We have been to Tie Breaker many times over the past year. Food has always been mediocre, but others seem to enjoy it more than myself. Service has always been hit or miss. Lately service has gone downhill in my opinion. While there are friendly people working here, I can no longer deal with the attitude of the owner/server, Nancy. If she's having a bad day, beware! You will be made to feel as if you are a bother. Rude, rude!! Exactly why she is in the hospitality industry if she dislikes people so much? I will no longer deal with her BS. Stopped by for late lunch. He had fresh fried fish with fries and pasta salad. Fish was tasty and so were the fries. I had a Cobb salad with chicken breast that has the best cherry tomatoes in it with lots bacon bits and black olives and red onions and sliced cucumber, a sliced egg and lots of bleu cheese and bleu cheese dressing. The food was great!! The drinks were great, the poor waitress was the only one working, I saw at least 3 other people that worked there just wondering around not helping her at all!! Very poor service. Only three tables had customers but somehow the staff couldn't provide service. Had to request napkins, table setting, vinegar. We had to get up to request a knife, forgotten drinks and water refills. The only saving grace no minimum tip required for our party of six. read more

Spacious and airy one of the only places open till midnight is welcoming and fun. Almost everyone seemed to know each other, but they were nice to us, and it made us comfortable. Rockaway Beach is an adorable beach town! This morning we walked over to Tie Breaker....a small sports pub....to have breakfast. The breakfast sandwich was excellent, as well as, the traditional sausage and eggs. Ask for Dana! She's fun and very quick....and her positive energy is a great way to start your Saturday morning! I was really excited to try this place but oh boy I left very disappointed. We walked in, sat at the bar the bartender was very snippy and said u gonna order? I said yes and she gave menu's. When I told her what I wanted she ripped the menu's out my hand. Put order in and got on her phone and started texting with an angry face. The elk burger had jam and feta cheese which was not in the description. Meat was over cooked. I did however love the ambiance...but that's not enough for me to ever recommend this place. We tried the Tie Breaker last Sunday after a long drive to the coast. There were 5 of us. The place was pretty full, but the single server was efficient and friendly. We all ordered different dishes.
