    Midnight Martini

An absolute gem on the coast. The Rusty Moose is cozy, charming, and so dog-friendly it feels like your pup is the guest of honor. Inside, it's intimate and inviting; outside, the seating is playful and full of personality. The food and drinks are equally standout -- we couldn't pick a favorite if we tried. We sampled the midnight martini, a stunning specialty board, and a Belgian waffle dessert with Pinot Noir compote and whiskey butterscotch that honestly deserves its own fan club. Yes, it's a small, family-run spot, so service isn't rushed -- but that's part of the magic. The owners are warm, welcoming, and clearly pour love into every detail. Take your time, savor everything, and enjoy one of the best hidden gems the Oregon coast has to offer.

This location is now called RustyMoose. It has much of the same food and drink, but they say they will be changing those slowly. Hopefully they don't change the cocktails we loved! The black Manhattan was very good and the Dark Cherry Whiskey sour was outrageous. My wife enjoyed a nice Pinot Noir. We shared the cheese board. It was a great selection of cheese and enough bread and crackers.

What a great way to celebrate our anniversary! We had the prosciutto rolls, cheese plate and hubby tried the cherry whiskey sour while mine was the Mistress. (I had two) Excellent food, service, fun. The service is relaxed and on the slower side so if you are in a hurry, go somewhere else. We were in no hurry!

We came to MacGregors at 4:30 on Friday evening. We were able to be seated outside right away, but it does fill up quite fast, so if you want to come, come as early as you can! We were very cozy the entire time. We learned that there recently was a change in ownership, so their online menu is out of date, but they provided us with current menus. I really loved their Manzanita pretzel-it was so chewy and flaky, and the sauces it came with were tasty (a mustard and a white cheddar sauce). The only bone I have to pick here is that it is served with little pickled peppers. I loved the addition of these personally! However, I think any additions should be specified in the menu. We have a friend with a pepper allergy who was unable to try the pretzel because we found out about these upon presentation. Their crème brûlée cheesecake was delightful-the caramel sauce was my favorite part of this. I enjoyed two cocktails while here and would order both of these again: Smoky Bramble and Lavender-this was outstanding. I loved the combination of mezcal with the lavender, and they balanced well. I think out of the cocktail list, this one was the most unique. The Fig and Ginger-this was delicious and the ginger did not overpower the fig. The lime gives this a bright aftertaste. You could see some of the fig seeds at the bottom of the glass. This was outstanding. Their service was a little slower than their usual, but I appreciate that they ensured the quality of their drinks and food before serving them to us, and our server was wonderful. I would recommend them to anyone and I am eager to return to see what new menu options they have in store.

The place is dedicated to the owners (past) dogs!

We cannot say enough great things about this place. The decor is absolutely wonderful! Rusty and Moose were the owners dogs and they dedicated the business to them. There is a sweet memorial wall of all their previous dogs and one of the drinks is named after Sweet Samantha. The cocktails were *incredible* and holy smokes the salmon that we added to the cheese board was so good!!! One of us is gluten free and they had really good gluten free crackers to sub in. Service was impeccable. It is very clean and upscale without being snooty. You're totally fine to wear jeans and dress for the weather. This is a place to write home about. What a gem! Very small so if they're full, they're full.

Bartenders choice, Vodka, citrus & nothing sweet.

Kind of like the feeling of coming home. The place was packed -- just a testament to their very good food and excellent drinks -- there was even a couple sitting outside and they had a fire going. Wish I had taken that photo. It was a really beautiful moment. The place was decorated and felt very holiday festive with small bright lights reflecting off the tin ceiling. Excited to have a couple of days on holiday here. Stopped in to pick up their latest version of fudge because Christian the Baker keeps evolving the art of fudge making...and you don't want to miss an iteration. Using the owner's grandfather's recipe as the base, he makes some of the best fudge in Oregon. Tonight I was told he decided to explore a Mediterranean approach and added nutty sesame to the fudge. The sharp but soft chocolate is a perfect compliment to a delicious drink on a cold, cold night. While I was waiting for the fudge to be packaged to take back to the fireplace in my room, I spied their latest culinary endeavor sitting in jars on the counter... and actually started salivating. They are now serving Pickled eggs. Incredible. When was the last time you had a pickled egg? When done right, pickled eggs are among the most satisfying and clean bite of delicious ungrilled, ungreasy proteins in the world. And the lounge has decided to serve two different kinds, so we might've died and gone to heaven. If you love eggs of every kind, as I do, boiled eggs hold a special place because they are hearty and compact and completely whole. So when you add a spices and acid to that perfection...it emerges as "wow." The service was attentive and thoughtful always, and I was told they're open New Year's Eve until 9.

I enjoyed the steamed Manila clams appetizer, the two oyster shooters, and my ribeye. The issue was, all the items were brought out at once. When ordering it, I did specify "to start" for the appetizers and did not in any way indicate I want it all to be brought out at once. The steak was wonderful; I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't just switch out the potatoes and asparagus for a salad, but I understand how that could be a substitution and they don't do substitutions at all. To do that I would have needed to pay $12 to add on a salad, which I chose not to do. I also was not offered bread - which coupled with the fact that neither the minimal prep time oyster shooters nor the clams with the toasted garlic baguette came out early, and I was really hungry, made me wonder whether they didn't offer it to me because I was dining solo. Every table sat before and after me, whether two people dining, or seven, were offered bread and butter. I asked for a refill of the hot water for tea three times and I understand that maybe bringing me another tea bag would have been extra, the server typically offers a new bag or a refresh without me needing to ask, so that really was different. All in all, I'd come back here; the food is stellar and the portion sizes are great. I just will know to ask for bread, and also for the two appetizers not to be brought out at the same time as a sizable entree because that made it challenging to focus on one item at a time as you don't want to oyster shooters to get warm, nor the clams & steak to get cold. Not the best balance for the level of a steakhouse that this place is. The crème brûlée was delicious.

There was a house salad that was pretty tasty. I liked the pumpkin seeds and the house salad dressing was citrusy and tangy and not too sweet. I has the house made fettuccine and added clams. They had chicken meatballs (which they loved) on theirs, but also found the pasta to be not quite right. There was a cup of chowder somewhere over the meal as well that was well received. It was a little loud but other than that the place has a nice feel to it. We all had a specialty drink of some kind, and opted for small scoops of house made ice cream for everyone.
