Sassy bartender that we had no issues with. I am not a local and I thoroughly enjoyed food and ambiance here. I had a shrimp po boy with ranch instead of the spicy sauce and my partner had a bacon bleu which was large and tasty. The fries were really good as well. I didn't get a drink this time since I was driving, maybe next visit. The ocean is nearby so there's no reason to come in here crabby. Enjoy the horse races on the TV and order from the menu and you're golden. Tip nicely and be a good human being is all that is asked. read more

Ricks is the stereotypical small town dive bar and I love every bit of it! Cheap drinks, interesting locals, sassy bartenders and fabulous food. The burgers are the best in the city by far. Tuesdays through Saturday Ricks is open for breakfast. This week I had very well cooked omelette with perfectly crispy hash browns. The biscuits and gravy were also delicious. An excellent dive. Food was great, the bartender was a riot, and drinks were cheap. It's everything you want out of a place like this.

Dive bar with ice cold beer and great burgers. Exactly what to look for when visiting the coast as it's on the main drag and has outdoor seating. Burger was excellent as always as it's hand formed 1/2 pound with cheese and secret sauce. The menu is smaller than normal but still some great bites. read more

It's a dive bar so it's exactly what you'd expect. One employee and she managed to rock our socks. She was handling the seating, pouring and cooking and she was on it. She's to the point and some reviewers might be sensitive to that but when she's on her own; it's necessary. The fries - good, the burgers - good, the wings - gooooood. Seems they don't serve tourists after 9pm weeknights. We walked in and the narly hag of a bartender promptly announced they were closed. The half dozen locals kept eating and drinking. Initially, we thought the bar looked welcoming. Upon stepping inside a lady came to our table to inform us that they had no waitresses and so she'd also be working the bar. Cool, no worries. We all ordered. I ordered a taco salad and asked if it came in a taco shell. She said no so I assumed no chips. When the food arrived, I noticed chips. My friend asked if it could be remade with no chips due to the fact she has a dietary restriction. The lady said she would not remake it just because we did not know. She ended up charging us for something that wasn't eaten. This is the worst display of customer service I've ever witnessed. We will never return. Stopped in for a few beers and ordered the broasted chicken. Food was really good and local crowd added some nice flavor. Woman bar tending was stressed out by big crowd but nice and very competent so I tipped her extra. I've noticed a couple reviews here from some Portland snowflakes that should be addressed. One soy boy is trying to white knight in some misguided #metoo Rockaway Beach edition and another SJW is offended, and viscerally hurt, because the moniker "freedom fries" has infringed upon his consciousness in his safe space. You fragile malcontents need to realize that this is the real world out here in these small towns, with real people who work, not wring their hands in angst over the forlorn injustices of modern society. Stop imposing your academically, unrealistic, construed "values" on other people and businesses and leaving these stupid negative reviews. You wouldn't do this in Yemen or Cambodia so stop making fools of yourselves by doing it here. Reasonable food served by locals who have that "local color." It's a dive bar, no question, and if you're looking for something more, you should go somewhere else. Burger was delicious and the portions were large. My clam strips were yummy but slightly undercooked in spots such that I worried I might get sick but I no issues. Be aware this is a bar that has food. The service was awesome... The hubby had burger and fries, I had fish and fries and both were yummy. I had a few beers ( nothing fancy) and the Hubs had a long island...I'll just say they actually limit you to two per visit...they don't skimp on the alcohol. For a roadhouse setting this place was very cool. Only reason we didn't rate it 5 stars was because there were two very drunk girls with lots of drama that talked the entire time we were there. read more

Hi. I love Ricks. Its an oasis of great food and beverages in an otherwise barren small town. There are other restaurants, but none as fun, with food as good. The servers at this restaurant are as helpful as can be. They are great for doing what they do and DO GET OVERWHELMED. Every day, year in and out, for decades. The locals get it, we appreciate them for what they do. Then the PORTLANDERS get there. Demanding much, get rude, and once again, remind the locals why we hate Portlanders with attitudes rolling into town. Hey, this is a GREAT pub, bar, restaurant. While on vacation, we went to Rick's for dinner and drinks. The food, which was clearly freshly made, was excellent. I had the meatloaf special with mashed potatoes, and my wife had a bacon bleu burger. Both meals were delicious! The cold Boneyard IPAs were also perfect. The woman who did everything in the bar was pleasant, attentive, and straightforward. This tavern has a local friendly vibe. We are definitely going back and we highly recommend! read more

We were in that "we just need food" place and decided to take a chance on Rick's. Though it's certainly not the best it was surprisingly pleasant. It's a dive bar, straight up. Know that going in. There'll be a bunch of locals hanging out drinking a Budweiser at the bar, but they're jovial and make for an amusing background. The waitress was kind of a no nonsense type but friendly and happy to give a suggestion. My husband had clam strips and I had the pastrami burger (I can't remember their name for it). The burger was clearly freshly created, not a premade/frozen patty, and the right kind of messy. My husband's clam strips were straight out of pretty much any seafood restaurant on the coast, and that's not a bad thing. I don't know if we'll be back-- lots of enjoyable places are popping up-- but for tonight it was right. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. We came in at 1125pm on Saturday night and were greeted immediately with "we're closed." We literally came in for a drink, during the stated business hours, after walking 2 miles. Too bad there were still people in there, both after we left and when we walked past 20 minutes later. Guess customer service isnt a priority for this establishment. read more

My wife and I love to stop in for burgers and beer every time we're in the area. The burgers are good, and the beer selection is what any dive in Oregon has. I normally love this kind of place but this one star is partly for irresponsibility and the rest about rudeness when it wasn't necessary. Similar to the other review where the people were told to get off the floor (no excuse for treating people that way) We were on our way up going north through Oregon for a wedding. Someone had told us the roadhouse was a great place to go so we called ahead and asked how late the kitchen was open. The person on the phone told us they would serve us as along as we could make it by 5 minutes to 10pm they would let us in and it would be worth it. That sounded fair. So we hustled and we actually made it there around 9:30pm and the door was locked.. We called from the parking lot and they answered and told us rudely that they were closed and that the time was "bar time" which apparently means 30 minutes ahead?. The guy even acted as if we were stupid for not knowing this rather then saying something like "sorry we're already closed" or "sorry, we closed early because no one was here" as they clearly did. Since we are not from this town we just didn't know that the place considered itself a bar, what "bar time" was there, or that trusting the person on the phone would mislead us into a position where essentially know one was open and we couldn't get anything to eat after a 10 hour drive.
