Creme brûlée with berries

First class dining experience. Excellent food, delicious speciality drinks and attentive staff make for a great dinner out. Make a reservation to be sure you get the table you are looking for. I like to sit on the bar side at one of the high top tables by the window. Elegant dining room is a great choice when I bring my family.

Pan seared salmon, lobster risotto, crispy French green beans, lemon creme Fraiche - DELICIOUS AMAZING GET THIS
Sara R.

Was visiting from out of state and came here based on a recommendation from a local resident/business owner (shout out to Ruth & Richard at Daniel Stabbins House Bed & Breakfast)- Food 101 did not disappoint. The breadsticks (with a tomato based pesto, a traditional pesto, hummus) were so good! I could eat that every day. For entrees, we both ordered the pan searched salmon- which came paired with lobster risotto, crispy French green beans and lemon creme Fraiche. SO DELICIOUS. The salmon was cooked to perfection. The risotto was rich and complimented the salmon perfectly. The crunch of the green beans was on point. The dish was aesthetically pleasing- but more importantly, it tasted as good as it looked! For dessert, we ordered the heirloom chocolate tort- with espresso syrup and coffee ice cream. They split the portion for us and it was presented beautifully. I was checking out the other dishes that came out to the neighboring tables- didn't look like you could go wrong with any of the choices. I only wish I was visiting longer so I could try more of their menu! The dining room was quiet and very comfortable. We were there on a Sunday evening and it wasn't too busy. The pacing of the courses was timed well. The bar is set aside from the rest of the dining room. Our server was super sweet and attentive. All of the staff was friendly and hospitable. I would definitely come back next time I find myself in the area!

Scallops and filet- both were fabulous.

Wow. I had never been to Johnny's and tried it tonight with three others. First of all, our server,…read more"Karen 2" (on the bill) was fabulous! I swear the woman could read our minds, anticipating our questions. Now to the food. We started with fried brussel sprouts. Huge portion. Flavorful, not overcooked, just the right amount of crispness...and those bacon pieces!? Yum. I had the chicken wings and a beet salad. I'm a Buffalo, NY native folks, and thus have had my share of great chicken wings. Johnny's wings were on par with anything I've had in the Queen City. My only suggestion to make it real Buffalo style is thick blue cheese dip. The other meals served were amazing - two pasta dishes and the fried chicken. All tasty. Everyone loved their dishes. The prices were very fair for the quality and quantity of food brought to the table. I'm surprised at the 4.1 Yelper average. The meal and service we had tonight was excellent.

We ordered the calamari for an appetizer and it was very good as usual. Calamari (fried) is served atop an aioli that's heavy with garlic. For my main course I opted for the branzino with seafood risotto. I would not recommend this dish. The branzino came out slightly warmer than room temperature with a big dollop of room temp butter on it. I wonder if the intention was to put the plate under the salamander to warm / crisp things up prior to service but was forgotten. So I scraped the butter off the fish and onto the side plate it went. I was hoping for crispy skin but alas it was not to be found on this dish. Off came the skin and onto the side plate as well. The fish did have a good flavor to it. The seafood risotto was swimming in butter and was not edible. There were several mussels (in the shell) in the risotto, as well as small bay scallops, and several shrimp. The scallops and shrimp were incredibly overcooked and the mussels so gritty that they were inedible. This place used to be my favorite restaurant. I think that this is the last time that I'll dine at Johnny's in Amherst.

I'm being generous with three stars because I want them to succeed in this spot where Ibiza and 7…read moreStrong have failed. Our experience here recently, was however, not up to snuff. The three of us were seated an uncomfortably narrow small table. The restaurant means to sit 4 at these tables but they are really meant for two people. The folly of this size table was evident as soon as the food arrived. Homestead's menu is heavy on small plates and we ordered one starter, 5 small plates and one pasta between the three of us. The larger plate menu (meant for 2) has only four items..a chicken, a fish, a meat, a vegetarian. They were out of the fish. All of the dishes basically arrived simultaneously. There was no room on the small table for all of the dishes. Kind of ridiculous to try and maneuver. So we hurriedly finished off a couple of dishes so the server could make room for the dishes in her hand. I can't imagine if we had four people at the table and they tried to fit 8 dishes on the table. They really need to time the arrival of the dishes so that we can enjoy and leisurely eat..not rush through them to make room for the more on the server and chef's schedule. The food? The ratatouille was delicious as was the Caesar salad. The arugula salad was fresh and satisfying. The salmon crudo was small, expensive and kinda weird. The butternut cavatelli with lemon and chicken was a wee tiny portion for $17 that was gloppy and without the advertised crispy skin. The $15 octopus was one tentacle in a spicy mush mosh. The charred shisito pepper starter was undercooked and came without the advertised sea salt. No bread offered. The wine list was really nice and fairly priced. The house wine was tasty at $5.50 a glass. All in all, disappointing but promising. The small plate emphasis will cause bigger than anticipated tabs. They really have to think about the size, comfort, and utility of those narrow rustic tables. And they need to stagger the arrival of the food so that customers are not rushed through their meals with all the dishes crammed on the table at once. Some nice traditional plates of food for one person (not everyone loves the sharing schtick) priced from $18-26 would be great. Homestead has promise but right now the attitude, and narrative outweigh the product and experience.

I can't remember which pasta I had but don't let the green color fool you. The rigatoni and focaccia with drinks were also excellent.

The atmosphere was vibrant and friendly. A bit loud, but encouraging to see how bustling the restaurant was. I enjoyed my grilled caesar salad. I added chicken so it was a bit pricey for a lunch salad, but it was tasty and I always appreciate when caesar salads include anchovies, as they're meant to! My husband liked his rigatoni bolognese. Service was excellent. Our server was very apologetic about how long things were taking, but with a full house it honestly just felt like a good pace without any excessive waiting. It was a great experience overall.

I was caught off guard when they asked how I wanted my salmon cooked, but honestly I'm glad they did because it was perfect. So moist and flaky. This was a dish with many elements and I thought they all went great together. The meal was Cajun inspired so some elements had a bit of a kick, but the slaw was cooling and the roasted vegetables didn't have much seasoning so they were a break in the heat. I would've liked the Brussels sprouts to be a little more crispy but they were sweet and cooked properly and truly a highlight of the meal. The rest of my family got pizzas. The Maui Wowie was beloved. The Tuscan chicken pesto was also pretty good. My mother-in-law ordered the Bianco but didn't really like it, she thought the second half wasn't even worth saving. There was not nearly enough balsamic and too much arugula. The arugula was very good with the fried goat cheese and whipped ricotta appetizers, both were divine. The margaritas were good but the "salted" rims had almost no salt. The service was adequate, the water was nice and cold, but the interior was loud people with loud music and those in our party with hearing issues were left out of the conversation.
