I know when you get past cod, you get better... yes, like many things. This for it lane, its level, has to be the best, yes the best... i have had. The crisp was like a sheet of puff pastry, it was like a heavenly cloud of love and grease in my grill. The fries, though frozen tasted fresh and were very very tasty. Lots of great reviews and recommendations led me to try this place. I will start out by saying something I did not see in any other reviews when I searched "Credit Cards" they do in fact take them. Overall my to-go experience was hit & miss. We had 2 orders of the 3pc Cod Fish N chips, it was $29 before tip. They took our order by phone and gave us a time to pickup which was nice. Now onto the food scores: Tarter Sauce: 5/5 Was the best tarter sauce I've ever had, normal tarter sauce I do not eat, this one I did eat. They did not have ranch, but also gave ketchup/lemon/vinegar if you requested. Fries: 4/5 Nice seasoning, nice crunch, cooked well. Overall not much to complain about, but not 5* blow you away level but above average for sure. Coleslaw: Now a fan of slaw, but I did eat this and it was better than average. A little soupy at the very end kept this from 5/5, that and maybe a salt or pepper packet to go would have made it perfect. But as is, to-go I think this is a accurate score. Cod Fish Battered: 2/5 Maybe I am a Halibut snob, and not a fan of Cod? But these were very bland, very tasteless. The tarter helped. I tried them dry, with Ketchup, Ranch that I brought and the Tarter provided, still very bland. Needed salt or some seasoning similar to the fries, or something. They seemed cooked well. Smelled good. The taste lacked and this is suppose to be the star of the dish, that's why I give this place a overall 3/5 score. read more

The fish and chips here are perfect! Sometimes it's either the fish or the chip is good, but both of these are perfect. The pieces of fish are so big and the fries are seasoned and crispy and there are plenty of them. I got a two piece but had to take half of it home. I don't usually re- heat fish but it was still crispy and full of flavor! The atmosphere of being near the river , sitting at picnic tables, makes me nostalgic for camping trips of my youth but with way better food! Even the Cole slaw was good! Went for the 2nd time in the past year. Solid fish and chips fried in what you can tell is oil that gets charged on a regular basis. The chips are beer battered and crispy which add to the quality of the food. Staff is friendly and they offer a covered outdoor dining option (with heat lamps) if it is raining. Otherwise, you have the option of a peaceful river-side picnic table. Definitely a good spot for lunch or dinner - FYI I think they close at 6 pm. read more

We stopped for fish and chips on our way out of town on our last day visiting the area, and we were so glad we did! My husband and I shared a 3-piece fish & chips and also a grilled cheese sandwich, and both were fantastic (Who doesn't love local Tillamook cheese?! We asked for it 50/50 cheddar and pepper jack.). The fish was light and delicious with a perfect coating, the fries were amazing and some of the best I've had, and the grilled cheese was cooked to perfection. Sitting on the riverbank in the sun eating such delicious food...what could be better?! So sad we had to return to Seattle when we did, as I would happily have eaten there daily if we'd visited them on day one of our trip. We followed up our visit here with a stop at Buttercup Ice Cream and Chowders for an ice cream cone and also took several chowders home, all of which were great! read more

I wanted to make a special visit due to the reviews I read on Yelp but it just didn't meet the expectations. I do want to say that the location is a tiny trailer behind a little antique store that I thought might be a clue that it was a hidden treasure. The weather was bad and the only place to sit is on the outside deck of the antique store where the trailer is parked. It's just a deck with some plastic chairs and not an area really designated for eating/dining. The person taking the orders was very friendly and helpful. We were almost not able to make the order because the POS system is set up with the store WiFi and it just wouldn't connect maybe due to the weather. We finally got our Fish & Chip order in. Frozen chips, small, very small, pieces of fish and even after eating, we were still hungry. Disappointing. read more

This is a great place to go with kids! They have a heated covered patio and open outdoor seating as well. One thing I learned over time was the length of the menu. When it's short you know it's good. I found this place by accident when I discovered Big Wave only offered inside seating and wasn't prepared for takeout. I'm so glad I did. The fish and chips, fries, and cole slaw were delicious. Despite an unexpectedly large crowd due to the unseasonably warm weather, the staff were cheery and efficient. Sitting at a picnic table by the river was just idyllic. We just were driving thru Nehalem and looked up fish n chips. Riverside popped up with many 5 star reviews and I now see why! Food was very good! I had the pulled pork tacos. Super amazing! The sauce compliments the pulled pork in an amazing way. My husband had the 3 piece fish n chips. He said they were great! Lightly breaded so you really taste the fish. It was a win win. Another fun tip is they have a " joke of the day" todays was " why didn't the lifeguard save the hippy?" So I had to ask why.... The answer: " cuz he was way too far out man!!" OK.... Might seem unfair to be "inclusive" in a review about one place. Riverside in Nehalem has the best Cod Fish n Chips I've ever had. I'm a former restaurant owner and we served Fish n Chips (cod). Ours were good, but no better, on a good day, than here. And we worked at it! I say inclusive because there are 3 on the North Oregon Coast. Ship Out in Warrenton, Bow Picker in Astoria, and this one. All are the best at what they do. Bowpicker the best tuna Fish n Chips (FC). Ship Out has a nice covered dining area, and a more diverse menu. They have the best Halibut FC, but I love their Calamari. And if they ever have fresh sturgeon, it's a must. Back to Riverside. I love coleslaw. My wife who doesn't, really likes theirs. Good news, they have pulled pork, for other than fish eaters, and they do their fish into fish tacos. Their eating area is very pretty and they have covered seating for wetter days. People are friendly and unlike either of the other 2, they have beer and wine. All in all, a destination spot. No ocean view, but very scenic and downright tasty. We go for a walk at Manzanita or Arcadia back by Cannon Beach and then come here. Last thing, if someone in your party really is not happy with Riverside's offerings, there's Buttercup Cafe that has yummy chowder and seafood soups that is right on the other side of the building. Never tried, but people rave. Like we can get past Riverside! You've missed something if you don't stop. read more

Riverside was so very good at satisfying our fish cravings! I ordered the pulled pork and fish tacos both were amazing and very flavorful!
