Stopped by Breakside Brewery on the way back from the Oregon coast to Washington. Wanting to get a piece of what Astoria is like, we got a lobster roll, a Dungeness crab roll, and several oysters. The Willapa Bay oysters were served with a tangy mignonette, which was pretty darn good. I can say the lobster roll was good too, as they tasted crunchy and creamy. All in all, great seafood! My main critique is that portions were considerably small for the amount I paid for the food. I left satisfied but not full, so I would not come here if you're craving something more satiating. We were getting hungry on our way back home to Washington from Oregon so we stopped by Breakside Brewery in Astoria. We got a lobster roll, Dungeness crab roll, and several oysters. The willapa bay oysters were served with a tangy mignonette. They were sweet and tangy at the same time. If I could I would've ordered more because they were that addicting! I personally had the lobster roll and that came with a side of salt and pepper chips. The lobster roll was crunchy and creamy. It paired well with the chips. Breakside Brewery has always provided an excellent beer experience for Steve and myself and we weren't aware that they opened this location in Astoria. We have been to the Portland locations more than once so this was a pleasant surprise for sure! For beer this time around I got the Luz Natural which is a wonderful and refreshing Mexican Lager. I enjoyed this one so much and I rated it quite highly on my account for Untappd. Flavors to find with this beer crisp, clean and a nice breadiness that made this beer so infectious. This beer is nice and light bodied and effervescent. We also purchased the Cheers to the Land which is a Harvest Lager with flavor elements of floral, honey, hoppiness and a clean aftertaste. This beer is nice and light bodied as well which more often than not what I desire most days anymore. Another great beer experience with Breakside Brewery and I can't wait to come back! read more

Breakside beers are always solid and the Astoria location was no exception. We came here on a Monday afternoon and it wasn't very busy. We did a flight of 6 to find our favorite IPA and others in the group also tried cocktails. We ordered lunch too: a delicious tri tip sandwich, fresh local oysters, shrimp cocktail, a hot dog, giant pretzel with beer cheese and Mac and cheese. The tri tip sandwich had super tender meat and great sauces - I would get it again for sure. The pretzel was also great for sharing and a hit with the kid. I just wish their menu had still had the seafood roll on it, but otherwise I'd be back for sure when in Astoria. read more

Solid brewery with a few standout ipas. Worth stopping at and has a great laidback vibe. We sat and played one of the games they have in house and shared a full flight. If. We'd had more time we would have tasted everything which is always a good sign to me. If I've already picked the things I want to try and having them makes me want to try the stuff outside of my normal picks, you're doing something right! This establishment was recommended to me by a local. Laid back local brewery with delicious homemade food. I tried the tri tip sandwich (smoked in house) and the mac and cheese. Incredible. Break side IPA is a great citrus forward west coast IPA (bitter and hoppy), also tried the berry cider. Will come back here again when I pass through Astoria. read more

We had a great time hanging out and chill. My wife and I went and had a beer and some food. I had the passion fruit sour and it was great! Not so sour it made ya pucker but not to sweet either. My shrimp roll was spot on! Fresh and not heavy but left me feeling like I had enough. My wife got the cheese plate and there were some good, unique cheeses. It was the perfect smaller meal to go with the beers. Service was great, as food came out fast. Ambiance was top notch! They had the big garage door like walls so you could sit inside but with lots of fresh air and just a nice chill vibe! Definitely a great place in this town of good breweries to visit! read more

Went over to the new Breakside location in Astoria where the old co-op used to be. Nice clean location and friendly professional staff. There was hardly anyone in there so we sat at the bar where the tender was quick to come over and greet us, take our order and bring our beers and some water. My two main issue with the place are the food and the prices. I ordered a crab roll that came with a small bag of Tim's Cascade chips on the side. My husband had the green salad with steak added and we shared a prawn cocktail. We each had one beer. He had a pint and I had a 12 oz pour of the flagship IPA. The crab roll had plenty of crab in it but it was virtually unseasoned. The bun was ok it was buttered and toasted. I ended up just eating most the crab and leaving a lot of the bun since it was nothing special. My husband salad looked ok but his feedback was that it was barely dressed and the steak he paid extra for had zero seasoning on it. Final price with a 20% tip was $82.20! In comparison you could go to the fort and have the arugula salad they have which is delicious for I think $14 if you don't add a protein and it comes with bacon and parm. Or their most expensive burger for $18. Similar would be true of Buoy as well. My hope is that they improve their menu (there weren't many options) and the quality of the food and lower the prices. Again atmosphere was great and staff was also great but we probably won't be going back unless we hear things have improved. There are too many options in town and Breakside will need to step up their game if they're going to compete. read more
