Found Fort George right down the street from our hotel and they had a black bean burger on the menu (whooo!) Headed over for a late lunch/early dinner at 3 pm. You can choose from the wood fired pizza section upstairs (I believe they take reservations) or the pub downstairs (first come first serve) which has a few indoor tables, some semi-outdoor tables that are well covered with a roof and glass sides, or a fully outdoor beer garden with covered and un-covered picnic tables. You order at the counter and then pick your table, they'll drop off the food to you. We opted for the black bean veggie burger which came with pepper jack cheese, guac, some Aioli, and a side of fries. It was very good and exactly what we were craving. They did have a vegan chicken sandwich that looked good but instead I went with a side salad with poppy seed dressing. The salad was fresh and so delicious and the dressing was perfection! Also did a side of hummus and veggies. The hummus wasn't fresh/home made, rather it was from a local place (I believe) and was pretty good. We didn't have their beer but they did have a large selection with varying ABVs and types (the fresh hop IPAs looked extra good); however we didn't see any non-alcoholic options when we looked. We had the ice tea which was fine as well as a Lüp, which was a sparkling hop water, it was pretty good. They also have a gift shop with shirts, hats, beers, and more. They had four (!!!) different types of aged barleywines - we regret not getting some to bring back home. Everyone working was also welcoming, friendly, and helpful when I had a few questions about the menu. Would recommend and we'll come back the next time we're in town !

We were seated right away and got seats near the windows to enjoy the sunset. We ordered: Shrimpy Bread-this was tasty, but the teeny tiny frozen shrimp they use were not it. I'm thinking even normal-sized shrimp chopped up really small would have been tastier, but also, if you live for that shrimp flavor, this will be your jam. For me, the lemon flavor stood out, and combined with the cheese, it made it so worth it. Yum. Wood-fired pizza-half almighty and half carousel - this was omg, chef's kiss, perfect to share between the two of us. If we lived in Astoria, we could see ourselves coming in for this combo to take home. Really liked the decor. I chose this brewery because it was close to the water and had a patio and because the weather was nice out, that was the perfect choice. It was crowded but not too crowded and we were able to get a spot on the patio overlooking the water. The set up here is quite interesting and comes very close to a one stop shop. It has part convenience store and beer bar all wrapped into one and the tap list of beer is pretty extensive. Lots of local or PNW area beers on tap but they also have some exclusive beers of their own that I almost missed. I was ready to go but Steve pointed this out to me so we got a beer here after all. I liked the tucked away seating and at the time we were there there wasn't anyone else having a beer so the peace and quiet was appreciated. The beer that we had was a lager and it was okay. It was apparently brewed out of Bend, Oregon but I am not sure if another brewery does this for them or not. The flavor highlights with this lager is a breadiness and somewhat of a clean aftertaste. It was fair but it kind of gave me the impression of a big corporate beer as I didn't see much personality to it in the flavor profile. But other than that I did enjoy my first visit to a Growler Guys and as the name implies you can bring in a Growler Bottle and select from the wide list of beers to enjoy.
