I was near this location and decided to give it a try. Parking was a hassle--only paid street parking available. When I entered, the restaurant was empty. No one was taking orders, and I had to wait for someone to come to the register. I ordered the honey butter chicken biscuit, and it took about five minutes to arrive. The food was fresh and hot, but I'm not sure I'll visit again because of the parking and the lack of customer service.

My uncle recently passed this recommendation on to me for my stay in D.C. and I had to go try it! When I say this has got to be top 3 best chicken sandwich spots I've ever tried :) Service was smooth and food was out in less than 15 minutes. The one we visited was pretty small and had very little seating but that's okay, we ate here for dinner and enjoyed the rest of the night! Sorry Chick fil a, lol

Serving perfectly crisp and juicy chicken, Roaming Rooster is worth trying at least once. I've eaten at a few locations and recently ate at this one after seeing a production nearby. Though I dined around 10p the customer service was still efficient and friendly. If you're looking for delicious bite on U street I recommend stopping here for either the Honey Butter Chicken Sandwich or the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich (my favorite). Not a lot of seating but big enough for a few couples and small groups.

If you're craving fried chicken sandwich look no further. This place has the best fried chicken sandwich in DC. It's a fast food style of restaurant. Lines can be long sometimes depending on the time of the day. My favorite is the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and fries. It's nicely spiced with lots of flavor. Crispy from the outside and tender from the inside. You will hear the crunch when you get your first bite. Ambiance can be slightly off sometimes. They don't have a cleaning staff cleaning the tables all the time. So sometimes we have to grab some napkins and clean our table. Price is nominal. I am glad they also started breakfast sliders. I have tried sliders a couple of times and I liked it.

I stopped into Roaming Rooster for the first time today and was blown away at how delicious the chicken sandwich was. I got the honey butter (chicken with honey butter and cheese). The chicken was super crispy, and I loved that it was dripping in butter. I also ordered a chocolate shake which was fine, nothing special. The inside of the restaurant wasn't dirty, but could definitely use a paint job and some pictures on the wall. It was sloppy looking. Overall, this place is super expensive since the sandwiches don't come with fries. For a shake and a sandwich it was just under $19. I want to give 3 stars but that sandwich was too good. Go for the sandwich.

We came here for a quick bite before meeting some friends at the 9:30 club. It's a clean, cute quick service spot with reasonable prices. We went with the OG Nashville and honey butter sandwiches to share with a side of fries. One side of fries was more than enough for us and I love that you can choose the heat level for the sandwiches. We did one mild and one medium. I like spicy and my husband likes things a bit milder so the medium was a good combination. It's still spicy though so if you're sensitive to spice, I'd go with mild The sandwiches were perfectly cooked and full of flavor. We really enjoyed our meal and thought the price was extremely fair if not cheap. Definitely would recommend Roaming rooster if you're craving a good fried chicken sandwich!!

I'm always looking for good halal chicken spot, and DC never fails. The food came out fast and hot. Each sandwich is $10, but it's filling. My husband and I were only able to finish half. The other reason for that was it was SPICY. We did pick hot, but we're not expecting such a kick. You can pick from mild all the way to extremely hot. I do consider myself someone who can take the heat, but I would precede with caution. Overall, if you're looking for a halal chicken spot in the DC area, this place is worth a visit! Warning: all the traffic in DC is ridiculous and a lot of the road were closed when we went to just be careful!

I've heard a lot of great things about this place and for me who doesn't really like chicken to give it a try is pretty amazing. Food is super messy so get ready with a bunch of napkins The honey butter had a great taste to it. I don't think the rooster sauce tasted like much. And if you like spicy like me go with extra spicy. I don't think the spicy was hot at all. I love the coleslaw isn't saturated with oil it's very well done and has a fresh flavor to it. A lot of nice outdoors seating in this location as well

I had heard this place has one of the best chicken sandwiches ever and I could be bias since I'm a southerner growing up on Chick-Fil-A since I was like 4-5 years old back in the early 90s. I must admit, this was a d*mn good chicken sandwich! The fries didn't make the picture because I ate them. No explanation needed there. I was shocked at how fast we got our food because the place was packed, but it was quicker than expected. From the pickles to the sauce that the sandwich comes with, I'm more than pleased. The parking for the area is DC parking, since it's off U-Street. It wasn't too too bad though. Will be coming back next time I'm DC.

what changed? I have really enjoyed their fresh and moist chicken sandwiches at an affordable price since Roaming Rooster opened on U St. for the first time, tonite's takeout sandwich was so dry, I spit out pieces wondering why they were inedible. so disappointed. 4 stars review weighted by past positive experiences. mostly want to ask kitchen to fix whatever caused this to happen. read more

So delicious. Line was a bit long, but the Spicy Chicken is so crunchy, and the bun is so soft so it was well worth the wait. I wish the fries were a bit crispier but the sandwich was so good this is still going to be a 5 star review. Can't wait to go back. read more

When I first got the sandwich it was really messy so I only took a few bites. I got the honey butter chicken sandwich with a side of slaw. I was first impressed with the slaw more than the sandwich. It was really good. I like when restaurants pay attention to the slaw and don't neglect it even though it's a side. They actually put thought and work into making a good slaw. I went out on a date that night so didn't get to eat the rest of my sandwich until the next day. I heated it in the oven so it wouldn't be soggy. Luckily all the butter they put on it the day before had marinated so it wasn't as messy. I added the two sauces that was in the bag but have no idea what they were. Added a little slaw and let me tell you, delicious. My only recommendation is go a little easy on the honey butter when making the sandwich. It was drowning so much in it that it made a mess of my clothes when I tried to eat it. Also, the price is kinda hefty. Actually, a lot hefty. Lol. I feel as though Popeyes have a similar great sandwich for half the cost. read more

I saw a post on fb about this place. Folks were ranting and raving about it so I had to try it. I ordered uber eats and by the time the food got to me it was cold. I hate cold fries but the butter chicken sandwich after heating was pretty flavorful. I'll have to try again and not order in. I can see how the food here could be great if it was fresh. read more

Oh, my. OG Nashville Hot Chicken adheres to the philosophy that the baseline is *hot* - then you decide how high to go (medium doesn't skimp). Hand cut fries, and we're set. Love that this is fast food that is FOOD. Not much ambiance at U Street, but the two staff were cranking out lunch orders. read more

Waited 30 mins for tenders and a shake and i was the only person there. They got my order wrong and i was in a rush and didn't have time for them to remake it. The food is inconsistent and watery at times. Only dine as a last option before other fast food that may be more unhealthy. Ambiance is like a cafeteria. read more

This is the fried chicken sandwich you crave when those nasty cravings are kicking in. I have the appetite of a teenage boy, so the sandwich was kinda small, HOWEVER, I am not ready for a heart attack...so it was perfect. The chicken is beautifully golden and crispy from the outside and juicy from the inside. Fries were okay, but then I'm not much of a fries person, so I'm not one to judge. I'll be back to try the rest of the sandwiches! read more

Passed the restaurant on the way to work and my friend mentioned how amazing it was. We went the same day for lunch and it REALLY was good. Definitely not a regular thing, especially considering I got the Honey Butter Chicken Sandwich -- which is legit a fried chicken sandwich with a sizeable drizzle of honey butter AND a slice of cheddar cheese. But it was delicious -- very crispy, while still being meaty, and spicy (you choose your heat level). I got medium spice, which the cashier *perfectly* described as "jalapeño hot" ... I did overhear her mention to another customer that the highest level is "habanero hot," for anyone interested. Also got fries, which were good, but I couldn't finish everything because the sandwich was so huge. read more

I finally got around to grabbing a sandwich here after months of drooling over pics on Instagram. Order/pickup is very safe through an outside window for those concerned about such things. I got the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich (medium) which was insanely delicious. $10/sandwich is well worth it for this beauty. Medium had a nice little kick, will probably go for the hot next time around...and there will be a next time. read more

Medium spicy is still very hot and I regularly eat spicy food. It tasted good nonetheless but I wouldn't eat it on the regular cuz it's extremely heavy. Could only eat half of the sandwich at a time. I had the honey butter. I would prob not choose spicy next time. Guy at the counter was nice. read more

No, I am not 10 years old but yes, I still appreciate a good chicken tender. And WOW these chicken tenders are divine. Perfect breading, perfectly crispy, and perfectly cooked and tender chicken with fantastic flavor. Do not sleep on the honey mustard, it was the perfect complement to the chicken tenders. The Nashville hot chicken sandwich was great as well (and nice that you can pick the heat level). I ate it too fast to take a picture, whoops. Only regret is not trying this place sooner, 10 year old me would have been very pleased. read more

Great sandwiches! Got the BLT with medium spice and it was great with the spicy Mayo. Quality of chicken is good. My only complaint is about their ordering process right now. Obviously they just opened up ( U St) but I went on a Friday around 8 and it was a disaster in terms of who was trying to order and who was picking up. Im sure that'll change when indoors is open. Would come back! read more

Tried this place for the first time yesterday and they have the best fried chicken sandwiches around! Ordered the Nashville hot chicken and the honey butter chicken sandwiches ... both were amazing. The slaw adds an unexpected crisp freshness that could easily be served on it's own as a main dish. I'll definitely be adding Roaming Rooster to my favorites list and am excited to try the other menu items! read more

Easy to order online and ready right when I drove up. Honey butter chicken was delish. I got the mild and it wasn't spicy at all so will go up a level next times. Not greasy at all. Chicken was sooo good. Fries good, too. Slaw is heavy on cilantro with a nice subtle kick. Highly recommend! read more

This chicken is the real deal. I've had the honey butter chicken sandwich, the buffalo chicken sandwich, and the tenders. Everything has been out of this world. The price points are very fair - you're getting a higher quality and quantity than a chick fila sandwich for not much more $ (and supporting a local business). Beware of the spice levels - they are no joke! My only critique would be that the ordering/ pick-up system could be optimized a bit. Online ordering is convenient but even then there is often a long queue of people outside of the shop and it is almost impossible to hear the food runners calling out order numbers. read more

This was one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had...I didn't take a picture because I ate it so quickly. I ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich (medium spice level) with fries. It was so flavorful and incredibly spicy in the best way possible!! I also loved the taste of the honey mustard that I dipped the fries in. I ordered this off of Uber Eats and they don't have an option to type a comment, but this sandwich was so good that I had to come to Yelp to give Roaming Rooster a shoutout. I will definitely be returning and sharing about this restaurant to my friends! read more

Capital Burger actually has more burger options to choose for over Capital Grille and a more slimmed down menu. Still with the name burger in its name, you know where their focus is. I went with the bacon cheeseburger that comes with candied smoke bacon that came at $22 with your chose of sides (fries or various salads). It was cooked to the perfect medium rare and you can tell when a burger is cooked with better ingredients and cooked with a give a damn. It was not thrown together, and the fries were not just sitting under a heating lamp. I actually ordered a to go burger for the spouse. Here is where customer service comes in. I was asked how far I had to travel and the person taking my order said she will separate portions so it will travel better. Thank you. It is that little extra that goes a long way. This time I went with the Capital Burger to go along with some key lime pie to nibble on later. Great service and great food. There are plenty of good burger places but if you are a burger fan then definitely check this place out. Absolutely no disappointment. For a true high end burger experience I have no problem giving this place a solid five stars.

The restaurant is very reverb-y, so I heard lots of talking (though some of it was probably due to the music's being too loud), but the waitstaff didn't compensate, so it was hard to hear their voices.

Dang, Roaming Rooster makes great chicken sandwiches! I got the original sandwich with medium spicy chicken (medium spicy does have a kick to it) for take out. It comes with some yummy spicy coleslaw in the sandwich and two sauces (honey mustard and a spicy mayo) on the side. Food comes out hot and quick and for $10, it's a steal.
