I LOVED that they had a 2 slice or 3 slice option here! I was able to get the perfect amount with their 2 slice French toast breakfast. I added on sausage links and to my surprise they were huge. They were overcooked on the ends, but good flavor. They serve Pepsi here, so I stuck with water. The menu isn't too remarkable, we shopped around in town and were finding very similar menus at almost every restaurant. This is a reasonable walk from the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad and is near Dairy Queen, so just look for that to locate the restaurant. We timed it perfectly on a holiday weekend and when we arrived, only one other couple was there. Although the inside is lively, we opted to sit at a picnic table on the patio and people watch. The only challenge is listening to the squawk box from DQ in front of the restaurant. The servers were very helpful and the menu had several good choices. I opted for fish and chips (substituting onion rings), and the Hubbs got the bbq rib special. They offered flavored lemonade which was refreshing. We went here in Garibaldi pretty late at night, about half an hour before their closing time. But we were graciously treated, and offered to be seated. But given that we were there close to closing time and we had to get back to our Airbnb, we chose to take the food to go. I tried the fish and chips and clam chowder, and we both had the chocolate cake, all of which were phenomenal. The clam chowder was warm and comforting, even though I had it after getting back to the Airbnb, and the fish and chips were perfectly fried and crispy without being too crispy. But the stand-out item was definitely the chocolate cake, which neither of us were expecting. We were expecting a dry, half-decent cake, but the cake we got was perfectly moist and rich without being overpoweringly rich and heavy. Our stop to Olmedo's was a happy accident. After discovering that the restaurant we originally intended to visit was closed, we decided to give this establishment a shot. Suffice to say, the food exceeded our expectations. The chowder was INCREDIBLE and fish and chips were tender and fresh. Since the service was so excellent and environment was family friendly, my only complaint was that the salmon was a bit dry (but that could be due to the fact that we chose scrambled eggs instead of overeasy). I've lived in the area for five months and just discovered Olmedos. I tried the chicken fried steak breakfast and everything was excellent! The breaded steak patty was crisp and didn't taste like it was dumped out of a box. The sausage gravy was flavorful and the scrambled eggs were not over cooked but soft and buttery. The salmon had no flavor, the homemade biscuit was pretty good but what I really liked was the potatoes, they were cooked to perfection. Some people just really love their jobs. That would be the case for our server Lexie. All friendly and accommodating. She brought out water and treats for our dog.
