Worst place for business. Do not come here. I came with my friend and the lady left her in the middle of her pedicure to go work on another service while she left my friend there. Second, I ask if they could cut down my nails and there first reason was yes then when the lady sat me in the chair she just kept making excuses for not wanting to cut down my nails then she had the nerve to tell me " go back to the nail place you went too". So this is my go to nail place, and it has been for almost 4 years. I've noticed a change in their performance the last few months and it makes me want to look for another place now. The last times I have gotten a pedicure, they've been done so carelessly. They don't bother to really dig in anymore, they used to do the massages with lotion and now they just slap it on and leave it. This last time I went in specifically for a callus treatment during my pedicure and she didn't bother to ask me so I said forget it. To top it off, when they're scrubbing the bottom of your feet, they're not actually trying to clean them they're just wasting away their product. Today 05/14/2019 I arrived to river nail spa at 7:03 pm to be exact, I asked for a gel acrylic manicure and an elder men took me in, first he put the acrylic nail on crooked and had him fix it, then he cut them to the length I wanted too and I looked at both my hands and my right hand nails were way longer then the nails on my left hand and I asked him to fix it 5-6 times because he would cut it and still wouldn't be the same as my other hand, he then started putting the acrylic on and I saw him putting it on super thick and I thought to myself okay he's going to fix it and he just wasn't fixing it and I told him it was to thick and he would say he wasn't done yet not only did he do a really bad job but he took almost two hours! I walked out of there 8:40 pm, when I saw the result of my nails I wanted to let other staff know but he was the one closing. I've never been so disappointed with a manicure and I'm posting this so no one ever goes through what I went. Today 05/16/2019 I updated my 1 star to 4 stars just because I went back to the place showed the manager my nails and she was very understanding, sweet and apologized. I wish I could give negative stars. I used to come to this place for many years and tonight was the last straw for me. The past two times I have gone they have done a crappy job and their customer service is horrible. Tonight I walked in at 7:05 for arm wax and as soon as I walked in they said they were closed and they actually don't close until 7:30. I walked out and on my drive home I decided I should do something about it because that wasn't fair. I called to ask them when the manager will be in because it was wrong of them to do that to me and the employee said "well we wanna go home early." Every since this place opened this was my sister's go to, we would visit the spa frequently for our monthly pedis. Recently my sister and I have gone and they made such a huge deal over nail polish change the lady even rolled her eyes at us. My sister apologized for her mistake and felt bad and was willing to pay more for a new color, yet the lady still gave attitude and gossiped with her coworkers. Soon the whole spa workers started gossiping and when we asked for our total she took such a long time and gossiped with the whole spa in their language. If I could give this place -5 stars I would. The guy who did my medi missed so much of my nail. He was rushing and I had to tell him to fix this, clean that. I girl who did my pedi was okay. When she was done and putting my sandals on she messed up my nail and instead of redoing it she just slapped some nail polish on which left a bubble thing. She could've just redone it. I haven't been to river nails since Monique left. I was going to be in the area today even though I live in Fontana. I called at 3:30 and made an appointment for 5 o'clock with Cindy. I made arrangements with the babysitter and arrived a few minutes early. Cindy was just starting somebody else's nails and told me it would be a 30 minute wait. She said she could call somebody to come in from home but I said no thank you and left. I will never go back to River nails and I bet they have lost a lot of business because it looked completely empty. It used to be jampacked but there were only three or four technicians. I give this place 5 stars only for Monique and Kelly. These ladies always do such a great job and are willing to make sure you are satisfied with your nails. Recently went to get a fill and ended up hating the color I picked out because the UV lights turned it an ugly yellow gold. I wasn't going to fuss but she could tell I was unhappy and offered to paint them again, this time offering to help me with a color. I felt bad but was so happy she was willing to do it for me. I now love my nails and couldn't be happier. I will always be going to this nail salon as long as those 2 are still working there. All the other ladies I'm sorry but not worth it to get work done by them. I've gone to get them done a specific way (short with pointed tips) and everyone (except Monique and Kelly) says they can't do it, or they tell me it will be ugly, they also don't care if they hurt you, and get so snobby if you accidently tap the nail Polish, some even refuse to fix it. The only reason I went to River is because their hours are a little later and it's within my commuting range. But the service here is terrible.. I like going to nail salons speaking only English even though I'm fluent in Vietnamese because you really get a sense of what kind of service you get. I don't appreciate gossip and feeling uncomfortable when I'm in an environment where I'm paying for service to feel like I'm cared for and pampered. That being said... I feel very sorry for the young girl next to me getting her service done because they did not engage with her, tried to push services (that were not needed) on her, and pretty much mocked her. NOT COOL. At that point I started to reply in Vietnamese and the looks on their faces changed and began talking to me ever so sweetly. YES, I HEARD IT ALL. I'm really not trying to be a complete asshole and deface the business, but I just don't appreciate mean service being that my family does own nail salons and they are able to carry out services kindly. That's why people tip you and keep coming back. Aside from the service, as I've mentioned they do close later than other nail salons, so I was able to arrive to the salon about an hour and a half before they closed and my sister stopped by shortly after. We both got gel manicures and regular pedicures. The tubs are very clean so I did get an infection because the lady dug quite deep under my toe nail and now the nail has fallen off.. gross :'( This has happened on several occasions at other nail spas that have done this to me.. so I'm not just trying to berate this lady. It happens. Oh well. But the owner could invest in the bags to cover the tubs for every client. Other than that my pedi went well. My gel manicure was ok. I asked for matte grey. But like I said, the staff doesn't pay attention to their clients.. As the top coat was put on I had noticed it was really shiny. So I asked if that was the matte coating. And she said "oh you wanted matte.. I forgot. Do you still want matte? It's $2." WELL..... yes. I did ask. And because they were 15 minutes shy of closing, she asked another technician if it was possible to put that matte coating over the original one.. I should've said no. But I had come for matte grey nails. She painted over it. And the polish was SO thick and uneven. Not to mention, I had spots of my nails that were shiny.. so it was just ugly. She knew I was unsatisfied because I kept looking at my nails (probably with a really unpleasant look on my face) and just said "wow they're so nice." Like... what????? Whatever. Tips are only in cash. And an extra $1 charge for card. I paid, left, and seriously couldn't get over how upsetting the matte with spots of glossy grey nails were. On top of my service, my sister was cut repeatedly and her gel polish was so sloppy and gross it was like the polish was dabbed onto her nail. read more

First & last time going here ! I made an appointment for my friend and I at 6 , didnt get attended until 30 minutes after. I asked for a full set with gel and a gel pedicure, my friend just wanted a full set . So they start doing my mani and pedi while my friend is waiting her turn , they started attending other clients , and so around 7:20 i asked the lady if she knew when they were gunna start my friends nails and she said no no no and started arguing with the other two workers , and she tells me in a mean way "cant you see all the workers left" (the place closes at 8) , it was 7:20 ! Not my fault the workers left ! Anyways , so after all they did my friends nails and they finished mine . Mine were $70 for what i got while my friends was $25! First time back in 1 year and a 1/2. I wish I didn't go. I left so disappointed, River Spa, you WERE my home girl, now we gotta part ways. It was a week night and they weren't busy. I went in for a gel manicure, and the lady SCRAPED and PICKED the gel off. She didn't even wait for the acetone to soak the color off, home girl wasted no time as she took out her scraping tool (not wrapped in a sanitizer envelope packet or cleaned with alcohol) and went to town removing AKA scraping the gel off my finger nails. She got attitude with me because I kept pulling my hands back...needless to say, she was rough. The next step, I dreaded it the most, the cuticle cutter that still had SOMEONE ELSE'S skin on it. She even looked at it and pretended she didn't even notice. Imagine my horror (I sit here typing this review with my agonizing cuticles.) Before she put top coat on, there was no spray of alcohol to sanitize my nails before she seals in the bacteria until my next manicure. Anyways, she didn't even choose the right nail polish color. I would like to leave a good review but can't I gave this place a couple tries and each time got worse and worse. My last straw was when my best friend and i went and they had an unlicensed person work on my friend!!! She did not know what she was doing, had to keep looking at other employees to figure out what to do, didn't know how to do acrylics at all at the end my friends nails looked like they never got fills. the girl messed up the nails so bad that gel nor regular polish could be painted on. To top it off they still tried charging my friend $25!!! We ended up going somewhere else and as they tried to give her nails justice, they started breaking off. I went on a mission to find a new place to get a gel manicure since my favorite spot "Fashion Nail" in Baldwin Park started disappointing me little by little. I never seen this place before and I pass right through the shopping center everytime I need to go to walmart. Figured I will give it a try since all the reviews were good. I called in about 3pm to schedule 3 appoinments at 6pm for a gel manicure and eyebrow wax. Me and my sisters walked in at 6pm exact waited about 5 minutes before we were all sitted and got started on. Cindy was my girl and I swear she's my nail soulmate. She did an amazing job with both my nails and eyebrows. My sisters got different girls and they were also very happy with their work!! I was so amazed by how professional and beautiful the salon was. A lot of space and privacy inbetween chairs. And they have 1 waxing bed per room. Meaning each guest gets its own room while being waxed! I love this place and I will definitely be back!! Found this place in a flick a few months ago and I haven't been disappointed once. The girls are great at what they do. I just got a pedi this morning. Really dark red with white flowers. As it dried the red bled into the flowers making them kind if ugly. I went back a few hours later and they not only fixed it but were really nice. I've been to other places where I would have been openly mocked for being "difficult." Not here! Highly recommend them!!! read more
