We were craving a bit of Mexican food and so happy we decided to come to Roasted Chile's. Everything was spot on, the service was great from start to finish and as we made it for the back end of happy hour our waitress quickly put in out order of two house marges and nachos. HH is 3-5. Knew it was going to be a great dining experience when everything about the nachos was great. Copious amounts of runny cheese with beans and sour cream. Drinks were strong and not to sweet. We both ordered the burritos Grande. I had carnitas and my wife had the veggie. They are huge and the carnitas was so good. Moist and not over cooked, full of rice and beans and the best sauce all over it. Veggie burritos was just as good. This place has become a must for my yearly trips to Maui. Just finished having a Wonderful Mexican dinner at Roasted Chilies...My wife and I moved here 10 months ago from LA and we are used to outstanding Mexican food there from all the regions of Mexico. This was our first time here and we have to say what a GREAT restaurant this is. Everything is home made and I knew right away when the chips came out that we found a winner. They even had several salsas to choose from from mild to hot and the creamy garlic salsa was fantastic. Our waiter Stuart was great and very attentive all through the night. I had the street tacos (5 kinds) and my wife had the rolled chicken in a cream sauce ( cant remember the name )...it was all spot on! The margarita mix is their own as well, none of that bottled junk. It was house made and really made the drinks so flavorful...6 stars if we could give it. OMG!!!! You have to check this place out if you love authentic, made from scratch, Mexican food! Ofir and his wife Suki (sp?) have created the most amazing restaurant experience. They are originally from Mexico city and were in search of many different places in the U.S. to open an authentic Mexican food restaurant. When they got to Maui, they circled the island, high and low and couldn't find any really good authentic Mexican food and hence, the dream was born. Everything in the restaurant from dishes, to the tables to the chairs was brought in from Mexico. It's artfully decorated, totally fairly priced and most importantly, the food is off the hook! My friends and I had the happy hour chicken nacho's, chicken taco's, (not happy hour guacomole) and margarita's. For the amount of food and drinks we had we were all suprised when the final bill came and it was only $73.00. We left there stuffed and actually couldn't even finish all the chips and salsa. Ofir (one of the owners) brought out this sauce and told us to give it a try.....holy moly....it was ridiculously good! It's made with a roasted serano pepper and roasted garlic.....It's seriously off the hook. The smokey flavors from the roasted veggies shines through and the heat from the serano is just the right amount. It's so good, in fact, that people ask if they can buy it! So, deliver they shall. Very soon they will be bottling the sauce and allowing people to take that magnificent sauce home with them. Definitely put this place on your list of places to eat while on Maui. Upscale Mexican food - I love it. I miss the upscale Mexican restaurants we had nearby in New York City. I love casual Mexican food, but that's not what a good Mexican restaurant is capable of. Roasted Chiles seems to me to be moving up the benchmark for Maui. We started with margaritas, which were decent but nothing special. They were large and had a good dose of tequila, so no complaints. Chips were fine, but the salsa was pretty lame. We asked for something spicier and got it, with a warning on how to mix the sauces. Good advice, and then I had the nice kick I wanted. Guacamole was good, nice and fresh. And then it arrived? Chicken, with an awesome mole sauce, the best I think I've had since Oaxaca twenty years ago. Excellent mole sauce is in a league of its own, a heavy dark creamy taste that I can't describe well. Apparently it's a family recipe, which I believe every good mole sauce is. That made the meal for me. I'll now never get past whatever on their menu has the mole sauce. The place is simply but nicely decorated. Our service was very attentive and nice to visit with. Not overly friendly and part of our dinner, but helpful with good attitude. They were not very busy at dinner time, and it was clear the lady in charge was counting noses. I'm ashamed that I just found out about Roasted Chiles last week when looking through Yelp. I should've found it a long time ago. Based on the reviews, I needed to try it. Roasted Chiles is Mexico City style Mexican food which is different than the Baja and Sonora styles I get in California and Arizona, and it's just as good. This was fantastic. I met one of the owners when I went in to get take out for an early dinner. The restaurant wasn't busy, so I was able to talk with the owner. He and his wife moved here to start the restaurant, and his wife is the chef. The menu had two items in which I was very interested -- the "mole con pollo" and the "tacos de pescado fritos." I got the mole, and I plan on returning for the fish tacos. The mole was excellent. It was very flavorful and not too spicy. It came with tortillas, lettuce, and tomatoes. I switched out the rice for beans. It also came with the tortilla chips and pico de gallo salsa. The dinner was amazing! I will definitely be returning to try the fish tacos. Most fish tacos I've found on Maui are grilled. After having tacos de pescado in Ensenada, I have loved beer-battered, fried fish tacos with crema and pico de gallo. Awesome job! Two nights in a row. We just couldn't stay away from this supremely fabulous place. Tonight, my husband had chicken fajitas. He swooned with every tender and superbly seasoned bite. I had white fish and shrimp served with rice and the most awe-may-zing creamy Chipotle sauce, which was served on the side at my request. I wanted to lick my plate clean...just hunker over and clean it spotless. Then, when we thought we were done, we were treated to the most spectacular tamale in the world. It was freshly made and filled with cream cheese and kissed with jalapeno. It really put us over the top and as we groaned, rolled out the door like stuffed pigs, our only complaint is that now we still didn't have room for Maui Pie. Super strange restaurant. Menu was very small, very few standard Mexican dishes. Carnitas were good, plentiful serving, but nearly no seasoning. Rice and refried beans were...disappointing. My husband got some bizarre chile relleno variant, stuffed with meat with raisins, with a cream sauce that had cinnamon in it. It was supposed to be garnished with strawberries or pomegranite seeds, and it literally had a sprinkling of raw pine nuts and A MARASCHINO CHERRY. I can't make this up. The cocktails were decent. The service was poor, and the busboy/waiter/host kept either turning people away (despite 2 open tables), or telling people their food would take a long time "because it was made from scratch". I'm not sure if heating up corn tortillas on a griddle or openong a can of refried beans is from scratch, but it was an experience. I'd recommend going someplace else, OH, I almost forgot. Lovin' this place! SO happy they are here! It's really hard to find good Mexican food on the island...until now! I've been for dinner & lunch. Adorable atmosphere, Chey took wonderful care of us & the longastino enchiladas and Caldo de Pescado were BOMB! There are a few minor details to get ironed out but I have no doubt that they will pull it all together & this place will be booming with tremendous success! Can't wait to go back! What a nice surprise. We had stayed away from Mex food after several friends warned us against trying it on the Islands. Our fellow Yelpers steered us here when looking for a vegetarian friendly lunch spot. Thanks Yelpers. We enjoyed our meal, the staff was great and the restaurant was decorated well and it was nicely cooled. A couple notes, the nachos list American cheese on there. Actually, it was just one type of cheese used and it was more like a thick nacho cheese sauce. The second is the beans they use are creamy white beans, which were a delicious alternative to the usual gluey refried beans. We had the yummy nachos, a large burrito that comes with rice, beans, onion, peppers and cheese and we added additional veggies and mi esposo had the chicken quesadilla. It was all good. I'm on the fence about this place and I'll explain why. First off I understand that with Covid-19 everything that used to be the norm has now gone out the window, for example the amount of folks at a restaurant. So we arrive, I'm with a party of 7, so I know the wait time will be long. We call ahead of time and are told there is not wait time. We arrive and promptly go to put our name on the list and are given a 5-10 min wait time. This is where everything g starts going downhill. The individual we spoke to never wrote our name down so our wait time was way longer and almost 45min. We sit down and are offered chips and salsa. The chips were cold and stale, the salsa was old. They come to get our drink orders and most of their items they were out, we kept having to change our beverage choice. The food was another nightmare. The rice was old and you could feel/taste the staleness. One of our enchilada plates had a small rock that was bitten. The customer service all together wasn't great. I'd recommend double checking everything twice be fire settling for this place or at this place. read more

I went to roasted chiles the 14 and the 17 of December, the prices were 110% more for the house margarita and 50% more for the beer, the food had an increased of 30% , I don't understand the huge difference, do they have 2 different menus?, which is not acceptable, food is acceptable, but what I don't like is the prices, the first day was fantastic and the prices were really reasonable than the second time and much more expensive . read more

Disclaimer, more of a review on the patrons of the restaurant. I only had chips and salsa but they were top notch. Stopped in early to get tables for our group of 14 with a bunch of vegetarians in the group. Their menu had a couple vegetarian options but we worried it might not be enough options for the group. Unfortunately, The other half of our group already stopped somewhere else while we were waiting. We were about to leave when the cook or head of staff or owner came and went over the menu and listed a whole bevy of vegetarians options that weren't explicitly on the menu that she could custom make for anyone. Everything sounded so good and she listed about 10 different things she could do for us. I was so sad that the other half of the group had already gotten a table somewhere else. We plan on coming back later next week. If the rest of their food is half as good as their salsa and their service, it would still be 5 stars. read more

Absolutely phenomenal! Amazing service from the get-go- bartender greeted us, server was very sweet as well. The ambiance and decor felt just like being on vacation kiteboarding in La Ventana, Mexico. I got the chicken mole, meat was cooked perfectly and sauce was delicious. Uh, no. The food here was not good. Being from LA, I am sure that I am spoiled by having great Mexican food, and this wasn't even close to authentic. First, we ordered pineapple juice. We watched as our waitress walked over to the bar and pulled out a CAN OF DOLE. Are you kidding? We are on Maui and you offer us a glass of Dole? WTF. At least keep the illusion up and poor the Dole in a pitcher in the back. Also, the food was tasteless. I had the chicken enchiladas and they were bland. I would not recommend. read more
