Had to visit this new brewery in Rockaway on our Rockaway beach vacation. It was bustling when we arrived for lunch. They don't have many options for a party of 6 plus baby. In fact, I only saw one table in and one table outside big enough. But we were lucky enough to arrive as a party of 8 were leaving. Ordering is done at the bar, and there was a line to order. The menu is a little different than other Pelicans, but still had some good options. I had the fish and chips and my wife had the fish tacos. They seemed to be just the fish and chips cut up to fit into tacos covered with some salsa. She seemed to enjoy them and my fish was OK. I would go back but probably would either get a burger or the fish tacos next time. read more

Wow! Pelican Brewing in Rockaway?! We have been to one before and very impressed with their beer and food. New establishment, staff was friendly and helpful in ordering and description of food on menu. We found out that Tuesday's in February are all day Happy Hour. Yay! We were told servings were small plates. Man when our food came, our eyes amazed in the generous portions for Happy Hour. We ordered the Nachos, Brewers Burger, Kale Salad, Fish and Chips, with of course beer. Atmosphere and food was great. Recommend stopping for a bite to eat. read more

Another great location! So happy they opened this location recently in Rockaway Beach. This area could use more restaurant options, and Pelican Brewing is a perfect choice. The only drawback is the parking situation. They do have a small lot, but everything else around there is street parking. There's plenty of seating inside, including an upstairs area. They offer a nice variety of food and drink options. They offer beers on tap, and cans for purchase to takeaway. Our group ordered burgers, tuna melt and fish & chips. We all enjoyed the fries; nice and crispy on the outside. Everyone enjoyed their food as well. They offered a nice portion for the money. We also ordered the cheese curds and brussel sprouts. Both were delicious! Staff is super friendly, helpful and attentive. You order at the counter and they give you a buzzer to let you know when your food is ready. The front area where you order is pretty small and can get congested. Overall we were very happy with our visit. We're just so happy to have another food option in this area. Beak Breaker Hazy IPA was delicious. Took one home. Sadly the only food I got a pic of was the cheese curds. They were good. Crispy on the outside. Not as melty on the inside as I would've liked. The ranch they gave with the curds was really good. Lots of dill in it. We ordered the fish and chips. Fish was good. Could've been better. It was overcooked. Fries were good. Pretty terrible service. No communication so I had no idea I was supposed to pick up my drink instead of having it served to my table. Also ordered food and sat at a table. Was waiting for a while and finally went inside to see if I also needed to serve myself my food, as well. It was just sitting on the counter but no one told me when ordering that I would need to come back and grab it. Very strange and by the time I got to my food it was cold. What the heck. read more

I love pelican brewing in Canon Beach so I was stoked to try this taproom... I wish I hadn't. Customer service when ordering was great, the gentleman at the front was kind and helpful. The space is clean and obviously new. Unfortunately customer service failed after this first interaction. We waited over 20 minutes after all of our apps and 2/3 of our food had been delivered to ask about our missing entree. We understand sometimes things are missed or a piece needs to get re-fired. The food runner didn't make sure we had everything. We went up to ask for silverware and were treated like we just told them to run a mile... we asked about the missing entree and they just looked confused then it hit the table 7-10 minutes later... the burger was ice cold and fries were obviously just out of the fryer. No apologies for the late food or any check in from someone. We asked for to go boxes and were pointed to a stack with obvious annoyance from the employee. I hate complaining but we spent over $150 and received worse service than a fast food or dive bar. Save yourself money and disappointment, just drive to the Canon Beach taproom or choose another place in Rockaway to eat. read more

A small gem in Rockaway Beach that's absolutely worth the drive to the coast. The food was exceptional and the service truly outstanding. Compliments to the chef for a beautifully prepared lunch. If you're just looking for a cold beer and a tasty burger to wind down your day, go here. We had a dog with us so sat outside on the deck, which is conveniently located on the East side of the building so you're somewhat protected from the wind coming in off the ocean (although it also means you don't get the view but we'd been looking at the ocean all day by then anyway). Service was good, food was good, portion sizes were good (not huge, but enough for sure). read more

Was expecting more. We only had food and not beer so limited in the review to food and service only. You walk in and immediately search the menu board and order at the bar. Once we order and pay we are given a vibrating pager to let us know when to come back up for our food. We were directed to where to get our own water, and seated ourselves. Of course they still have a place to leave a tip on the Credit Card slip and a tip jar. Where is the service that I'm tipping on? I did all the work except cook the food. Do we start tipping at McDonald's as well? Same amount of service provided. We got 2 orders of fish and chips for $19 each. Fish was OK, not great. Super crispy panko style not traditional batter. Fries were warm not hot, and coleslaw was a tiny cup with two bits worth. Overall just ok. Probably should have gone to the smokehouse but we were looking for a little more ambiance. Lighting was extremely bright as well. Not the best atmosphere for a relaxing dinner. read more

Making a reservation is unreliable. Made and confirmed a reservation for 5 and then was told it was not made. This was the second day trying as well. Food was OK. I ordered fish and chips; my husband ordered the bleu burger. No complaints. A little spendy for what we got, but whatever. But what really irritated me is that the tray they stacked my food on was SO tiny -- literally about 4" x 6". The second that I set it down on the table -- (yes, you do have to pick up your food; they buzz you when it's ready) -- a piece of fish slid off and landed on the table. Yuck. I couldn't get to the fries without eating the fish first, because it was all stacked up on top of each other to fit onto the tiny tray. I'm really sorry that I didn't get a photo; it was pretty ridiculous. I complained to one of the employees; he said he was sorry, but didn't offer to replace the piece of fish that landed on the table. I ended up picking the fish out of the fried katsu coating, so it was probably actually healthier, but I would have preferred to have had the option of eating all three pieces of fish, coating intact, instead of feeling like a third of my $18.99 meal was contaminated. read more
