This was my first time trying Recess, and we were not disappointed. The meal was delicious and the portions were huge. I ordered the Cobb salad but also sampled a little bit of everything. I called in my order and mentioned that I would arrive in 30 minutes since we were coming from Pacific City. Was the drive worth it? I would definitely say yes. Recess operates out of a food truck. I didn't see any outdoor seating, but I can't be sure since I parked while my passenger went to pick up the food, and we took it to go. YUM. What a gem! We stopped by Recess on our way to the cheese factory for a late lunch and the gals here are the absolute sweetest! So kind and welcoming and the food was awesome. They do not skimp on anything and the wraps are jam packed with meat and fresh produce and the salad was nice and crisp. Our tater tots and fries were also delicious, piping hot and I loved that the picnic tables were surrounded by blackberry bushes so you can just nibble on those after! This is a food cart in Tillamook. Food is great. We each had the simple simon burger. They were cooked perfectly to order. The buns are homemade and the burger came with onions, lettuce, tomatoes and pickles. Side dishes we chose are the side salad and mac and cheese. Not surprised at all to find this rated so high. Amazing burger, price included fries and a little salad. If I were to nit pick it would be the fries... and I know those are very subjective. I think they use the same potato as In N Out and unless you fry the hell out of them, they don't get very crispy and I prefer crispier fries. Passing through town and decided to give Recess a second try last weekend. They now have a large, grassy outdoor area with picnic tables behind the truck...pretty cool. We ordered a Marco Polo and a Simon Says. Service was friendly, and the food took about 10 minutes. This go-round my burger was cooked to order, and the cheese was accounted for. They've still got one of the most unique and interesting buns around, and I love that a lil salad accompanies the burger and fries. The fries were great, with that hand-cut taste. The burgers were also tasty with fabulous grilled onions. My only real complaint pertained to the salt level. Both the fries and burger were on the salty side (but not the tots)...on the burger it could've been the bun, I couldn't be sure. Either way, if the salt was pulled back quite a bit it would definitely be a 5 star meal to me. Seems like they use high quality ingredients...and they serve up a nice meal. My boyfriend and I are both allergic to dairy and when I tell you this couldn't have been an easier, more kind and accommodating experience! The person I figured was the owner, was SO sweet and made ordering simple, and didn't hesitate to flag which sauces or ingredients had dairy. Their brioche buns are made in-house, the BBQ is homemade as well and both are seriously phenomenal. Plus, they didn't seem at all inconvenienced by the modifications we had to make, which is always a relief. To top it all off, the food absolutely RIPPED. *SO* good. I ordered online and got a call from a girl stating she wanted to be sure I wanted a burger on my salad or if I wanted the grilled chicken as there was a drop down box most people were unaware of. I did not want a burger on my salad. Five stars for taking the time out to clarify this with me. This is great customer service. I ordered the meal to go and the salad dressing was on the side and the salad looked exactly liked the pictures posted. I ordered the double crunch salad and it was fantastic! From the crotons to the perfectly grilled chicken to the amazing salad dressing. I also ordered a custard cake to try. I cannot tell you how amazing the cake was- I will be trying to replicate it in my kitchen for years to come. The cake was buttery and moist and the custard was perfect. I am pretty sure the blueberry compote was homemade as well. So five stars for the fresh and tasty food. I did get my order to go but noticed an area with some picnic tables. I was passing through and looking for a quick bite to eat. I saw a food truck on the side of the road so I decided to check it out. I was thrilled with the menu options. Really, something for everyone! I ordered a cob wrap, and this thing was filled with truly fresh veg and perfectly grilled chicken. A fantastic hidden gem right of Highway 101 waiting to brighten your day! My husband and I reached Tillamook in search of a yummy, satisfying, easy meal. We were actually on the way to a different eatery when we spotted Recess parked off the highway and ended up making a U-turn to go back. Little did we know, it would be one of the best decisions we made that day! The menu is a little hard to follow - every time has a lot to it, but the variety is wide so it's worth the time to read through the entire thing to find exactly what your tastebuds are looking for. The woman running the truck catered to us the moment she saw us at the ordering window. The wait was rather long - about 15 minutes, for a wrap and mac & cheese. Despite that, it was still a fantastic dining experience. As always, my husband and I split an item to avoid overeating/spending. We shared the Sneak Attack Cobb Wrap (your choice [we choose grilled chicken breast tenders], organic greens, shredded cabbage, carrots, green onions, bacon, avocado, tomatoes, and last but not least, *phew,* salad dressing in a flour tortilla, $12.00) with a side of macaroni and cheese. The wrap was fan-freaking-tastic! It was a ton of ingredients that mixed very well together. Half was way more than enough for just me. My husband also loved it! We both agree if we came back, we'd want the same thing. I wish we could say the same for the macaroni and cheese. Apparently it was the reason why we had to wait so long. It was very watery and the extra cheese that was so graciously piled on top wouldn't melt despite keeping the lid to the box closed. I wouldn't order it again. Maybe fries next time. We are flexatarian's like meat - mostly plant based - but the satisfaction value of a grass fed burger vs Recess veggie-burger is remarkably comparable for this "meat head!" The meat burgers here are natural with no GMO grains fed at the end - local Oregon farm - like to compare that to veg-burger & remark! Comprehensive menu but they will make what you want any way you want with what they got. Cool way to cook it up for a hungry Yelper! Big open & green space with picnic tables behind truck. Feels like a picnic with trees and hills off the main route. Service with a smile from the truck kitchen as they walked out lunch packed in a white picnic box. A squeaky clean kitchen inside the truck, because the Yelp Health Department (HD) scores (HD calculates its own independent score based on past inspection results of this business). Recess is a perfect 100 out of 100. No Tillamook restaurant even comes close to this. Kudos Recess - you are the best! All the Yums!!! We stopped on our way thru Tillamook with the thought to only have a small snack before dinner. That went flying out the window after reading the menu. Holy Food Truck! One of the best take out places we tried during our vacation. And with portions so large, we ended up skipping out on our original plan. Frychos were an all around favorite! Tator Tots, Mac, pulled pork, cheese, jalapeños all drizzled with bbq sauce. My Marco Polo burger was also delicious. Crispy bacon, juicy meat, fresh avocado. I wolfed it down without much hesitation. I also enjoyed the fresh salad on the side, since my consumption of veggies goes way down during vacation. This truck is set right near the Tillamook sign on 101. The basket of outdoor toys to play while you wait in the open area behind the truck is awesome and the perfect way to get some wiggles out. The food truck is large and cyan, but if you're going too fast, spot the Advance Auto and it's right across. What an awesome menu! Plenty of variety for all types of eaters from the carnivores to the wrap fiends. Everything is made fresh and to order. You can literally smell the fire and grease from outside; yum! The Marco Polo burger was sooo tasty. Juicy and packed full of flavor. It was nice to have the option of putting in the lettuce and onion myself. The mini side salad made me feel less bad about smashing a burger in my car in less than 5 minutes. Mac n cheese, while not as good my southern baked Mac n cheese, was a delight! Fair prices, a good variety of items that cater to all diets, and customer service is top notch. We tried a decent amount of their menu items and the cornbread waffle was the least favorite - good flavor but dry. Everything else was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. My brother, a meat connoisseur, said that their burger was the top two best he's ever had. That says a lot. I suggest starting off with the marco polo and fries and ending with the patty cake.
