If you like whiskey, Alchemy Lounge is a treat. If, as with my wife you don't go near the stuff - it's still a great place for cocktails and tasty eats. I have a few bottles of "the good stuff" stashed around my house that I always say I'll open during a special occasion - which never seems to arrive . It so happens that Alchemy has an extensive whiskey list which included a couple of my "reserve" bottles. This was the perfect opportunity for me to taste them. I had a flight of three delicious bourbon pours, THEN was told about a special rye whiskey which, well, I had to try as well. So much fun, I enjoyed each of my pours at a cost that didn't break my piggy bank. Meanwhile, my wife loved her mango margarita. While in cannon beach, we stayed at the hotel that was shared with this restaurant and I read great reviews. Well.... The menu doesn't match the one online but I still wanted to give it a shot. My husband got the burger and there is no other option than the side salad for it-- why no fries or something? Also when my husband ordered the burger the waitress said how would he like it cooked- he said medium. She says good that's usually how the cook does it anyways. It came out cooked all the way through. We were the only two people there. The board was good, drinks were very very mid. The restaurant itself has great potential but honestly the menu doesn't match and I felt 80$ didn't justify our dinner. read more

This is an awesome little spot and a great place to grab a drink. The service was just through the roof amazing. The drinks were incredible and we enjoyed a couple of whiskey flights highlighting Ireland and Scotland. We plan to return next time we're in the area. Walked in to pick up keys from the front desk of the hotel connected to the restaurant and was warmly greeted by smiling owner Joel and OG staff Alex. Kind of like the feeling of coming home. The place was packed -- just a testament to their very good food and excellent drinks -- there was even a couple sitting outside and they had a fire going. Wish I had taken that photo. It was a really beautiful moment. The place was decorated and felt very holiday festive with small bright lights reflecting off the tin ceiling. Excited to have a couple of days on holiday here. Stopped in to pick up their latest version of fudge because Christian the Baker keeps evolving the art of fudge making...and you don't want to miss an iteration. Using the owner's grandfather's recipe as the base, he makes some of the best fudge in Oregon. Tonight I was told he decided to explore a Mediterranean approach and added nutty sesame to the fudge. The sharp but soft chocolate is a perfect compliment to a delicious drink on a cold, cold night. While I was waiting for the fudge to be packaged to take back to the fireplace in my room, I spied their latest culinary endeavor sitting in jars on the counter... and actually started salivating. They are now serving Pickled eggs. Incredible. When was the last time you had a pickled egg? When done right, pickled eggs are among the most satisfying and clean bite of delicious ungrilled, ungreasy proteins in the world. And the lounge has decided to serve two different kinds, so we might've died and gone to heaven. If you love eggs of every kind, as I do, boiled eggs hold a special place because they are hearty and compact and completely whole. So there I was, thirsty, walking the streets of Cannon Beach waiting until 4 o'clock when this establishment opened. Yes, I reviewed the yelp reviews, decided that this was the best place to go to based on my Yelp friends and there I was, 4:10 PM on a Thursday. And I was glad to be in the moment at this location, sampling their fine products. They had four old-fashioned on the menu, what is an old-fashioned fan supposed to do? My wife and I did our best to sample and we were very happy with the the work they had done on these old is fashioneds. You've gotta know that they've got three pages of whiskeys and scotches and ryes to taste. It was imposing, and there was something for every taste bud and budget. It was an incredibly cool environment as well. They've got vinyl playing in the background and I was able to enjoy the let it be album by The Beatles and the album by Jimi Hendrix. Absolutely WONDERFUL! The service was exceptional-so friendly and so helpful. The waiter gave us so many great ideas on how and where we should spend our day. We met the chef, and wow!!! He pours his soul into EVERYTHING he makes! Seriously! This is not just any pub food... While the menu is a little bit limited, the options are all very incredible. We also fell in love with the wine. The Pinot Noir and the Pinot Gris were out of this world sensational.! They also let dogs sit on their patio. They came and gave Beau a big bowl of water... Which he loved - and dipped his whole face into. We had the seafood stew, with all fresh fish, and it was absolutely light and delicious. The gentleman next to us got their burger... Which they claim is "the best burger in town". And after seeing him eat it, I believe it to be true. I was filled with envy that I didn't get one too. :) This bar has so much character inside... I saw the girl cutting fresh flowers to put in all the small tiny vases on the table tops. I thought that was a very sweet and thoughtful touch. Everything about this place is thoughtful... The food, the service, the ambience and the kindness. We absolutely loved everything about it and we will come back again. If you have to use the bathroom, you have to walk through the hundred-year-old Hotel that was a old boarding house for logger's. It has so much character. Go down the hallway and look at the American flag. Definitely put this place on your Cannon Beach list... You can thank us later, and tell them that we sent you! Absolutely excellent! Ambiance is snooty. I mean most people who like good whiskey or bourbon have a bit of that. We are a bit snobby when it comes to our beverages. BUT I felt like the particular server we had ALSO felt like I or my guy, weren't going to be good tippers or customers maybe because we looked a bit too casual... I know. We sure did. We also had been drinking already. And we drank more (we had a shuttle from our hotel,) and we were on vacation. And I needed to blow off A LOT of steam. I wanted to try new whiskey/bourbon. So I told the server I wanted a flight and that I usually grabbed a Pendleton or Buffalo Trace and I also love Basil Hayden. So I got a Knob Creek (which I know I like because I'd had that as well previously, but NOT the particular one he brought,) which was an aged 9 years. I had a Michters, which I'd never tried previously. And I had a Blanton's which I'd never tried but I had heard of. I tried the Knob Creek first and it was good. Smooth like always. Then the Michters. I didn't like it. To me the flavor wasn't as rich and it had that whiskey/bourbon BITE. But then the Blanton's oh my. It was delicious. Perfect. Smooth. Carmel-y just wonderful. So I got a drink of that after my flight. AND I had to also try the Old Fashioned on the menu. And it did NOT disappoint. It was absolutely delicious. Not too sweet, which is a pet peeve if mine. I'd definitely come back here again because I like finding new favorites. And I like tasting whiskey and bourbon. read more

Great little lounge right on the main road across the street from a public parking lot. It's in the same historical building a the Cannon Beach Hotel. Wonderful vibe, service, and selection of libations. They have an extraordinary selection of whiskey and bourbon. We tried the Japanese Whisky flight and found a new favorite! Also had some of the best Manhattans ever. They play music on a record player and have a fabulous selection of vinyl that really adds to the whole vibe of the place. Indoor and patio seating. Snacks, small plates, and a few entrees. They make their own in-house pickled eggs and have at least 5 types to choose from; we tried the soy sauce one. We also shared herbed almonds and marinated olives with our cocktails. They also have desserts; we shared a bundt cake that was outstanding. We wish we tried the entrees, but didn't have enough time. They are particularly focused on bourbons and whiskeys--but as a gin and rum person there were many great options for me. They are adventurous with their ingredients and they really, really care about quality. Their food selection is also very good and made with care. The place is small, so summer visitors may have to wait for a table, but it will be well worth it. To those from Portland, this place has a strong Deadshot vibe. The Whiskey options on hand were impressive and the two that were consumed were enjoyable indeed. The food was quite delicious and we devoured every morsel we ordered! They do not usually have ice tea on hand, but Gabe offered to brew and ice some black tea for me, and I took him up on it. This establishment is on the smaller side, but nice and cozy, with outdoor seating as well. Don't let the initial impression mislead you. This place is truly a gem, through and through. The ambiance is casual and funky, but sophisticated on closer inspection. Wonderful omelettes and breakfast potatoes for our breakfast. We were the only customers on a quiet Friday morning, and we truly enjoyed the service, the music, the ambiance, and the food. Unfortunately, the front door was propped open on a cold, mid-October morning because the key wasn't working, and people couldn't enter the building without the door being open. It was cold, but we asked about it before being seated and decided to stay anyway. It was fine but we also didn't linger over coffee to chat--we moved to Bald Eagle to warm up after breakfast. It's a bar, so note that kids are not allowed (a family came in and wanted the staff to make an exception to this rule which is super entitled, IMO). The drinks are great and inexpensive.
