8/23/24: Absolutely obsessed with the roasted peppers and corn ribs. The corn ribs were 10x better than the bar in Tarrytown, NY that introduced me to the idea of corn ribs which was a welcome treat because I LOVE this trend/idea. This time I got the braised pork and polenta and this one is on me because I don't usually like braised pork or polenta too much but it sounded interesting and I wanted to try it. It wasn't my favorite but that's more about my taste than anything. The peach crumble was absolutely spectacular and I'm glad they learned from last time and made the ice cream sweeter (the creme fraiche on the dessert I got last time was not sweet whatsoever). Can't wait to see what's on the menu next time I'm here! 7/3/25: God, I love it here! This year, I got two mocktails, the ruby Tuesday and orange lovely, because I couldn't choose and loved both of them! Then I started with the pickled carrots which were absolutely delectable. The turmeric honey and chili oil sauce was absolutely PERFECT. If I wasn't worried about social standing I would've licked that plate clean. I never thought I would enjoy eating carrots so much. Then came my queso mac and cheese that I took myself I would only eat half of so I could take the rest home and not hurt my stomach but I couldn't help myself. This was one of the best mac and cheese I've ever ordered at a restaurant. It was made with cotijia, had tortilla chips and cilantro in it with onion on top to pull it all together. Chef's kiss. I had to get dessert since I only come once a year and this orange almond cake was SOOOO GOOOD ughhhh I wish this restaurant was in Westchester I'm an avid nuts-in-dessert hater and this cake had me eating spoonfuls of almonds. I think they converted me. It was so moist and sticky and beautiful and the almonds were perfectly toasted and crispy without being like chewing on rocks. I am obsessed. 10/11/25: Back at my favorite restaurant! Got to have some new variations of the great things I loved in the past: fire roasted peppers (this time with ricotta!) and pickled carrots with turnips. I also got the orange lovely again because it was favorite of the two I got last time. So yummy still! I also got the general tso cauliflower and it was so good but also spicy!! Now this butter braised tomato soup was absolutely fantastic. Best tomato soup I've ever had. And the plum galette was perfection. I really have no notes because as I keep saying, everything I ever get from here is absolutely fantastic. read more

We first discovered Calico last year while traveling for a dance intensive at CLI. My daughter and I loved it sooo much we knew to make a point of coming back to this gem this year as well. The food is great and the service is also great. For anyone visiting the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and slaw are a MUST! My daughter loves the Tofu bowl as well and the carrots dressed with turmeric and chili oil are simply divine. I hope to have the chance to visit this beauty again. read more

Where to start... So many good things about this restaurant. Drinks and cocktails were well made and nicely strong. There was a good wine selection. Appetizers were plentiful, with lots of vegetarian choices. Portions were large and there was a lot of cultural diversity. I had the curry with peanut sauce and tofu. Use to love the fried chicken, something has changed as the breading is not as light and binding as it used to be and the coleslaw inedible as there is far too much vinegar. The other dishes here skew too upscale--refined flavors and high prices don't click with the community's down-to-earth tastes. Not a great fit. Fantastic experience. We dined with a group of 7 and every dish was excellent and tasty. We had many appetizers and tried just about every entree including steelhead trout, Flatiron steak, buttermilk fried chicken, and yellow Thai curry. Dessert? OMG to the chocolate torte, also had almond orange cake and rhubarb cobbler (too tart for me, could've used strawberries), but everything was delicious and the service was great. Everyone says their fried chicken is fantastic, and it is. The house salad was also hearty and delicious. Sat in the bar area and had a lovely server. Cocktails were spot on, wine list was good, the soup was beautiful and delicious. My only complaint is the brief menu. I went to Calico for the first time and would recommend! Service was prompt, attentive and friendly. Excellent cocktails. We had a Southside and a Warewolves of London from their specialty menu. The menu is small and eclectic, calico?, which, to me, is a sign that the kitchen can focus on doing things well - and they did. The Thai curry was well balanced in flavor and texture. The lamb dish was the same. The chocolate cake was like a slice of truffle with toffee and nuts. So delicious! Dining room was busy, but not loud. Very nice all around. read more

What a delightful surprise! On July 3rd we were supposed to go with friends to a nearby place for dinner. We got there only to find out that they were closed until the following week. After doing some quick searches we came across Calico and took the 20 minute drive. We were seated faster than the staff thought, nice. The drinks were lovely, especially the Paloma. I was thinking how good can a Paloma be? This was otherworldly great. An appetizer for the table of smashed potatoes with an Ancho Chili drizzle was epically wonderful. The entrees were so marvelous. I had the Steelhead Trout, two had the Fried Chicken with their amazingly wonderful Slaw. Light Vinegar sauce that danced on your tongue. Another had the Thai Curry with Fried Tofu which, while not normally my thing, was outstanding. Lively crowd, fun space, wonderful staff, and stellar food made for a truly lovely night out. Went here for the first time last night after drooling over the menu online. I'm a fussy b*tch so scroll on if you are like my husband and think my expectations are too high. I got the Mapo Doufu & he got the Salmon & Lentils. I thought the first was too salty so we swapped dishes. The salmon was skin on so I don't think it needed the tarragon oil. My husband and I just moved to Easthampton, and wanted to try out a local restaurant. We chose Calico. What a delight. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and seated right away. Our waitress, Jill, was warm and attentive. The ambiance was relaxed, fun, welcoming. I ordered the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and Cole slaw. The chicken was fresh, crispy and delicious, Cole slaw the best I've ever tasted. My husband's Morrocan lamb was perfectly spiced. Our desserts, panne cotta and chocolate torte, were sweet, light, the perfect end to a great meal. We give this restaurant 5 stars, and we will be going back! read more

The food is delicious, the atmosphere is lovely and the service is great. But I hesitate to return because the music is too loud. It is beyond background music. Since the restaurant is a lively space we found that the 4 of us were needing to talk really loud in order to be heard. When I asked them to please turn down the music they said yes. But none of us noticed any difference afterwards. It's a shame because we'd eat here a lot if only the music were a bit softer. read more

'The bird' is seasoned to perfection, and the slaw it is paired with is fresh, crunchy and delightful. The curry dish is very good. Paired with amazing veggies to serve a flavorful VEGAN dish. Amazing restaurant! It has a small and eclectic menu and everything on it that I've tried is incredible. I can't get away from the fried chicken though as it is a perfect plate every time. I went off script tonight and tried the short ribs which was spectacular, tender and delicious with an unusual flavor profile. Hey kids! It's time for another episode of the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly! Well, kind of. You see the 5 stars up there, can't be that bad... I think we're calling this the Great, the Good, and the slightly less than perfect but only because Mike is a picky jerk about certain things. Let's start with the GREAT. The food is awesome. The fried chicken has carried over from Coco's, and it's every bit as good as it ever was. The pork belly was out of this world. The mocktails were excellent. Violet Beauregard and the Ginger soda were both phenomenal. Ambiance is perfect. Be aware, the upstairs is not yet open (as of Oct 2022) so they're currently seating in the cellar bar. Which is fine. It's cool, and hip, with candles, lots of wood and stone. The music is chill and well curated. I've always loved it down there, and it's still great. OK, the Good: They're working through the bureaucracy of getting their liquor license, so that will improve the drinks even more. I expect the upstairs will be opening reasonably soon as well. The service was good, everyone was friendly, and they took good care of us. The chocolate torte was deep and rich. And finally: the "slightly less than perfect but only because Mike is a picky jerk about certain things". The patatas bravas are *nearly* perfect. Like, if you've eaten them in Spain (and I have, SO many times. I gained 10 lbs in Madrid,) this will take you back. They're beautifully crunchy, hot, the aioli is perfect.... But the bravas sauce just isn't very spicy. Like, it had great flavor, but it just needed like 10% more hot. Seriously, though. That's just me being a snooty jerk. If you've never eaten patatas bravas, you'll think you're eating the food of the gods and you won't know how spicy it should be. These are likely the best bravas anywhere in America. All in all, I give Calico a SOLID 5 Stars. Keep up the great work everyone! read more

We hadn't been here since it was Coco's, a place known for its superb fried chicken. We ordered pozole for an appetizer - excellent. Unfortunately the chicken was just ok. Gravy was excellent but the breading was heavy and dry and the meat slightly overcooked. I've had better at Chick Fil A, and that's not a dig - that place has good chicken. But at $26 a plate, I was expecting more, especially after Coco's set the bar so high. My other gripe was with the cocktails. I ordered a gin martini and it came in a sherry glass - the smallest martini I've ever had. I don't mind paying $12 for a cocktail, but please don't scrimp on the volume! My wife ordered one of the signature cocktails and it was good, but also served in a tiny cocktail glass. If we go again we'll try something other than the chicken. read more

It's a shame when the front of house lets down the kitchen. I called ahead a little after 5pm. They assured me they could take a walk in for 2. When we arrived they only gave us the bar option. They were very rude when seating us and specific about our seats even tho the restaurant was empty. The food was amazing! We didn't even mind that they didn't have any alcohol. They service was so disappointing. The hostess moved us down the bar as it got busier and stated "we would be taken care of" we didn't even mind moving, but she was extremely condescending. As we left we were again reminded by the hostess that she would comp our drinks next time. Basically taking down to us acknowledging how badly she treated us, but didn't care enough to follow thru. We have been getting take our supporting the business for months and we're so disappointed by the staff when we dinned in. What a shame. Safe to say if you are considering this restaurant stick to take out. The food is amazing. read more

I had Dinner with a Friend last evening at Calico. Everything was spectacular from beginning to the grand finale. Starting with the welcoming greeting by the Hostess. I ordered a "not to sweet" traditional Lime Margarita and it was perfectly made. We shared the Charred Asparagus Salad. It was sooo delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed the perfectly seasoned Salmon with Lentils. I'm salivating just remembering the taste sensation. The sauce was out of this world. My friend ordered the Fried Chicken which was juicy, cooked perfectly and served with yummy mashed potatoes and Jalepeno Slaw! I've enjoyed the Chicken a few times and it's always on point. We topped off the evening with the delectable Mexican Chocolate Brownie with Ice Cream. Our Server Gabby very thoughtfully added a Birthday Candle as we were celebrating my Guest's Birthday. Superlative service throughout by Gabby! For first timers the menu may be a bit limited but, the Chef and his culinary team are cooking up Delectable. Limited seating on the main floor. (You may need a reservation) There are 5 or 6 Bar Seats facing the open kitchen. The Cellar has additional table and bar seating and it has a cool vibe.
