again, it's a nice spot but it's not going to blow your mind. read more

Spoleto has a huuuge outdoor patio that is perfect for summer nights. Most of the patio is covered, so even if it rains like it did for us, we could still sit outside. They even have these really cool fire pit tables! There were a few different veggie options to choose from ranging from pizza to salad to pasta. I loooved the arancini! Whenever I see these on a menu, I order them because they're so good! These ones were stuffed with cheese in the middle. Yum! They had a fun list of mocktails for a very reasonable price. I had the mango spritz which was super yummy! For my main course, I had the eggplant rollatini. It was okay! I love eggplant, but I felt like there was no flavor in the dish, just sauce and cheese. My first time at this restaurant and the service was terrible. We waited 2 hours for our food to come. We never got the appetizers we ordered and the main course was cold. This dinner experience almost ruined which was supposed to be a happy occasion for a family friend who graduated from UMass Amherst. So disappointed !!! I thought I would give Spoleto one more try after a really bad experience in the spring. ( they used to be very good) I went for the pepperoni pizza, thought that would be safe! Well it came out undercooked , cheese was not melted , bread was still raw. The waiter took it back and brought it back 10min later and apologized, saying I'm not sure you want to eat this. The pizza still looked undercooked and looked like someone took there fingers and moved the cheese around to see if it was cooked, so gross!! Very hospitable staff. I give it up the to head chef for bringing out a nice bottle of wine since we're celebrating and for personally greeting us. The lighting inside made it a great spot for dating. The drinks were very good! I did expect the food to be better though. Good service from the waitress. She was great! Attentive and knowledgeable. The bread was also fresh and hot. The ambiance was ruined by the lack of air conditioning inside the restaurant. We chose to eat indoors to get a break from the bugs. Went there for the Paella for two. We ordered that and got a couple of the strawberry sangrias. Very nice and refreshing. While waiting inquired about some bread/butter. $3 for a half loaf, $6 for a full loaf. This feels terrible to be in an Italian restaurant and not get served complimentary bread and butter. The Paella came and it had a good taste, but some of the clams were grainy. Not one to complain about my food, but if this is your Thursday night special we should be beyond grainy clams. Took a great deal of it home, as we were still fighting the heat. We ordered the full loaf of bread but my feeling is, factor the price of bread into the meal! Have enjoyed meals here in the past and drinks always good but the last time we ate there was pretty terrible. Had basic spaghetti with sauce and meatballs. The meatballs were burnt and hard (blackened), spaghetti was quite mushy and sauce was so-so. I really love Spoleto's. Easy, tasty, solid seating options, great drink choices. I've had dinner and drinks on multiple occasions sitting down and then ordered food for pick up on other occasions. Great choices every time. Lots and lots of great food and dessert options, and when the weather is warm, their outdoor seating is perfect. When it's cold, sit on their new deck that has the heated lamps. Delightful year round. Highly recommend their garlic bread. It slams. And their spaghetti with ricotta is bomb. I'm a wee concerned that this restaurant is listed as being on Bridge Street. The Spoleto I went to felt to me like it was on Main Sty, but I digress (seems maybe Main turns into Bride, but isn't Bridge St further North off of King? I'm fairly new to the area so...whatever) First off, We had a waiter in training (Chelsea) who was fantastic. I assume she is a very experienced waitress who is just learning the particulars of Spoletos. She was so accommodating to us (and they were busy). My spouse is life-or-death allergic to the enzymes in sharp cheeses, and Chelsea checked out every sauce, every dish. (You know, its a little complicated as Ricotta and mozzarella are just fine and blah and blah and blah). Then full off, Food is always just plain excellent. Pasta cooked just right, dreamy drinks, drop-dead-delicious gelato and cannoli. So fabulous food and a shout out to Chelsea our server. read more

Used to enjoy this place but had not been in some time. Sat inside with not enough air conditioning so we were hot. Food was ok, not great. Service was very good but the worst part of the experience were the number of flys and ants attacking our table. One fly ended up in my daughter's drink! When we complained we were told it was because they leave the back door open to serve the patio outside. This is not acceptable. You cannot run a quality restaurant and have an insect infestation for the diners to deal with! This was a special dinner to celebrate my birthday and we were very disappointed. We will not return unless it is winter and the door is kept closed but even then, this establishment has shown it does not care about customers' comfort so we may not ever return. Disappointed again. I used to love Spoleto. The food was very good, service was good, great setting. Alas, only the setting is good. I was meeting a friend for drinks and appetizers at the bar. Sat for a LONG time with only three other people at the other end of the bar. No eye contact or recognition from the bartender. None. (I used to tend bar in a restaurant and have managed bars in my sordid past). It was about 12 minutes and some active pursuit on my part to get the bartender's attention. My friend showed up, we had drinks and appetizers, which were 'meh', and on left. I go to restaurants 4-5 times per week for lunch and dinner. This won't be a place I return to. Finally tried the new location after years of living away from Western Mass. The overall atmosphere was much different than before. The service was subpar. Our server was nice enough, but it seemed like it was his first day on the job. He forgot things and we had to flag him down for everything. The redeeming quality - the food was still good. My mother and I got the pre fixe menu and all 3 courses were good. I know good help is hard to find these days, so hopefully they can do more training. Service is great. Food is decent. I object to the 4% surcharge if the bill is paid by credit card. All well and good, it's disclosed, no issue there. My issue arose where my "discount" for paying by cash was gouged because they "don't do coins" so "rounded" but not in the usual way. My "discounted bill" came to $31.34 so I'd expect if they are truly rounding that change from my $50 bill would be $19, right? Nope. $18. They round in their favor turning my 4% discount into a 2% discount. The house wins either way... they take half my discount if I pay by cash and charge me 4% if I pay by credit card. I want to preface before saying anything that I am not usually one to ever leave reviews about a place, good or bad. However, this was one of the most disappointing experiences I have ever had at a restaurant. I made a reservation to celebrate my grad and we waited a whole 45 mins to even order drinks before our waitress came back just to say that health services were shutting off their gas and their kitchen was closing early (by 2 hours) and we had to leave. This all excludes the sticky table, the broken tilted table they took 0 effort to help fix, and the odd orange and white stuff floating around in our water. Our waiter was very nice and unfortunately he had to apologize for multiple issues. While ordering, he confirmed with managers that they could accommodate the alfredo dish gluten free and vegetarian. It took a while to arrive, which we didn't mind as they did get busy. When it did, we noticed immediately that the pasta was not gluten free. He was extremely apologetic and they remade it. The manager also came over and apologized, but it is very dangerous to overlook dietary restrictions. I got the eggplant rollatini, which was ok. I ordered pan seared blackened red snapper last evening their special of the day. We waited 35 to 40 minutes. The fish arrived dry overcooked over spiced and salty. I really used to love this place but hadn't been in years. The outdoor area was lovely--a gem in the city. But, the food was sadly not great, and felt like poor value for the price. A vegetarian pasta dish had maybe two slices of zucchini, 2 tomatoes, and 5 mushrooms. The server was nice but charged two extra (expensive) entrees to the ticket. I recommend this business somewhat. Spoleto has lost its original appeal. To an extent it has been the victim of COVID. We were willing to give it a try on New Year's Eve. Despite the reservation we had to haggle for a booth. I don't want to sit at the bar or adjacent to another couple in the window of a cold restaurant. We opted for fried calamari which is a regular menu item. We also chose a stuffed artichoke that was undercooked but burnt on top. Don't put a special on the menu without trying it out first. I realize that help is hard to find but staff should not be wearing jeans and a hoody. Supply a basic tee. The rigatoni bolognese was good but I had to have the pesto held. Why would pesto be in bolognese? The fra diavolo fish was good. All in all not bad but could have been better for NYE. The bathrooms are another topic with overflowing trash can and no toilet paper. A bathroom is representative of an establishment's food and service. Do a better job. read more

We have enjoyed going to Spoetos for years. I must say that while the food is pretty good and you can't beat the outdoor dining, it has not lived up to it's former glory in the old location. I was there last week and while I enjoyed the food and drinks the restaurant was freezing. Everytime a guest came in I would get a gust of cold air. Being freezing in a restaurant definitely takes away from the experience. They need to figure out how to have a barrier between the door and the diners. read more

It was a crowded night and they offered to sit us downstairs immediately. Of course we said yes. Well, we were the only ones there and I think they forgot about us. We finally put in our drink order and good order. After a very long time our food came. No drinks. He forgot. No bread or rolls offered. Only checked on us once. I stopped in very near their closing time after a long drive home from an event in CT--the bartender was so friendly and accommodating. She was extremely knowledgeable and even asked me my preference of Gin in a Negroni, and she went above and beyond to give me new information on a local Gin, one I had never heard of before. The Negroni was fantastic. My dinner was also good, not the best version of the dish I've ever had, but I have no complaints about it. My wife and I eat out a lot and we have been coming to Spoleto for years and have never had a bad meal. However, I have not been in Northampton since Covid. Everyone seems to understand that Covid has changed so many things so I was concerned about what may have happened with Spoleto. We came in last Sat night and in talking with the owner, we were warned that only two of the wait staff showed up due to illness. We sat down and witnessed two people work the entire place with amazing efficiency and a smile. Our dinner was excellent ...as it always is. I love this place because they have always paid strong attention to detail. Covid has definitely changed some things that are beyond all of our control. Probably the most noticeable change is that a lot of customers have become whiny, impatient and entitled Karens. And this can make a place seem like it is doing worse than it really is.
