On our last night in Rockaway Beach, my wife and I were looking for a new place to eat. We initially went to one place in Garibaldi, but it was an hour wait, no bar, and too many kids. This was not the environment we were looking for. We went back to the car and drove to Kelley's Place. This dive bar is in the middle of nowhere, but I'm glad we found it. Upon walking inside, we felt like we were at home. Though we love going to a high-end restaurant, we come from a small down and really enjoy the dive bars, especially when you get a friendly bartender, good drinks, and some good food. Kelley's had all of that. I went with the Cod Fish and Chips, which was breaded in Panko and fried perfectly. My wife had the Fish Sandwich, which tasted great as well. We also had the Coconut Prawns, which I'm sure were house made. These were amazing! If you're looking for a great dive bar that's not right on path, that has a friendly service, good drinks, and good food, stop by Kelley's. read more

Our motel manager recommended Kelley's Place for breakfast. We were pleased to see it was a waterfront pub/tavern. Our server, Autumn was so friendly and welcoming. Her service was impeccable. My spouse had the Classic breakfast. I enjoyed the Chicken Fried Steak. My over medium eggs were spot on and the steak was the best I've had in a while. My spouse's breakfast was ordered with extra crispy hash browns and English muffin. They nailed that and her eggs too. We loved the ambience and the patrons were friendly. Worth a stop if you are staying in Garibaldi, OR or just passing through. We will be back. read more

We were looking for a place where locals go because we usually find better prices, quality food and always an adventure. The location is a little off the main path but not impossible to find if you continue past the RV park on a gravel road. Once there you will find an older building along the water. It was clearly posted outside "no minors" and "cash only". Once inside it was an obvious local go to place. The bartender/server was polite and attentive to helping us even though were obliviously not locals. The menu items were mostly bar type food with salads and soup. I ordered the clam chowder, after the waitress assured me it was good. I consider myself a clam chowder connoisseur having tasted various restaurant recipes from the California to Washington state coast . Their chowder was one of the best, in my opinion. If you are a Mo's clam chowder fan than this is not the soup for you. The consistency was perfect and loaded with clams and vegetables. With the spectacular view of the smokestack and a ball game playing on 3 TVs, Kelley's may trick diners into a false perception and expectation of their service and food. Both are stellar. Their draft beer selection is also deceptively simple. They start with Bud Light, which is probably fine for many; but the selection also includes several local brews, all of which are cold and excellent. Exhibit A: The house salad. $4. Those hoping for iceberg lettuce and some shaved carrot will be sorely disappointed when they are presented with a bed of spinach and baby greens, shaved cheese, black olives and a tasty dressing. Exhibit B: Clam Chowder - tasty, simple, filling, great. Exhibit C: The Burger. Nothing short of stellar. I had mine plus bacon - I am not exaggerating when I say this was the best burger I've had in years. The service was friendly, quick and attentive. Perfect. This is a bar inside an RV park, which I wasn't expecting! Once you finally find your way there, it's in a nice, scenic location next to the water. It's pretty loud inside, so if you are looking for a quiet place to eat, this isn't it! I was a little disappointed once we got there because the menu posted on Yelp "is not" current by several years, they no longer serve what I went there for, and the prices were inflated. I guess you have to check their website, but what hoot is Yelp then? It cost us $40 for an order of Fish n Chips (Excellent) and French Dip (Pretty Good), no alcohol, plus tip. A down to earth bar sort of tucked away at the Old Mill RV resort. The lady who owns the bar is friendly when shes there and most of her hired help is too. Happy hour beers can be a steal at 2 bucks each and the locals are mostly friendly and open for conversation. The bar is in the shape of a ship and unique. They have a nintendo wii - and sometimes have a wii bowling competition which is a lot of fun. There is a patio area that over looks either a mudflat or shallow bay depending if the tide is out or not. The downsides are the little shots they pour. If I am going to pay 6 or 7 bucks for a shot I want more than an ounce. I know you guys can nickle and dime tourists here but an extra half of an ounce will go a long way to making the customers feel like they are getting their money. After buying a couple short shots here I decided to only buy beer from Kelleys and get my shots at the restaurant a short walk away. They pour fair shots over there and I didn't feel I was being ripped off. Another minor complaint is I ordered some mozzarella sticks and they came out tasting like fish - I don't eat fish so that was a bit of a problem. I would suggest getting a separate fryer for non-fish items Overall I really like Kellys - its a cool little spot with a good location. Kelly is a cool person and I haven't had any problems other than what I mentioned. I'll be back when I'm in the area and I'll order another shot just to see if you read this. I walked into Kelley's Place this morning. The staff did not say, "good morning! how are you?" or anything to that effect. They said, "we are not open!, we don't open until 8am." It was 7:50am. I had forgot about daylight saving time. I left and did not come back. Sure seems like they could have been nice and gotten me a table and just said it may take a few more minutes to get the food out. I'll probably give them another chance sometime, and see if they act like they're happy I'm there. read more

Excellent 'Share Platter', make sure you add the Coconut Prawns! EVERY customer is treated "like pre-covid". No excuses! Great food, GREAT SERVICE, water front view for a $3 beer. All lottery. Went in with friends for a cocktail and found an awesome view of the abandoned marina. The inside is very clean and Kelly and her husband are there to help! Our friends grabbed a couple salads which looked pretty darn good! And we shared some tater tot things with green chilies in them. Yummy! My friends and I stopped here for lunch on our way home from Rockaway Beach. The cafe had only been open a very short while, and we were sure glad we were there when it had. There were about ten of us, and our server did an outstanding job of making sure she got our orders right; we were served quickly, and the food was wonderful. Most of us had fish and chips (two big pieces for $7.95 served with soup or salad and choice of potato, veggie, and bread). Also on the dinner or lunch were liver and onions (bleh to me), rib eye steak, chicken fried steak, oysters, prawns and chicken. Breakfast is served all day, which I love: bacon, chicken fried steak, corn beef hash and eggs, rib eye steak. Or omelettes. Or biscuits and gravy or a breakfast burrito. There are also pancakes and French toast. For lunch there are sandwiches of all kinds as well as burgers. Their clam chowder was delicious. Prices are very reasonable, the dining area is nice and bright, and I hope this business is successful. We were all really glad we stopped there and I would gladly stop again. read more

mrs. k. and i (not to mention baby k.(!)) wanted some breakfast once upon a saturday about two months ago and went looking for something we hadn't tried before. yelp led us here and once again steered us straight and true. as you can see from the pictures, we bought a lot of food. i mean a LOT of food. the server was great - friendly and on point (although be warned, the one we had the next week was pretty meh). the food is not haute cuisine by any stretch of the imagination, but it is good greasy spoon/diner fare. apparently, according to my sources, it is owned/run by the same person as the pancake house (in tillamook). so if the pancake house hasn't treated you right, i wouldn't probably try this one. we've been back two or three times since then and it has been solid each time. they're not on the menu, but they *do* have mimosas, people - just ask and you shall receive (i'm a fiend for mimosas). also, you pretty much have to try the fried bread. yep, it is bread...that's been fried. add honey butter to the mix and you see where i'm coming from. the service *almost* brings this to four stars, but "a-ok" is a-ok... read more

I went there because I'd read such great reviews about the fry bread and the yummy breakfast. I have to say we ordered two orders of fry bread with great anticipation and excitement! What wasted emotion. It was not only TERRIBLE, but when I sent it back to the kitchen the manager/owner came huffing out and asked what's wrong with it. I told her the oil may have been too hot because it was burnt on the outside and doughy inside -- it also had a terrible "off" taste. She hastily said OK and abruptly left our table as abruptly as she arrived. She came back a few minutes later with our check and said "i took off $5 for it (still charging us $4) and said she hoped that was OK. I told her neither of us ate more than a few bites before sending it back and we felt the whole thing should be taken off. She glared at me and grabbed the receipt saying under her breath "If that's what you want". A few minutes later, she came back to the table, put the bill down and said "Is there anything wrong with your ham?" Truth be told, it was terrible (dry, thin cut, flavorless), but we said "no, it's fine" and we left without eating it. We'll NEVER go back. We eat out a lot and I know it's easy for a good restaurant to occasionally send out a bad meal. They deserve an opportunity to make it right. What they don't have the right to do, IMHO, is to make the customer feel like they've done something wrong when they complain. Eating out is expensive and I don't mind the prices, but I really do mind paying for food that is way below par. A manager/owner should be grateful for a customer that cares enough to say something. Had she offered to remake the fry bread, we would have been willing to try a new batch. Her bad attitude means we'll NEVER STEP FOOT IN KELLY'S AGAIN. My partner and I were passing through Garibaldi on our way home from a hike and we stumbled upon Kelly's. We were salivating for a true local family diner and Kelly's hit the spot. We munched on the Captain's platter and a cheeseburger. Obviously the seafood was delicious because they're located about 100 ft from water, but the fries were a crispy delight as well! While the drive to find this secluded bar and restaurant is charming. That's where it ends. The place is lit up like a showroom, the menu is handwritten in neon colors and "sandwiches" entails several just ask the bartender. If you can find her. The food is sub par to say least. I ordered the French Dip with Fries and a cup of clam chowder. I got a thin pile of cold cut roast beef on a hot dog bun, carrot clammy chowder and unsalted, room temp fries. All for the bargain of 13 dollars.  I could go on, however, there's a character limit. In short; I wouldn't recommend it. There are better options all close by. read more

Amazing food; and well worth the price. (not too spendy). My family was camping in the area and decided to go out once that week; so went here. Been here before a few years prior and loved it and decided to go back. The staff was super friendly and joked around with us (which we like). I got the fish and chips and clam chowder. Clam chowder was okay; not the best - but not the worse. The fish (cod) tasted so fresh and was cooked well. The French fries were probably the best I've ever had; I loved the fries. My meal (for dinner) was about $12 dollars and it was worth it; it tasted amazing. But a lot of options for under $10. Defiantly will go back! I recommend anyone to go. Good family environment or good for adults. Yes; it's a little run down place, but it is old. It still looks clean and everything from food to service was good. I ventured in here for lunch on my way down the coast. The decor is very plain, but the wait staff were all very friendly and the service was great. I ordered a crab melt with the homemade beef stew side. They brought the soup out right away and the meal was not far behind. I think it took them 10 minutes at the most to bring out the crab melt. The stew had lots of veggies and beef and tasted good. The crab melt which was on an english muffin was made with a decent quantity of local crab and Tillamook Cheddar Cheese. It was really gooooddd! 1. Staff Friendly, helpful, and quick. Exactly what you want in a server. I come with three boys so I need to feed them fast! 2. Food Hot, fresh, flavorful. It was satisfying. It was filling. my husband and I had the chowder it was good fresh chowder. I really enjoyed it. We also had a bacon cheese burger the patties tasted fresh pressed, the cheese was plentiful, the bacon was thick and cooked to perfection. I can't speak to what my kids ate but they seemed satisfied. For dessert we shared a clearly fresh dutch apple pie. It was what I was hoping to have. The boys shared a piece of caramel pecan pie. They had the plate clean before I knew it! There are some less than positive reviews. I think that they may have been looking for more than is offered. If you want something tasty and fresh and some friendly local service from a nice little fishing town this is a great place to grab a bite. read more

We went here on Labor Day morning after a weekend at the Old Mill campground. We usually head for a little place in Bay City, but decided to walk across the tracks to Kelley's. The decor had changed a little since the last time I had been in the building, about 2 years ago when it was a Mexican place. Little charm, with basic tables and booths. You could just as easily see the space being a meeting room as a restaurant eating space. We waited for the server to clean a booth for us, even though there were only a few people in the place. It became evident that this was the trend, not the exception when we waited and waited just to get coffee. I've never been a server, but I do know that the first thing you ask someone after seating them for breakfast is 'coffee?'. She actually went around the room refilling people and completely ignored us. So it took us a long time to get the coffee and to order. Luckily, the kitchen was faster than the server and the food came out fairly quickly. And the food was fine, if uninspired. I swear the 3 egg omelet was made with medium eggs, since it was puny compared to what I am used to. A nice touch is that the omelets do come with the choice of toast or pancakes, and I was able to order one buttermilk and one buckwheat. They were also fine, but again a little small. I generally would expect to not finish a 3 egg omelet and 2 cakes, but this plate I easily cleaned. If the service had been better, I might have given Kelley's one more star and called it average. But next time, we'll be heading back to the place in Bay City. read more

My husband went in and asked If we could get something to eat if we had a minor? A women clearly explained that It was bar., we could sit outside. This " women was rude" We chose Not to eat outside during a Oregon storm. Sorry I happened to have 13 year old. Like most teens constantly hungry. I have the ability to read and comprehend English.
