Parking is limited and difficult to find. The interior is nice and spacious. Good for medium-large groups. Noise level is quiet. Fish and chips (3/5): the fish was really soft on the inside but wasn't too crispy on the outside. The fries were ok. They weren't super crispy either but the portion size was pretty good. Tap to pay is accepted. Overall Tom's Fish N Chips isn't bad. Food is ok but service is quick. read more

Food was good for a tourist destination but I can't help but feel some kind of way about this place. Everyone's food was delivered to their table while they were number were being called out. Our order however, number was called out and waited for us to pick it up from the counter. Mind you, WE'RE THE ONLY BROWN IN THE CRIWD. Cod Fish was great. 4.5/5 Prefect batter not too much and not soggy like other reviews. Thought the fish was fresh well done. Pieces in the smaller side but I get it. Tenders were tenders. Kids liked it idk I didn't try it. Chowder was just ok. 3.5/5. I thought it could use some more substance of course more clams and more other ingredients. It was a little creamy for my liking. I have this place 5 stars cuz it was great atmosphere. I had a big party with me and tables and chairs were clean and ambiance was welcoming. Good vibes. Came in shortly before close for a late dinner and everyone was very friendly. Feels like your classic beach town option with a fish-oriented menu. There's not a ton that isn't fried so we opted for a Caesar salad with salmon. It was pretty good but there wasn't a ton of salmon. I'm glad I also ordered a taco so that i was full after eating. A chill fish & chips restaurant to try after relaxing at Cannon Beach. We had their fish & chips and their clams & chips. The cod fish was made well. Batter wasn't heavy and the fish was nice and easy to eat. The fries were good too. The clams were good, but filled with too much battered. I didn't enjoy how oily it got as I ate more. Went here after spending a few hours on cannon beach. Talk about a good post beach snack. I got the two piece cod fish and chips. Nice and fresh. Nice place, easy to find. Parking is a bit tight. Had a 3 pc Cod Fish & Chips and a large ice tea - $23.95. Probably not bad considering you are on the Oregon coast, where everything costs more. It's a hard review to give. We ordered a 3 piece cod fish and chips and a cheese burger. Service was friendly but the food fell way short for the price and what we have seen Oregon has to offer. This was my third fish and chips on our road trip and was by far the worst. Unfortunately it wasnt just the worst of three I tried it just wasn't good. The breading was soft, mushy and tasteless, the fish was greasy. It's hard when the price was higher than some of the other meals we tried. The burger was just fine nothing special flavor wise. It just stings since we have had way better fish and chips on our trip and this was barely better than frozen. I hope they do better. read more

My bf had the halibut and chips and I had the tacos, both were so good, so fresh, deliciousness in EVERY bite. Tom's doesn't have the best fish n chips I've ever had. The batter is a bit thin and the fish is also on the thin side. But it certainly wasn't bad. Basic fish and chips menu but food is anything but. Crispy, chunky clam strips, home cut fries, homemade cocktail sauce, and the chowder is plum full of clams with very little potato filler! Sweet, creamy, with a finish that doesn't make your lips tacky. I'm not sure if it's premade, but it's so good you'll want a pint to take home. Cesar salad is good as well, but most aren't there for greens. Special that day was sturgeon whitefish with chips. Yummy! Easy place to take your family, entrance is clear enough for a stroller or wheelchair, seating outside, self serve soda, and cute, clean decor. Everything is served on top of your own pizza pan (cup of soup, basket of fish and chips, sauces, etc.). Clear your own table if you can, because this is a hopping spot to grab a quick bite. read more

A few years back, I had a really wonderful meal at Tom's. Unfortunately, in the five or so times I have been back I have been pretty consistently let down. Today's overpriced and disappointing meal consisted of soggy chicken tenders, fishy tasting tacos, and a blackened salmon Caesar that lacked freshness in all aspects. I don't intend to give this place any more chances. The customer service was pleasant enough and the French fries were good. So maybe would stop by if just wanting fries and a soft drink. Hate to do this but the clam chowder gave my friend immediate food poisoning, like within 30 minutes of finishing this meal. And it was pretty bad, coming out of both ends. Although i also ate here, i had the fish tacos and they were safe. Looked a little sketch to begin with, the man ladled the soup out and like spilled it all over his fingers too which was not an appetizing look. Even while eating it she said it was no special clam chowder and didn't taste too great. But wasn't able to detect bad fish. Anyway long story short if you go don't get the clam chowder. Want a perfect little cute spot to enjoy some seafood by the beach? Look no more! The fish and chips were amazing, made with grilled cod that was absolutely delectable. I'm not sure if the guy helping us was the actual Tom or not, but he was so cool and friendly my partner and I felt right at home. My partner had the grilled version of cod and chips (swapped for Cole slaw) and it was so good he practically went to heaven and came back. Super friendly staff and quick service in a mom and pop fish and chip shop. Not a ton of places to eat in Cannon beach but Tom's has a small menu and does things right. Fish and chips were good, super well seasoned and clean tasting fish. Batter isn't too thick and ketchup and malt vinegar hit when needed. The blackened salmon caesar was very good for those wanting a non-fried option and we were pleased with the crisp lettuce, plentiful dressing and fatty piece of salmon. Price is right for the beach and it's family friendly. read more

We were headed up to Astoria via Highway 101 so this was our quick stop as most establishments were lined out the door. This place was quick to serve as they have a nice concise menu and it appears they have the pace down. While I love fish and chips I'm trying to mend my ways so I had a salad with some salmon on it. Not bad. The hubby said the fish and chips were good so we were happy and back on the rode northbound within the hour. A nice quick stop. Not fancy but hey, it's the beach. Give it a try. read more

Tom's is located in the downtown shopping area of Cannon Beach with plenty of storefronts to visit. The cashier was super friendly and nice. The menu is pretty straightforward. We ordered the 3 piece cod fish and chips. Unfortunately, our fish and chips were room temperature and it tasted like it was under a heat lamp. The fries were soggy. Nothing was crispy and it wasn't seasoned. They also have a few beers on tap and also canned beers available. After you order, you seat yourself inside the restaurant. Let's start with the positive, the young kid behind the counter handing people their orders and cleaning the dining room, was spot on. Now, here is where Yelp let me down a bit, Tom's had 4 stars and while walking around thought, oh it's a quick in and out place like a local hole in the wall, and thought it was a going to be a gem. The food wasn't a gem. The clam chowder was watery and tasted like someone's hand of onion powder slipped a lot. You could tell it was onion powder and not real onions, so not sure how it's made. But I had about 4 spoon fills to be sure, and I couldn't eat anymore As for the Fish and Chips, that was a pass too. When I got them, they looked like chicken fingers or like those frozen Gordon's fish tenders...and they tasted about the same. Bland and no taste, which probably means they get them frozen and just fry them. Stopped in to pick up their latest version of fudge because Christian the Baker keeps evolving the art of fudge making...and you don't want to miss an iteration. Using the owner's grandfather's recipe as the base, he makes some of the best fudge in Oregon. Tonight I was told he decided to explore a Mediterranean approach and added nutty sesame to the fudge. The sharp but soft chocolate is a perfect compliment to a delicious drink on a cold, cold night. While I was waiting for the fudge to be packaged to take back to the fireplace in my room, I spied their latest culinary endeavor sitting in jars on the counter... and actually started salivating. They are now serving Pickled eggs. Incredible. When was the last time you had a pickled egg? When done right, pickled eggs are among the most satisfying and clean bite of delicious ungrilled, ungreasy proteins in the world. And the lounge has decided to serve two different kinds, so we might've died and gone to heaven. If you love eggs of every kind, as I do, boiled eggs hold a special place because they are hearty and compact and completely whole. So when you add a spices and acid to that perfection...it emerges as "wow." The service was attentive and thoughtful always, and I was told they're open New Year's Eve until 9.
