Ribs and Wings Combo, Smokehouse Meat Platter
    Brandon J.

Hungry after church, we decided to stop here for lunch. We came to DC to study at a coffee shop but needed to grab food prior. We searched the InKind app since it had a 20% cash back offer and were pleased to find DCity on it. The menu had great selections and was still simple enough. Just two of the platters allowed us to try all the items on the menu we were most interested in. Ordering was easy and we chose to dine in. The food came out to us in less than 10 minutes. We enjoyed every item we ordered. My wife's favorite were the hush puppies and mine were the wings. The place has a nice bbq restaurant look and feel. The only downside was how loud the music was and the choice of music. We would have appreciated something more family friendly. Otherwise , it was a nice visit and we were overall well pleased.

The ribs and wings combo with spiced fries almost made me fall asleep in the afternoon. I ordered it for lunch: thinking it was going to be a decently tasty and decently portioned. Well, I was wrong. It was super delicious and the portions were huge. I loved the seasoning on the wings and fries! There were hints of sugar and that just made them taste even better! The ribs were also juicy and tender! The only downside was that I was sleepy from 1-5pm

Their BBQ is awesome. Everything I've had here is great. The Meaty Palmer has been on their menu for years and is not to be missed. The location is wonderful, on a corner with some trees and outside seating and well as plenty of indoor seating. The service is good, order, pay and fund a seat. If you've never been here, you need to give it a try.

If you're looking for good quality bbq, this just may be your place. I'm originally from Arkansas and bbq is a staple in our diet, making me extremely picky when it comes to trying new places, so please keep that in mind when reading my review. We came in around 2pm on a Friday and it wasn't busy. My sister, mom and I ordered ribs, brisket, chicken wings, Mac and cheese, greens and baked beans at the counter and took a seat in the balcony area. We loved the decor and took a few photos just because it was so cute! Now let's get into the food. I don't eat pork but my mom loved the ribs! 10/10 Everyone loveeeeeed the wings!! They were perfectly smoked, seasoned and tender. 10/10 The brisket was ehhhh okay. Not enough seasoning for my liking. Maybe a little more salt and pepper would do the trick. 5/10 I could do without trying the beans and greens ever again. I've definitely made better at home. 3/10 I personally didn't care for the bbq sauce. That's what made the beans have an after taste, that was undesired. The ranch, however, was good! I prefer a more vinegar based bbq sauce and this wasn't that. Overall, I would give them another try for the drinks and wings again!

I recently ordered a brisket sandwich for takeout and received my order on-time. The sandwich was on the small side for the price ($21 before fees). The brisket was a little tough but good overall. I liked the pickles and onions, and the BBQ sauce had great flavor (I wish it had come with a second container). Overall, DCity Smokehouse was a solid BBQ spot.

The brisket champ is a reminder that sometimes just a brisket, pickles, and barbecue sauce inside Texas toast is all you need. It's a simple sandwich but it hits the spot. I also got hush puppies, which served as a solid side dish.

We tried this on a rainy Friday night after arriving in DC. Four of us ordered the DC city showstopper Wings, brisket, rib tips and three large sides-Brussel sprouts, potato salad, and fries. It turned out to be a lot of food and with one guy and three ladies it was far more than we needed but a great way to try the menu. Service was pretty fast. It was loud with a sort of small party and DJ so we sat in the heated outdoor space. Not ideal for a calm dinner after a day of traveling but nice folks so we took it all in. The rib tips were good and smoky yet a bit tough. The brisket really tender and tasty. The smoked wings really good. Pretty good bbq dipping sauce. I love sprouts and cook them often. Theirs was a huuuge order and really tasty with a good mayo based dipping sauce. The fries very well seasoned and tasty good. The potato salad was ok but not slap your momma good. I'd like to try other things on our next visit like the half smoke or pulled pork. Over the years I must have driven by here a million times and glad we finally tried it! Not the best bbq joint ever but a reliably good experience at a fair price for sure.

This little gem in the city is soooo delicious and when I mean good it's good. A bit pricey but super delicious . The ambiance is just right for a barbecue joint nothing to upscale but clean. The service is on point they acknowledge you as soon as you walk into the door. I always find a seat at the bar. They have the best daiquiris ever and they get you Litty.. a small is $22 and the large is $33 but to me it's worth it. I always go for the the smoked wings and ribs combo cause I'm a fat girl it comes with 1 side now if you ask me I think it should come with 2 but nonetheless do yourself a favor and order another side to go with your meal because their sides SLAPPPPP!!!!! I definitely recommend the fire brussels sprouts and I also recommend the potato salad now Black people. It is a bit different from ours, but it's good lol

This was probably one of the best food trucks I've ever tried! The food was absolutely delicious, and the customer service was great -- especially when I asked for extra sauce (which they kindly provided). It was a bit pricey at $27, and I did notice about a $4 upcharge compared to their restaurant menu, but I understand that may be due to the added costs of operating a food truck. That said, the quality made it worth it. The fried Brussels with the sauce were a standout, and both the chicken and ribs were packed with flavor. If I had more time, I honestly would've gone back for a second order!

Its BBQ made with love. Come with friends and share the love. We were so hyped to come here. First, the location is great, its within the historic neighborhood of U Street, it means something to have a black-owned business here and STAY here. has been other locations but when you think about food history, and when you think about how people show up for their community, this is what you want out of the DC food experience. We came so stumped with what to eat, the menu is very refined to the best you would expect out of classic BBQ joints, no frills, no salad. I love how BBQ menus are so honest and candid with what they want to offer, its such a good indicator that they are confident in what goes on in the smokers and the quality of the food they're producing. We had been anticipating coming to this place since we haven't been disappointed by DC BBQ so as a group of 5 we ordered the DC City Showstopper with Coleslaw, Hushpuppies, Smoky Brisket Chili (+Fried Brussel Sprouts and Spiced Fries) and little did we know the owner himself took our order. He seemed so happy that we ordered something to get a real taste and feel of the place he's been creating. He had such positive notes on our order and made sure that it was personally delivered by him with all the condiments to our hearts content. He let us know that the BBQ sauce is made in house (which you would be surprised and disappointed how many BBQ spots do not do that nowadays) which was vibrant, sweet, smokey, and tangy! Perfect to pair with the pork and chicken items we ordered, my only ask is that we got more or a container for the table because it was so yum! The brisket had a beautiful dark bark from the smoking, pink interior, soft, fall apart, and tender from the fat left on. It was also great the next day. Rib tips were great for those who need an introductory course in rib eating. One of our friends recently transitioned from a vegetarian diet so we really wanted to make it a point to visit and introduce bone-in eating. The rib tips had a good amount of meat and the smokey flavor of the rub came through! Everyone enjoyed the wings, which were large, juicy, fully coated and so unexpected coming from a BBQ place, but so worth the reorder!! Sides were also perfect as they can be. Hushpuppies had bits of corn kernels which I like to see, they were also perfectly fried and crisp. Fries were similar to a sweet-bbq rub, admittedly we thought they would be spicy so maybe change the name to "seasoned" rather than "Spiced," the texture was great. Fried Brussel Sprouts were so large and delicious, the leaves of the brussel sprout fan out as they fry in oil so it feels like a cruciferous based chip that gets the same treatment of the Spiced Fries, if you're indecisive, choose the Brussels, it paired so well with the natural flavor of the sprout. Coleslaw was simple but cooling to the palette. Chili was so flavorful stewing and developing a deep flavor from all the brisket! It would be great over something else like the fries or a starch like potato or Mac & Cheese as its own order. I love it when a restaurant does House Pickles because its such a bright and acidic way to elevate the meaty flavors you have that dominate the plate. Also shout out to the cilantro aioli, you wouldn't expect it, but it was such a nice change out of the sauces you would normally expect out of a BBQ spot. Its almost zesty and cooling so its great to add to fries or any of your meat. Overall, we can tell that this menu was carefully crafted with flavors that compliment and let the BBQ shine and do its thing. Sides might be eaten with the meal but they are also stand alone good, so you can tell there was a lot of quality check and thought behind what you see on a menu, even if its similar to other menus. I encourage you to notice these subtleties in BBQ joints because that's why it matters to open up their own with their distinct craft of BBQ. I always respect a smokehouse and the work they put in to make this nourishing and soul healing food. It feels celebratory, it feels welcoming, and I must come back!

a vegan walks into a smoke house... to support her friends ! lemme start with what I got: spiced fries and fried brussel sprouts. the name "spiced" fries gave me the impression that these would have a cajun, savory with a bit of heat, type seasoning. there was some savory, but also some sweet (there was def some sugar in the seasoning) maybe that's the way it's done up here, but it wasnt my fav. I drown my fries in ketchup anyhow (which already has a sweetness of its own) but $9 for a small side was too much to justify getting these again. fried brusell sprouts, more or less the same thing; savory sweet, almost candied. not bad but again would have reeled in the sweetness a bit. the hospitality we received was unmatched. either the manager or the owner took our order, gave us our food and checked on us periodically to make sure all was well. He was super generous with the sauces: barbecue, cilantro ranch, chipotle mayo and good ole ketchup. apparently, sauces are made in house specifically tailored to pair perfectly with the menu items. Couldn't try the ranch obviously, but the barbecue sauce was so unique, not too sweet, absolutely delicious. chipotle mayo was less so, just tasted like mayo with some paprika added for color (yeah it's got eggs in it but sometimes I bend the rules a bit, ok?) friends got the showstopper platter which was plenty to feed them with leftover after. they gave glowing reviews (the wings were their fav if I recall correctly). I speak for us all when I say we were well attended and served! my final message: Carnivores, support this local business !!!

Visited the establishment early Saturday and the smell was amazing. Customer service was friendly atmosphere is sporty with lots of TVs. Purchase à la carte meats and was a little disappointed in their flavor. Everything was over salted. Highlight? The spicy collard greens. Worth a return? Nah.

I think $38.99 is a fair price for all you can eat. I like that the portions are small so too much is not wasted. This was also my first encounter with the delivery robot. That was cool. I don't like that it has other people's food on it though. I was sitting close to the kitchen so my food didn't have to travel too far but, I wouldn't want my food traveling across the room and making stops at multiple tables before getting to me. I'm from the South and I need a bit of flavor so I did add Salt and Pepper to the items while cooking. The salad dressing had no flavor. I ended up using the yum yum sauce as a dressing. The dumplings were good. The cucumber salad was also good. My favorite hot item was the steak and shrimp. The brisket was mostly fat and the thin pork belly was like Prosciutto. My only suggesting is serving the noodles closer to when the hot items are ready. They get stiff if they just sit. Oh, and I think you need separate tongs for seafood, pork, chicken, and beef. I was worried about cross contaminating. I'd try this again.
