This was our first time and the food was outstanding, and our service was outstanding, and the restaurant was absolutely charming. The only drawback was a server named Tiara who who talked nonstop to certain clients and on the phone which made the experience unpleasant. No one wants to hear about her 10 pound weight loss over the holidays or the mace and the knife that she carries to protect the town or how in her opinion the police just don't do their job. We visited here with my 3 year old grandson. What a hidden gem. The food was delicious and cheaper than a visit to McDonald's. Then we discovered the back with children's rides, the kind that used to be outside grocery stores. My grandson had a blast riding them. When you walk in, they hand you menus and you get to pick where you sit. From there, you then have to go back and order your food and pay at the counter. Then you wait for your food. I find that weird but not the end of the world. They were so sweet and kind and upbeat, even though we came in Valentine's Day. We had two milkshakes, mine was apple pie and I freaking LOVED it. Then we both got the big cheese burgers (fried Mac n cheese on top.) it was phenomenal. However, come hungry. I could barely make a dent in it. It was also incredibly messy but that made our date more fun‍ The main reason I wanted to come was to get a good old fashioned milkshake (they give extra in the tins which is like a whole other milkshake.) and for the atmosphere. WOW- what a wonderful experience we had stopping here for lunch. We both had BLTs and fries- they were delicious! But even better, the old fashioned diner vibe was soooo charming with antique gas pumps, kiddie rides (yes, they work) and a giant Bobs Big Boy in the front window. The Philips family owns and runs it and we had a wonderful talk with Terry who gave us great advice on things to see on our vacation. I HIGHLY recommend this place! read more

You walk into the restaurant where you're handed a menu and told to sit at a certain table, and to come back up to the cashier to order and pay. They say everything is self serve, to help yourself to soda and water, there are no condiments on the table, but when you get paper cups to fill catsup from the self service catsup pump provided next to the self service soda, the owner walks up and sternly says those come in your basket. Then, when we finally got our food, it did take awhile as they were very busy, he served us and with my filled catsup cups next to me , he has the audacity to say that there is a paper cup under the fry sauce if I wanted any catsup‍ like he didn't make the point clear the first time! Came in for lunch mid-week around noon. Immediately greeted after walking in and given instructions on where to order and who will seat you. Service is friendly, accommodating and attentive. The atmosphere inside is definitely diner. There's a lot of cool nostalgic decor. We ended up ordering two Twist sandwiches, one with onion rings, the other with tator tots. They charge $.50 for a side of ranch. You don't really need it though, since they serve their homemade fry sauce in the condiment caddy at your table. The onion rings and tator tots are an extra $1.75, if you upgrade from crinkle fries. We also ordered a vanilla malt milkshake to share. They only have one size shake, 16oz. The milkshake was super yummy! The sandwiches were good, but I'll definitely be back to try their burgers. The staff is very friendly and check on you often to make sure everything is good. Once you've been seated, they do wait on you at your table. Ordering at the counter is a little misleading when tipping. We ended up leaving a tip on the table at the end of our meal. Ok I've been back in Tillamook for 4 months now...and still haven't ate at the Dutch mill.... Don't know why.... It's got a catchy look from the outside.... Well today I was looking for breakfast and dennys was full the fern was full so I headed home.... Well I saw Dutch Mill and was like ok.... I went I did and they have a small breakfast menu but they had biscuits and gravy which is really what I desired.... I go to order and well 10 am they are done serving breakfast... I went back to the drawing board and decided on a Super Bee..this bacon wrapped jalapeño popper burger with ciracha and Mayo was dynomite! Seasoned fries were good... I heard couple diners complement the waitresses on how much they liked the ambiance and good food.. well I have to agree... great place to dine so try it sometime... read more

This was a really fun place to stumble across while walking around downtown Tillamook area. It looks like a plain old diner from the outside but when you step in, you are taken back to the good old days with black and white floors and a soda counter. We really enjoyed the food here, albeit it is diner food, grease and all (what you expect it to be). The restaurant was clean and the employees were all working hard to serve the customers in a timely manner. Our burgers were delicious as were the fries. You have to take your cups up to the counter to get refills and you order at the counter. Prices were a bit high imo for a diner but the portions were decent sizes. If we are ever though Tillamook again, we would stop. Easy street parking. read more

This place is set in a 50's or so style diner. You order at the counter and take a number to your table and they bring you your food. If you have ever been to Cruiser's in Portland this is the exact same vibe, this place has been around longer than Cruisers. In fact, this place just got #11 on the top 13 Diner's in America. My service, even though you order at the counter, has always been great. They always refill drinks in a timely matter and check on you. I think last time I was in they were setting up a self-serve soda area so this may have changed. You can host a bday party for the kids 8 and under in the back and it has some young kid type rides back there. read more

This restaurant restored my faith in burgers. I have been convinced for a few years that I had lost my taste for burgers. I know, that's unAmerican, probably even illegal, but it is what it is. I just felt like I had a blah nothing in my mouth every time I stuck a burger in it. But now I know, it's not me, it's the burger! Not only did Dutch Mills burger restore my faith in burgers but it may possibly have been the best burger I've ever eaten! Bacon, tomato, added pickles, cheese and Thousand Island. The patty is hand pressed, but really, so what about the pressing if the meat is tasteless, it's not the hand pressed gimmick that made it great, it's the flavor. OH. MY. GOD. It was deeeeeelicious! I almost never get through a burger, and this one was huge, but I wasn't leaving a speck of that flavor bomb on my black and white checkered paper lined basket. Oh yes, there were fries too. They were good, but after the burger I rolled out of Dutch Mill without an ounce of room in my belly for more than 2 or 3 fries. One more thing: Maybe two. From the moment you walk in the staff seemed incredibly annoyed that customers were arriving. The man and woman in the open kitchen slapping that slop together look bitter as heck and the food showed. They offer overpriced burgers and fries. I have some dietary needs, so I ordered a veggie burger, extra at 2.50 for a cheap Morningstar brand, not even made in-house at that price. plus a side of ranch for .50, for fries, which they had for free at the condiment station which was hidden from view from the weird ordering system counter, which was another way to understaff your diner. The staff seems nervous because the ding-dong dude expediting, maybe a partner? kept micro-managing hungover style, nervous, shaky, and ignored most customers. It was a hot Thursday afternoon, the kids are out of school and they had a bunch of used and very filthy (very dirty) overpriced kids' rides that no parent in their right mind would let their kids near. For the food, my burger was mushy and over-seasoned with cumin, it had below-budget American cheeze product and old, vinegar-forward coleslaw from a bag, no extra charge for once. the fry sauce was tasteless and the ranch was also tasteless, all told, they got me for 23.40 which they happily charged me when they very well knew that meal was terrible. After a fun weekend at the coast we were looking for a place to grab a bite on the way home. Didn't have time to do a lot of research, but this was 4 solid stars and was a "dinner" I thought they would have some breakfast foods and maybe some fun lunch stuff. When we walked in the individual behind the counter preceded to inform us. "This is the menu, look at it, order and then sit down" I was caught off guard and just said "good morning" While I was being stared at to make my decision, I asked "where are the breakfast items on the menu?" to which she replied: this is a dinner, we don't do breakfast, we do burgers and sandwiches.... Ok then... Feeling pressured I finally just said "I'll do a mushroom and Swiss burger" her response "do you want fries with that or do you want to pay more for something else" I asked what the "something else" was and was informed it was onion rings or a salad. I opted for onion rings. The other two people in my group ordered and she told us the total was $68.00! What in the world?! I get inflation, but this was two burgers and a sandwich.... In Tillamook Oregon, not NYC. With the "suggested tip" of 20% it was around $80! ( I'm all For tipping, but this seemed like a bit much for two burgers and a sandwich) Well! Thank god that order experience was over. She told us our table was number 6. We sit down and apparently they like people to feel like they are being interrogated, because the light over the table was so bright I felt like I was in an operating room. I reached above me and unscrewed the light bulb. I was seeing spots because it was so bright. I was then approached by a man, who didn't look different from any of the customers, that asked " did that light burn out? I replied no it didn't, it was just extremely bright. He then proceeded to screw it back in! I immediately started seeing spots again and proceeded to unscrew it. I told him it was extremely uncomfortable, but I would make sure it was screwed back in before we left. He then walked away. Not two minutes later I was approached by the lady who took our order and said that the light had to be screwed in because it had to match the rest of the seats, but if we wanted to move somewhere else we could go sit in the back. I was annoyed, but didn't feel like arguing over a spot light designed to signal ships out from sea, I agreed to go to the back..... Well, to my joyful discovery, every light was the same back there too. We found the only corner that we could stand to sit at and waited for our food... that was basic at best. Overcooked burger with bland onion rings. To make matters worse, that guy that screwed back in the spot light was apparently the owner! He was also in the back area and proceeded to tell us all about why the spot lights and his remodel restaurant. He talked to us the WHOLE TIME. I understand times have been hard for everyone. I understand that people In Tillamook don't have a lot to do, but this entire experience was awful. The food, the PRICE, the awful service and the spot lights. Never again. Stay away. Drawn to the beautiful old neon sign we stopped here for lunch on a Saturday. Lots of people in booths and at tables. We were greeted warmly and seated immediately. You order at the counter and your food is brought to you. My partner ordered the Fieri, a cheeseburger with pastrami, lettuce, Swiss cheese - sounds crazy but he loved it. I got fish and chips and a salad. Delicious. The owner is on site helping out and making sure people are happy. One of his kids works here (I think). He has a great collection of gleaming vintage coin-operated riding toys that some stores used to have a few of out front for the luckiest kids to ride. The fries were the crinkle cut don't think there was anything special about them but the entire meal was Good and I ate the entire thing. Husband got the Cadillac burger with onion rings, a couple dollar up charge. The burger had fried onions, pepper jack cheese, thick cut bacon and bbq sauce. His take was it was pretty. I didn't try the burger so can't give my opinion but the onion rings were light and crispy and automatically served with ranch. Of course we had to try a ice cream treat at this old school spot, we ordered a strawberry malt that was made with hand scooped strawberry ice cream. What can you say bad about ice cream?
