This is a busy place, and with good reason. A menu that is not extensive, but offers varied choices. We played it safe with fajitas. I had chicken, the hubs had steak. Tasty on both counts, meat flavorful and not dried out. Basic rice and the beans seemed of a white variety. Salsa was good. Our server, Sarah was conscientious and friendly. When I return, I will definitely branch out on some of the seafood choices, which sounded intriguing, or the chicken in pablano cream sauce! read more

I am not sure how this place has such good reviews. The good: Nice efficient service, and good warm chips served with good (but very mild) salsa. The bad: The food.. The pinto beans were very light in color with zero flavor. In fact I am usually not someone to salt my restaurant food but I needed salt on everything badly. Just very bland and basic. You also only receive three tortillas when you order fajitas. If you want guacamole, a small portion will set you back $8.00. I was very disappointed. Sadly, food was just not good. read more

My girlfriend and I just had the most awesome dining experience here. Service was prompt and attentive. The chips were toasty and the salsa fresh and bright. We had queso with perfectly melted cheese and fresh cut pico. She got fish tacos with fluffy, delicately breaded fish and an absolutely decadent sauce. I had the chile relleno with fluffy warm tortillas, delicious beans and rice, and a scrumptious stuffed pepper. We both had margaritas which were strong but easy to drink. The flan was really good too. I am sad because now I feel like I have to go search for Mexican food on this level in Texas. This place spoiled us. read more

As far as pupus: the shrimp onion rings are great, the onaga ceviche was awesome. Very good chorizo fondue as well. Awesome langostine enchilada, and stuffed chili for entrees. The chips and salsa are made there and are good! The margaritas were decent. The steak fajitas were ok. The steak was a little chewy. They give you only 3 tortillas for the entire fajita meal!!! After moving to Maui from Texas the one thing we were missing was our Tex-Mex.... We have tried other places on the island and this by far was the best and reminded us of home. While it is not true Tex-Mex, it is authentic Mexican food with an interesting and unique menu. Everything we tried was cooked perfect and all the flavors blended together. This was very good food. We were in Maui on vacation and craving some good Mexican food. The restaurant staff was very attentive and kind. They are very knowledgeable about all the food if you have any food requirements or allergies. The atmosphere was fun and relaxing. The interior design was delightful and chairs were fun and comfy. We got fajitas and enchiladas. The shrimp fajitas were amazing !! The sauce was exquisite!! We had a chorizo queso dip that was so delicious and all food came out hot and delicious. Came to Maui on vacation from Phoenix, AZ during Cinco de Mayo and was pleasantly surprised at Roasted Chile's food. I had the shrimp tacos and my wife had the chicken fajitas, this food was better than most you find in "Authentic" Mexican restaurants in Phoenix. Phenomenal! Guacamole was delicious without being overly complicated. Shrimp fajitas were incredibly flavorful. Burritos aren't on the menu but my husband inquired and was beyond satisfied with his steak burrito topped with a very tasty verde sauce. read more

I was so excited to find this place! I've tried other Mexican restaurants on Maui but this one is the best, by far! My husband and I had to have an early dinner and we decided to try this place. I'm glad we weren't discouraged by the fact that there was only one other person in the restaurant, and he was at the bar. I'm sure 3pm on a weekday isn't their peak busy time. The margaritas and chips and salsa are delicious...but I can't say enough about the langostino (lobster) enchiladas...hands down the BEST enchiladas I've ever had. The sauce is amazing, the rice was tasty, and the beans were perfect. The service was top notch as well. Our servers were friendly and attentive. I'm so glad there's finally a wonderful Mexican restaurant we can enjoy every year while on vacation. Can't wait to go back next year! read more

This was our second visit. The first time we split chicken and beef fajitas which was pretty good. We got the chili con queso and it was a good start to the meal. We only got 3 tortillas with the fajitas but that was ok. Then we ordered the flan. What a great way to end the meal. It was silky smooth and not too sweet. Best we've had since we were in Mexico. Today was another experience. I had wanted to get a mix of the enchiladas langostino, picadillo and pollo but I had to pick just one type. I went with the picadillo beef enchiladas. They were only ok for me. The enchilada sauce was nicely spiced but the flavor was too harsh for my tastes. My wife ordered the Pozole a favorite of hers.  Here they present the soup with everything already in it instead of allowing the customer add the toppings as you eat. Here too the soup had a very harsh edge to it. Adding the accompanying sour cream helped tone it down somewhat. My wife ordered some additional sour cream. I was suprised that they charged us $1.50 for the additional 2 tablespoons of sour cream. We had a Mai tai and a Dos equis. The Mai tai had very little rum in it - mostly pineapple juice. We ordered the flan to go and will enjoy that soon. $69 for the meal. We might go back just for the chips and salsa and the flan read more

My husband said the fish tacos were the best he has had, ever. Margarita was tasty. I had pollo enchiladas, which had great flavor but were a little too spicy for me with the red sauce, so just be aware that it's kind of hot. Chips and salsa were fantastic. The menu is pretty authentic Mexican food. Although the portions seemed small they had good taste. Not sure if all entrees are served with rice and beans but the Pechuga rellena was ! Which might be better if they offered a choice on sides. To my opinion would be better with sautéed veggies and refríed beans, The poblano sauce was real tasty. The Pezcadillas are real good, they come with a good portion of guacamole and are an appetizer. read more

Although this place didn't have it on the menu, they graciously made it as a lunch special for him the next day. We had never been to Roasted Chiles so felt obligated to try it. WOW! Are we glad we did. The food was not over powered by any one spice. The flavors of each item were distinct and balanced. What's more, is that the wait staff was attentive and friendly. Warning this is an OMG review. We walked in, great ambiance with the Mexican chairs, Talavera plates on the wall, a table of Mexicanos speaking la language. All tells me there's something authentico about this place. We plow through the chips and salsa and the margarita muy sabrosa Ok, anybody who puts chile en nogada on the menu is stepping up their game, not to mention the mole straight from Puebla. The best!!! Then there was this poblano sauce over the pollo relleno, mama!!!! The topper to all this was Alisun, whose gracious service made us feel like family and royalty at the same time. The only downfall was that the owner wouldn't share recipes, but I understand. It's obvious that she cooks from the heart. By far this is the best food I had during my visit to Maui. As a Mexican American I approved this food, we come from California so we are really picky eaters when it comes to Mexican food. We had tried 2 other Mexican places while on vacation here and they were blah.. We ordered the Cheviche and the Steak Alambres and they both were delicious, even my 5 year old was so happy that we picked this place. The chips and Salsa were just as delicious as the main dishes. The only downside is that we found this little jewel on our last night on Maui, I wish I had discover this place before. I wasn't able to get the servers name but they were both fantastic, the young lady told us she move to Maui from Oregon. Keep up the good work guys. Wow! We just tried this restaurant for the first time and we were very pleased. The ambiance is beautiful and the music was great (good, but not too loud). My husband ordered pozole verde (pork and chicken soup), which normally is heavy with hominy. Our server didn't blink when we ordered the pozole without hominy. It was so fresh and flavorful. My husband said it was the best he's ever had. I ordered the queso fundido con chorizo (melted cheese with chorizo). It was really good - meaty and not too spicy. Perfect. We asked for additional tortillas, and it was "no problem" and "of course", as with everything during lunch. Our server was Allison. She is fantastic. She kept our glasses full and checked in on us often. The food is fresh and delicious. We will definitely be back. Great job! read more

We came back for another meal and realized they had lengua tacos. These tacos came topped with diced white onion, cilantro and sauce. They are perfection! They also have two more salsa options, once of which is a cream base with crushed garlic and serrano chiles. Mad points for authenticity on a island that isn't home to Hispanic culture! read more

Just really not impressed here. Chili rilleno has almost no cheese in it. And what's with the super stingy salsa bowl, it's litterally the size of a thimble. Give me a break. This place is more expensive than all other Mexican places here yet they give you the least flavors and portions. I won't be back again. Amigos right next door is so much better. read more

It was an acceptable place to eat, but don't expect too much, as we did based on the reviews. This restaurant was ok... Not bad, but ok. This is not an authentic mexican cuisine. The plate's description in the menu was a bit wrong. We ordered the fish tacos and the enchiladas de langostina. The fish tacos was bad. They said it was tempura style, but it was more a fish and chip style. The dough was chewy and tasted like old oil. The fish was too cooked and they served it with an american sauce like a Big Mac's style. Weird... The enchiladas were ok. Not wonderful, but ok. They said enchiladas filled with langostina. It's not quite right... It's more like filled with some little langostina pieces and a lot of chopped nordic shrimps. So, don't expect too much... read more

This is definitely one of the best Mexican restaurants on Maui. The location is beautiful inside, and the food is delicious. We had great service here too and met the owners. They put a lot of attention to detail and love into their food and their restaurant. I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for great Mexican food in a lovely atmosphere with friendly service. Update 8/26/17: another fantastic meal with excellent service.
