    At the corner...

Three times and I consider it a habit. Today was the third time that the first thing I wanted when I got to (Cannon Beach) was freshly shucked oysters from this place. They aren't cheap at four dollars a Chelle but they're very reasonable if you consider the size, and extraordinary freshness, and sourcing. They weren't sitting in an ice bins while-being trucked from somewhere else: they were literally harvested that morning according to the shop. These were particularly delicious and creamy, so much so that it was clear I should go back for a few more... how I managed to resist, I really don't know. The dude sitting next to me was having fresh fish and chips and that aroma wafted over to me. I couldn't believe how good they smelled. Making a note to try that next time. Joanna provided excellent service.

Great service! You order at the counter when you walk in and then find your own seat. They have indoor and outdoor seating, plus an upstairs area. I ordered the halibut fish and chips with a bowl of clam chowder, and it was the perfect way to kick off our beach trip. Everything was fresh and delicious!

Wanted to like this business so much but we were extremely disappointed. We had family visiting from East Coast and went here thinking we will get great crab cakes and seafood. We got grilled halibut, crab cake dinner, grilled salmon everything came with clam chowder, garlic bread, cole slaw. Nothing was anything to write home about. All seafood tasted under seasoned and over cooked. Crab cake had no crab. Very expensive for the amount of food served. The service was prompt because it was a self serve. Wish I could say nicer things about the place.

The fish is very fresh. A fairly simplified menu, all fried, of fish and chips, popcorn shrimp, calamari, etc. Local beers. A variety of seating in more than one room, including outdoors and upstairs. You order at the counter yourself. They have tvs playing sports and such. Countertop seating as well. A bit chaotic. Your number will be called. Strange selection of gifts, mainly to entice kids, I would say, along the way as you are standing in line (stuffed animals, many that are nautical). We had the unfortunate timing of the police showing up to escort out a *possibly* unhoused individual. It was kind of sad but that's "city" life for you. It was handled with little fuss. Reasonably priced and the folks behind the registers are friendly.

Crab melt, no fries, side of chowder. This open faced melt was loaded with fresh, hot crab.

I have been eyeing this establishment for months as we planned our road trip; specifically because the seafood looked amazing. We walked there from our hotel and grabbed a table out front. There is also seating inside and upstairs. The line was out the door so we placed a mobile order. The food was ready in about 15 minutes. Everything was hot and fresh. The people working there were genuinely kind and clearly working very hard to provide excellent food and service. I don't know when I'll back up this way but I can guarantee that I would come back here. Highly recommend for seafood lovers!!

We visited Cannon Beach and stopped by here for some dinner. The place had lots of customers very friendly staff. I really liked how they had different seating options so you can sit based on your preference. Both their main floor and upstairs had indoors and outdoor seating that is covered, protecting you from the rain. Their outdoor seating also had a few firepits that can make your meal extra cozy. We got their cod fish and chips, clam chowder, and shucked oysters. Their shucked oysters were FAAAAT and fresh and is a great bang for your buck. Their fish and chips were not my favorite as the batter was not crispy. The fries were really good though! Their clam chowder was good.

This is such a fun surprise. Clam chowder was so good and I would highly recommend it; the clam meat was so tender, the soup was thick just enough, the oyster cracker was a perfect complementary item. Tuna melt was fatty and placed on a thick garlic bread.

I came here for a bowl of clam chowder and yum. It was exactly what I wanted. Every bite had little pieces of clam and the chowder was nicely creamy and not overly dense.

Ecola Seafood is such a great little find in Cannon Beach. The oysters were incredibly fresh, and the fish and chips were easily some of the best in the area, crispy, flavorful, and done just right. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience even better. Everything was clean and well-kept, which always goes a long way. Only small knock would be the beer selection. I was hoping for a few more local options to pair with the seafood. But overall, this spot is a gem and definitely worth a visit!

Halibut Fish 'n Chips, small Shrimp Cocktail

We went here twice. The first time was awesome. Grilled salmon, perfectly cooked, shrimp cocktail and clam chowder. The second time we had the grilled haddock, good, and the grilled halibut, way overcooked. Also had the crab cocktail, which was very salty and not as sweet as expected. Overall, a great value, but a little disappointing when the fish could have been better.

The clam chowder here is legitimately good -- creamy, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The salmon was decent too, just wish the portion size matched the price. You're paying full sit-down restaurant money for what is basically a fast-casual counter experience, and that disconnect is hard to ignore. The space itself is small -- maybe 10 tables inside plus a patio outside. The nautical decor is charming and gives it a coastal feel, but the place could use a better cleaning routine. A few spots felt a bit grimy for a restaurant setting, which isn't a great look when you're charging these prices. No dedicated parking at the location, which is worth knowing before you go. Street parking is available nearby, and there's public parking within walking distance, so it's manageable -- just not the most convenient if you're visiting during peak tourist season when spots fill up fast. I get it -- Cannon Beach is a tourist destination and prices reflect that reality. But when the portions feel small, the space feels a little rough around the edges, and you're standing in line at a counter to order, it's hard to justify the cost. Not a bad meal overall, just not quite worth what they're asking. Go in with realistic expectations.

Five stars for Ecola Seafood, a humble cathedral of fried sea life tucked into Cannon Beach. We arrived on a Monday with six stomachs and just as many appetites. The line was moderate, but the staff was brisk and bright-eyed. Though they offered QR codes for ordering like some silicon valley lobster shack, we went analog and talked to a human being. Imagine that. The counterperson gave us a placard with a number and a mission. Sit. Wait. Listen for your number to be called. Outside, we found a table with a gas fire pit in the center that glowed like the heart of a good decision. It was chilly in the shade with a breeze that smelled of salt and maybe stories, but that fire warmed us right up. Within ten minutes our number was called. Salvation comes fast sometimes. I had the halibut fish and chips. The fish was as light as truth and flaked into pieces with the gentlest nudge. The batter was crisp without being greasy. You could write sonnets about the texture alone. Alongside it came a cup of clam chowder that was everything it needed to be and more. Rich. Substantial. Comforting. I drank a can of local dry apple cider that snapped and sparkled and wiped the palate clean like a custodian who loves his work. A friend beside me ordered the Captain's Feast and donated her oyster to my cause. That oyster, my friend, was perfect. Briny, slippery, defiant. It tasted like it remembered the sea, which it probably did as it was likely there yesterday. Everyone in our party left happy. The vibes here are unpretentious and sincere. A place where nothing is trying too hard and everything is simply done well. If more of the world were like Ecola Seafood, there might be less need for conflict. Go. Eat. Sit by the fire or venture upstairs and soak in the view. Wait for your number.

The food and wine were terrific, and the little nibbles served in between courses and only at chef's table were wonderful.   First off, chef John is a member of a long-time commercial fishing family based in Astoria and his network of local ranchers, farmers and fishermen ensured all that was prepared and served was local and fresh.   The beet salad I ordered was scrumptious and perfectly highlighted by a puree with honey and horseradish. She-who-must-be obeyed thoroughly enjoyed the Weathervane scallops that were lightly smoked and served chilled in mushroom consume.   One of the nibbles was a serving of fresh bay shrimp.   My Petrale sole was delicious and featured a very light broth the ingredients to which I'm still attempting to guess. My partner thought the Beachcomber Stew divine.   All was slurped down with wonderful wine: Sauvignon Blanc for my partner, a crisp Rose for yours truly.   I finished with the Swedish Cream dessert topped with a lovely marionberry compote.   Anna's Table was a wonderful surprise, a fair few cuts above all other eateries we tried in Cannon Beach and is highly recommended by this couple.

Negatives: Quality of food. My cilantro rice was absolute mush. I am not sure how it left the kitchen. My husband's seafood boil was overcooked: crab was dry, almost everything overcooked even corn. Inside, the atmosphere is casual, with tables inside and on the outdoor deck. It was Monday at 4:30, and the place was not crowded. We were seated at a window table that had a wonderful view of the beach and ocean. No one else was sat around us. Our server was Aidet, and she was very friendly and high energy. At one point we did have to flag down another server for extra napkins, lemon wedges, and more water. For the most part, great service. For the most part, great service. While our choices were very reasonable, $14-16 each, the food was average. My shrimp salad sandwich was served on a sesame bun you could buy at any grocery store, and the shrimp salad needed more onion and some celery for crunch. It needed to be tossed in something more than mayonnaise. My Cole slaw good enough. My wife liked her clam chowder (better than at a more expensive restaurant last night) but her clam strips often tasted only of the breaded coating. The fries were crispy and seasoned well enough. Again, a very reasonable meal with great ocean views and good service. Just don't expect amazing food.
